What links certain mathematical models of traffic flow, shallow-water waves, and quantum particle scattering? The surprising answer lies in a corner of the algebraic combinatorics world that goes by the name of positive Grassmannian. In simple terms, the positive Grassmannian is a shape that classifies other shapes. Remarkably, pieces of the positive Grassmannian can be reassembled in forms that reveal shared structures in these and many other seemingly unrelated mathematical systems. That we know the positive Grassmannian crops up in many real-world settings is largely down to the theoretical work of Lauren Williams at Harvard University. In this latest episode of The Joy of Why, Williams talks to co-host Steven Strogatz about her work, how she realized the surprising pervasiveness of the positive Grassmannian, and how she has made a career of finding connections among fields that don't at first sight seem connected. The conversation then switches to another project Williams is working on, called First Proof, which is trying to measure objectively how good AI systems are at coming up with proofs of research-level mathematical statements, and which leads to an exploration of whether AI may or may not take over mathematics. Note: Since this conversation was recorded, results from the First Proof, Second Batch project were released on June 10 2026.

Send us a text if you want to be on the Podcast & explain why!Want to become a successful personal trainer? SUF CPT, SUF STM, SUF NC will help trainers build the streams of revenue, confidence and teams to become successful making over $100,000/ year.Random circuits look creative, but they usually produce one thing fast: tired clients who are not getting stronger. We break down a clean, repeatable way to design small group training programs using movement patterns and a simple circuit template (CCA) that you can run in almost any environment, from a fully equipped gym like Lifetime or Equinox to a smaller studio with limited stations. If you coach personal training and want better flow, better progressions, and fewer “what do I do next?” moments, this is your playbook. We talk through how to build full body strength sessions even when clients think they only want glutes, abs, or arms. The secret is pairing core lifts with accessories that do not steal force production from the main pattern. You will hear practical examples for groups of three where everyone shares the same squat, pull, and plank patterns, plus ways to swap variations when you do not have enough racks or pull-up bars. We also cover rotating stations, where the coaching focus goes, and how to keep accessories engaging without turning the workout into a circus. Then we get honest about a common mistake in small group fitness classes: mixing heavy lifting with early cardio. When conditioning comes first, strength output drops, loads drop, and results slow down. We explain how to place jumps and power work for fast twitch recruitment, when to save cardio for a game or a finisher, and how to make five-person circuits work without compromising performance. Finally, we zoom out to programming systems like progressive overload, simple testing on day one and day 30, and monthly templates that help clients chase PRs and stay bought in.If you found this helpful, subscribe, share it with a trainer friend, and leave a review with your biggest small group training challenge so we can tackle it next.Want to become a SUCCESSFUL personal trainer? I almost didn't record this episode. Not because I didn't think it would help you. Because it's so simple I wondered if you'd even believe me when I told you it works. Here's the truth. The things that come the easiest to you, the things you almost feel guilty charging for because they require zero effort on your part, that's your zone of genius. And it's exactly what your people need more of. We get so busy watching what everyone else is doing that we talk ourselves out of the very thing that comes naturally to us, because it feels too easy to be valuable. It's not. Easy for you is exactly what someone else is praying for. In this episode I'm walking you through that lesson, and then I'm handing you the actual structure I use to stay focused enough to build the business I'm building. Because here's what nobody tells you. Before you need a new strategy, you need a relentless standard for where your focus goes. You have to know your bigger points of focus, what you actually want over the next thirty to ninety days, because that decision dictates how you show up every single day after it. I share the exact system I use. A running note on my phone with my points of focus at the top so I see them multiple times a day, and then Monday through Friday laid out underneath it. Not a rigid script for what you do every hour. A rhythm. Certain days for certain kinds of work, so you stop trying to be your own HR department, content team, copywriter, marketer, and salesperson all before 10am on a Tuesday. The version of you who's already holding the business you want isn't doing it that way. She knows who she is. She knows where she's going. And practically, day to day, she's not getting swept up in someone else's content for an hour before she's even opened her own laptop. She's protecting her focus like it's the asset it is. We have to set our business up now the way we want it running in six months. That starts with how we spend today. Takeaway: Your standards for your focus come before any structure. Decide your points of focus for the next 30 to 90 days, then build your week around protecting them.

