It's not “Presidents' Day.” Legally, it's George Washington's Birthday—and we've quietly erased the one American who actually deserves a national holiday.- This episode is sponsored by ExpressVPN. Get an extra 4 months free. https://expressvpn.com/goldIn this episode, I explain how a 1968 law moved holidays to Mondays, how retail “Presidents' Day” sales hijacked the meaning, and why Washington's character matters: the war hero who survived what should've killed him, turned down a crown, stepped away after two terms, and personally led troops to put down the Whiskey Rebellion. We also cover a modern contrast: government subsidies and incentives that raise prices, distort markets, and create the very “affordability” problems politicians pretend to solve.Chapters:00:00 Cold Open: No Friends in the Pits00:20 Show Intro: The Peter Schiff Show Begins00:55 Why It's George Washington's Birthday (Not “Presidents' Day”)02:46 How “Presidents' Day” Sales Hijacked the Holiday05:32 Washington's Early Life & French and Indian War Heroics09:22 Leading the Revolution: Beating the World's Strongest Army12:07 Turning Down a Crown & Setting the Two-Term Precedent13:39 The Whiskey Rebellion: A President Who Led from the Front16:27 Why Washington Deserves the Holiday (And the Modern Debate)19:32 Pepsi Cuts Prices 15%: The SNAP Junk Food Policy Angle23:08 The Bigger Lesson: Subsidies Raise Prices (College, Housing, More)25:34 Why Subsidies Make Housing, College & Healthcare More Expensive26:48 Trump on Keeping Home Prices High (and the Credit-Fueled Fix)28:57 Affordability 101: Demand Down or Supply Up?30:15 SNAP Benefits as Money Supply: How It Spills Into Everything33:43 The Farm Subsidy Paradox: Paying to Raise Food Prices38:31 Government Spending, Inflation, and the Case for Gold39:11 Gold & Silver Levels + Why to Dump Bitcoin40:37 MicroStrategy/Strategy and Michael Saylor: The “Legal Ponzi” Critique47:23 Palm Beach “Trump Airport” Trademark Story50:44 Wrap-Up: Calls to Action, Subscribing, and Sign-OffFollow @peterschiffX: https://twitter.com/peterschiffInstagram: https://instagram.com/peterschiffTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@peterschiffofficialFacebook: https://facebook.com/peterschiffSign up for Peter's most valuable insights at https://schiffsovereign.comSchiff Gold News: https://www.schiffgold.com/newsFree Reports & Market Updates: https://www.europac.comBook Store: https://schiffradio.com/books#PresidentsDay #WashingtonsBirthday #HistoryFactsOur Sponsors:* Check out GhostBed: https://ghostbed.com/PETER* Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code GOLD20 for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.comPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Processing. Asking who we are becoming. This shift signals something different. We are moving from spiritual processing to spiritual initiation. From knowing what we want to standing for it. From contemplating who we are to leading from it. I share what Saturn represents, what Neptune represents, why their conjunction at the beginning of Aries matters, and how to practically work WITH this energy instead of push against it. This is the 100th episode of The Discomfort Zone Podcast — and it almost never happened. In this solo milestone episode, Anna reflects on the journey from sitting on the idea of a podcast for years to surpassing 50,000 downloads — and the single insight that finally helped her take the leap. That insight came from one paragraph in Hidden Potential by Adam Grant, where he describes three kinds of courage that accelerate growth: The courage to abandon your tried-and-true methods The courage to step into the ring before you feel ready The courage to make more mistakes than others make attempts Through stories from whitewater kayaking, launching her first instructional DVD for women, and navigating the fear of publishing a podcast, Anna shares how leaning into discomfort shaped not only her career — but her life. In this episode, you'll explore: Why discomfort is the gateway to growth How to peel out of your "eddy" and take action Why mistakes are essential for mastery How paddling mirrors the way we show up in life Reflection questions to help you move toward what matters most If you've ever felt stuck, hesitant, or unsure whether you're ready, this episode is your reminder that growth starts exactly there. The river doesn't wait for you to feel ready. You peel out of the eddy anyway. And that's where transformation happens.

