What's up, guys? Today I am bringing you an absolute must-listen conversation with Felix Prehn. Felix is a renowned investor and financial educator, and the founder of Felix & Friends and The GOAT Academy on YouTube—a guy who is obsessed with teaching people how money actually works. Felix has built a global following by breaking down the mechanics behind money printing, debt, inflation, and the moves happening right now in the bond market that are going to impact every dollar you've ever made or saved.I wanted to talk to Felix because, to be straight with you, we are living through a radical shift in the economy, and most people have no idea how deeply it affects their future. Felix cuts through the noise and tells it like it is—who is going to get crushed by inflation, why hard assets are your defense, and how to spot the difference between growing your wealth and just getting decimated by printed money. In this episode, you're going to walk away knowing exactly why the US and Japan are on a collision course with reality, what happens when governments play games with their own debt, and most importantly, what you can do right now to protect and build real financial security for you and your family. If you care about your financial future—and you should—this episode is mission critical. If you get value out of this, drop us a review—it's the best way you can help us reach more people who are hungry to reach their greatest potential. In this episode of Blocks, Neal Brennan sits down with comedian Gianmarco Soresi to discuss the unconventional path that led him to standup. They dive into his childhood experiences with divorce, his short-lived dreams of becoming a professional singer and actor, and the deep-seated desire for "glory" that keeps him on stage. Gianmarco also opens up about his relationship with his parents, his thoughts on depression and Adderall, and how he's learning to find balance between his workaholic nature and his personal life. ---------------------------------------------------------- 00:00 - Intro 01:03 - Comedic Wardrobe & Authenticity 03:05 - Rebelling Against His Father 04:59 - His Parents' Divorce 06:11 - Understanding the Nature of Cheating 09:03 - The "Fake" Wedding Priest 10:44 - Choosing Transparency Over Chaos 11:59 - Trying Drugs in His 30s 12:51 - The Acid Trip Epiphany 14:00 - Sponsor: Ultra Focus Pouches 15:58 - The Impact of a Restless Childhood 18:27 - Living with a Stepdad "Antagonist" 20:13 - The Prince of the Weekend 23:31 - Disrupting the Family Narrative 26:10 - The Fallout of a Family Legal Battle 29:24 - Losing the Spotlight at Home 31:32 - Sponsor: Square 34:17 - Sponsor: Quince 36:48 - From Theater Kid to Unathletic Adult 38:47 - The Desire to be Witnessed 39:19 - Using Adderall to Feel "Alive" 41:35 - Fighting the "Lead Vest" of Depression 44:31 - Finding Happiness Outside of Achievement 46:21 - On Theater and Heterosexuality 48:11 - The Pursuit of Glory 51:24 - The Brutal Reality for Dancers 54:11 - Bob Fosse and the Addiction to Showbiz 55:56 - Sponsor: Perplexity 59:30 - Sponsor: CookUnity 1:02:46 - The Workaholic Gene 1:04:06 - Developing New Show Concepts 1:05:08 - How Gianmarco Wants to Die 1:06:16 - The Struggle of Obsessive Practice 1:08:40 - When Music Overwhelms the Mind 1:09:32 - The Cost of Broadway and Theater Culture 1:12:09 - Failing into Standup 1:15:50 - Faking Intellect vs. Perspective 1:18:55 - Watching Art Without Self-Loathing 1:21:27 - Final Thoughts ---------------------------------------------------------- Follow Neal Brennan: https://www.instagram.com/nealbrennan https://twitter.com/nealbrennan https://www.tiktok.com/@mrnealbrennan Watch Neal Brennan: Crazy Good on Netflix: https://www.netflix.com/title/81728557 Watch Neal Brennan: Blocks on Netflix: https://www.netflix.com/title/81036234 Theme music by Electric Guest (unreleased). Noah Pines spent seven years as a prosecutor in Georgia — weighing sentences, navigating cases, trying to be a fair voice inside a system that does not always reward fairness — before leaving to become a criminal defense attorney and discovering what the justice system looks like from the other side of the courtroom. In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, he shares what being a Georgia prosecutor really required of him, why he left after seven years to defend the people he used to prosecute, what working Innocence Project cases and overturning twenty year wrongful conviction sentences actually involved, what the current problems with prosecutors in America actually look like from someone who spent seven years inside that world, and what representing people accused of the worst crimes available actually requires of the attorney who takes those cases. _____________________________________________ #lawyer #criminallaw #prosecutor #truecrimepodcast _____________________________________________ Thank you to CASH APP for sponsoring this episode: Download Cash App Today: https://click.cash.app/ui6m/6pao71et #CashAppPod Cash App is a financial services platform, not a bank. On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared and Jen sit down with clinical psychologist Dr. Roger McFillin for a challenging conversation about psychiatric diagnosis, mental health medications, and the medicalization of normal human struggle. Jen shares her experience of being prescribed Prozac at age 13 and spending decades living under diagnoses that shaped how she saw herself. Dr. McFillin explains why he has become an outspoken critic of his own profession and questions how conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD are diagnosed. They discuss the DSM, informed consent, psychiatric medications, emotional suppression, personal agency, and the powerful effect a diagnosis can have on identity. This conversation asks an important question: Are we helping people understand why they are struggling, or simply giving their struggles a name?Additional Information:Dr. Roger McFillin - Website + Podcast Dr. Roger McFillin Instagram Dr: Roger McFillin on X Dr. Roger McFillin Substack Center for Integrated Behavioral Health Jen's Story Episodes:264: Emotional Vitality423: Emotional Vitality: Jen's Story Part 2 - Rebalancing Mind and Body Through Supplementation438: Emotional Vitality: Jen's Story Part 3 - Weaning Off of Pharma457: Emotional Vitality: Jen's Story Part 4 - How Changing Your Mindset Can Change Your Life 505: Emotional Vitality: Jen's Story Part 5 - The Impact of Diet on Mental Health and Physical PainVisit the podcast website here: VitalityRadio.comYou can follow @vitalitynutritionbountiful and @vitalityradio on Instagram, or Vitality Radio and Vitality Nutrition on Facebook. This week on The Audit Podcast, Rania Bijlani, Founder & CEO of RB Advisory & Consultancy, joins the show to discuss how internal audit leaders can prepare for the future of the profession, embrace AI without losing human judgment, and build stronger partnerships across the organization. Rania explains why auditors need to move beyond simply using AI tools and start thinking about how they can audit AI, govern its use, and become part of the strategic conversation around AI. She breaks down the three biggest risks she sees for auditors: failing to learn AI, using it only superficially, and becoming overly reliant on it. She also explains why discernment and judgment will become even more important as AI takes on more of the work. Rania also shares her approach to helping internal audit teams become AI-ready, emphasizing that training alone isn't enough. Teams need a strategy, an actionable plan, and implementation support to turn what they learn into meaningful change. The conversation then shifts to one of Rania's biggest areas of expertise: building trust, influence, and real partnerships within the organization. She breaks down the foundation of trust, why credibility and shared purpose matter, and how auditors can move beyond policing the business to becoming true partners. Finally, Rania shares the biggest lesson she's learned from hosting her own podcast, Impact Legacy with Rania: across industries and leadership roles, it is the human skills — authenticity, self-belief, strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, and relationship-building — that truly make leaders stand out. Guest: Dr. Dillon AmayaThe Pacific Ocean covers nearly a third of our planet, and yet some of its most important changes happen far from shore and often out of sight. But whether it's a developing El Niño, a cooling La Niña, or an expansive marine heat wave, what happens in the Pacific can influence weather, ecosystems, and communities around the world. Today on Weather Geeks, we're joined by Dillon Amaya, whose research focuses on the complex relationship between the ocean and the atmosphere. We'll explore the growing scientific interest in Pacific marine heat waves, what we've learned from some of the most notable events in recent years, and how these episodes can ripple through both weather and climate systems.Chapters00:00 Introduction to Marine Heat Waves02:32 Dylan Amaya's Journey into Meteorology05:34 Understanding Marine Heat Waves08:48 Marine Heat Waves vs. Ocean Warming11:38 Impact of Marine Heat Waves on Weather13:37 Break 113:39 Marine Heat Waves and El Niño17:45 Causes and Effects of Marine Heat Waves20:54 Ocean Temperature Changes and Jet Stream Dynamics22:11 Marine Heat Waves and Climate Variability23:59 Ecosystem Impacts of Marine Heat Waves25:41 Coral Reefs and Marine Heat Waves27:17 Global Hot Spots for Marine Heat Waves28:05 Break 228:06 Understanding