Send us Fan MailThis video is about My Feedback can be difficult to hear, especially when it conflicts with how you see yourself. You believe you are confident, but someone describes you as dismissive. You consider yourself collaborative, yet colleagues experience you as closed off. You think you are being decisive, but your team sees you as unwilling to listen. That disconnect may feel unfair. However, it can also reveal one of the most important factors affecting your leadership growth: the gap between what you intend and what other people experience. In this episode of The Mid-Career GPS Podcast, I examine how the leadership perception gap can influence your reputation, professional relationships, promotion opportunities, and career advancement.I am recording this episode after delivering the closing keynote at NextUp's Rising Stars Conference, where participants used feedback from a 360 assessment to strengthen their leadership development. That experience reinforced something I see repeatedly in my coaching and speaking work. Most mid-career professionals do not lack skill, experience, or commitment. What they often lack is accurate, actionable feedback from people they trust. Why Self-Awareness Matters for Career AdvancementLeadership is not defined solely by what you intend. It is also defined by what other people experience when they work with you.You may intend to challenge your team, but they experience you as overly critical. You may intend to give people autonomy, but they experience a lack of support. You may intend to demonstrate confidence, but others experience you as unwilling to consider different perspectives.Your intentions matter, but they do not erase the impact of your behavior. This is why leadership self-awareness is essential for anyone seeking a promotion, greater influence, or a more strategic role. You cannot close a perception gap you are unwilling to examine. Why “You're Doing Great” Can Stall Your CareerSome of the most limiting feedback mid-career professionals receive sounds positive.“You're doing great.”“Keep doing what you're doing.”“You're reliable.”“We can always count on you.”These statements may be sincere, but they do not necessarily help you grow.Being reliable, trusted, and busy does not automatically mean you are viewed as influential, strategic, or ready for the next level of leadership. Vague praise can prevent you from identifying the behavior changes required to advance your career. In this episode, I explain how to look beneath general compliments and ask better questions about your leadership effectiveness, visibility, and readiness for greater responsibility. How to Process Difficult Feedback Without Becoming DefensiveTough feedback can trigger embarrassment, frustration, anger, or self-doubt. It is easy to dismiss the feedback, question the other person's motives, or immediately defend your intentions.Instead, I share a practical process for evaluating feedback more objectively:Pause before responding.Treat the feedback as a data point rather than an absolute truth.Separate your emotional reaction from the information being offered.Look for patterns across different people and situations.Identify what the behavior may be costing you.Choose one specific behavior to change. One person's opinion may be an outlier. When several people describe a similar experience, however, you have a pattern worth examining. The goal is not to change everything about yourself. The goal is to identify one behavior that could improve your leadership presence, relationships, credibility, or promotion readiness. How to Get 360-Style Feedback Without a Formal AssessmentYou do not need access to a formal 360 leadership assessment to receive valuable feedback. You can begin by having intentional conversations with your manager, peers, direct reports, mentors, former colleagues, and trusted professional contacts. The key is to speak with people who will offer honest insight rather than simply validate what you already believe.Consider asking questions such as:What is one leadership strength I should continue using? What is one behavior that may be limiting my effectiveness? When have you seen me at my best as a leader? What do I do that may make it harder for people to work with me?What would I need to demonstrate for you to see me as ready for the next level?Do not collect feedback merely to prove that you are doing well. Use it to understand how others experience your leadership and where a small change could create a meaningful difference. In This Episode, You Will Learn:Why unclear feedback can create confusion and stall leadership developmentHow 360 assessments reveal leadership strengths and perception gapsWhy leadership is shaped by what people experience, not only by what you intendHow positive but vague feedback can quietly limit career advancementWhy reliability, trust, and busyness are not the same as influence and strategic valueHow defensiveness and poorly delivered feedback prevent meaningful growthHow to decode vague praise that may signal a leadership limitationA step-by-step process for responding to difficult feedbackHow to identify patterns instead of overreacting to one person's opinionHow to gather honest, 360-style input without using a formal assessmentHow changing one behavior can improve your leadership reputation and career opportunitiesBuild the Leadership Reputation You WantThe feedback that frustrates you most may contain the insight you need most. You do not have to agree with every comment you receive. You do need to remain curious about the patterns shaping how others experience you. When you learn how to separate intention from impact, you can make more strategic decisions about how you communicate, lead, and show up at work. That self-awareness can help you strengthen your professional relationships, increase your influence, and