Platt's mom died of breast cancer. The fact that she died of breast cancer means she had a problem with progesterone, which is the hormone that protects women from breast cancer. She had a lot of fat around her waist, nowhere else. The only thing that puts on fat around the middle is insulin. So, Dr. Platt thought that maybe there was a connection between progesterone and insulin. When Dr. Platt started using progesterone cream, he never got sleepy again while driving. Eventually, Dr. Platt opened a wellness clinic to help people with their hormones. “Adrenaline is probably the number one cause of weight gain.” -Dr. Platt [03:25] What Exactly Adrenaline Is and How It Works In The Body Adrenaline is both a hormone as well as a neurotransmitter. Fibromyalgia is caused by excess adrenaline. When people have fibromyalgia, one of the main things they complain about is fatigue. When someone has a lot of adrenaline, they keep their muscles tense. When you keep muscle tense, you use up a tremendous amount of energy. Part of the fatigue when it comes to your adrenaline is due to just keeping muscle tense. Another reason people get a lot of fatigue with adrenaline is that it prevents them from sleeping. People with too much adrenaline are also low in the thyroid, which can contribute to fatigue. [08:35] What's The Correlation Between People With ADHD and People With High Levels of Adrenaline? What's nice about adrenaline is that it is a neurotransmitter; it gives people intelligence. As a neurotransmitter, it enhances what's called creativity. The most intelligent, successful creative people in the world have a lot of adrenaline. There are literally millions and millions of people that have been diagnosed with ADHD. ADHD is all about adrenaline. The most intelligent, successful creative people in the world have ADHD; it's not bad. Also, ADHD is not a learning disorder; it's an interest disorder. If people are interested and they have ADHD, they'll focus. If they're not interested, they will not focus. [15:00] Will A Keto Lifestyle Help Reduce Adrenaline In The Body? The brain requires two different fuels to function: glucose and ketones. By providing ketones to the brain and glucose, you can get a significant drop in the release of adrenaline within 24 hours. Road rage is caused by adrenaline. You can get rid of road rage in just 24 hours. Ketones will balance out adrenaline. When it comes to adrenaline, Dr. Platt recommends that people eat something before going to sleep. [19:20] Dr. Platt Reveals Some Major Signs That You Have Too Much Adrenaline Adrenaline peaks during the night. People with high adrenaline are quick to anger because adrenaline is an anger hormone. Also, they will have cold hands and cold feet. Adrenaline is a survival hormone. As a survival hormone, it cuts off blood supply to certain areas of the body that are not needed for survival. Also, adrenaline cuts off blood supply to the intestines. People with a lot of adrenaline will almost always have tension to the back of the neck. [28:35] There Are A Few Strategies You Can Use To Lower Adrenaline Levels The best way of tapering down adrenaline is eating correctly. Ketones are a great way to lower adrenaline. Also, glucose from vegetables will be useful as well. Progesterone will block adrenaline. However, if somebody already has insulin resistance and takes progesterone, it will increase the insulin resistance in the brain. [32:00] Not Many Doctors Are Talking About Adrenaline - Dr. Platt Gives His Thoughts Big Pharma controls medicine. They control what doctors learn in medical school and the medical boards that control the FDA. You have an entity that controls medicine that has no interest in people being healthy. Big Pharma doesn't want doctors to know how to get people well. Doctors get no training in hormones. [34:00] Progesterone Cream Can Help With Adrenaline, Here's How To Use It The back of the neck is a great place to put progesterone cream. There's a type of headache called occipital neuritis. This causes excruciating headaches, and it is always mistaken for migraines. This type of headache is only caused by excess adrenaline cranial pressure. He had this sneaky suspicion that better food and exercise could lead to better outcomes. So, Robb was interested in health at an early age. He was a California State powerlifting champion and got into Thai boxing and jujitsu pretty early on. It led to an undergrad in biochemistry, and then he was looking at either medical school or the research track. In college, Robb was experimenting with his diet. He was tinkering with a low-fat, high-carb vegan diet. Robb ended up making himself very sick. On his vegan diet, Robb was on a blood sugar roller coaster all the time, he had all these gut issues, and his depression was in pretty rough shape. Eventually, he changed over to a paleo diet, and it saved his life. [08:30] Spoiler