Atlantic Niña and Its Effects30:32 European Heat Waves and Ocean Anomalies31:37 Surprising Discoveries in Marine Heat Wave Research34:13 Climate Change and Ocean Temperature Trends36:22 Future Research Directions in Marine Heat Waves37:41 Machine Learning in Marine Heat Wave ForecastingResourcesNOAA PSL Marine Heat Waves Forecast System - https://psl.noaa.gov/marine-heatwaves/NOAA Ocean Temperature Monitoring - https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/GODAS/El Nino and La Nina Explained - NOAA - https://oceantoday.noaa.gov/elninolanina/Marine Blob Tracker - NOAA - https://www.integratedecosystemassessment.noaa.gov/regions/california-current/california-current-marine-heatwave-tracker-blobtrackerScripps Institution of Oceanography - https://scripps.ucsd.edu/Guest linksLinkedIn - linkedin.com/in/dillon-j-amaya-2bb2a892Twitter - https://twitter.com/dillonamayaNorth Carolina State University - Dillon Amaya Profile - https://meas.sciences.ncsu.edu/people/djamaya/See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
What if the rejection that broke your heart was actually protecting you and redirecting you toward something greater? On this episode of The Sisterhood of S.W.E.A.T., Linda Mitchell sits down with powerhouse vocalist Pia Toscano for a conversation about faith, rejection, surrender, resilience and learning to trust the path you never planned. Pia first captured national attention as a frontrunner on Season 10 of American Idol. Her unexpected ninth-place elimination stunned viewers and judges alike and became one of the most talked-about eliminations in the show's history. But Pia's story didn't end when that door closed. She went on to tour with Jennifer Lopez, collaborate and perform with legendary producer David Foster, and become a frequent touring performer with world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli. Today, Pia has built a community of more than one million followers and is preparing to head back on tour with Bocelli. Now she's telling the story behind those unexpected turns through her deeply personal new single, "Redirected." Co-written with Stacey Kelleher, the song grew from a phrase Pia had repeated to herself for years: "Rejection is God's protection." Pia shares how she came to understand that closed doors, heartbreak and unanswered prayers weren't necessarily setbacks. Sometimes they were leading her somewhere she couldn't yet see. Linda and Pia also talk about surrendering control, looking back at the defining moments of her career, finding purpose in disappointment, and Pia's newest and perhaps most meaningful chapter yet: preparing to welcome her first baby in December. This conversation is for anyone who has ever wondered why something she desperately wanted didn't happen. Maybe you weren't rejected. Maybe you were redirected. IN THIS EPISODE Pia and Linda talk about the powerful story behind "Redirected," why Pia believes rejection can be God's protection, her shocking American Idol elimination, what came after Idol, touring with Jennifer Lopez, working with David Foster, performing around the world with Andrea Bocelli, surrendering the life you planned, trusting closed doors and unanswered prayers, preparing for motherhood, and finding the courage to believe there may be something greater ahead. Summary In this episode, Pia Toscano shares her inspiring journey from American Idol rejection to international success, emphasizing the importance of trust, surrender, and redirection in life and career. Discover how embracing setbacks can lead to unexpected opportunities and personal growth. Key Topics Pia Toscano's journey from American Idol to international performer The role of rejection and redirection in personal growth The importance of trusting life's timing and surrendering control Balancing career ambitions with motherhood and personal joy Lessons learned from working with Jennifer Lopez and Andrea Bocelli Takeaways Rejection is often redirection and a sign of God's protection. Trusting the timing of your life can lead to unexpected opportunities. Surrendering control is key to discovering your true path. Maintaining faith and positivity helps overcome heartbreak and setbacks. Embracing change and new seasons brings joy and fulfillment. Sound Bites "I don't take no for an answer and I try not to let it defeat me." "Sometimes the life is your meant for begins when your original plan falls apart." "God's way is going to be better than my own." Send us Fan MailWhat does it take to build a 38-year career, lead a company through 20 years of growth and adversity, and stand up for the things you believe in—even when doing so isn't easy?In this episode of the Today is the Day Changemakers Podcast, I sit down with Philip “Phil” Brilliant, founder and owner of Brilliant