position yourself for your next career opportunity.Listen to this episode and identify one perception gap that may be affecting how you are seen when you are not in the room.Bring This Conversation to Your OrganizationI speak to organizations and professional associations about career advancement, leadership effectiveness, communication, and how we SHOW UP at work.If you know an organization that is looking for a keynote speaker or workshop facilitator, I would appreciate an introduction. Embracing Creativity, Non-Linear Thinking and Doing Business Your Way, with Heather EbanksSeason 11, Episode 90: Show Up and Be HeardToday's episode of the podcast is an interview with Heather Ebanks, graphic designer and host of the Creatively Eccentric podcast. In this conversation, Heather and I chat about what it really means to embrace creativity, challenge traditional definitions of success, and stop trying to force ourselves into business models that don't fit.We explore how creativity isn't just about being artistic, why some of our biggest strengths can come from thinking differently, and how stepping away from the noise can often be the key to finding clarity. We also dive into imposter syndrome, failure, community, and the importance of trusting yourself instead of constantly looking outside of yourself for answers.BOSS THINGS YOU'LL LEARN IF YOU TUNE IN:Practical ways to quiet the noise, overcome overwhelm, and reconnect with your ideasWhy failure isn't something to fear and how to reframe it as part of the processWhy creativity is so much bigger than art, design, or being "naturally creative"If you enjoyed this episode or found it useful, then I would really appreciate if you could take just a few minutes to give it a review on whatever platform you are listening on - because every one I get really does make me do a little squeal and a happy dance!ABOUT HEATHER:Heather Ebanks is a Graphic Designer and the host of the Creatively Eccentric Podcast—a platform for bold voices, messy journeys, and zero apologies. She explores what happens when creatives stop trying to fit into systems that were never designed for them and start defining success on their own terms.Through raw, reflective conversations, Heather amplifies unconventional and underrepresented creators—diving into the realities of rejection, reinvention, and building a creative life that doesn't follow the rules. Her work supports women who feel overwhelmed, scattered, or “too much,” helping them realise those very traits are their advantage. At its core, Creatively Eccentric is about embracing uniqueness, challenging expectations, and proving that there is no single way to be a creative—or to succeed.LINKS YOU DEFINITELY WANT TO CHECK OUT:Connect with Heather on Instagram or LinkedInCheck out Heather's websiteListen to Heather's podcastFind out more about and sign up for Boss Your Socials ClubCONNECT WITH BECCI:Connect with Becci on Instagram, LinkedIn or FacebookJoin Becci's email communityIF YOU LOVED THIS, YOU'LL ALSO LOVE:The truth about imposter syndrome and self doubt, with Laura BremnerEPISODE TRANSCRIPTTap to downloadThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podcorn - https://podcorn.com/privacy
An eighty-four-year-old woman with no known cryptocurrency was allegedly taken from her home in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Tucson. A six-million-dollar Bitcoin ransom was demanded. A two-billion-dollar cybersecurity firm called it a wrench attack by proxy — a classification that raises a question nobody else has asked publicly. What if the attackers had the wrong house? What if someone else in Catalina Foothills — someone with the kind of crypto holdings that draw a six-million-dollar demand — was the intended target? And what if Nancy Guthrie, who answered her door that night, was never supposed to be part of this at all?CertiK used the term proxy target selection. Volunteers in Mexico have turned up twenty-five unmarked graves in the border region. Retired FBI agents have identified the reservation as a plausible route south. DNA evidence is at the FBI lab. The sheriff is facing a recall. And if the wrong-house theory holds, the person the attackers were actually looking for may still be living in that neighborhood. Gabrielle Murabito of Reveel & Gloria Seckler of GOAT Group talk about anomaly detection; data & visibility; & why automation is key to finding issues early. IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS: [02.42] An introduction to Gabrielle, her background and role at Reveel; and a reminder of who Reveel are, what they do, and their customer profile. "We help shippers level the playing field with their carriers, and understand where their spend is going across all modes of transportation." [04.22] An introduction to Gloria, and GOAT Group. [05.18] What anomaly detection means in a shipping context. "It's having the systems and models in place to understand what that baseline looks like so you're able to detect surges, whether they're up or down, before they snowball." [06.30] Why anomaly detection is such a challenge, and the impact early anomaly detection could have for businesses. "When we're talking about hundreds of thousands of packages shipped on a monthly basis, a lot of times anomalies are hidden between the averages… But that 1% can scale and turn into losses in profit margin or customer satisfaction – so it's really important to catch them early." [08.08] The vast amounts of data involved in large volume shipping, why 'you don't know what you don't know,' and the importance of automation to identify problems early. "Teams can't manually audit every invoice that comes through, especially if they're a large volume shipper… And a lot of issues aren't obvious. So, without any type of automation, they're really hard to catch." "Early anomaly detection