Alert: Not Everyone Knows What They Are Talking About on The Internet If you're new to eating a raw diet or keto, you need to know the basics. Paleo, keto, and carnivore all revolve around protein. Providing nuance can be confusing when starting a new lifestyle. It's valuable to look at a variety of different people when finding advice on the internet. Learn from people who have had success in their lifestyle and are flexible. Remember, when starting a new lifestyle, it should be simple. [14:45] Are You Having A Hard Time With Keto? Robb Wolf Explains Why A lot of the problems that people experience is just inadequate sodium intake. If you keep your electrolytes up, you can often subside cravings. Keto can be a train wreck if you are a high-intensity athlete. On hard training days, you may or may remain in ketosis despite eating 200 grams of carbohydrate per day. [19:40] It's Critical To Keep Your Electrolytes Up To Help With Sugar Cravings You need adequate sodium. Otherwise, you may suffer from lethargy and fatigue. If you are fairly active and live in a hot, humid environment, your base level of sodium intake needs to be higher than what you probably think. If you're eating a minimally processed diet, then a lot of your food doesn't come with salt. You need to add salt to your diet or make sure salt is included in your foods. Monsanto was about to genetically engineer the food supply of soy and corn grown in Iowa. However, hardly anyone knew about it. The scientist knew that the technology was dangerous and could have a dramatic effect on human health. Jeffrey realized the fraud that allowed it to be approved by the corrupt regulatory agencies captured based on the mythological lies by the biotech industry claiming safety. So, Jeffrey started writing books and making movies about the controversy. Based on the evidence he collected, Jeffrey was convinced that eating these foods was causing tremendous harm to the US population and around the world. Did you know that GMOs have nothing to offer when it comes to feeding the hungry world? GMOs do not increase average yields, and increasing yields is not necessarily the way to handle hunger. Currently, there's more food per person than at any time in human history. GMOs work against developing countries, destroys biodiversity and concentrates the power into the hands of corporations. Sadly, GMOs can devastate both the health of humans and animals. [19:50] What Is Happening To Humans When Pesticides Are Going Into Our Water Supply? One of the highest levels of Roundup is in the animal feeds. In addition to being patented as an herbicide, glyphosate was patented as an antibiotic. Glyphosate is a special type of antibiotic because it kills the beneficial bacteria in our gut, not the pathogens. So, it creates dangerous changes in our bodies. Roundup can be a cause of leaky gut, and all diseases come from a leaky gut. Glyphosate damages the sequence of the DNA and creates oxidative stress, linking it to cancer. There are also birth defects associated with it and changes in epigenetics. [37:55] How Do You Go About Finding Wine That Is Not Contaminated? Finding a wine that is not contaminated will be a heavy burden. Someone did a study on organic wines in California. All except one had traces of glyphosate. Why are there traces of glyphosate in most wines? Well, it's because the water supply is contaminated and because the air is contaminated. Most of the time, ‘organic' isn't good enough. Instead, you need to know that it is non-GMO verified. [43:00] The Terms We Want To Look For When We're Shopping For Products Even if the beef says ‘grass-fed,' it could be grain-finished. If they grain finish, it is probably corn, and that would contain GMOs. You want 100% grass-fed beef. Ideally, you want to call them and ask if the pastures contain any genetically engineered alfalfa. Remember, consumer demand drives the companies. We really want the 100% grass-fed people to say no genetically engineered alfalfa. [46:50] Jeffrey Gives His Thoughts On The Dirty Dozen and The Clean Fifteen For a long time, the clean fifteen included papaya and corn. However, those are two of the most genetically engineered crops. There was something they weren't telling people. Glyphosate is not tested as a residue by the US government. The US government doesn't test for glyphosate because they have been bought off. The government believed that glyphosate was so safe, it didn't need to be tested. They haven't been able to change their minds because of the corporate capture. Jeffrey is exposing the shocking and potentially world-altering effects of genetic engineering microbes. A graduate student wanted to research a genetically engineered organism to get his Ph.D. So, he got permission to test this GMO microbe. He went into the lab one Saturday morning and was shocked to find that all of the wheat plants on his