It was Christmastime — a season of peace, light, and goodwill — which made the slow unraveling of their minds all the more disturbing.IN THIS EPISODE: Despite being in the middle of the first World War, on Christmas Day, 1914 British and German soldiers sang carols together, exchanged gifts with the enemy combatants, and supposedly even played a soccer game against each other in order to celebrate the holiday. (The Great War's Christmas Truce) *** The case was so mysterious it was even featured on TV's “Unsolved Mysteries” and “America's Most Wanted”: who committed the Christmas murder of Latricia White? And what happened to Lee and Chance Wackerhagen? (An Unsolved Christmas Murder Mystery) *** We're so used to seeing old St. Nick showing up with a big bag of toys for the kiddies – but what if he arrived with another bag full of switches for your parents to use the whole year through if you were on his naughty list? We'll look back at when Santa wasn't purely jolly and jovial, and when he arrived to dole out both presents and punishment! (Santa's Naughty List) *** The Los Feliz murder mansion became the site of a horrifying and sad Christmas tragedy for one California family. (Christmas At The Los Feliz Murder Mansion) *** A haunting holiday mystery took place in England in 1916 when a young bride simply disappeared without a trace. (The Vanishing Christmas Bride) *** A man tries to take on supernatural forces – and ends up as an undead creature who appears as a terrifying Yuletide spirit. This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Some buildings carry history. Others carry the weight of every soul that ever passed through their doors. The Old Charleston Jail, standing for nearly two centuries atop a former burial ground, belongs firmly in the latter category. Once home to the imprisoned, the condemned, and in many cases, the unjustly accused, this massive stone structure holds echoes of a time when punishment was swift, survival was uncertain, and justice was often a matter of interpretation. Though the final cell door closed long ago, the building has never fully settled. Visitors and investigators alike report the unmistakable clatter of chains where none remain, soft murmurs drifting through vacant corridors, and presences that seem all too aware of who enters their domain. The question is no longer whether the Old Charleston Jail is haunted, but why its spirits still linger. We step into the jail's storied halls to explore the layers of suffering, injustice, and unsettled energy that refuse to fade. What keeps these spirits tied to the place? And what can we learn from a structure that remembers its past far too well? This is Part Two of our conversation. #thegravetalks #oldcharlestonjail #hauntedcharleston #paranormalpodcast #hauntedhistory #charlestonspirits #ghoststories #historicjails #trueghoststories #supernaturalencounters #paranormalinvestigation #hauntedplaces Love real ghost stories? In this episode of Truth and Shadow, host BT delves into the depths of Norse mythology, exploring the concept of Naglfar, the ship of the dead, and the spiritual implications of necromancy. He discusses the fear of the dead returning, the role of seeresses, and the consequences of disturbing burial practices. The conversation draws parallels between Norse beliefs and biblical themes, ultimately leading to a reflection on the choices between fear and redemption in the face of spiritual darkness.

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Perched against the rugged cliffs of California's coastline, the Big Sur Lighthouse has watched over countless ships since its commissioning in 1889. Built as a beacon of safety, it became just as well known for the tragedies it witnessed—storms that swallowed ships whole, sailors lost to the waves, and families who arrived full of hope only to leave long before their first year was done. Isolation, danger, and restless emotion shaped life inside those walls. But what becomes of that energy when the keepers are gone? In this episode of The Grave Talks, we explore the history and hauntings of the Big Sur Lighthouse with Julie Nunes, whose research and experiences shed light on a place where the past refuses to stay quiet. Are the spirits of former lighthouse keepers still tending their post? Do echoes of fear, duty, and heartbreak linger in the structure itself? Or is something else—something older—still keeping watch over the sea? #TheGraveTalks #BigSurLighthouse #HauntedLighthouse #GhostStories #CaliforniaHauntings #HauntedHistory #Paranormal #HistoricHauntings #GhostlyEchoes #CoastalSpirits #ParanormalPodcast #UnexplainedEncounters Love real ghost stories? This week, we continue our Mike Flanagan Rewind series with Episode 7 of The Haunting of Bly Manor. In this episode, we uncover the dark truth behind Peter and Rebecca's tragic fate at Bly Manor. Through flashbacks, Peter learns the rules of being a ghost: he can briefly possess the living—and, with an invitation, take over a body permanently. But every spirit trapped on the grounds risks losing their face, their memories, and ultimately their identity. Believing they can be together forever, Peter convinces Rebecca to invite him in. Instead of reuniting, he uses her body to walk into the lake, drowning her and binding her to Bly as a ghost. Heartbroken and furious, Rebecca refuses to join his plan to possess the children—Miles and Flora, but Peter continues manipulating events to get what he wants. In the present day, Peter and Rebecca lure Dani to the attic as their scheme reaches its breaking point. The children appear to surrender their bodies to the ghosts, and when Hannah intervenes, Peter (speaking through Miles) forces her to confront her own death. But Flora reveals the truth: she and Rebecca have been pretending, and Rebecca has not taken her over. As Dani attempts a desperate escape with Flora, they are suddenly confronted by Bly Manor's most fearsome spirit—the Lady in the Lake. We also land on our next movie review for next week: Butterfly Kisses, a fun found footage romp.