expands your visibility into those 'unknown unknowns'." [09.46] Real-world examples of hidden anomalies that could impact your business. [11.25] How Reveel capabilities help GOAT Group with anomaly detection. [13.10] A recent challenge GOAT experienced with FedEx packages, and exactly how that issue was identified. [15.33] The potential business impact if that FedEx issue wasn't identified so quickly. "The speed with which we can pinpoint issues is super important." [17.07] Whether a company could ever catch an anomaly like this without a solution like 'Weekly Insights' from Reveel. [18.44] How Reveel insights helped GOAT resolve the FedEx issue, and the importance of collaboration and feedback. "Instead of spending time finding the issue, you spend time finding a solution." [20.44] From identifying trends to asking the right questions, Gabrielle and Gloria's advice for shippers who may not have access to the kind of data Reveel provides. [22.11] The big potential in AI for the future. RESOURCES AND LINKS MENTIONED: Head over to Reveel's website now to find out more and discover how they could help you too. In this episode of GuyShrink, host Bill Roman sits down with fitness coach Ricky May of Perrysburg, Ohio, for a wide-ranging conversation on building real strength—physical and mental. Ricky shares how he went from an average high school athlete to a full-time coach, and why showing up and following a plan beats wandering the gym aimlessly. They dig into beating gym comparison ("comparison is the thief of joy"), reframing motivation (you don't wait to feel like it—you just go, like brushing your teeth), and the "Rule of Five" that takes the pressure off having a perfect workout every time. Ricky also unpacks his "tactical retreat" philosophy—knowing when to step back and recover, whether after a life crisis or just a tough training block. The two also explore nutrition as a relationship rather than a fad diet (small, sustainable changes over restriction), what it really means to "listen to your body," and how action can be an antidote to anxiety and despair. Ricky closes with simple, doable advice: start with steps, keep a food diary, and focus on being just 1% better every day. Whether you're a seasoned lifter or someone intimidated to start, this episode is full of practical, encouraging guidance. Find Ricky on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook @RickieLeeMay. If the thought of recording a video makes your heart race, you're not alone. I remember being terrified of showing up on camera. I overthought every word, worried about how I looked, and questioned whether anyone would even watch. But here's what I learned: The clients you're meant to help are on the other side of that fear. And in 2026, video is no longer optional. We're living in a time where trust matters more than ever. People have been over-marketed to, over-promised to, and overwhelmed by content. They want to know who they're learning from. They want to hear your voice, understand your perspective, and feel connected to the person behind the message. In this episode, I'm breaking down why video has become one of the biggest non-negotiables for coaches, how to overcome camera fear, the difference between short-form and long-form content, and the five videos every coach should have in their business. Because your future clients are watching. The question is: are you showing up? In This Episode, We Cover: • Why video is non-negotiable in 2026 • How to overcome the fear of being on camera • The impact of the current "trust recession" • Why AI makes authentic video content more important than ever • The difference between short-form and long-form video • How webinars help convert viewers into clients • The five essential videos every coach should create • How to repurpose one video into multiple pieces of content • Why consistency matters more than perfection • Simple steps to start showing up on video today A Message I Want You to Hear You do not need perfect lighting. You do not need the perfect script. You do not need the perfect camera. You need to start. Because confidence doesn't come before action. Confidence comes from taking action over and over again. Your future clients aren't waiting for a polished version of you someday. They're waiting for you right now. Why Video Is Non-Negotiable in 2026 We are living in what many experts call a "trust recession." People understand marketing. They know what funnels are. They know when they're being sold to. And with AI making content creation easier than ever, people are craving something real. They want to see the person behind the content. Video creates trust faster than almost any other format because people can hear your voice, experience your energy, and connect with your message. How to Get Over Camera Fear Every coach feels awkward at first. The key is not waiting for the fear to disappear. It's taking action anyway. A few simple tips: • Record and post before overanalyzing • Focus on serving instead of performing • Imagine talking to one ideal client • Use notes or slides if they help you stay focused • Remember that nobody starts as an expert on camera The more you show up, the easier it becomes. Short-Form vs. Long-Form Video Both formats serve different purposes. Short-Form Video Platforms include: • Instagram Reels • TikTok • YouTube Shorts Best for: • Quick tips • Myth busting • Mindset shifts • Visibility and reach These videos are typically one to three minutes long. Long-Form Video Platforms include: • YouTube • Podcast videos • Webinar replays • Masterclasses Best for: • Building trust • Teaching your method • Demonstrating expertise • Converting viewers into clients Long-form content allows people to spend more time with you and understand your approach. Why Webinars Convert So Well Webinars remain one of the highest-converting forms of video content. A strong webinar should: • Share your story • Teach something useful • Address the real problem your audience faces • Handle common objections • Include one clear call to action The goal isn't to overwhelm people with information. The goal is to help them understand why your solution works. The 5 Videos Every Coach Needs 1. Your Origin Story Why do you do this work? What experiences led you here? This is the video that helps people connect with you emotionally. 