In a season of loss, how does absence offer a greater understanding of presence? This week, Terry Tempest Williams brings us into her love affair with Utah's Great Salt Lake, a place that nourishes twelve million migrating birds, bison herds, and deep-rooted human communities, and which is now in retreat. Contemplating how we might be in service to this dying lake, Terry summons us to be present with the losses in the landscape. Read the story. "Hey – So what do you do?” Why is it that we always default to work when we get this question. its like many of us have let our jobs become the center of how we see ourselves. This slowly happens to many of us, as work occupies more mental and emotional space.I asked 50 people in martech and operations how they stay happy under sustained pressure. This 3 part series – titled “50 Operators share the systems that keep them happy” explores each of these layers through the lived experience of operators who feel the same pressure you probably feel right now.Today we close out the series with part 3: meaning. We'll hear from 19 people and we'll cover:(00:00) - Teaser (01:08) - Intro / In This Episode (04:27) - Rich Waldron: Auditing Whether Work Is Actually Moving (06:49) - Samia Syed: Tracking Personal Growth (08:33) - Jonathan Kazarian: Tracking Growth Across Life Health and Work (10:11) - Kim Hacker: Choosing Roles With Daily Visible Impact (12:21) - Mac Reddin: Checking Work Against 3 Personal Conditions (14:11) - Chris Golec: Choosing Early Stage Building Work (15:19) - Hope Barrett: Feeding curiosity across multiple domains (17:45) - Simon Lejeune: Treating work like a game (19:52) - Ana Mourão: A mental buffer between noticing and doing (21:46) - Tiankai Feng: Anticipation planning (25:30) - István Mészáros: Choosing Who You Are When Work Ends (29:52) - Danielle Balestra: Feeding Interests Unrelated to Work (31:42) - Jeff Lee: Continuing to Build Personal Projects After the Workday Ends (33:23) - John Saunders: Keeping a builder practice outside of work (34:41) - Ashley Faus: Group Creative Rituals Outside of work (37:40) - Anna Aubucho: Maintaining a second self through solo creative practice (39:56) - Ruari Baker: Preserving Identity Through Regular Travel (42:15) - Guta Tolmasquim: Building a personal product roadmap (45:37) - Pam Boiros: Feeding identities that have nothing to do with work (47:52) - Outro All that and a bunch more stuff after a quick word from 2 of our awesome partners.A lot of the operators I chatted with don't talk about happiness like it suddenly arrives. They describe it as something you feel when things actually start to move. Our first guest gets there right away by tying happiness directly to progress, the kind that tells you you're not stuck.Rich Waldron: Auditing Whether Work Is Actually MovingFirst up is Rich Waldron, Co-founder and CEO at Tray.ai. He's also a dad, and a mediocre golfer.Progress sits at the center of Rich's definition of career happiness. He treats it as a felt sense rather than a dashboard metric. When work advances in a direction that makes sense to him, his energy steadies. When that movement slows or stalls, frustration surfaces quickly and spreads into everything else. That feeling becomes a cue to examine direction rather than effort.“Happiness is mostly driven by progress.”That framing resonates because it names something many operators struggle to articulate. Long hours can feel sustainable when the work moves forward. Light workloads can feel draining when days repeat without traction. Progress gives work narrative weight. It answers a quiet internal question about whether today connects to something that matters tomorrow.Rich also points to patterns that erode meaning over time.Roles with little challenge dull attention, even when the pay is generous.Constant activity without visible change breeds irritation that lingers after work ends. Both conditions interrupt momentum. The mind keeps searching for movement that never arrives. Rest stops working because unresolved motion occupies every quiet moment.Progress also shapes identity beyond work. When things move in the right direction, attention releases its grip on unfinished problems. Rich links that release to showing up better at home. He describes being more present as a parent because mental energy is no longer trapped in work that feels stuck. Forward motion restores proportion. Work keeps its place as one part of a full life rather than the dominant one.Balance emerges as a byproduct of this orientation. You choose problems that move. You notice when progress fades. You adjust before frustration hardens into burnout. That rhythm preserves meaning over long career arcs and keeps work aligned with the person you want to remain.Key takeaway: Track progress as a signal of meaning. When your work moves in a direction you respect, it stays contained, your identity stays intact, and the rest of your life receives the attention it deserves.Samia Syed: Tracking Personal GrowthThat's Samia Syed, Director of Growth Marketing at Dropbox.  