At four years old, she survived a brutal car accident that left her in a coma—days trapped somewhere between life and death. When she finally opened her eyes, something opened with her. Something that would follow her for the rest of her life. The visions came first—impossible premonitions that played out exactly as she saw them. Then the shadows. The cold touches. The weight on her bed at night. The sense of a presence that didn't just watch… but recognized her. Knew her. And when she, in desperation, scribbled a Ouija board onto notebook paper, she had no idea she wasn't reaching out to the dead—she was inviting something far older. But nothing compared to the night the old soldier appeared—an apparition in full uniform pressing warnings into her thoughts. Warnings she ignored… until she discovered the uniform was real. The soldier was real. And the presence she felt was no accident. #paranormal #ghoststory #truehaunting #hauntedlife #ouijaboard #premonition #pastlife #witchtrials #shadowpeople #possessions #realghosts #creepy Love real ghost stories? For her, the paranormal wasn't a passing moment — it was a presence. A watcher. Something that clung to her across state lines, across homes, across every desperate attempt to escape it. What began as whispers, light touches, and unexplained anger soon grew into something far more intelligent… and far more dangerous. It started the night she saw a man walk through a locked front door — a man dead for over a decade. It escalated when her infant daughter began laughing in her sleep at something no one else could see. But the moment everything changed was the night a faceless boy appeared in her bedroom doorway… staring straight at her as her daughter screamed. This is not just a haunting. Not just an attachment. This is a story about a spirit that learned her name… followed her… and refused to let go. #paranormal #ghoststories #haunted #attachment #facelessentity #haunting #creepyencounters #realghoststory #supernatural #poltergeist #scarybuttrue #horrorstories Love real ghost stories? This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! For generations, the former St. Vincent Academy in Western Kentucky has carried a reputation that few locations can match—one of layered history, quiet tragedy, and persistent paranormal activity. Once a Catholic orphanage serving children in need, the building now stands as a focal point of unexplained occurrences that have touched not only investigators, but the local community itself. Paranormal researcher Steve Asher, has explored the Academy and the surrounding area extensively. He shares the stories passed down by residents—people who have lived their entire lives beside these walls and have experienced phenomena they cannot ignore. From subtle movements and disembodied voices to the deeper question of why this land seems so spiritually charged, Steve guides us through the layered mystery of a region that has been active long before the Academy was ever built. What draws spirits to this place? Who are the entities that linger? And why does this community experience the paranormal so consistently? #thegravetalks #stvincentacademy #hauntedkentucky #ghoststories #paranormalpodcast #hauntedhistory #paranormalresearch #ghosthunters #trueghoststory #supernatural #hauntedplaces #hauntings Love real ghost stories? The Devil didn't confine his shenanigans to Salem Village or even the Massachusetts Bay colony in the 1600s. A penchant for hanging and persecuting those believed to be in league with him swept through the colonies in those days, leading to many tragedies and deaths. But the madness the Puritans introduced in that period drained America of its lust for religions mania and fanaticism for many years to come. The hardship, brutality, and war that followed over the next century and a half sent the broken and the disillusioned in search of enlightenment. In the 1820s and 1830s religious excitement began to sweep the country, and soon new churches, sects, and cults began to emerge. This new age would be dubbed “The Great Awakening” and while none of these new groups would compare with the strictness of the Puritans, a devout belief in the works of the Devil remained. As did an unhinged belief in doomsday, the Antichrist, and the end of the world. Our Sponsors:* Check out CBDfx and use my code HAUNTINGS for a great deal: https://cbdfx.com* Check out Shopify: https://shopify.com/hauntings* Check out Uncommon Goods: https://uncommongoods.com/HAUNTINGSSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/american-hauntings-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
Darkness Radio Presents: The Smurl Haunting: When Ed and Lorraine Came To Town w/ Researcher/Journalist/Author, Maxim W. Furek! Called Pennsylvania's “Amityville Horror,” the Smurl family's nightmare of demonic possession is the subject of both the current motion picture, Conjuring: Last Rites, and this book. Venturing far beyond the West Pittston coal region, author Maxim W. Furek's narrative explores the dark crawlspaces of High Hopes, the Hinsdale House, the damned Welles House, and good and evil, as seen through the eyes of history's foremost exorcists and psychics, such as the mysterious Fr. Alphonsus Trabold O.F.M and Alexander Tanous. There was something of the supernatural channeling through Furek that inspired him to write this book. The 92-year-old West Pittston Smurl duplex was a half-hour drive from his home, and, during their 15-city book tour promoting The