Hey Team! Most of us with ADHD have fallen into the trap of thinking that if we just work a little harder or do a few more things, we'll finally feel like we have our lives under control. But it turns out that "doing" and "leading" are two very different skill sets, and being a world-class "doer" can actually keep you stuck in place. Today, I'm talking with Katy McFee, an executive coach and the founder of Insights to Action. Katy reached the highest levels of corporate leadership before realizing that her success was built on a "doer" mentality that was no longer serving her, especially after her later in life ADHD diagnosis. In our conversation today, we're looking at why that "doer identity" can be such a common pitfall for ADHD brains and how it can lead to burnout instead of progress. We talk about Katy's journey with a late-in-life diagnosis and how that shift in perspective allowed her to stop masking and start building systems that actually worked for her Combined-Type ADHD. Whether you're running a household, a small business, or a massive department, the way Katy frames the transition from tactical "doing" to strategic "being" is something we can all use. If you'd life to follow along on the show notes page you can find that at HackingYourADHD.com/273 YouTube: https://tinyurl.com/y835cnrk Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/HackingYourADHD This Episode's Top Tips Recognize when you are trying to "outwork" your ADHD by doing more tasks. We don't always have to be the person doing everything; instead, we can focus on thinking strategically about what needs to be done and focus on doing those most important things. Give yourself explicit permission to stop pretending you work like a neurotypical person. You can reduce your cognitive load from "faking it" and free up energy for actually doing things the way they work for your brain. Instead of just using a calendar, use systems that visualize the passage of time and the weight of your commitments. Often time blindness can hit us not only in the moment, but also while were in the planning phase, when we don't realize how much we're really taking on.

Anna-Carin Svensson joins Dr. Sandie Morgan as they explore how Sweden's decision to punish buyers instead of victims has reshaped who feels safe coming forward — and how that same principle is now being applied to hold online exploitation accountable.Chapters(00:00) - Introduction: Sweden's Principle That Changed Everything (01:07) - The Equality Model: Why Sweden Criminalized Buyers, Not Sellers (07:37) - What 25 Years of Data Actually Shows (09:16) - When Exploitation Moves Online: Updating the Law for the Digital Age (14:37) - Why Multidisciplinary Collaboration Is Non-Negotiable (18:41) - The Gap Between Good Laws and Correct Application (25:02) - Prevention Starts Before the Warning Signs (29:51) - Hope, Humanity, and the Road Ahead Anna-Carin SvenssonAnna-Carin Svensson serves as Sweden's Ambassador to Combat Trafficking in Persons, representing Sweden in multilateral anti-trafficking efforts including at the United Nations. In this role, she has participated in high-level discussions related to the appraisal of the UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons, including the side event "Proactive by Design: Leveraging Multidisciplinary Collaboration and Digital Innovation to Prevent Human Trafficking."Previously, Svensson served as Director-General for International Affairs at the Swedish Ministry of Justice, where she led Swedish delegations in international human rights forums and oversaw Sweden's implementation of international legal obligations, including under the Convention against Torture. Across her career, she has consistently emphasized state responsibility, institutional accountability, cross-government coordination, and the importance of translating legislation into effective practice.Key PointsSweden's Sex Purchase Act, introduced in 1999, was a landmark legal shift that criminalized the buyer of sexual services rather than the seller, placing the state firmly on the side of the more vulnerable party in the transaction and signaling that prostitution is a harm to all of society — not just to the individual.A 2010 official evaluation of the law found measurable results: street prostitution decreased, criminal networks were deterred from establishing trafficking operations in Sweden, and public attitudes shifted significantly — evidence that law can have both a direct and a normative effect. As exploitation moved online, Sweden updated its legislation in 2025 to extend the same principle into the digital space, criminalizing the purchase of live, on-demand sexual acts performed remotely — because if something is illegal offline, it must be illegal online. Many victims who had been coerced into performing live cam shows said the new law would have made it easier for them to refuse, illustrating how legal frameworks can shift power back to the exploited person even before a crime is prosecuted.Correct application of the law matters as much as the law itself — broad training across all professions, not just specialized units, is essential so that any first responder can recognize a victim, give an appropriate initial response, and connect them to the right support.Multidisciplinary collaboration is not optional: criminal justice, social services, civil society, health professionals, schools, and international partners must all work in concert, because victims often feel safer disclosing to a social worker or nonprofit than to law enforcement, and that trust must be honored.Digital literacy and healthy relationship education must begin before exploitation happens — teaching young people to recognize manipulation, loverboy tactics, and online red flags is one of the most important prevention investments a society can make.Hope lies in the growing global community of organizations and individuals bringing creative, collaborative solutions to every aspect of this problem — and in the simple recognition that for every challenge, there are many possible answers.ResourcesEnding Human Trafficking PodcastGlobal Center for Women and Justice (GCWJ)UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons – 2025 AppraisalSweden's Sex Purchase Act – Swedish Gender Equality AgencySweden's 2025 Online Sexual Acts Legislation – Library of Congress SummaryTranscriptClick here to view the episode transcript.