She's also a mother, outdoor fanatic, and an avid hiker.Progress became the scorecard Samia relies on to keep her career from consuming her sense of self. Early professional years trained her to chase perfection, because perfection looked measurable, respectable, and safe. That mindset quietly tightened the frame around what counted as a good day. Effort increased, expectations rose with it, and satisfaction stayed elusive because the standard never settled.Progress creates a different rhythm. It shows up in motion you can recognize without squinting. Samia pays attention to signals that accumulate instead of reset:Teams moving forward together rather than cycling through urgency.People developing judgment and confidence over time.Personal growth that feels lived-in rather than optimized.A child learning, changing, and surprising you in ways no metric could predict. That framing matters because it ties work back to a broader life rather than isolating it. Progress carries meaning when it connects professional effort to personal identity. Samia talks about watching her daughter grow with the same care she gives to her team's evolution. Growth becomes something you witness and participate in, rather than something you chase or defend. That mindset keeps work from becoming the only place where worth gets measured.“Anchoring on perfection as your metric for happiness sets you up for unhappiness. Progress is where I find it now.”Many careers quietly reward polish over development and composure over learning. Progress resists that pressure by valuing direction and continuity. It leaves room for ambition while protecting a sense of self that exists beyond job titles. You still push forward, but you also recognize that your life holds meaning across roles, seasons, and relationships that no performance system can fully capture.Key takeaway: Track progress instead of perfection. Pay attention to growth across work and life, because meaning comes from seeing yourself develop over time, not from chasing a standard that keeps moving.Jonathan Kazarian: Tracking Growth Across Life Health and WorkThat's Jonathan Kazarian, Founder & CEO of Accelevents. He's also father and a frequent sailor.Jonathan keeps work from consuming his identity by actively measuring progress in more than one place at the same time. He pays attention to movement in business, health, and personal life, and he revisits those signals regularly. That habit creates distance between who he is and what he works on. Work becomes one lane of progress instead of the entire road.Growth carries real weight in his thinking because it shows up as momentum you can feel. He talks about forward movement as something tangible, the sense that effort today pushes life somewhere better tomorrow. Setbacks still happen, but they do not erase t...

Silicon Bites Ep285 | 2026-02-14 | Today: Munich: the “child of Europe” speech, the missing commitments, and the price of self-deception. Dateline: Munich Security Conference, Friday–Saturday, 13–14 Feb 2026.Europe cheers Secretary of State Marco Rubio, principally because he did not harangue and berate the audience, did not hector and threaten. His tone was conciliatory, and the audience gave him an ovation. But this was a shameful spectacle of weakness and desperation. Europe revealed that it would give anything to return to ‘normal', to how things were before Trump. They revealed that they'd still rather hang off the coat tails of the U.S. than stand up and face reality. This was a spectacle of timid and fearful children, not adults or leaders. It was even more desperate, because Rubio did not bring a return to ‘normality'. His tone may have been soft, but there was no change of substance detectable, no shift in national security policy. Hiding beneath the soft fabrics of his words, lies a cold and dark truth – the U.S. intends to meddle in European democratic affairs, promote populists and disruptors. Weaken the continent, not strengthen it. Rubio came as a wolf in sheep's clothing to Munich, and European leaders and analysts duly flocked to praise him as signifying a return to normality. Normal is over and is not coming back. It's time to wake up; time to grow up and cut the umbilical cord with a U.S. that has other priorities, and other distractions. It may respect us if we show strength, independence and innovation, but never if we continue to show weakness. ----------SUPPORT THE CHANNEL:https://www.buymeacoffee.com/siliconcurtainhttps://www.patreon.com/siliconcurtain----------SOURCES:Reuters — Rubio tells Munich security forum US and Europe “belong together” (Feb 14, 2026).Reuters — Rubio casts US as “child of Europe,” critical