2. Your Signature Talk Explain your unique framework, process, or philosophy. Focus on the transformation you help create—not the features of your program. 3. The Biggest Mistake Share the most common mistake your ideal client is making. Help them see what they can't currently see. 4. A Client Success Story Walk people through a real transformation. Show the challenges, breakthroughs, and outcomes. Stories build trust. 5. FAQ and Objection Buster Answer questions like: • Is this right for me? • How long does it take? • Why does this work? • What makes your approach different? This content can help sell for you 24/7. One Video Can Create a Week of Content A single long-form video can become: • Reels • Social posts • Email newsletters • YouTube content • Podcast episodes • Blog posts Instead of constantly creating from scratch, one piece of content can fuel your entire marketing strategy. Your Action Step This week, choose one of the five video types: • Origin Story • Signature Talk • Biggest Mistake • Client Success Story • FAQ Buster Record it. Don't wait for perfection. Post it. Then repurpose it into multiple pieces of content. Because the only way to become comfortable on video is to start using your voice. Final Thoughts You have something worth saying. Your audience needs your message. And there is someone right now searching for the exact solution you provide. Don't hide behind more certifications. Don't spend six hours adjusting Canva templates. Don't wait until you feel ready. Show up. Press record. And trust that your voice matters. Resources Are you a health coach in need of done-for-you content? David Homan believes that relationships are the foundation of every opportunity, and this conversation is a masterclass in what that actually means. David, the CEO of Orchestrated Connecting, joins us to share how a career that began in music and the arts eventually led him to build a global community centered on authentic connection. From unexpected opportunities that started with something as simple as lending a friend a vacuum cleaner, to helping connect people across industries, David explains why generosity and trust consistently outperform transactional networking. We also dive into the role of consent in networking, the difference between meaningful relationship-building and cold outreach, and why David believes the future of AI should strengthen authentic human connections rather than replace them. Along the way, we talk about Broadway, community building, social media, creative careers, and the idea that success often comes not from who can help you, but from helping someone who can help someone else. If you've ever wondered how opportunities seem to find certain people, this episode offers a fresh perspective on creating your own "structured serendipity." Connect with David:

She talks about facing fear with compassion, making tiny shifts toward alignment, and discovering that love is a universal protocol that works in the boardroom and the bedroom, in parenting and in marriage. The roadblocks are comparison and fear, but the tools are practical: self-discovery and the willingness to show up as yourself, fully aligned, in every relationship that matters.Connect with Jan:Get her book, Bedroom Etiquette: How to Show Up Well Behind Closed Doors: amazon.com/Bedroom-Etiquette-Behind-Closed-Doors/dp/B0DXV7W8S1?tag=syty-20ShowUpWell.comInstagram: instagram.com/showupwellLinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/showupwellReferenced in this Episode:A Course in Miracles Links:amazon.com/Course-Miracles-Combined-Quality/dp/1883360242?tag=syty-20marianne.com/acim/apps.apple.com/us/app/acim-remind/id737568020________________________________________________________________________________________Connect with Wendy:LinkedinInstagram: @wendy.harropFacebook: Phineas Wright HouseWebsite: Phineas Wright House PWH Farm StaysPWH Curated Experience and TravelInterested in being a guest on the show? Send us Fan MailWhat if the biggest risk to your career isn't getting laid off, but assuming someone else is responsible for your growth? For years, many professionals were told that if they worked hard, stayed loyal, and delivered results, their company would invest in their development and help them advance. Today's workplace looks very different. With AI reshaping jobs, organizations cutting budgets, and professional development often treated as optional, waiting for someone else to guide your growth can leave you stuck, overlooked, and vulnerable. In this episode, I challenge the outdated belief that your employer is responsible for your career development. I share why taking ownership of your growth is one of the most important leadership decisions you can make and how investing in yourself can create opportunities that waiting never will.We also explore why consuming endless free content is not enough to move your career forward. Podcasts, newsletters, YouTube videos, and AI tools can provide valuable insights, but real career advancement comes from implementation. Knowledge without action rarely produces results. To help you make smarter professional development decisions, I introduce a practical framework built around three key criteria: relevance, application, and proximity. Whether you're considering a conference, coaching program, certification, mastermind, or membership community, this