Putting yourself first for once ... for one whole week. I think it’s true that many of us jump to look after others and put ourselves last on the list for self care. It took me a long time to feel the difference between self care and selfishness, but that point of view really made me see what I was doing to myself in a split second. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/love-mondays/message
Humans are innovators, and we've been finding really creative ways of being a community in the current circumstances. Finding ways to be together and pull together is important for us all to feel that human connection. In this episode I talk about a time when people pulled around me when I wasn't expecting it, which inspired me to write a song that became the title track of my last studio album. I also read an extract from my book The Stories Behind The Songs featuring the song. www.diellemusic.com www.facebook.com/diellemusicuk --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/love-mondays/message

This week I have been reflecting on how fear has taken seat differently in people. It seems to be one of those emotions that we have less control over, which got me thinking. I know I’m lucky in as much that I am not afraid of the virus per se, and I feel that my loved ones are in a position to be able to take the necessary steps to remain well. Some may call me naive and they may be right, but I am lucky in that I am not afraid. I find myself feeling great empathy for those that do, and wanting to offer some words of comfort. In searching for wiser words than mine, I have found offerings from these souls who’s skill is to comfort people. This week I offer you reflections on fear from Maya Angelou, Nelson Mandela, The Buddha, Joni Mitchell and Eleanor Roosevelt. Results Vs Process In my journey to a more fulfilled life, I have experimented with changing my approach to certain activities, weighing up the value of either the results or the process of each activity. “You are a human being. Not a human doing.” I heard a wise lady say this and it’s stuck with me. She was talking about herself, but it still resonated with me. It’s no secret that I do care about results, and to survive in today’s western world I think it would be naive to pretend that results don’t matter. However, I feel that this can lead to an underlying sense of dissatisfaction that was always kind of bubbling away under the surface. Eastern wisdom encourages us to be present, and considers this as something that needs practice. Here are some areas that I have shifted to focus on the process rather than results, at least some of the time, which has given me a greater sense of satisfaction in my life. http://diellemusic.com/love-mondays/ --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/love-mondays/message
This week I have some wisdom for you from Alice May, author of the trilogy ‘The House That Sat Down’. This is a lighthearted, humorous, semi fictionalised account of Alice’s experience of watching her house fall down before her eyes. Whilst this is an entertaining read, the life lessons Alice has to share are tools she has learned from extraordinarily difficult circumstances.