friend to allies (Feb 14, 2026). In this episode, we meet Morana, the Slavic goddess of winter, death and necessary endings. She governs the season when the land grows quiet, when the sun weakens and when life turns inward. In traditional belief, winter marked a descent toward Nav the realm of the dead and Morana presided over this liminal threshold. We explore her role in rites including the burning or drowning of her effigy to symbolically release winter and welcome renewal. We also look at her deeper associations with dark waters, rivers and crossings — spaces long understood as boundaries between worlds. As a goddess of necessary endings Morana speaks to grief, burnout, identity shifts and the pauses that precede transformation. Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Read more about Project23 and partner with us as we teach every verse of the Bible on video. Our text today is 1 Corinthians 4:6-7. Pride rarely shows up overnight. It inflates slowly—one comparison at a time. The Corinthians were comparing leaders, comparing gifts, comparing wins, and comparing influence. Every comparison pumped a little more air into the ego. So Paul says: I have applied all these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, brothers, that you may learn by us not to go beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it? — 1 Corinthians 4:6–7 There it is: "puffed up." Inflated. Air-filled. Hollow confidence built on comparing yourself to someone else. Comparison is spiritual bloat. It makes you look bigger, but it always makes you weaker. Paul doesn't just call it pride—he shows what fuels it: You compare your strengths to someone else's weakness. You compare your wins to someone else's struggles. You compare your gifting to someone else's calling. And suddenly, you're "puffed up in favor of one against another." Comparison always produces two outcomes: inflation or deflation. Neither leads to humility. So Paul places a pin in the ego with one question: "What do you have that you did not receive?" It's one of the most humbling sentences in the chapter. Your gifts? Received. Your opportunities? Received. Your abilities? Received. Your influence? Received. Your successes? Received. When you realize everything is a gift, boasting feels ridiculous. You didn't earn the breath you're breathing. You received it. When you remember everything comes from God, something beautiful happens: The bloating stops. The ego shrinks. The comparisons fade. Gratitude rises. Because you can't be "puffed up" when you know you're living on received grace. Therefore, puffed-up faith pops under pressure. So stay grounded. Stay grateful. Stay aware that everything you have comes from a generous God—not a comparison chart. DO THIS: Identify one area where comparison has inflated or deflated you. Then replace comparison with gratitude by thanking God for what you've received. ASK THIS: Where am I most tempted to compare myself with others? What gift from God have I been treating like something I earned? How would gratitude—not comparison—change my posture today? PRAY THIS: Father, expose the places where I've inflated myself through comparison. Remind me that everything I have is received from You. Make me humble, grounded, and grateful. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Give Me Jesus"

In this episode, Brian welcomes John from Indiana for a gripping conversation that dives headfirst into the strange, unsettling, and deeply fascinating edges of the paranormal. John shares his journey from lifelong skeptic to reluctant believer, a transformation sparked by a ghost hunt at the Randolph County Infirmary that challenged everything he thought he knew. From there, the experiences only escalate. He recounts chilling encounters in Ohio's Tar Hollow State Park, where unexplained stenches, heavy movements, and unnatural sounds hinted at something far from ordinary—possibly even Bigfoot itself. The conversation takes a darker turn as John describes a terrifying late-night drive that brought him face-to-face with a gray, humanoid figure crossing the road, an encounter eerily reminiscent of what many refer to as a “pale crawler.”Together, Brian and John explore possible explanations for these phenomena, weaving in theories involving ancient Native American mounds, burial sites, and the idea that certain locations may act as catalysts for high strangeness. John also introduces his podcast, Myths, Monsters, and the Unexplained, where he continues to investigate cryptids, folklore, and firsthand encounters that refuse to fit neatly into our understanding of reality. This episode blurs the line between skepticism and belief and asks the question: what happens when the unexplained starts following you home?Myths Monsters and Mullets YouTube ChannelGet Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.