experimental batch had turned to slime. The sludge contained still active bacteria. The student discovered this two weeks before the people with the bacteria would release it outdoors to see how far it could spread. The microbiome, however, is far more complicated and essential than anyone ever thought. We didn't need a pandemic to know that they could travel around the world and mutate. However, she battled with depression. She struggled internally with just feeling not good enough. “It's important that we give ourselves the space and the grace to feel like it's okay to not feel okay.” -Dr. Frank When Dr. Frank found help for her depression, they gave her three prescriptions. Eventually, Dr. Frank realized that if you can rewire a computer, you could rewire your brain. So, she started doing all these little things to improve her mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional health. [03:50] The Importance of Focusing on the Inside Before Working on the Outside Frank always told people exercise would solve all their problems, when really, it wasn't solving her problems. When Dr. Frank was exercising and eating healthy, she still wasn't happy. That's when she decided to work on her personal development and personal growth. [12:40] Your Body Is Like A Computer and You Can Rewire Your Brain At Any Time Food is information, ultimately. Food is literally talking to our cells. Everything carries a specific frequency, and frequencies carry information. Counting calories is an old-school way of thinking. Instead, it's all about the quality of the foods you get. When we exercise, we are increasing oxygen and nutrients to the body. It will help with hormones. Everything we do is a download to our body and into our soul.   [17:55] Improving Our Minds By Going Outside and Getting Sunshine You need to take ten minutes every day to go outside. The mornings between 7 am and 10 am have healing rays from the sun. Go into the grass with your shoes off. Sunshine will help with serotine and vitamin D. Without the sun, there would be no life. So, it's important to get sunlight every day. [21:05] The Best Types of Foods For Your Body and Mental Health Garlic, turmeric, berries, and beets will create nitric oxide in the body. High-quality proteins will be great for brain function. Healthy fats are perfect for getting our neurotransmitters firing and wiring. Food will impact hormone production and our mood. We have to remember digestion starts before food even hits our mouth. The relationship we have with food is critical for health. [29:35] What's Better: A Physical Six-Pack or a Mental Six-Pack?   There is no such thing as the perfect body. So a mental six-pack is much better! Frank doesn't want her daughters to think that being skinny will lead to happiness. The expectations that society puts on women are not realistic. Instead, you need to find a healthy mindset. He started emotional eating, and at age 14, he was 260 pounds with a 50-inch waist. Jonathan's doctor told him that he was killing himself. So, he decided to lose weight. After cutting fat from his diet, he lost 100 pounds. However, his hormones were out of whack. Jonathan's binge eating tendencies built up because his ghrelin and leptin were all over the place. Eventually, Jonathan found the ketogenic diet. He went nine months without relapsing on his bulimia when Jonathan started keto. Tomorrow will be three years since his last relapse.   [05:35] The Importance of Faith In Order To Have A Mental, Physical, and Overall Health Transformation Humans are powerful creatures, and most of us don't realize what we're capable of as human beings. However, we are innately broken in terms of a moral construct. It's hard to build something on our own that is sustainable long-term. A higher power will help create a moral construct. It's absolutely huge to have faith in something bigger than yourself. [11:55] You Have To Work Inside Out When It Comes To Losing Weight and Having More Energy True change starts with identity. People have this really bad habit of thinking that the outside actions are going to change their hearts. True pure faith will produce the desire to do the right thing. First, you need to let your internal identity change. So, it's time to create an identity where you accept and love who you are. Outward change is a temporary fallacy, and inward change is what manifests long-term growth. [15:50] The Most Common Mistakes People Make When Trying The Keto Diet The first mistake people make is fasting out of pressure and not doing it off of innate hunger signals and satiation. A lot of people develop really bad relationships with food, even if they've never had them. Many people abuse fasting. Instead, you should be listening to your body and letting your body guide you on what fasting should look like. Another mistake people make on keto is not eating enough fat. Also, you