Environmental Services, LLC, a full-service environmental consulting firm celebrating 20 years in business.Phil has dedicated more than 38 years to environmental science, helping protect the water people drink, the air they breathe, and the communities where they live. During his career, he helped grow an environmental company from four employees and $400,000 in annual revenue to 68 employees, four offices, and more than $9 million in revenue. His leadership extends far beyond his business. Phil is a longtime community advocate, frequent lecturer on environmental remediation, original member of the New Jersey Site Remediation Professional Licensing Board, and host of the Simply Brilliant Podcast. He continues to speak up, step forward, and stand behind the issues he believes matter—even when doing so makes him a target. But to understand the leader Phil became, you also have to understand where he came from.Raised by a single mother with limited resources, Phil learned about sacrifice, perseverance, and generosity at an early age. His mother raised two children, later returned to school, and earned her college degree at 50.When Phil was eight or nine years old, he tried to help her pay the bills. He found what he believed were postage stamps, licked them, and carefully placed them on the envelopes. He soon discovered that they were actually the family's food stamps for the week. His mother also taught him the power of making people feel seen. She kept gifts in the trunk of her car because she believed you should never arrive at someone's home empty-handed. She would even give a gift to a stranger celebrating a birthday in a restaurant. Today, Phil honors her legacy through a scholarship that helps high school seniors continue their education.Phil also speaks candidly about one of the most difficult chapters of his professional journey. After discovering his company was losing money on every job, he faced approximately $700,000 in bills with only about $100,000 coming in. He reduced his staff from 45 employees to 10 and ultimately filed for bankruptcy.Through honesty, resilience, and the willingness to ask for help, Phil rebuilt his business without losing a client or vendor. His advice to entrepreneurs is something every leader needs to hear: You may know something, but you do not know everything. Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you in the areas where you need support. This is a conversation about business success, leadership, family, community advocacy, bankruptcy, rebuilding, and having the courage to use your voice.Stories like Phil's are at the heart of my book, LIVE IT! From the Edge of Comfort to the Center of Impact. Through real and deeply personal stories, the authors share how they moved beyond judgment, uncertainty, fear, and challenge to create lives of greater purpose and impact. The radiologist shortage is real, and international medical graduates (IMGs) are already helping solve it. Sohrab Afshari Mirak, MD, speaks with cohosts Surbhi Raichandani, MD, and Sherry Wang, MBBS, about his path from Tehran to UCLA, the American Board of Radiology Alternate Pathway, visa hurdles, and what IMGs bring to patient care. In this episode of Girls Can, host Grace Swain interviews college admissions expert Renee Bookout about the changing landscape of getting into college. Renee Bookout shares how her own experiences and mistakes inspired her to help students navigate the complicated admissions process. She discusses the importance of finding the right college fit, the need for authenticity in applications, and practical advice for managing stress and building a strong resume. Renee Bookout encourages students to start early, use available resources, and not be discouraged by setbacks or failure. She also explains the value of standardized test scores, but stresses that passion, leadership, and character matter just as much. The episode wraps up with helpful recommendations for books, time management tips, and the reminder that not every student needs a college counselor if they have a good support system and utilize free resources. 3 Listener Takeaways 1. Fit goes far beyond rankings. Renee Bookout wants students to stop chasing the list and start looking for the place that actually feels like home. Rankings and where friends are going will not tell you if the community fits. Visit campuses. Notice where you connect. The tribe you choose can matter for a lot longer than a prestige score 2. Authenticity beats perfection. Colleges are looking for the real student, not the version built to impress. Renee champions essays that are honest about growth, resilience, and what you care about. Vulnerability is not a liability here. A true story stands out in a stack of applications that only check the boxes. 