Haunted, the author befriended Ed and Lorraine Warren. Lynda Quirino has been in the paranormal field for 44 years, and has experienced unexplained phenomena all of her life. At 18 years of age, she began to investigate the paranormal while at Vanier college in her hometown of Montreal, and also during her years at McGill University. She continued to research and investigate on her own until relocating to the Toronto area in 1986. From 1986 to 1996, she continued to work primarily on her own, investigating local hauntings and paranormal issues until, in 1997, she became the Assistant Director of the Toronto Ghosts and Hauntings Research Society. Lynda left the TGHRS in 2003, and once again worked “freelance” in the field, concentrating on investigating and researching local cases. After giving a presentation on ghosts and hauntings at the local library in Georgina, Ontario, the town where she now resides, Lynda realized that the need for a paranormal team was very much needed. In 2012, she founded The Georgina Paranormal Society. Currently, Lynda is the Executive Director of the Georgina Paranormal Society, and appears on the television show “Paranormal Survivor” as one of its paranormal experts. She has appeared on many paranormal podcasts, radio, and local television shows, currently hosting a weekly cable lifestyle show “Georgina Life” in her now hometown of Georgina, Ontario, Canada. She is also the co-host of a weekly YouTube show entitled “Paranormally Speaking”, and has been featured in the book “I Want to Believe: An Investigators' Archive” by Jason Hewlett & Peter Renn. Lynda also lectures and gives presentations on the paranormal for various organizations throughout Canada.

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Not all hauntings reveal themselves in the same way — and not every investigation can be solved with EMF meters and night-vision cameras. That's where Second Sight Paranormal and Forensic Services stands apart. Led by psychic medium Ericka Boussarhane, the team approaches hauntings with a blend of intuition, investigative training, and real-world expertise. Former military police, legal experts, behavioral analysts, and seasoned intuitives work together to uncover what's truly happening inside a location — not just what people think they're experiencing. Whether it's a home filled with unexplained shadows, a business plagued by recurring disturbances, or a property owner convinced something ancient has taken hold, Second Sight dives deep into the layers of each haunting. They gather evidence, study patterns, interview witnesses, and combine their skills to separate natural causes from the undeniably paranormal. In this episode, Ericka and team member Shannon Pringle take us inside their process — the red flags they look for, the moments that still haunt them, and the encounters that defy every rule of investigation. My guest for this episode is paranormal investigator, researcher and writer Kate Ray. In addition to scientific rigour, Kate's approach to investigating hauntings is influenced by appreciating how these sorts of happenings were understood and described in pre-industrial societies and preserved in the local folklore. A good example of this is how what might be described as poltergeist activity in the present day could in the past have been considered the actions of a displeased house spirit, or fairy. Kate has written extensively on a range of Fortean subjects, including two books inspired by the Wollaton Gnomes case and regular articles appearing in Haunted magazine. In addition, she hosts a faery inspired podcast called Hare in the Hawthorn. In the interview I talk with Kate about how her career in paranormal investigation began and has developed around the connection between hauntings and the presence of beings which might best be described as fairies. The conversation opens out into a wide-ranging discussion on the nature of paranormal phenomena and the role that experiencers have as part of that. I also talk with Kate about the Wollaton Gnomes case and we conclude with her relating a very unusual entity encounter she had whilst visiting an ancient earthwork known as Wayland's Smithy. You can find further details about Kate's paranormal investigations and podcast at her Youtube channel Hare in the Hawthorn. This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Beneath Charleston's charm lies a history shaped by conflict, punishment, and fear—few places embody that legacy more than the Old Dungeon. For centuries, its stone walls confined pirates, traitors, dissidents, and anyone who fell on the wrong side of power. Some were held briefly. Others never left. And the stories carved into the Dungeon's past are as complex as the city itself: harsh justice, survival, corruption, and the echoes of lives abruptly altered. Today, the Dungeon stands open to the public, part museum, part warning, part memorial. Yet visitors and guides alike report that something within those walls still stirs as if the energy of its long-ago inmates hasn't quieted with time. As if some conflicts remain unresolved. We step inside Charleston's most infamous holding place to examine the lives it touched, the shadows it kept, and the lingering question: when a building has witnessed this much suffering, does the past ever truly let go? This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Deep in the Northwoods of Wisconsin stands a mansion whose reputation is as chilling as the winds that sweep across its