What separates messages that get ignored from ideas that inspire movements? Jay Acunzo has built his career creating frameworks that stick, ideas so distinctive they become inseparable from his name. In this conversation, he reveals why most business communication fails to move people and shares the hidden structure behind narratives that transform understanding into action. If you've ever wondered why some leaders can rally teams and attract ideal clients effortlessly while others struggle to get buy-in, this episode exposes the systematic difference. The Fatal Flaw in Business Communication Most leaders are optimizing for the wrong metric entirely. Jay reveals why the conventional approach to reaching your audience actually weakens your influence—and introduces a counterintuitive principle that makes your message magnetic to the people who matter most. The question that changes everything: Are you broadcasting or building something deeper? How to Build Ideas That Become Competitive Advantages Jay pulls back the curtain on his process for developing intellectual property that competitors can't copy. This isn't about being first to market. It's about creating frameworks so aligned with your unique perspective that they become your signature—your professional lighthouse that ideal clients naturally navigate toward. What you'll discover: The iterative testing system Jay uses before an idea goes public Why the "messy middle" is where your most valuable thinking happens The difference between borrowed wisdom and ownable IP The insight: Your best ideas aren't found—they're systematically developed through a specific refinement process. The AI Trap Most Leaders Are Falling Into Here's what nobody's talking about with AI tools: They can make you faster while making you forgettable. Jay shares his selective framework for when AI enhances your thinking versus when it dilutes the very thing that makes your communication magnetic. The warning: There's a hidden cost to automation that shows up in your influence, not your efficiency metrics. The opportunity: A smarter integration approach that amplifies your voice instead of replacing it. The 6-Step Structure Behind Every Persuasive Narrative Want to know how master communicators move people from "I understand" to "I must act"? Jay breaks down the exact framework he uses to construct arguments that don't just inform—they transform. This is the systematic structure behind presentations that get standing ovations, pitches that close deals, and content that converts browsers into believers. What makes this different: Most people start their narrative in the wrong place. Jay reveals where persuasion actually begins and the specific progression that builds unstoppable momentum toward action. Fair warning: Once you see this structure, you'll recognize it everywhere—and you'll never communicate the same way again.

Watch the best scene reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2VAxv7qARQ Lee is hired to bring the seducer of a young woman to daddy for his particular vengeance. Daddy is an Arizona drug baron. The seducer works for daddy's Mexican partner. Then too many people with guns and the wrong ideas intrude. And the job just got complicated. Get to know the writer: What is your screenplay about? I will place the logline here for reference: A down-on-his-luck enforcer is hired to bring a young woman's seducer back to Daddy for a particular vengeance. Daddy is an Arizona drug baron. Seducer works for Daddy's Mexican partner. Then too many people with guns jump to half-baked conclusions. And the job just got complicated. And now, what is the story really about. And that is that people often draw the conclusions they want to, and will not be dissuaded by facts. They will rely on preconceptions and assumptions, and jump to the most comfortable, palatable conclusions. The cliche line would be “go with your gut”, the $20 version would say “cognitive bias”. A secondary idea is the danger of mixing personal beefs with business (especially when the action is based on those faulty assumptions). Our protagonist, Lee, the above-mentioned enforcer, tries to figure out what is really going on while others are going off half-cocked (with loaded guns). Those are the ideas that underpin the story. Or we can just enjoy the action, the guys, the gals, the guns, the big old cars, and maybe even spot the hommage à Peckinpah – think The Getaway meets Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (the vibe, not the plot points). What genres does your screenplay fall under? a) Action b) Crime, in the sense that all the characters are involved in crime or related to criminals, and law enforcement c) Contemporary western, in its setting, and the number of wannabe gunfighters Why should this screenplay be made into a movie? Because, if done right, it would be a fun 110 mins, with enjoyable characters in a crazy action-packed situation. And those who choose can ponder the deeper meanings of the film. —- Subscribe to the podcast: Tweets by wildsoundpod https://www.instagram.com/wildsoundpod/ https://www.facebook.com/wildsoundpod