Scarlet Hollow is a successful indie video game – and that's no small feat. It's been a long journey, and the game is made almost entirely by two people: Abby Howard and Tony Howard-Arias of Black Tabby Games. Along the way, they even took a break to make another hit game called Slay the Princess. I talk with Abby and Tony about how animating Abby's drawings allowed them to build a game where the players have seemingly endless choices and romance options in a Southern Gothic town under threat from supernatural forces. After a three-year wait, chapter five of Scarlet Hollow is finally being released in February.   Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Don't Panic, But Don't Wait: What To Do If Termites Are Eating Your House

Faith Pest Control North Georgia Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 27, 2026 7:51

I've been in the pest control business here in Jasper, Georgia, for a long time. I've seen a lot of folks walk out into their garage or look at their baseboards and feel that sudden sink in their stomach. You see a little pile of wings, some “mud tubes” climbing up your foundation, or—worse—you actually see the wood crumbling. The first thing I want to tell you is: Take a deep breath. Your house isn't going to fall down by tomorrow morning. But, you can't ignore it either. Here in North Georgia, we deal primarily with Eastern Subterranean Termites. They are hungry, they are persistent, and they work 24/7. If you've spotted signs of these “silent destroyers,” here is exactly what you should do. 1. Stop and Observe (Don't Spray the Raid!) Your first instinct might be to grab a can of bug spray and soak the area. Please, don’t do that. Subterranean termites live in massive colonies deep underground. If you spray the ones you see on the surface, you might kill a few hundred, but you'll alert the rest of the colony. They'll simply seal off that tunnel and pop up somewhere else in your house where you can't see them. You want a professional to see the active “trails” so we can track them back to the source. 2. Save a Sample If you see winged insects (swarmers), try to catch a few in a jar or a plastic baggie. Termite swarmers look a lot like flying ants to the untrained eye, but the treatment for ants is a whole lot different than the treatment for termites. Termites have straight antennae and equal-length wings. Ants have “elbowed” antennae and wings of different lengths. 3. Check for the “Mud Tubes” Termites are soft-bodied insects. They need moisture to survive, so they build little tunnels made of mud and saliva to travel from the dirt into your wooden floor joists. Look along your foundation, in your crawlspace, or behind your HVAC unit. If you see what looks like dried veins of Georgia red clay climbing up your wall, you've got a highway leading straight into your home. 4. Look for the “Hidden” Signs Sometimes you don’t see the bugs; you see their leftovers. Keep an eye out for: Bubbling paint: It often looks like water damage, but it's actually termites eating the paper backing of the drywall. Hollow-sounding wood: Tap on your baseboards or windowsill. If it sounds like a drum, the inside has likely been hollowed out. Piles of wings: After they swarm, termites shed their wings. You'll often find these on windowsills or near light fixtures. Why “DIY” Doesn’t Work for Termites I'm a big fan of folks being handy around the house, but termites are one area where you really need a pro. To actually protect your home, you have to create a continuous barrier around the entire perimeter or use a specialized baiting system that the termites take back to the queen. At Faith Pest Control, we don’t just “spray.” We investigate. We look at the moisture levels in your crawlspace and the “conducive conditions” (like mulch piled too high) that invited them in to begin with. The Faith Pest Control Promise If you're seeing activity in Jasper, Talking Rock, or anywhere here in Pickens County, give us a call. We offer a 100% “Make You Happy” Money Back Guarantee. If you aren’t satisfied with our service, we'll come back and make it right, or we'll refund your money. It's that simple. Your home is likely your biggest investment. Don’t let a bug the size of a grain of rice eat away your equity. The post Don't Panic, But Don't Wait: What To Do If Termites Are Eating Your House first appeared on Faith Pest Control.

There's a moment that doesn't get talked about enough. It comes after you start saying no. After you stop over-explaining. After you stop contorting yourself to keep everyone comfortable. At first, it feels powerful. Liberating. Like finally exhaling. Then it gets weird. You feel untethered. Hollow. Disoriented. You start wondering who you even are without being the reliable one, the fixer, the emotional glue. This is the identity hangover. In this episode, I unpack: Why people-pleasing is an identity, not just a habit. The strange emptiness that shows up when old patterns fall away. Why that discomfort means you are doing it right. How to navigate the messy middle without running back to overgiving. If you are in that tender in-between phase, this episode is for you. If this episode hits somewhere tender, you might feel very at home inside The Done Era, my community for recovering people-pleasers who are done abandoning themselves.

