If your mind won't stop spinning during your divorce, replaying the same conversation, jumping from one fear to the next, waking up at 3am convinced something urgently needs to be handled right now, you're not broken and you're not crazy. You're overwhelmed, and that overwhelm can spiral into decisions you'll regret. Karen from Journey Beyond Divorce breaks down what's actually happening in your nervous system when the spiral takes over, why you can't think your way out of it, and the one simple, science-backed shift that can steady you in real time before you send the email, make the call, or say the thing you can't take back. Karen explains why spiraling isn't just anxiety, it's your mind trying to solve ten problems at once, none of which are solvable in that moment. She walks through what happens when your nervous system goes into protective mode and you move from your prefrontal cortex, where clear thinking happens, into fight-or-flight, and why that's the reason spiraling in high-conflict divorce so often hands your ex exactly the ammunition they're looking for. She shares the pause-and-regulate technique she used through her own divorce, along with why fewer inputs and one grounded decision at a time will get you further than every blog, podcast, and Facebook group combined. This episode is for anyone who feels like they're carrying too much at once and needs a clear, practical way back to steady ground. Karen McMahon is the founder of Journey Beyond Divorce and a divorce coach who has spent years helping people move through high-conflict divorce with clarity, steadiness, and strength. When my day gets hijacked (sick kid, surprise meeting, total schedule chaos), the hardest part isn't “fixing the calendar.” It's the executive-function load of holding everything in my head while I try to make decisions, communicate clearly, and not melt down. In this episode, I walk you through the 5 concrete ways I use AI as executive-function scaffolding on a hijacked day so I can externalize the chaos, clarify what actually matters, and sequence my next steps without getting stuck in analysis paralysis. In This Episode, You'll Learn: The 3 roles AI plays for me on chaotic days: externalize, clarify, sequenceHow I use a voice-memo brain dump + AI summary to get the mess out of my head fastHow I ask for a “minimum viable” definition of done when I'm operating at 20% capacity How I use AI to generate 2–3 decision options How I use AI to draft clear reschedule messages (and avoid over-explaining) Resources Mentioned:Ep. 157. Filling in for Boomer & Gio on a wild pre-July 4th show, Jerry and Gordon kick things off by tackling the reigning champion Knicks freezing out a 41-year-old LeBron James, Jaylen Brown's Twitch meltdown over being shipped to Philly, Uruguay's stranded World Cup squad, and Taylor Swift's upcoming 10-hour MSG "wedding" spectacle. The holiday chaos rolls on as Gordon brands soccer a "terrible first draft," the Yankees bleed without Aaron Judge, and Steve Cohen nukes the Mets' clubhouse, all unfolding alongside a Metallica vs. Beach Boys debate, a sneaky prank caller, Jerry's US history quiz, and C-Lo's headlines. Finally, MLB Network's Robert Flores confirms a explosive Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor feud that puts David Stearns on the ultimate hot seat, capping off a chaotic broadcast where Gordon begs for elite Twitter status and furious callers reject aging superstars to declare New York Jalen Brunson's town.

Have you ever had one bad day that suddenly made you question everything? Yesterday, that was me. After my most successful month as an entrepreneur, I found myself crying hysterically, convinced I wasn't doing enough and wondering if I was failing. Looking back, I realized my brain had turned one incredibly stressful day into a story that wasn't fully true. In this solo episode, I'm sharing what happened, the surprising lesson it taught me, and the framework I'm using to move through creative spirals without letting them define me.In this episode, you'll learn:- How to recognize when you're spiraling instead of seeing the full picture-Why your inner critic says the things it does and how to respond with compassion instead of shame-How to separate what's actually happening from the story your brain is telling you-A simple practice that's helping me regain perspective and move forward one step at a timeIf you've been feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or like you're somehow falling behind, I hope this episode reminds you that one hard day doesn't get to write the story of your life.

