Fostering a space for health and connection through shared vulnerability.
Hi friends! It has been a little bit - I recorded this episode with Carrie months ago, and school/life provided some barriers to getting it edited. And here we are! Such a fun conversation with a really awesome person. Carrie became licensed as a Family Medicine physician, then listened to a calling of something more. We talk about how movement, and specifically exercise, can act as a vehicle to listen to your body/intuition, and then act in clarity through this movement. - Michael
Lisa is for sure in my top 3 favorite sisters of all time. I love her with my whole heart, and here we get to meet her first child, my nephew, Liam. We talk through her experience with pregnancy, particularly highlighting how intentional she was to advocate for her values as a mother bringing life into this world. This relationship with her-Self began far before pregnancy, and ultimately I believe is the answer to our failure as a medical system to mitigate chronic disease.
Dr. John Mulder is a palliative care physician that has had an extensive career providing care to individuals with chronic and terminal illnesses. Through this, he has gained a unique perspective on what it means to live and how we can bring this to all people regardless of what stage of life they are in. And it can start with such a simply powerful question such as, "What is sacred to you?" Thanks for tuning in! - Michael
Dr. Angie Thompson-Busch is a board-certified pediatric physician who currently serves as Community Assistant Dean at Michigan State College of Human Medicine. We discuss her path through medicine, our shared love for the pediatric population, and the importance of acknowledging challenging emotions while navigating a career through medicine.
A meditation to remember that it is okay to... say what you want to say, express how you want to express, feel how you want to feel, love how you want to love, show up how you want to show up, dress how you want to dress, be how you want to be... all you need do is remember that your true Self is always here. A life dedicated to remembering all that I ever am is right here.
Taking a moment to share the darker side of my journey and where I've been these recent months. It is all a part of the dance.
I am very happy to welcome Wesley Swartz for the first segment of what I am calling “Deep Breath,” where I will have conversations with guests exploring various topics surrounding health and wellness. Wesley is a fellow medical student at Michigan State, and so much more. From bagpipes to backpacking, he truly is one of the most fascinating individuals I have ever encountered. Through our conversation we explore… - The importance of intention in getting what you want to get out of life - Why do we have resistance towards being our authentic selves - The small decisions you make on a daily basis are what define your life - Wesley's 3 virtues that will give anyone success and enrichment out of life I hope you are able to lose yourself in the conversation as much as I did. Much love!
The first tool of our collective toolkit! I call it... my mason jar! We can use this to find clarity amongst a spiraling, confused, and cloudy mind.
A meditation for the darkest of days, inside or out.
