The Podcast hosted by Wayne Watts where we discuss some of "classical" literature's most relevant and ridiculous applications for your 21st-century life. Join us every Friday for a new episode of either "Literary Lesson" or our alternate segment "The Profit of Poetry".
Thanks for joining me this week! The second half of The Jungle, I hope, will prove as rivetings the first. I am taking a week off so try not to miss me too much. : )
Welcome back to the show! Here lies our first episode where we are splitting the episodes into two parts. We begin with the biography and summary of the classic "The Jungle" one I've been reckoning with for years and must humbly admit its place in the literary world. I hope you enjoy the scandal and the background. : )
Hello Everybody! Very glad to be back this week and talking about a beautiful poem that becomes more and more relevant by the day. I particularly think this usually negatively read poem holds a unique message for our current circumstances. I hope this finds you well and can serve as a small comfort in these trying times. Remember to Read!
Hello Ravenous Readers! I just wanted to reach out and explain the change in the recording schedule moving forward. We are going to move from a two-week schedule to a three-week schedule where we will break the full Literary Lesson into two thirty-minute episodes. After some feedback, I thought this would make the show a little more palatable while also slowing production down just enough to give me the breather I needed. As always I hope this message finds you well.
Thank you for joining this week! I hope you'll forgive my humble PSA announcement in the beginning. I hope that it, as always, encourages far more than it discourages. I hope you find the show this week enjoyable as we discuss the dawn of Adolescent literature and the major themes and tropes found in "The Outsiders".
Oh so very excited to be back in the studio this week to record another episode discussing one of America's best and brightest poets! Thank you to everyone for being patient as I enjoyed a week off last week, I hope you love the show. Emily Dickinson can, and I think has, shed a hopeful light in similar dark places.
Thank you for joining me this week as we once again delve into the depths of human depravity in this Dark and Haunting classic by William Golding. Inspired by the violence of WWII this novel is read and interpreted a number of ways, most of which were my pleasure to analyze for you here.
Join us for the second edition of "The Profits of Poetry" as we take a look at notable "Lost Generation" American poet T. S. Eliot! We'll discuss WWI, Dante's Inferno, and forgotten nursery rhymes as we try to understand some modernist poetry.
Thank you for joining us on our first episode of Literary Lesson! Our first ever novel is understandably focused on analyzing the prominent candidate for "The Great American Novel". As we explore the ebbs and flows of American life in the 1920s, it is my hope that this podcast finds you well in these times of uncertainty.
Join me for our first real episode of content as we look at one of the world's most highly "misinterpreted" poems. "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost, the life, the symbol, the debate.
Thank you for joining us at the beginning! Let's get a brief overview of the goals and purposes of the podcast before we plunge in at the deep end.
