A new MP3 sermon from Grace Audio Treasures is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: Hollow religion! Subtitle: Puritan Devotional Speaker: C. H. Spurgeon Broadcaster: Grace Audio Treasures Event: Devotional Date: 5/24/2025 Bible: 2 Timothy 3:4-5; Titus 1:16 Length: 4 min.
2 Timothy 3:4-5, "Lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them!" Titus 1:16, "They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him--being detestable, disobedient, and unfit for doing anything good." These verses pierce like a double-edged sword, exposing the solemn danger of mere external religion. They speak of those who have all the appearance of godliness--the vocabulary, the rituals, the reputation--but are inwardly estranged from the transforming power of God. They are not described as atheists or pagans, but as professors of the truth. They are not outside the church, but within its walls. Their conduct, however, betrays them. While their lips speak of God--their lives declare allegiance to self, sin, and the world. This strikes at the heart of false religion: people content with the form of godliness, while their hearts chase worldly pleasure! Paul warns that such people are "lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God." This is the spiritual climate of our age: entertainment reigns, self is worshiped, and personal fulfillment is the supreme good. But the genuine believer has been crucified with Jesus. He no longer lives for fleeting pleasures, but for the glory of God. The Spirit who dwells within him produces genuine holiness, not just the shell of religion. Where the Spirit has not wrought new birth, there may be "a form of godliness," but never its life-giving power. Titus 1:16 goes deeper. It describes those who "profess to know God, but by their deeds deny Him." Here is the sobering reality: a profession of faith is not the same as possession of faith. Words are cheap. Do our

Set in East Texas, it is an epic, and age-old, story of greed and generational betrayal—where vengeance is swift and forgiveness a long time coming.” Kathleen Kent, NYT bestselling … Continue reading Episode 164: Interview with James Wade, author of Hollow Out the Dark →

In the space of two minutes, Gov. Gavin Newsom reordered a political standoff over California's housing crisis. The governor on Wednesday threw his weight behind a push to turbocharge housing construction statewide by slashing local restrictions and environmental reviews. With divisions among legislative Democrats imperiling a package of bills, Newsom announced during a news conference that he would instead advance those policy changes through the budget, over which he has considerably more leverage.

On this episode, we dig into the chilling case of a young mother in Alder Creek who thought she'd found her family's forever home—until the night she saw her husband sitting at the edge of the bed… hours before he was due home. What began with the sound of crinkling plastic turned into a series of terrifying visitations—shadowy figures mimicking loved ones, a bedroom that seemed to breathe with unseen energy, and a presence that returned again and again during the darkest hours. With nowhere else to turn, she shared her story in a desperate plea for answers.

Functional Ecology author Dr Abbey Yatsko chats to Amelia Macho about her research article, 'Why are trees hollow? Termites, microbes, and tree internal stem damage in a tropical savanna' Abbey's study sought to understand how two important biotic decomposers, termites and microbes, decompose wood on the inside of living tree stems, shedding a light on previously concealed wood decomposition dynamics occurring inside trees. Abbey's research has implications for for accurate carbon estimation across savanna ecosystems, and suggests that tree carbon models should make efforts to incorporate the effects of internal stem damage. On this episode, we dig into a chilling story from a quiet neighborhood with a deadly past. When a woman invites her psychic friend for a visit, she expects a peaceful weekend. What she gets is a detailed, horrifying account of a murder-suicide that took place in the very house she once lived in—complete with chilling visions and unexplainable details about rooms he had never seen. As her friend unravels the violent story of a jealous husband, a murdered wife, and a hidden child, the past begins to bleed into the present. Was the elderly woman in the tub years later a victim of fate—or something far more sinister? And why, even now, does the storeroom still feel cold?