3. Start early, stay open, and ask for help. College prep is not a last minute sprint. Renee's advice is to pay attention sooner, explore what actually interests you, tap free resources and mentors, and reach out before you feel ready. It takes a village. The journey still belongs to you . SummaryWhat should every new teacher know before they are asked to improvise, differentiate, or innovate? Gene Tavernetti argues that one of the most important foundations is fluency in explicit instruction—not just hearing about it in professional development, but learning to design it, deliver it, practice it, and receive feedback until the work becomes automatic.Gene explains why that fluency matters in real classrooms: it reduces the number of decisions teachers have to make, gives them a reliable baseline for accommodations and modifications, helps schools eliminate instructional variables before moving students into intervention, sharpens their ability to evaluate purchased or AI-generated materials, and creates a common language for collaboration. The goal is not to make every lesson look the same; it is to give teachers a strong instructional foundation from which they can adapt intelligently.Chapters0:00 — Better Teaching introduction0:41 — What new teachers need to know1:52 — Why training and coaching matter3:10 — Reason 1: Build fluency and automaticity5:19 — Reason 2: Create a baseline for accommodations6:22 — Reason 3: Eliminate instructional variables8:02 — Reason 4: Evaluate curriculum and AI-generated lessons10:08 — Reason 5: Build a common professional language12:31 — Explicit instruction is a foundation, not a restriction14:55 — Better Teaching outroShow NotesGene Tavernetti helps educators strengthen explicit instruction, lesson design, and instructional coaching.Gene's website: tesscg.comGene's books include Teach Fast, Focus, Adaptable Structured Teaching and Maximizing the Impact of Coaching Cycles.Follow Gene on Bluesky and X: @gtavernetti This podcast sponsored by:The Bell Ringer, a weekly newsletter providing news, tools, and resources on the science of learning, written by education reporter Holly Korbey. EPISODE 760 - Bill Haase - Our Mindset on Money - It's Easy to Control, So Why, Impact over IncomeIn this episode, Bill Haase shares a deeply personal and practical conversation about money, mindset, and the life experiences that shape how we handle both. Drawing from decades in finance and his own financial سقوط and recovery, Bill brings a grounded perspective to a topic many people avoid discussing.Bill explains how his work intersects with broader mindset principles, especially through partnerships that address both the emotional and financial sides of major life transitions like leaving the military. He highlights that money concerns and mental well-being are often tightly connected, and addressing both is key to long-term stability.A major theme in this conversation is the reality that writing a book or building credibility is just the beginning. Bill emphasizes that success comes from treating your work as a tool, not just a title, and being prepared to promote, refine, and build a team around your efforts. He opens up about a pivotal moment in his life when a series of financial setbacks led to losing his home. Rather than avoiding responsibility, Bill chose to face the consequences, learn from the experience, and rebuild. That journey now fuels his mission to teach financial literacy and help others avoid similar pitfalls.Throughout the episode, Bill challenges common financial habits. He breaks down the difference between good debt and bad debt, explains how everyday spending decisions quietly drain resources, and highlights how perception and status often drive poor financial choices. From car loans to daily coffee purchases, small decisions compound into long-term consequences.Bill also explores practical strategies for regaining control, including understanding your spending through budgeting and choosing a debt repayment method that works for you. More importantly, he emphasizes awareness, questioning purchases, and shifting from impulsive spending to intentional decision-making.At its core, this episode is about freedom. Bill makes a compelling case that when you take control of your finances, you reduce stress, improve relationships, and open yourself up to a fuller experience of life. Financial literacy is not just about money, it is about clarity, confidence, and creating space for what truly matters.Key takeaway: When you take control of your money with awareness and intention, you gain control of your life, your choices, and your future.https://billhaase.com/Support the show___https://livingthenextchapter.com/podcast produced by: https://truemediasolutions.ca/Coffee Refills are always appreciated, refill Dave's cup here, and thanks!https://buymeacoffee.com/truemediaca