John McGinnis, law professor at Northwestern University and author of Why Democracy Needs the Rich, examines constitutional design, democratic stability, and the accelerating force of artificial intelligence. Drawing on the Federalist Papers, Tocqueville, and public choice theory, he argues that a realistic understanding of politics is essential to preserving both liberty and effective state capacity. McGinnis traces his intellectual formation to a "hard-headed realism" learned early in life and later reinforced by the American founding. At the center of his thinking is a practical constitutional question: how to build sufficient state capacity while preventing its abuse. He emphasizes the importance of an entrenched constitution that is difficult to amend, arguing that stability enables long-term planning and protects society from short-term political passions. Several themes shape the discussion: Public choice and political incentives. Politics does not operate in a purely public-spirited way; concentrated interests often organize more effectively than diffuse ones. Understanding this dynamic is essential for evaluating policy debates. Historical perspective as stabilizer. Many contemporary political phenomena appear unprecedented but are not. From Andrew Jackson to the present, democratic politics has repeatedly unsettled elites while preserving constitutional continuity. Technology as the dominant variable. McGinnis argues that AI will overshadow most current political disputes. As a general cognitive tool, it will be embedded across sectors, reshaping law, education, national security, and economic organization. Comparative advantage in an AI world. As machines assume cognitive tasks, human value will shift toward persuasion, judgment, and relational skills. Professionals must rethink where they add distinctive value. Education under acceleration. The coexistence of AI-enabled and AI-restricted learning may become necessary to preserve independent thinking while leveraging technological capability. The civic role of the wealthy. In Why Democracy Needs the Rich, McGinnis contends that wealthy individuals diversify democratic discourse, counterbalance concentrated interests, support minority rights movements, and fund public goods such as universities and museums. Their independence allows them to take risks others cannot. The episode also addresses rising student anxiety, the erosion of historical literacy, and the long-term question of meaning in a world where work may change substantially. McGinnis maintains that constitutional stability, plural centers of influence, and technological leadership remain central to American resilience. This conversation offers a grounded framework for thinking about democracy, incentives, and technological acceleration. It situates current debates within a longer historical arc while identifying AI as the structural force most likely to define the next decade. How do we run our race with full surrender to Christ? Eric Liddell's life answers this question and many more with quiet strength and unwavering faith. Known for refusing to run on a Sunday at the 1924 Olympics, Eric honored God's law above worldly praise, trusting Christ by his obedience. His gold medal in the 400m became a testimony to God's faithfulness. But Eric's race didn't end on the track—he gave his life as a missionary in China, serving others with humility and joy until his final breath. His last words, “It's full surrender,” remind us that true greatness is found in yielding wholly to Jesus. Let us run our race likewise—looking unto Him (Hebrews 12:1–2).

What does it really mean to shape European policy? From 5–8 February 2026, students in Košice experienced it firsthand. Model European Union brought together 60 high school students from across Slovakia for an immersive, English-language simulation of EU decision-making. Stepping into the roles of Members of the European Parliament, EU Commissioners, and national representatives, they debated pressing topics such as the EU–Mercosur trade agreement and the Green Claims Directive tackling greenwashing. Organised by BETA Slovakia in cooperation with FUTURUM Bilingual High School, and supported by the European Parliament Liaison Office in Slovakia, the event blended dynamic debate with real-world insight. We spoke with participating students, as well as Veronica Anna Lacová, President of BETA Slovakia, and Ján Haraslín, Community Manager at the EP Liaison Office in Bratislava. Welcome to another episode of Death Don't Do Fiction, the AIPT Movies podcast! The podcast about the enduring legacy of our favorite movies! This February we're kicking off our “Fast February” series, where we cover the movies that made Vin Diesel a star and taught the world to live their lives one quarter mile at a time, The Fast & Furious franchise! In this week's episode, Alex, Tim, and returning guest Bill Mueller discuss the one that started it all, 2001's The Fast and the Furious!Limp Bizkit! Ja Rule! Cheesy lines! Chunky boots that would make Guy Fieri jealous! A fittingly quick and entertaining pace! Recognizable Los Angeles locations! Questionable car talk! Exciting new home video technology! Legally purchased DVD players! Overheated manifolds! Reckless contempt for carpooling! Shockingly organized crowds of young, illegal street racers! A guy playing guitar at a party! Product placement for Pizza Hut, Corona, and most-notably, the nitrous oxide brand NOS! A great high-speed heist to open the movie and plenty of (mostly) real stunts and action! Occasional surreal, anime-influenced racing scenes years before the Speed Racer movie came out! A versatile cast of young actors on the verge of stardom, including Vin Diesel with a rare shred of humility, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez laying the foundation for one of cinema's most iconic female action heroes, and Matt Schulze making the most of his very punchable face! A 2001 time capsule which may have borrowed heavily from Point Break, but still has great chemistry between the two leads with some impressive world building and story mechanics, and would surprisingly go on to become one of the biggest and most influential action franchises in movie history! In addition, Alex shares his spoiler-free thoughts on Spring Breakers, The Beekeeper, Lucio Fulci's dance-themed giallo Murder Rock, and Sam Raimi's return to horror, Send Help! You can find Death Don't Do Fiction on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. FAP-374 Failure Frame - Trauma Shaped Poor Final And Animation