The Cinematography Podcast Episode 308: Jessica Lee Gagné Cinematographer Jessica Lee Gagné is an essential creative force behind Severance on Apple TV+. She has an expanded role in the show's second season with a producer credit and directs the pivotal episode 207, “Chikhai Bardo.” The series' unique look and world-building is meticulously crafted through extensive testing and close collaboration between her and showrunner Ben Stiller, who also directs the majority of episodes. For Severance Season 2, Jessica embraced a darker aesthetic, intentionally tweaking the look from the previous season. Even within the artificial office environment of Lumon, she pursues a blend of natural realism and heightened visuals, favoring practical, in-camera effects whenever possible. Location shooting for the episodes “Woe's Hollow” and “Sweet Vitriol” required flexibility due to changing weather conditions. Unexpected foggy weather worked in the crew's favor while shooting “Woe's Hollow” and enhanced the spooky atmosphere of Irving's nightmare sequence. Inside the Lumon offices, lighting is pre-planned as part of the production design, with lights built into the ceiling and the set. Season 2 introduces more complex and colorful lighting cues compared to the first season, especially in the finale. Vibrant green and blue lighting creates a feeling of chaos during the “Choreography and Merriment” marching band performance, and intense red emergency lighting strobes down the halls as Mark and Helly attempt their escape. “Red is a color that we don't use in the show in general,” notes Jessica. “You have this association with love, passion, intensity with the color red. And then in the final shot, we land in this deep red moment with them, that was transferred onto film in the end and rescanned to give it an actual authentic feel.” Jessica decided she wanted to direct for the first time on season two, despite feeling nervous about it. She chose episode 207 “Chikhai Bardo,” which explores Gemma and Mark's past and depicts how Gemma is tormented at Lumon in different severed tests. “This was something that I really deeply wanted,” she explains. “I realized that on this show with the crew that knew me, the cast that knew me, with Ben (Stiller) supporting me and the producers as well, that this opportunity would never come up for me again in my life. I really needed to just go for it and give it my all.” Jessica also was director of photography for the episode, since she felt so familiar with creating the show's look. However, the dual role was challenging. “That was harder,” she admits. “And then working with myself was weird. I realized on set that everything was going so fast.” There was no pausing for a separate director-cinematographer discussion after takes, which meant turning to others for validation and support. Directing the cast was a rewarding experience and they welcomed her leadership. Jessica had extensive conversations with actress Dichen Lachman (Gemma) beforehand to explore her character's emotional state and shifting personalities within the episode. A significant element of episode 207's visual language involves sequences depicting Mark and Gemma's past, which were captured on film. While Severance primarily uses digital cameras, Jessica opted for both 35mm and 16mm film for the flashback moments. Borrowing a Bolex camera from the gaffer, she and director Ben Stiller shot some of these intimate sequences between Mark and Gemma on the fly. Jessica is currently in the process of directing her first feature. She will always have a deep appreciation for cinematography. “I feel like I have so much respect for that craft," she says. "After being in it for 15 years, I know what goes into it. I know how you have to be such a giving person to do that. And I really do love it so much.” You can see Severance on Apple TV+ Hear our previous interview with Jessica Lee Gagné about Severance Season 1.

Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

We'll explore the eerie tales and scientific theories that make these hallowed grounds a focal point for ghostly encounters. (Unveiling The Secrets of Spirits At Cemeteries) *** Ever driven down a dark, winding country road and felt the hair on the back of your neck stand up? It's very possible you did if you were traveling down Sleepy Hollow Road. This isn't the Washington Irving tale of a hamlet in New York State – this is an infamous road in Kentucky with eerie legends of ghostly hearses, time warps, satanic rituals and haunted bridges. (The Sleepy Hollow of Kentucky) *** In the picturesque village of Bennington, Vermont, 18-year-old Paula Jean Welden disappeared on a chilly December afternoon in 1946. The case took many twists, including a fruitless search in the wilderness, misleading clues, and even the formation of the Vermont State Police due to criticism of the investigation. To this day, Paula's fate remains unknown. (Vanished: The Unsolved Disappearance of Paula Jean Welden”) *** In 1968, Spain experienced an unprecedented wave of UFO and humanoid sightings that left many mystified, terrified… and mesmerized. From encounters with mysterious figures in homes, to bizarre sightings outdoors, 1968 had the entire country of Spain talking about aliens from outer space. (1968: The Year Of High Strangeness) *** Despite humanity's efforts to control nature, sometimes the natural world pushes back in unexpected and chaotic ways. From a pigeon poop-induced blackout in Japan to a squirrel terrorizing a Welsh town, animals can disrupt our lives… and sometimes in humorous ways. (Man Vs Nature – When Animals Wreak Havoc) *** On a stormy night in April 1893, two condemned prisoners at Sing Sing Prison blinded a guard with pepper spray, and executed a daring escape down the Hudson River that left authorities baffled and the public enthralled. (The Great Escape From Sing Sing) *** You seemed to like my new film noir story idea, so I have another Murder Noir tonight – based on a true case from Halloween Day, 1981 when 11-year-old Karl Heikell told his parents he was going for a walk in Calumet, Michigan. He never returned home. (Murder Noir: The Case of the Vanishing Trick-or-Treater) *** Did pterosaurs, the ancient flying reptiles, truly vanish millions of years ago, or do they still soar through our skies? We'll look at claims of modern-day sightings, some controversial theories, and a tantalizing photograph that challenges their extinction. Could these prehistoric flying giants still be among us in hiding?CHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS (All Times Approximate and Only Accurate For the Commercial Version)…00:00:00.000 = Lead-In00:00:46.290 = Show Open00:04:10.752 = Unveiling The Secrets of Spirits In Cemeteries00:15:33.766 = The Great Escape From Sing Sing00:20:33.377 = Vanished: the Unsolved Disappearance of Paula Jean Welden00:26:46.114 = The Sleepy Hollow of Kentucky00:35:19.474 = 1968: The Year of High Strangeness00:42:27.033 = Man Vs Nature – When Animals Wreak Havoc00:53:40.741 = In Search Of Living Pterosaurs (links to photos below)00:57:44.402 = Show CloseSOURCES AND RESOURCES FROM THE EPISODE…“In Search of Living Pterosaurs” by David Albaugh for BasementOfTheBizarre.com (used with permission):https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/yjvb29mrPHOTO OF PTEROSAUR FROM CIVIL WAR: https://weirddarkness.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/PterosaurPhotoFromCivlWar.pngPHOTO OF PTEROSAUR FROM OLD WEST, NAILED TO BARN: https://weirddarkness.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/PterosaurPhotoFromOldWest.png“Unveiling The Secrets Of Spirits In Cemeteries” sources: ***Encyclopaedia Britannica:https://www.britannica.com/topic/burial-death-rite; ***The World History Encyclopedia:https://www.worldhistory.org/burial/; ***Ecobear: https://ecobear.co/resources/dying-and-death/history-of-cemeteries/; ***ThoughtCo: https://www.thoughtco.com/death-and-burial-customs-1421757; ***Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burial“Vanished: The Unsolved Disappearance of Paula Jean Welden” by Gary Sweeney for The-Line-Up.com (used with permission): https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/2p853yzu“The Sleepy Hollow of Kentucky” source: Todd Atteberry, GothicHorrorStories.com: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/e57rjdm8“1968: The Year of High Strangeness” source: Brent Swancer, MysteriousUniverse.com: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/yckpzv8m“Man Vs Nature – When Animal Wreak Havoc” source: George Wilson, ListVerse.com: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/nkc5nyr6“The Great Escape From Sing Sing” source: Robert Wilhelm, MurderByGaslight.com: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/yc2mj26d=====(Over time links seen above may become invalid, disappear, or have different content. In Episode 105 of We Saved You a Spot, it's all about growing up—small towns, childhood memories, and Easter reflections. Barbi shares how she taught Hannah the difference between cesspools and septic tanks (small-town life, y'all!), and the two reminisce about their favorite cousin moments from back in the day. Plus, Barbi passes along a powerful Easter message inspired by a story from her pastor… involving a hollow chocolate bunny. It's nostalgic, heartfelt, and just the right mix of silly and sweet!

