Thirty Years of Escaping Communism The untold story of Eastern Europeans and their pursuit of restoration in the post-Communist era George Bakalov grew up in a Communist country during the Cold War era. He became a believer at the age of 20 shortly before the collapse of Communism in Eastern Europe. Since that time George has been involved in ministry, church planting, humanitarian initiatives, and pro-Liberty activism around the world. His technology team has extensive experience in helping ministries like Hill Cities bring Christian content on the Internet. In this podcast, Jeff Hagen talks to George about growing up behind the Iron Curtain and about asking a lot of deeper questions about life in a country where you are not supposed to think like that! His journey to the truth of God was a different route. His life story is full of richly textured experiences in living out the faith that was revealed to him. George’s story is one of the many untold stories of Eastern Europeans who have witnessed first hand the devastation of Communism and the pursuit of restoration through the power of faith.

Hill Cities Mission is: “Serving men to go deeper with God and each other to fulfill their destiny.”  Why men? Tucker Carlson did a special entitled: Men in America. This is what he said:  Men are 2X more likely to be addicted to some drug of choice that women.  77% of all suicides in America are male! This increased by 43% from 1997-2014!  90% of the Prison Population is male.  7 million men of working age are not working. 50% are on pain meds.  Many fewer are getting married. They are more likely to live with their parents than a spouse.  Almost 50% fail the Military’s physical entrance exam.  His conclusion, Men are in crisis. When men fail we all fail! (if need to cut some thoughts out, fine)  Hill Cities has 6 groups of men that meet weekly. They are learning how to open God’s Word together and hear the voice of the Holy Spirit who has inspired His Word. We are training men to lead these groups and they are leading!  Tradition Bank hosted a couple of breakfasts where several of our groups of men came together. The purpose was to go deeper in community development and to discuss the future development of Hill Cities.