Every time we open a news app, we are hit with a fresh wave of economic dread. But why does the financial forecast always sound like a pending apocalypse, even when the data tells a remarkably stable story? Longtime Planet Money contributor Alex Mayyasi joins host Zachary Karabell to offer a badly needed dose of fresh air to clear out the oppressive nature of recent economic news.Mayyasi and Karabell look at the very human reasons behind our financial panic. Uncertainty can make you anxious, controlling, and completely exhausted, but staying steady is a skill you can build. Here's the real reason you can't seem to figure out how to deal with uncertainty: you've been taught that calm is a personality trait. Something you either have or you don't. It's not. The people who stay grounded when life blows up the plan didn't win some genetic lottery. They've built a skill. And by the end of this episode, you'll know how to start building it too. Today, I'm talking with executive coach Liz Tran about the agility quotient, the trainable intelligence that helps you stay steady when everything is changing. If the constant churn at work, in your relationships, and in the world has you anxious, overthinking, bracing, or trying to control every possible outcome, this conversation is for you. You'll learn how to build mental toughness from the inside out, how to get out of your comfort zone on purpose, and how to start changing your life even when the future feels uncertain, without pretending you've got it all figured out. In this episode: 04:20: The skill no one taught you, but everyone needs now 08:09: The “third intelligence” that matters when plans fall apart 18:27: The one-question reframe that flips dread into fuel 19:24: Four quiet habits steady people rely on under pressure 29:24: Which “change type” are you? 52:16: Why Googling and doom-scrolling make uncertainty worse 53:11: The boat metaphor that can change your next bad day 1:04:27: What helps kids become resilient instead of brittle If you're tired of living inside the spiral, needing control, asking “why is this happening to me,” and avoiding anything uncomfortable, I really want you to hear this one. The Tim Conway Jr. Show Hour 1 (6.5) Los Angeles had one of those days — wild police pursuits, a stolen pickup truck chase from Fontana to Lynwood, a dramatic K-9 takedown, and the 405 Freeway reopening after a deadly police shooting in Playa Vista. Conway breaks down the chaos, the public safety concerns, and his theory on why people drive around L.A. with their windows down — plus the life-saving tips you probably have not heard. Then, we get into election frustration, delayed ballot counting, and the big question everyone is asking: if L.A. is struggling now, how is the city going to handle the World Cup and the Olympics? Also on deck: WeHo Pride, the fear of accidentally ending up on live TV, and whether NBC’s Jonathan Gonzalez is secretly David Vassegh’s doppelgänger. L.A. chaos, breaking news, wild chase, police pursuit, stolen truck, K-9 takedown, 405 Freeway, Playa Vista, election drama, ballot counting, World Cup, Olympics, WeHo Pride, viral news, public safety. Can I ask you something? When a hard emotion comes up, what's your first instinct? If you're like a lot of people, it's to fight it, analyze it, or pray it away as fast as possible. Because somewhere along the way, we started believing that feeling something meant we were about to spiral. In this episode, I'm going to gently push back on that. Feeling your emotions and spiraling are not the same thing, and the difference might surprise you. Also, don't forget!

Naturally, now we all need a weenie stick by our beds at night. - Tennessee's redistricting fight blows up the Democratic racial narrative, with the old map scrapped, Steve Cohen on the way out, and a black Republican woman now positioned to take the seat. - Justin Pearson turns the Statehouse into political theater, screaming about oppression while acting out a race-first script the episode treats as pure fraud. - Meghan Kelly and Tucker Carlson are hammered again for suggesting concern about radical Islam is somehow driven by Israel, while the episode insists the threat is domestic, immediate, and undeniable. - Spencer Pratt keeps emerging as the raw anti-establishment force in Los Angeles, landing direct hits on Karen Bass over the fires, the cover-ups, and the city's collapse. - Kamala Harris is cast as the perfect Democratic symbol: rich, insulated, and wildly out of touch, declaring the American dream dead while living a life that proves the exact opposite. Michael Wolff and Nico Hines, the Daily Beast's Global Editorial Director, dissect a week where everything around Donald Trump seems to be unraveling at once—starting with the stark cautionary tale of Rudy Giuliani, once “America's mayor” and now a symbol of what loyalty to Trump can cost, abandoned and politically ruined. From there, they pivot into the escalating crisis with Iran, where Trump's strategy has left the White House cornered, oil prices surging, and insiders quietly admitting they have no clear way out of a conflict increasingly defined by drone warfare and global instability. The conversation then veers into the surreal overlap of politics and culture, as figures like Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez become unlikely players in Trump's orbit, turning elite spaces like the Met Gala into symbols of shifting allegiances and reputational risk. Layered on top of it all: brutal new polling showing Trump's support collapsing—not just with independents, but within his own base—raising the possibility that the very forces that once made him untouchable are now eroding in real time. Our culture's growing addiction to fear comes into focus through a surprisingly relatable moment—one that exposes how far we'll go to avoid discomfort and uncertainty. Jase, Al, and Zach connect it to a much bigger issue: the way constant headlines and global tension keep people stuck in a cycle of anxiety and overreaction. The guys push back on that instinct by revisiting what Jesus actually said about wars and unrest, highlighting a message that's often misunderstood and misapplied. They point to a deeper perspective rooted in faith, clarity, and trust in God's bigger plan. The conversation ultimately reframes how believers should respond to fear—not by numbing it or giving in to it, but by stepping out of the cycle entirely and living with confidence grounded in truth.