Jeff Belanger and Ray Auger step into the forgotten past of The Ruin of Greenbank's Hollow in Danville, Vermont. What remains today—just cellar holes and crumbling foundations—was once a thriving mill village, built on the promise of industry and prosperity. In 1849, Greenbank established a massive woolen mill, turning the town into a bustling hub of commerce and life. But one fateful day, tragedy struck, wiping out the town's livelihood and leaving behind a ghost town in every sense of the word. What happened to Greenbank's Hollow? And do echoes of its past still linger among the ruins? Hollow Earth is a theory proposing that the planet Earth is entirely hollow or contains a substantial interior space. The crux of the hollow earth theory is that the earth is a shell with walls about 800 miles thick. In the polar regions there are holes 1400 miles across, with edges that curve smoothly from the outside of the shell around to the inside. A sea or surface traveler could proceed over an edge of the hole, like an ant crawling over the lip of a coffee mug from the outside to the inside, and not be aware that he was actually entering the interior of the earth. Dr. Raymond Bernard or Walter Siegmeister (we'll talk about him later) explains that the holes have never been seen from the air because pilots are fooled by their compasses into believing that they are crossing the pole, when they are actually following the hole's "magnetic rim". Thus aircraft never really fly over the geographic poles, which naturally mark the centers of the holes themselves. As irrefutable proof of his claim, he cites Admiral Byrd's statement, "I'd like to see that land beyond the Pole. That area beyond the Pole is the Great Unknown."Some conspiracy theorists believe the Earth is hollow—and that superior 'alien' humans, Vikings and Nazis live inside. Buckle up, Butterflies. This week, we're cracking open more conspiracies than a Reddit thread at 3AM. In Episode 138, we uncover, The mysterious and probably too fancy Council of 300 — are they controlling the world, or just really bad at group projects? The spiral in the sky over Europe, alien light show or someone spinning a fidget spinner in the stratosphere? Historical UFO sightings that'll make you say “wait… what?” The curious case of the OpenAI whistleblower. And finally, we examine satellite images of the North Pole that definitely (maybe) show the entrance to Hollow Earth. Yes, there's a hole. And yes, we zoomed in. Whether you're a skeptic, a believer, or just here for the giggles, this one's got all the tinfoil and none of the boredom. Tap play, stay weird, and don't trust spiral clouds.#UFO #CouncilOf300 #HollowEarth #OpenAIWhistleblower #ConspiracyTheories #ComedyPodcast #NinjasAreButterflies #FunnyPodcast