Over the next few weeks, I'm gonna be sharing my new book with you—start to finish. The whole thing. It's called Bigfoot Country. All told, it's around eight hours of narration. So, I'll be putting it out in multiple episodes. And honestly... I've been sitting on this for a long time. I'm excited—and a little nervous—to finally put it out there. But before we jump in, I wanna take a minute. Just you and me.What you're about to hear is loosely based on my life. Some of it happened exactly the way I tell it. No embellishment, no polish. Other parts are rooted in real experiences—real people, real moments, real emotions—but maybe stretched a bit, or reimagined, to help the story breathe. And then there are parts where… well, you get to decide what you believe.I also wanna be upfront about something. Early on, you might find yourself wondering where this is all headed. There's a lot of groundwork—family, childhood, personal history. Just know this: it's going somewhere. This book is about Bigfoot. That's the destination. I promise. Just trust me long enough to get there. At its heart, this is a story about my earliest experiences with the strange and unexplained. It starts with something that happened to me when I was twelve years old—an encounter with what I believe was a Sasquatch. That moment stayed with me. It shaped a lot of who I became. And for years, I struggled with how—or even if—I should ever tell that story. Because how do you talk about something the world insists isn't real? How do you open yourself up like that, knowing people are gonna judge you, doubt you, or dismiss you entirely? But these stories have always mattered to me. This book has always mattered. And at some point, I realized I was done keeping it all tucked away. Here's the thing, though—I didn't just write about Bigfoot. I wrote about me. All of me. My childhood. My parents. My failures. My struggles. And yeah… Dani.I know that part isn't gonna sit well with everyone. I get that. Some folks are gonna have opinions, and that's their right. But for me, leaving any of that out would've been dishonest. I can't ask you to trust me with these experiences and then hide pieces of who I am. I can't tell my story without including the person who stood beside me through the hardest parts of it. That's just not how I live, and it's not how this book was written.Believe me, I thought about sanding down the rough edges. Making it cleaner. Safer. Easier to swallow. Cutting out the parts that might make people uncomfortable. But I couldn't do it. I've spent too much of my life holding back, and I'm done with that.So this is me. This is my story. All of it. Some of what you'll hear happened exactly as I describe it. Some of it is how I imagine things might have gone—if the timing had been different, if I'd pushed harder, if the world worked the way I think it sometimes should. And one last thing before we start—this is Book One. There's more coming. A lot more. This is just the beginning. I hope you enjoy Bigfoot Country... as much as I did writing it. Part One is called The Hollow, and it begins in September of 1984. I was eleven years old, just a few months shy of twelve, and my family had just moved to a place called Lyerly, Georgia. Population next to nothing. No stoplight. One gas station. The kind of town where everybody knew everybody's business before you even finished doing it. We moved into an old house at the end of a dirt road—a house that looked like something had crawled there to die. White paint gone gray. Porch sagging in the middle. Eighty acres of woods stretching out behind it like a wall. My father, Jerry Patterson, was a drinker. A man whose silence usually meant a storm was building. My mother, Jean, was small but fierce in the ways that mattered—even if she couldn't fix the things that were broken in our family. She stayed. She always stayed. The woods became my escape. I spent those early weeks mapping the land, building forts out of fallen branches and rotting tarps, disappearing into the trees whenever the tension at home got too thick. I learned every trail, every landmark, every corner of that property. All except one. There was a section way back at the far edge, where our land butted up against the national forest, that I couldn't bring myself to enter. Every time I got close, something pushed me back. A wrongness I couldn't name. A feeling like walking into a cold spot in a warm room. One day in late October, I decided I'd had enough of being scared. I was almost twelve years old. Too old for this. So I grabbed my BB gun and headed out to prove to myself there was nothing back there worth fearing. I was wrong. What I found was a clearing with a depression in the ground where something big had been bedding down. The smell hit me first—wet dog mixed with a dumpster behind a butcher shop. And then the sounds. Heavy footsteps. Bipedal. Something walking on two legs that weighed more than any man. Huffing. Growling. Sounds that rose and fell in patterns that almost seemed like language. It charged at me through the underbrush, stopped maybe twenty feet away, and just... breathed. Watched. Decided. It let me go.I ran home faster than I'd ever run in my life. And I never told a soul. But that wasn't the only strangeness that followed us to