This week we tackle Failure Frame, a show that Rick had initially rolled his eyes at  because when he looked at it it seemed like it would be another Arifureta clone. Rick admitted though that he quickly got hooked on the ruthless protagonist as well as the sheer effectiveness of the "useless" status ailments magic like sleep, paralyze, and poison, even if he spent half the season frustrated that the main character couldn't use anything other than those. And Jack breaks down the darker elements of the world, pointing out that the hero had been shaped by trauma, and not only by recent events but by his past rather than nobility, though he isn't quite as sold on the execution. We also talk about the finale, or lack thereof. Rick claims the show "No Game No Life'd" him because the open ending felt like a personal insult with no Season 2 in sight. Jack called out the "trash" animation and forced villain monologues. And while Rick was emotionally invested enough to be angry, Jack found the whole experience middling, arguing that while it was watchable, it gave him absolutely zero drive to pick up the light novels to see what happens next.About the anime:Failure Frame: I Became the Strongest and Annihilated Everything with Low-Level Spells Follows Touka Mimori as he is summoned to another word with his classmates but rather then him being the hero he is immediately rated E-rank and tossed into a death dungeon by the goddess Vicius, his "useless" status effect skills (paralyze, poison, sleep) turn out to have a 100% success rate, which is the kind of quietly devastating detail that the goddess does not know about. This isn't just a power fantasy reversal, this show commits to Mimori as someone fundamentally is shaped by trauma by both his past and current life events and not some noble hero waiting to emerge. He develops two distinct personas depending on who he's dealing with, and the series doesn't shy away from making him genuinely ruthless when he thinks someone deserves it. The world around him is brutal in ways that feel thought-through and the "heroes" for the most part are corrupt and selfish, the institutions are all cruel by design, and Mimori's revenge arc is less about becoming an oppressor himself and more about protecting people the world has discarded Seras the elf princess hunted for her beauty, Eve Speed forced into bloodsport arenas.Next Week's Pick: “Moonrise”Have you had the chance to watch Failure Frame or any of our previous selections? Dynatrace Intelligence And The Shift From Observability To Autonomous Action

Perform 2026 felt like a turning point for Dynatrace, and when Steve Tack joined me for his fourth appearance on the show, it was clear this was not business as usual.  We began with a little Perform nostalgia, from Dave Anderson's unforgettable "Full Stack Baby" moment to the debut of AI Rick on the keynote stage. But the humor quickly gave way to substance. Because beneath the spectacle, Dynatrace introduced something that signals a broader shift in observability: Dynatrace Intelligence. Steve was candid about the problem they set out to solve. Too much focus on ingesting data. Too much time spent stitching tools together. Too many dashboards. Too many alerts. The real opportunity, he argued, is turning telemetry into trusted, automated action. And that means blending deterministic AI with agentic systems in a way enterprises can actually trust. We unpacked what that looks like in practice. From United Airlines using a digital cockpit to improve operational performance, to TELUS and Vodafone demonstrating measurable ROI on stage, the emphasis at Perform was firmly on production outcomes rather than pilot projects. As Steve put it, the industry has spent long enough in "pilot purgatory." The next phase demands real-world deployment and real return. A big part of that confidence comes from the foundations Dynatrace has laid with Grail and Smartscape. By combining unified telemetry in its data lakehouse with real-time topology mapping and causal AI, Dynatrace is positioning itself as the engine behind explainable, trustworthy automation. When hyperscaler agents from AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud call Dynatrace Intelligence, they are expected to receive answers grounded in causal context rather than probabilistic guesswork. We also explored what this means for developers, who often carry the burden of alert fatigue and fragmented tooling. New integrations into VS Code, Slack, Atlassian, and ServiceNow aim to bring observability directly into the developer workflow. The goal is simple in theory and complex in execution: keep engineers in their flow, reduce toil, and amplify human decision-making rather than replace it. Of course, autonomy raises questions about risk. Steve acknowledged that for now, humans remain firmly in the loop, with most agentic interactions still requiring checkpoints. But as trust grows, so will the willingness to let systems self-optimize, self-heal, and remediate issues automatically. We closed by zooming out. In a market saturated with AI claims, Steve encouraged listeners to bet on change rather than cling to the status quo. There will be hype. There will be agent washing. But there is also real value emerging for those prepared to experiment, learn, and scale responsibly. If you want to understand where AI observability is heading, and how deterministic and agentic intelligence can coexist inside enterprise operations, this episode offers a grounded, practical perspective straight from the Perform show floor.
