Letting Your Dog Off Leash, Is It Worth It?

The Perfect Pup

Letting your dog off leash can seem like a 'dream' scenario, but it comes with inherent risks and drawbacks. In this video, I'll break down 4 "pros" and 4 "cons" to letting your dog run off leash! First things first, it's important to obey leash laws! They are there for a reason and typically help keep you, your dog, and other people and their dogs safe. Here are some of the main cons of letting your dog off leash. -Leash laws can be very limiting as to where you can go with your dog (if you're wanting to be off leash) -You lose control of potentially dangerous situations with other dogs, animals, wildlife, etc. and you really never know how other dogs/animals will react to your dog -Bad habits can be formed like chasing objects, running quickly in other directions (even if your dog comes back to you) -There is an inherent danger of your dog running into bad situations like cars, bikes, etc…. It does happen all the time unfortunately And of course, here are some of the main pros of letting your dog off leash. -Freedom for your dog… it can give them a mental ‘break' from having to be cooped up inside, being beholden to the leash, etc. -Your dog gets an enhanced sniffing experience and that mental exercise can really make your dog's exercise time more beneficial and tiring -Typically your dog will do more running than when attached to you since they aren't having to go at your pace… they'll go forward, come back, etc. and end up getting more exercise than walking that normal distance -You and your dog both are not dealing with a leash and all the challenges that come with it Choosing to let your dog off leash should be a decision you make very carefully. You don't HAVE to let your dog off leash if you're not comfortable with the risks. And ultimately, having your dog on a leash adds a layer of safety to almost any situation. Do you or do you not let your dog off leash? Tell me why in the comments below! Thanks for listening, please leave a review! Covert subversive, anger, final thoughts. Um, as a 53 year old man at the time of this recording, you know, I definitely over the, over my life arc had stripped away various levels of anger, aggressiveness, passive aggressiveness, and I should surely have more room to, to, to, to grow in that regard. And new light will be shed on, on those things for me I am sure. If I get to, as Barbara Karnes gets to say "die from a gradual death and continue my, this relationship to the world, as I relate to this way into this world, as it is". Wow! I just went really heady really quick. Um, anyhow, uh, you know, I, I just had come to that point, as I said, uh, what would that be? Uh, you know, nine years ago where I was fighting with my son yet again, to the point of tears, uh, around this math homework, I think it was, and, and, uh, something needed to change.Mischa Z: 01:24 And, uh, you know, I bought a couple books on anger and, and, uh, that, that show of willingness, um, sparked massive change in me, further massive change, right. And perhaps I wouldn't have needed to change. But, uh, it's much funner to go through the world these days with the attitude of bringing love in every situation. Letting go of the fear of what bringing love, what the result of that may be. And why did I have such a fear of that and why, why, why does it matter? I can maybe get insight to why at a later time, what is important is how I act now. And so one of the key things around that was I could not imagine my life without that bit of edge to drive me. And I briefly mentioned it and perhaps it was episode one or episode two of the covert anger series here that, um, you know, that sort of edge helped push me in sales.Mischa Z: 02:49 Like that edge helped me, helped me prospect. That edge helped me do the uncomfortable work in sales. And, and served its purpose for the universe, right? Not to go too heady on you there, but I try not to hold judgements in these situations anymore. It's like, Hey, you know, if I can step back a few levels, start stripping out judgment. Anyway, that's a whole nother conversation, but I just could not comprehend how, if this character defect is removed from me, who am I going to be? Who is Mischa? Those habits were so ingrained in me. You know, those, that justifiable anger that. That dubious anger of the normal man that, that I justified away as not being anger, as being passionate as being a quirk of my character as being who Mischa is. I could not get my arms around who I would be without that intensity. Like, like, like, like, like it's funny when we throw those words in, instead of the uncomfortable silence, what was going to fill that void?Mischa Z: 04:29 How would I, