A new sonification technique changes the haunting tune this black hole is playing.

In 1973, 9-year-old Lisa Ann French of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, went out trick-or-treating on Halloween night but never returned home. Her neighbor, Gerald Turner, lured her into his house, where he assaulted and murdered her. He disposed of her body in a rural area, where it was found the next day. Turner was convicted and sentenced to prison, and the crime had a lasting impact on how communities approached Halloween safety.

We revisit the chilling trial and execution of Rebecca Nurse — a respected 71-year-old woman condemned as a witch. This episode explores her final words, the courtroom drama, Ann Putnam Jr.'s haunting confession, and the ghostly echoes still said to linger near her homestead. Her story continues to speak — and haunt — centuries later.

Shepherdstown, West Virginia, may be small, but its history runs deep — and dark. Founded in 1762 along the Potomac River, it's one of the oldest towns in the state.