framework will help you determine what is most likely to create meaningful return on your investment. If you're a mid-career professional who feels undervalued, underutilized, or uncertain about what's next, this episode will help you rethink how you approach your professional growth and position yourself for future opportunities. In This Episode, You'll Learn:Why career growth is shifting from company-led development to personal ownershipHow budget cuts often make development optional while performance expectations remain unchangedWhy AI is increasing the value of strategic thinking, leadership, and higher-level problem solvingThe hidden cost of doing nothing and why standing still can make you easier to replaceWhy implementation matters more than consuming more free contentThe three criteria for evaluating professional development opportunities: relevance, application, and proximityHow to choose the right development container for your current career stageHow to confidently answer the interview question, "What are you doing to develop yourself?"This Episode Is Perfect For:Mid-career professionals seeking career clarityLeaders who want to increase their impact and visibilityProfessionals feeling stuck, overlooked, or underutilizedJob seekers navigating a competitive job marketAnyone looking to future-proof their career in an AI-driven workplaceKey TakeawayNo company cares more about your career than you do. The professionals who continue to grow, advance, and create opportunities for themselves are the ones who take ownership of their development. Your future success depends less on what your employer provides and more on what you choose to invest in yourself.Support the showIf this episode resonated with you and you want more support in how you SHOW UP for your career and life, I want to invite you to join the SHOW UP Leadership Lab. In this episode, I talk about one of the most common questions I hear from women with chronic migraines: “Does anyone else here also have fibromyalgia?” I explain why I don't see these as two separate problems happening at the same time, but as two expressions of the same deeper issue in the body. I walk through the connection between widespread pain, migraines, substance P, and what I believe is really going on underneath both conditions. If you've ever felt like you were unlucky enough to have both, this episode will give you a very different and much more hopeful way to understand your symptoms. Send us Fan MailThere's a calm, grounded version of you that you trust and then there's the version that shows up when pressure hits and you don't even feel like you chose it. We're Marc and Teresa, and we're digging into why that happens, how your brain grabs familiar stories under stress, and how to close the gap between who you are in comfort and who you want to be when it counts. We talk about how identity labels trap us (“I'm just an angry person”), why reactions are often a perspective problem rather than a discipline problem, and how one split-second thought can hijack your tone, your leadership presence, and your relationships. Mark shares an embarrassing but honest breaking point story that became a lifelong reminder: the issue isn't knowing better, it's that “knowing” stops working when emotion takes the wheel. From leadership coaching to parenting to marriage, we break down why you can be composed with a client yet reactive with family, how belief systems and expectations shape your default, and why chasing tactics and scripts won't fix an internal mindset issue. We also introduce the idea of capacity: the skill of holding competing priorities and choosing your response on purpose. You'll walk away with a simple question to use in real time: “How can I be most effective right now?”If this helps, subscribe to Modern Leadership Coaching, share it with someone who leads under pressure, and leave a review so more people can find it. Watching the World Cup come to Dallas this year gave me a front-row seat to something most of us miss in our daily lives: the things we take for granted are literally blowing people's minds from across the globe. In this episode, I break down three sharp lessons the World Cup is teaching me about gratitude, commitment, and competing with respect. The peace you find somewhere else is the peace you brought with you, and if you want proof, just watch a guy from Italy lose his mind over free refills. This one will make you rethink where you are, how you show up, and who you keep showing up for. Key Takeaways The happiness and opportunity you think exists somewhere else is already available where you are. Change your lens before you change your location. The peace you find at the top of a mountain is the peace you brought there. Who you are follows you everywhere. If something truly matters to people, they will sacrifice and show up for it. That standard applies to how you show up for yourself too. You are the most neglected person in your own calendar. Blocking time for yourself is not optional. It is the foundation of showing up for everyone else. Competing with respect means recognizing that most people are chasing the same core goals. Celebrate differences without losing sight of shared purpose. Action Steps Identify one thing in your immediate life you have been overlooking or taking for granted, and spend five minutes today acknowledging its value. Block a recurring time on your calendar this week that is exclusively for you. Treat it with the same weight you would give a meeting with someone you deeply respect. Before your next competitive or high-stakes situation, find one thing to genuinely respect about the person or team across from you and let that shape how you engage. Notable Quote The peace you find at the top of a mountain is the peace that you brought there. Who you are is how it's going to be wherever you are.