decaying foundations. Summerwind Mansion, built in the early 20th century, has become one of the most infamous paranormal locations in the Midwest — a place where hauntings, tragedy, and madness seem woven into the very walls. For more than a century, families who attempted to live within its halls reported overwhelming dread, unexplainable activity, and encounters that pushed some to the brink of sanity. From apparitions and disembodied voices to aggressive energies that seemed determined to drive residents out, Summerwind earned a reputation for being a house few could endure for long. But why does this mansion wield such power over those who step inside? What forces linger there, and why do they remain so active after decades of abandonment? We explore the unsettling history behind Summerwind Mansion, the stories of those who fled in fear, and the legends that continue to surround its crumbling structure. Welcome, my ghoulish fiends. The Smurl family claimed their West Pittston duplex was overtaken by a violent, calculating force that wanted more than their fear, it wanted their bodies and their faith. Over fourteen years, they reported whispers, apparitions, assaults, and a darkness that grew stronger the longer it was ignored. Even seasoned investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren called it one of their most disturbing cases. In this episode, I dig into the documented chaos, the Church's hesitation, and the terrifying question that still lingers on Chase Street. Was something truly hunting the Smurls... or does evil simply wear the face of an ordinary home?***Listener Discretion is Strongly Advised.*******************Sources:The Haunted: One Family's Nightmare — Robert Curran, Ed & Lorraine WarrenScranton Times Archives (1974–1989)Citizens' Voice Interview with Janet Smurl (1986)Ed and Lorraine Warren Case Files, N.E.S.P.R.The Morning Call (Pennsylvania), 1986 CoverageLocal testimonies collected in Haunted Pennsylvania (1994)****************Leave Us a 5* Rating, it really helps the show!Apple Podcast:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/beauty-unlocked-the-podcast/id1522636282Spotify Podcast:https://open.spotify.com/show/37MLxC8eRob1D0ZcgcCorA****************Follow Us on Social Media & Subscribe to our YouTube Channel!YouTube:@beautyunlockedspodcasthourTikTok:tiktok.com/@beautyunlockedthepod****************Music & SFX Attribution:Epidemic SoundFind the perfect track on Epidemic Sound for your content and take it to the next level! This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! From the moment his dad moved in, the house carried an uneasy energy, amplified by an unsettling warning from a local who was written off as “crazy” by the town. But it didn't take long for Wes's family to realize the man wasn't crazy at all — he was the only one telling the truth. What began as strange activity escalated into something far darker: physical disturbances, emotional strain, and encounters that pushed the family to their breaking point. In desperation, they turned to prayer, faith, and the support of those who believed in the power of spiritual protection. But the question remained — could prayer silence the shadows, or would the darkness push back harder? In this episode of The Grave Talks, we explore Wes's family's harrowing experience inside a home where fear and faith collided. Their story is a reminder that sometimes, the past refuses to rest… and the spirits inside a house may have no intention of sharing it. Some hauntings linger in old stone houses. Others cling to attics, staircases, or forgotten rooms. But every so often, a haunting chooses a person—and once it does, it doesn't seem interested in letting go. For Sarah, the first encounter came before she even understood the concept of a ghost: a man sitting on the staircase of her family's 400-year-old mining house in Cornwall, two dogs quietly at his side. Solid. Present. Silent. She stepped around him as casually as a child walks past a family member. Only later did she realize no one else ever saw him. Touches. Lights. Migraines. Names spoken in her mind. Objects vanishing. Spirits confirmed by mediums who knew nothing of her experiences. And everywhere she went, the same unnerving feeling: She was being noticed. We explore the unsettling possibility that the haunting was never tied to a place at all…but to Sarah herself. #HauntedLife #SensitiveToSpirits #CornwallGhosts #ParanormalExperiences #LivingWithGhosts #ParanormalActivity #SpiritualAttachment #GhostEncounters #HauntedSinceChildhood #ShadowWatchers Love real ghost stories? The terrible incident at Salem was not the last American witch hunt. It was also not the end of Puritan oppression in the region. They would leave a last impact on both New England and American history. And no aspect of the Puritan experience remains as vivid in American memory as their fear of monsters, specifically the fear of witches that led to the trials of hundreds of settlers during the 1600s. For most of us today, the witch trials seem to be a brief flirtation with an irrational past. But there was nothing irrational about Salem to the Puritans. They hunted monsters for a generation before Salem, believing that strange creatures lurked in the “howling wilderness.” They imagined their religious experience as a war with monstrous beings birthed by the Devil. It was a struggle with the forces of darkness that turned the New World into a place teeming with such monsters in the minds of the Puritans.
