Participants will discuss each criteria for determining if a student with a disability meets the requirement for ESY services. In addition, participants will be provided with recommended forms from the Office of Special Education’s procedures, Volume II: Free Appropriate Public Education / Individualized Education Program / Least Restrictive Environment / Extended School Year Services.

Participants will discuss progress monitoring procedures and the use of curriculum-based measure. This presentation focuses on utilizing outcome and baseline data, along with weekly progress monitoring, to calculate the rate of improvement for students with disabilities. Examples will be provided for documenting report of progress on the Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Using I Can Statements to Develop Annual Goals and Short-term Instructional Objectives

Participants in this session will utilize the MS College- and Career- Readiness Standards and the Scaffolding Document to determine how to develop measurable annual goals that align to grade-level standards. Participants will discuss the importance of developing the Present Level of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP) Summary (baseline) to develop measurable annual goals. In addition, participants will discuss the difference between STIOs and benchmarks.