LEARN HOW TO JOURNALSPEAK In this episode, we dive into what it really means to move through life in alignment, especially when stress, symptoms, anxiety, and overwhelm are all trying to pull you into fear. I share a recent experience from my own life, during a season of major transition, travel, work, family milestones, and my youngest child graduating high school, when a strange new neuropathy-like sensation showed up in my face. Instead of spiraling, Dr. Googling (or Dr. ChatGPTing!), or giving the symptom a terrifying meaning, I used it as an opportunity to practice the work in real time: pausing, noticing, refusing to meet it with fear, and asking what my body might actually be trying to communicate. What came through was not danger, but a need for tenderness, self-compassion, and a gentler way of being with myself. I also share the story of sitting with a dear friend who is struggling with POTS, chronic fatigue, dizziness, nausea, and intense nervous system symptoms, and what happened when she was willing to meet those sensations differently. Rather than collapse into the first reaction of terror, she practiced sitting up, letting the symptoms be there, and discovering that uncomfortable does not have to mean unsafe. This episode is about the life-changing power of the pause between your first reaction and your second one. Your first reaction may be a reflex, shaped by everything you have lived, but your second reaction is where your agency lives. When we stop running from symptoms and begin meeting them with curiosity, compassion, and steadiness, we teach the nervous system that we are safe. Join us! XOOX n. Most changemakers don't need more content strategies. They need the confidence and clarity to share what they already know.In this episode of the Online Expert Series, Adina explores one of the biggest barriers holding mission-led entrepreneurs back from building influential online brands: visibility.Because creating content isn't really about algorithms, followers, or going viral. It's about sharing your expertise, perspective, and message with the people who need it most.Whether you're a social entrepreneur, nonprofit leader, advocate, consultant, coach, or mission-driven expert, your voice matters. And in a world where individuals increasingly shape conversations, culture, and change, staying invisible comes at a cost. This episode breaks down how changemakers can approach content differently - through authenticity, service, thought leadership, and strategic visibility. In This Episode, You'll Learn:✨ Why changemakers often struggle more with visibility than content strategy✨ The mindset shift that helps overcome self-doubt and fear of showing up online✨ Why you don't need a massive audience, viral posts, or flashy marketing to create meaningful impact✨ How positioning, messaging, and content work together to grow your brand✨ The power of storytelling in building trust and connection✨ Why taking a stand can become one of your most effective content strategies✨ How content serves as ongoing market research to refine your positioning and messaging✨ The two essential components of a successful content strategyKey TakeawaysContent is where your positioning and messaging come to life.Visibility is often a bigger challenge than strategy.Your expertise and lived experience are uniquely valuable.Authentic content starts with alignment to your values.Storytelling creates trust, connection, and influence.Taking a stand helps differentiate your brand and deepen your impact. You do not need a large audience to create meaningful change. The future belongs to changemakers willing to lead publicly. The Two Pillars of Changemaker Content Strategy1. In this episode, DairyVoice Host Connie Kuber of Sealpro Silage Barrier Films by Connor AgriScience talks with Tyler Dickerhoof. The book explores what many leaders quietly wrestle with: insecurity, identity, and the internal patterns that shape how we lead, build relationships, and show up in life. This especially relates to our dairy farmers and early feedback on his book has been incredibly strong.

Monthly owner calls are often viewed as performance reviews, but Dina Winder sees them differently. As EVP of Asset Management at Highgate and President of the Hospitality Asset Managers Association (HAMA), she believes the most productive conversations focus less on what happened last month and more on what happens next.In this episode, Dina shares how hotel leaders can prepare for owner calls more effectively, why thinking like an owner builds trust and credibility, and how strong operators use 30, 60, and 90-day planning to drive better results. You'll also hear what separates productive ownership conversations from routine reporting and why bringing ideas, solutions, and a willingness to experiment matters more than having all the answers. Many people feel powerless when it comes to environmental issues. Whether it's climate change, habitat destruction, or controversial development projects, it can seem like the biggest decisions are made without public input. But recent protests against proposed AI data centers are reminding us that communities still have influence when people choose to get involved. Across North America, residents have been raising concerns about water use, energy demand, environmental impacts, and transparency surrounding AI data center developments. By attending meetings, contacting elected officials, and organizing locally, communities have forced decision-makers to answer tough questions and, in some cases, rethink projects that once seemed inevitable. The lesson goes far beyond AI. Many of the environmental protections we rely on today exist because ordinary people showed up, spoke up, and demanded better outcomes for nature and their communities. In this episode, we explore why civic engagement remains one of the most powerful conservation tools available and how local action can create meaningful environmental change. Artists don't quit because they lack talent. They quit because somewhere along the way, they lost joy. In this powerful coaching call, Jodie sits down with Honest Art® Society member Cindy Wysocki to talk about consistency, creativity, healing, and the emotional journey of becoming an artist later in life. Cindy shares how she rediscovered painting during a difficult season of life after years of believing she "wasn't artistic enough." As a myofascial release therapist, she also explains the fascinating connection between emotional healing and the creative process. Together, we dive into: How to show up consistently without turning art into a miserable chore Why forcing a style actually blocks your authentic voice The role joy plays in sustaining a long-term art practice If you've ever questioned whether you're "really" an artist, struggled with consistency, or felt overwhelmed by social media and comparison, this episode will feel like a giant exhale. Send us Fan MailOne unexpected phone call can change everything.Sarah White thought she had stability as a