Pornography addiction isn't a willpower problem. It's a brain problem and, understanding the mechanics changes everything about how you fight it. Today, we go deep into the neuroscience: what edging actually does to your reward system, why desensitization and hypo-frontality reshape how your brain processes stress and pleasure, and why getting exactly what you want can leave you more depressed than before you started. We also unpack what "Rat Park" study reveals about addiction and isolation, and why the opposite of sobriety isn't willpower; it's connection. My guest, Sathiya Sam, and I go beyond the behavior to the coping mechanism underneath it, what porn is really substituting for, what predicts who struggles with it, and why quitting cold turkey rarely works without addressing the root. You'll learn the real skills required to overcome it, why a satisfied heart rarely wanders, and how to build an identity that doesn't need to prove itself through control or escape. If you've ever wondered what's actually happening in your brain when you engage — or how to build something stronger in its place — this episode gives you the science and the path forward. America has beaten anti-black racism so badly the market is dry. Each hoax is proof. Texas Roadhouse is the latest hoax to celebrate. A Facebook ghost named Nancy Smith posted that cooks and servers were licking fingers and putting them on black people's food. No city. No store. No cook. The account vanished. Jason Whitlock calls it the Nolan Wells standard: The accusation is the evidence. Then April Chapman joins "Harmony" on the boycott, the BET package, and why a dry market manufactures the product. Welcome back to Impact Theory. In today's episode, I dive deep into the wild ride happening right now in the bond market and what it means for the future of the US dollar and the global economy. The conversation focused on the so-called “resource curse”—comparing America's role as issuer of the world's reserve currency to regions that failed to capitalize on their natural resources, and questioning if this privilege is actually a double-edged sword. One concept discussed is whether the benefits the US has reaped from dollar dominance have led us into fiscal irresponsibility and a dangerous dependence on selling money to the world instead of making real things at home. A key theme that emerged is how government strategies—like moving debt from long-term to short-term, flirting with yield curve control, and leveraging emerging tools like stablecoins—are designed to manage mounting debt but could have far-reaching consequences for people's savings, investments, and the country's economic future. The discussion explored how inflation, rising interest payments, and global moves away from the dollar are creating new risks and uncertainties, especially for retirees and ordinary investors. Several points were raised, including the critical impact of trust in US debt, the erosion of manufacturing capacity, and whether these fiscal maneuvers are buying time or simply delaying a reckoning. Get ready for a no-holds-barred look at what's happening behind the scenes—because understanding these moves is key to protecting your personal and financial future. What's up, everybody? Important Quotes from the podcast on Business and Entrepreneurship There is no skill called “business.” Avoid business magazines and business classes. - Naval Ravikant You have to work up to the point where you can own equity in a business. You could own equity as a small shareholder where you bought stock. You could also own it as an owner where you started the company. Ownership is really important. You've probably heard that you need to solve a problem for your readers. That's good advice. But here's the question I wish more aspiring authors would ask before they start writing. Does your ideal reader know they have that problem? Some problems are obvious. Others aren't. Your reader may be frustrated, stuck, or dissatisfied without realizing what's actually causing it. If your book is written for someone who doesn't recognize the problem you're solving, your message may never land the way you intended. That's why understanding your audience matters so much. You need to know how they describe their challenges, what they're already searching for, and whether they're actively looking for a solution. Sometimes the book you want to write isn't the book your audience is ready to read. These are exactly the kinds of conversations we have in the Author ROI Lab. Before you spend months writing a book, we'll help you think through who your ideal reader is, whether your message will resonate with them, and how your book can support your business goals.
