It takes GUTS to be real, raw, vulnerable. It takes GUTS to change, to grow, to say NO, to improve yourself every. single. day. It also takes GUTS to battle with an autoimmune disease and not let it define you, but instead push you to be better. On the "It Takes Guts podcast" I'm bringing on roc…
It starts in Cartagena Colombia. A woman, operating in a notebook factory in La Matuna, wanting to get closer to her dreams, set course for New York. A daughter, operating in a factory of dreams, pencil and paper lover, found in the land of her roots a lack in style and design of the notebooks. On today’s episode I’m sharing the story of Rebecca Liloy who followed her passion of journaling and created Laurel. Laurel is a notebook company in Medellin, Colombia that offers simple, modern and high-quality notebooks. It is a brand that seeks to create cultural connections through its paper products. Her notebooks are now available across Medellin and will soon be branching out to Bogota. In this episode we discuss the power of journaling and the biggest benefit that she’s found from it. On today's episode of the It Takes Guts Podcast join me as I have a conversation with my partner Oscar Guerrero about embracing and rebounding from failure. As part of our society we've been conditioned to see failure as something negative, so much so that too many people are paralyzed from taking action and going after what they really want because they have a strong "fear of failure". I know I spent the majority of my life never doing anything that wasn't "safe" because I was terrified at trying and failing, I was constantly chasing perfection. On our entrepreneurial journeys Oscar and I both have experienced failure and the depressive emotions that resulted from them. In this episode we share our own personal stories of failure, the consequent funks that we fell into and how we've been able to rebound from them. Successful people will fail often, and will rebound quickly from their failures. ---- For more daily motivation follow OSCAR at:@oscarcguerrero -----
In today's episode of the It Takes Guts Podcast I touch on the second meaning behind the name "It Takes Guts". You see, along with about roughly 3 million Americans I've been diagnosed with the invisible, hidden disease: IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). For those who've never heard about IBD here's a little info for ya: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a term for two conditions (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) that are characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Prolonged inflammation results in damage to the GI tract. Not many people understand IBD - it is a largely hidden disease, and one that causes stigma, fear and isolation for those who live with it. It is thought that many people with the condition go undiagnosed and suffer in silence. I invite you to listen to my own personal journey of battling IBD where I get real about the symptoms, the emotions, the struggle, the hope and the healing that's given me my life back. ---
Learn how to get good at saying NO. In today's episode I talk about the power of saying NO. Saying no to people, places, jobs, things, etc. that don't serve you and don't allow you to reach the fulfillment in life you're striving for. The best part of saying no to what's unimportant is that you're allowing yourself to say yes to what IS important, what will take you to that next level, the opportunities that will come out of it will amaze you. ----