When Ron and Nancy Stallings found the old Victorian on Evergreen Street in Baltimore, they thought their dreams had come true. With each bringing three kids from a previous marriage into the relationship, they needed to find a house large enough to accommodate their large family, but their limited income made that seem impossible. So, when they learned that the house was being offered at a bargain price, Ron and Nancy didn't hesitate to put in an offer—a decision they would soon come to regret. In the years that the Stallings family occupied the home on Evergreen Street, they encountered a variety of paranormal activity, from the faucets and lights turning themselves on and off to the disembodied voices and apparitions of strangers in the home. Rather than be captives in their home to forces they could neither fight nor understand, Ron and Nancy decided to take action to rid themselves of the other worldly presence, but quickly realized they were woefully unprepared for the battle that lay before them.ReferencesAmodio, Joe. 2005. This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! High in the mountains of Bisbee, Arizona, stands a hotel built during the height of the copper boom — a grand structure meant to showcase wealth, innovation, and the promise of a growing Western city. When the Copper Queen Hotel opened in 1902, Bisbee was the largest urban center between St. Louis and San Francisco, alive with miners, rail travelers, and fortune-seekers. More than a century later, the Copper Queen still welcomes guests… but not all of them are living. Arizona's oldest continuously operating hotel has hosted icons like John Wayne, Marlon Brando, and Harry Houdini. Yet the names most often whispered through its halls belong to those who linger long after checkout: Julia Lowell, a young boy known as Billy, and the elusive “Smoking Man.” In this episode of The Grave Talks, we sit down with Jenna Lampinen to explore the legends, encounters, and unexplainable moments tied to one of Arizona's most famously haunted hotels. Some hauntings don't cling to houses — they cling to people. They slip into a life quietly, rearranging objects, bending routines, and whispering their presence into the smallest moments… until years later, you realize they never left. What began in a simple Iowa City apartment surrounded by headstones evolved into something far more personal: a force that followed him through duty stations, breakups, new homes, and even fatherhood. It learned him. Adjusted to him. Grew bolder with every move. And no matter how many miles he put between himself and the past, the past kept finding him — opening doors, rearranging belongings, speaking in empty houses, and watching his loved ones in the dark. This is not the story of a place. It is the story of an attachment. One that has waited decades. One that has grown patient. This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! What if everything we've believed about ghosts is rooted in misunderstanding? In this episode of The Grave Talks, paranormal researcher Aaron G. Thompson challenges long-held assumptions about hauntings and introduces a radically different framework for understanding the supernatural. Instead of demons, malevolent entities, or lost souls, Aaron proposes something far more complex — and far more fascinating. Through the lens of Echo Terrestrial Quantum Mechanics, he explores the possibility that spirits may be misunderstood energy forms acting within dimensions we barely comprehend. According to this theory, hauntings might not be intentional interactions at all, but natural energetic echoes, fluctuations, and overlaps between quantum layers of existence. Why do certain places remain active for centuries? Why do hauntings repeat? And could paranormal encounters be less about fear… and more about physics? Aaron walks us through the science, the patterns, and the evidence that shape his groundbreaking perspective.