should not overconsume fat when trying keto. Eight hundred calorie coffees are not the way to go. [19:40] What Are Healthy Keto Products? Tips For Shopping At The Grocery Store Always start on the outer part of the store. Avoid everything that is white. Meats and colored vegetables are what you should stick with. You shouldn't stroll through the aisles of the grocery store. We are marketed to want the more attractive things first. The farthest part of the store is the meat section – there's a reason for that. Lastly, watch out for seed oils. [25:15] Are You Having Trouble Sticking With A Keto Lifestyle? Jonathan Has Advice For You First, start internally. Then, work on the external. You need a ‘why' for trying the keto lifestyle. Jonathan says you should be able to maintain a healthy weight and a healthy diet 90% of the time. The only way you can do this is by having a why. The only way you can maintain your weight loss is by changing your identity. Also, Jonathan says you need to work on stress management. Lastly, it's time to stick with your food list. Everybody knows their body. You know when your body is off. Plus, Dr. Amie was tired, and her hair was falling off. The doctor told her to eat less and exercise more. For Dr. Amie, that wasn't possible. Six diagnoses later, a doctor said she had hypothyroidism. [04:15] How Long Does It Take For Conventional Medicine To Diagnose A Thyroid Disorder? Doctors are looking at a standard lab range, which is huge. So, it's challenging to know about thyroid problems with conventional medicine. Some people see between six and ten doctors before learning about hypothyroidism. Amie knows someone who saw forty doctors before she was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. It's different for everyone. However, if you know something is wrong with your body, then you can't stop searching for answers. [05:05] The Symptoms To Pay Attention To For Thyroid Disorders You may have a thyroid disorder if you are gaining weight with proper diet and exercise. There are other symptoms of thyroid disorders: Hair loss Fatigue Constipation Hypo is low and slow. Your mood will be depressed, your energy will be down, and your ability to burn fat will be down. [11:55] The Role Insulin Resistance Plays With An Underactive Thyroid “I see insulin resistance in about 99% of my thyroid patients.” -Dr. Amie The thyroid gland is the ultimate master gland of all of your trickle-down hormones. If we are living a lifestyle of high carbs and high sugar, we are actually causing insulin resistance. This type of lifestyle does produce a ton of inflammation. High insulin levels will inflame the thyroid and cause the thyroid to not produce enough hormones. Inflammation is beating up the thyroid gland. [14:00] True or False: You Cannot Do Keto With An Underactive Thyroid False! Keto is by far the best way of eating for hypothyroid patients. When there is inflammation, keto can be a total game-changer. Keto will improve inflammation. Therefore, you can improve your thyroid production. [20:30] Is Long-Term Ketosis A Good Idea For People With An Underactive Thyroid?   Being in ketosis for years without a break can lower your 3T3 levels. Usually, it's not a huge issue because it only lowers those levels a little bit. Instead, Dr. Amie says to come out of ketosis everyone once in a while. Break out of ketosis; that's all you need to do. Eat a sweet potato once a week. It will keep your thyroid gland active. [28:20] True or False: You Can't Fast With A Thyroid Issue False! When we're talking about the thyroid, we have to take into account the adrenal glands and cortisol production. Adrenal fatigue is blown out of the water a little bit too much. We do have to think about stress on the body and how it's going to affect your cortisol production. You can't deny the benefits of fasting. If you wake up and you are not hungry, do not shove food down your mouth. If you wake up hungry, then eat. Your body gives you signals all the time; listen to them! [33:00] Always Choose To Focus What Is Within Your Control 80% you can control; 20% you can't control. You can control your choices and what you put into your mouth. Also, you can choose what products you put on your body. Make sure you limit down your exposure to toxins. If you try to be perfect, you're just going to be at a standstill. He attained both his Doctorate of Chiropractic and Masters in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine from the University of Western States in Portland, OR. He is a health coach, speaker, and the author of two books on health; The Health Evolution: Why Understanding Evolution is the Key to Vibrant Health and The Heart: Our Most Medically Misunderstood Organ. Dr. Hussey guides clients from around the world back to health by using the latest research and health attaining strategies. In his down time he likes to be outdoors, playing