Krysta almost didn't post a carousel about a viral celebrity ad campaign. Her take ran against everything in her feed, and she spent longer than she'd like to admit asking herself whether it was even worth weighing in. She posted it anyway. The DMs filled with "thank God someone finally said it," and then one comment landed from someone she hadn't talked to in about seven years: "What a disappointing take." It wasn't the disagreement that stuck. It was that one word.Disappointment Means Someone Expected a Different You• "Disappointing" implies an expectation. The commenter knew an older version of Krysta, and the gap was between that version and the opinion she holds now.• We all build little profiles of people (friends, parents, creators we follow) and get thrown when they don't land where we predicted.• Krysta was scared to replace weekly one-on-one Zoom calls with every Fitness FYX client. The check-in system that replaced them turned out better for everyone.• If you keep evolving, you'll keep disappointing people attached to older versions of you. That isn't avoidable. Disappointing yourself is.The People Who Disagree With You Aren't Asking Permission• Before posting, Krysta ran the mental gymnastics: who'll misunderstand, who'll unfollow, will I have to over-explain? Then she asked the question that mattered: what will I think of myself if I don't post?• One follower sent her a video she'd recorded for her own stories and never posted. The opinion was there. Understandably, the boys asked Chalmers for his first take on the situation, given that the Moose is his hero. Surprising? Yes. Disappointing? Also yes. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast on the Thursday episode of Real Life with a run of topics, starting with the Caleb Williams viral memes that kicked off after his hamstring injury from last Sunday. For Chalmers, the reaction to the injury was too much. But for the rest of the guys on the podcast, his beef of the week turned very quickly to making fun of his take.