that house. At night, I started hearing voices in the walls—whispery, indistinct, speaking in languages I couldn't understand. A dark figure began appearing at the foot of my bed, a void shaped like a man, watching me while I lay frozen and unable to scream. Scratching moved through the walls like something was circling me. Three heavy knocks shook my bedroom door one night, and when I opened it, no one was there—but downstairs, a fire was burning in a fireplace we never used, in a chimney my father said was blocked.Something was in that house. Something that had been there before us and didn't want us there. And then, in January, everything changed. My mother got sick. Skin Cancer. The doctors gave her six months, maybe a year. And my father—the man who was supposed to hold us together—disappeared. Shacked up with some woman in another town, drowning himself in pills and booze while his wife was dying and his son was alone. I ended up staying with my best friend Brad Henderson's family. They took me in without question, gave me a bed and a place at their table. And every weekend, someone drove me to Atlanta so I could watch my mother fade away in a hospital room. She lost her hair. Lost her weight. Lost everything except her will to fight.Against all odds, she won. Almost a year to the day after her diagnosis, the doctors told us her cancer was in remission. She came home for Christmas, weighing maybe eighty pounds, wrapped in a scarf my friend's mother had knitted for her. And the first thing she did was look at my father's empty chair and say the words I'd been waiting to hear my whole life. We're leaving. But leaving wasn't simple. My father showed up one last time, took my mother's pain medication right out of the medicine cabinet, and vanished. He started selling those pills around town—the same town that had taken up a collection to help us, the same community that had rallied around my dying mother while he was nowhere to be found People got angry. The wrong kind of people. One night in January, I woke up to the sound of voices and vehicles in the yard. I looked out my window and saw twenty figures in white robes standing around a burning cross. The Klan had come to our house. Not because of us—because of him. Because of the shame he'd brought on his family in a place that took such things seriously. We left Lyerly two weeks later. My mother divorced my father, took back her maiden name, and we started over in a tiny apartment in Summerville. Two bedrooms. Thin walls. Stained carpet. But it was ours. And it was safe. I got a job at Dairy Queen. Went to school. Helped my mother however I could. The nightmares followed me—the dark figure, the dreams of something chasing me through endless woods—but I buried it all. Pushed it down. Told myself it didn't matter anymore. But I never forgot what I heard in those woods. Never forgot that huffing, that growling, those footsteps too heavy to be human. I knew it was real. I knew it was out there. And someday, I was going to find it again. But first, I had to grow up. First, I had to survive. That's Part One of Bigfoot Country.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.

Beyond The Horizon
The Epstein Failure That Makes Dan Bongino's Tough Guy Act Ring Hollow (1/10/26)

Dan Bongino's podcasting comeback is being sold like a heroic return, but it reads more like a retreat dressed up as defiance. For years, he built an audience by pounding the table about Epstein, corruption, and elite protection, casting himself as the guy who would never bend, never sell out, never shut up. Then he took a leadership role inside the very institution that sat on Epstein, protected him, slow-walked accountability, and still refuses full transparency. When that moment demanded courage, confrontation, and follow-through, Bongino delivered silence, excuses, and eventually an exit. No bombshells. No whistleblowing. No scorched-earth truth. Just a quiet pivot back to podcasting, followed by a shrug and an implicit “it's complicated.” The tough talk evaporated the second it required actual risk. What makes the whole act collapse is that Bongino now postures like nothing changed, as if the audience is supposed to forget the standard he set for everyone else. He didn't expose a cover-up. He didn't force disclosures. He didn't resign in protest while naming names. Instead, he came back and redirected his anger toward safer targets while avoiding the one issue that defined his credibility. The Epstein failure isn't a footnote, it's the test he failed in real time. You can't spend years branding yourself as the last honest man standing and then expect applause for returning to the mic empty-handed. The tough guy persona only works if it survives contact with power, and in the Epstein moment that mattered most, it folded completely.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

2026: A HOLLOW SUPERPOWER Colleagues Gordon Chang and Charles Burton. Chang and Burton speculate that the US operation in Venezuela exposes China's inability to protect its allies, making Beijing appear "hollow." Chang argues this weakens China's threat against Taiwan, while Burton suggests that with China's economy failing and its allies collapsing, the regime faces internal instability and a loss of global prestige.