sports, reading, writing, and spending time with his wife and their pets. In this episode, Dr. Hussey opens the show by explaining why he wrote a book about the heart. After doing some research, Dr. Hussey realized that many things people told him about the heart growing up were utterly wrong. He explains why the heart is humanity's most medically misunderstood organ. In college, Dr. Hussey had a good relationship with his pediatric endocrinologist. In fact, he inspired Dr. Hussey to be some sort of medical practitioner. During his studies, Dr. Hussey realized that his lifestyle would impact his inflammatory conditions. No doctors told him to change his lifestyle. Instead, they said to eat whatever he wants and take more insulin when he needs it. [04:00] Why Dr. Hussey Decided To Write A Book All About The Heart Growing up, Dr. Hussey would see posters that said, “diabetics have two to four times increased risk of heart disease.” Whenever Dr. Hussey would ask someone why that was, they would say it was because of higher blood sugar over time. So, Dr. Hussey tried to learn as much as he could about heart disease. After doing his own research, Dr. Hussey realized a lot of things he was told were completely wrong. [10:30] Why Your Organs Prefer To Burn Fatty Acids and Ketones Most organs in general in the body seem to have this preference for burning fatty acids and ketones for fuel. Even in the presence of glucose, the heart still chooses to burn ketones and fatty acids. There are mechanisms in place that give the heart first dibs on fatty acids. Your body needs to be generating the most ATP possible because you get way more ATP burning fatty acids and ketones than you do glucose. [13:20] Why The Red Meat Study Doesn't Make A Lot of Sense The China Study uses all associations, so they can't really tell us much of anything anyways. You can't say one thing caused another when doing these types of studies. In The China Study, they found that people who ate more red meat had higher incidences of heart disease. When you look at the data, the people who ate more red meat were people who lived in cities. The study cannot flesh out the differences between someone who lives in a city and lives in a rural area. In cities, there are more toxin exposures and more stressful lifestyles. Plus, there are more processed foods in cities. All these differences cannot be flushed out in a study. [15:30] What Eating Red Meat Does To Your Body Red meat is one of the best foods for human beings. It's a food that is nutrient-dense and bioavailable. Our population is extremely undernourished and overfed. Red meat will be important for people to consume. Getting rid of animal farming is not an option for the health and future of humans. Humans have been eating red meat since the beginning of humans. It makes no sense that it would be killing us. There are certain nutrients that come almost exclusively from our meat and red meat. Why would a food that has so many beneficial nutrients to the heart also be killing the heart? [27:20] Does LDL Mean Anything When It Comes To All-Cause Mortality? Doctors say that LDL should be lower than 100. However, they started it at 250. So, we really don't know what it's supposed to be. The levels of LDL that associated with the lowest death from anything were between 117 and 160. The recommendation is to have it below 100. However, the highest all-cause mortality was lower than 84. There are studies that say higher LDL is better than a lower LDL. [32:40] Instead of Focusing on Lower Lowering Cholesterol, Focus on Lowering Inflammation Treat insulin resistance first. That way, inflammation will go away. If you treat those two things first, then your LDL doesn't matter. The only reason LDL will become problematic is because of inflammation and insulin resistance. There are studies that suggest that higher LDL can be beneficial. It's all in the context of the health of the human. Everything should be based on how you feel. If you are just checking LDL, then you are missing the bigger picture. [37:10] The Heart Isn't The Main Mover of Blood Within The Body When you look at the physics of it, there's actually no way that a heart the size of ours could pump blood throughout the entire body. There's evidence that blood can move on its own. Our blood is about half water, and water can absorb energy from the environment. When our blood has sufficient energy, it will do unique things and structure itself. [49:00] Which Is Worse: Carbs or Vegetable Oils? Vegetable oils will derail the metabolism in a way that ultimately causes insulin resistance. The vegetable oils are lighting the fire. Processed carbohydrates add fuel to the fire. You're not going to be able to burn off vegetable oils as efficiently as the glucose. Instead, they're going to cause inflammation. It's critical to minimize bad fats from our bodies. AND MUCH MORE!