restaurant partner. Then she learned her partners had voted without her, planned to sell the business, and were eliminating her role. Instead of scrambling to find her next job, Sarah made a bold mid-career move. She bought them out and took ownership of Westover Taco in Arlington, Virginia. In this episode of The Mid-Career GPS Podcast, I talk with Sarah about what career resilience really looks like when your professional life gets messy. Her story is not just about restaurant ownership. It is about confidence, relationships, decision-making, and building a plan before you need one.Sarah shares the behind-the-scenes reality of running a neighborhood restaurant in a challenging post-COVID economy, including rising food costs, staffing challenges, permits, zoning, licensing, tariffs, and changing wage rules. She also explains the misunderstood reality of tipped wages and how policy changes can affect service, retention, and the customer experience. We also explore how Westover Taco became a women's sports bar almost by accident. What started as Sarah's love of women's sports turned into something bigger: a community gathering place where fans knew the game would be on and where girls could see representation, possibility, and belonging. This conversation is a powerful reminder for mid-career professionals who feel stuck, blindsided, or unsure about their next move. You do not have to wait for disruption to start building your next chapter. In This Episode, You'll Learn:How Sarah responded after being pushed out of a restaurant partnershipWhy ownership became the right move to protect her staff and visionWhat mid-career professionals can learn from business uncertaintyHow relationships and networking helped Sarah move quicklyWhy being “people rich” can create more career optionsHow introverts can build stronger professional relationshipsWhy women's sports representation matters in business and communityHow to start building your career pivot plan before you need itKey TakeawayCareer resilience is not built in the crisis. Guest Rich Gassen has worked at UW-Madison for over 15 years as Production Manager and, more recently, as Director at Digital Publishing and Printing Services. He focuses on empowerment, autonomy, and process improvements with his team. His work mantra has always been "Show Up and Participate," which continues to guide him in his lifelong learning. He also leads a community of practice for supervisors at UW-Madison, focusing on training and development. Summary In this episode, Rich discusses his leadership journey and the principles that guide his work. Drawing on more than 35 years in the printing industry, Rich explains how influential mentors shaped his belief that effective leaders provide both autonomy and support. He recalls a manager who trusted employees to make decisions while remaining available during difficult moments—a model that continues to inform his own leadership style. Rich emphasizes that leadership is fundamentally about people. He believes employees perform best when they feel valued, understood, and connected to the larger purpose of their work. Whether by sharing customer praise, encouraging innovation, or involving staff in major decisions, such as relocating the print shop, he seeks to create an environment where people feel a sense of ownership and agency. A strong advocate for continuous learning, Rich helped build a campus-wide community of practice for supervisors, providing opportunities for networking, book discussions, and professional development. He stresses the importance of listening, asking questions, and resisting the urge to have all the answers. As leaders advance, he argues, their role shifts from solving problems to removing barriers that prevent others from succeeding. Throughout the conversation, Rich highlights transparency, curiosity, and habit-building as essential leadership skills. Ultimately, he sees leadership not as a destination but as an ongoing learning process focused on helping people grow, contribute, and thrive. The Essential Point Great leadership is less about having the answers and more about creating the conditions for others to succeed. Leaders serve their teams best when they listen, build trust, remove obstacles, and help people see the significance of their contributions. Have you ever felt like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? You're showing up for your family, your business, your team, and your community—but deep down, you're running on empty. Maybe you're exhausted. Maybe you're burned out. Maybe you're questioning how much longer you can keep going. My friends, if that's you today, I want you to know something: you're not alone. In this episode, I'm sharing some of the biggest lessons I've learned from walking through one of the hardest seasons of my own life. A season that tested me physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. A season that ultimately strengthened my faith and taught me what true mental toughness is really all about. Because mental toughness isn't about pretending you're okay. It's not about grinding harder or carrying every burden by yourself. It's about staying faithful when life gets hard. Replenishing your body, mind, and spirit when you're running on empty. And it's about trusting that God is preparing you for something greater—even when you can't see it yet. Here's what we'll dive into on this week's IMPACT SHOW podcast: Why strong people burn out too The hidden cost of carrying too much for too long What mental toughness really means when you're in the middle of a storm How faith fuels resilience when motivation disappears Why prayer, scripture, worship, and community matter more than ever during difficult seasons The importance of replenishing your energy, your spirit, and your soul Why you can't pour from an empty cup How to perform a personal life-energy audit The connection between recovery and high performance Why your greatest impact may come after your hardest season A simple 7-Day Recharge Challenge to help you get your mind, body, and spirit back on track A powerful closing prayer to remind us that it's our Faith that feeds your mental toughness One of the questions I ask throughout this episode is this: What burden are you carrying today that was never meant for you to carry alone? Think about that. Because so many of us are trying to be everything for everyone. We're trying to hold it all together. We're trying to fight battles with our own strength. And sometimes the strongest thing we can do is surrender. Sometimes the breakthrough isn't found in doing more. Sometimes it's found in reconnecting to the Source of our strength. My hope is that this episode fills your cup. That it restores some hope. That it reminds you that whatever storm you're facing today is only a season. And that your setback can become your setup. Your pain can become your purpose. And your struggle can become your greatest testimony. Keep the faith. Keep serving. Keep showing up. And remember...the best is yet to come.
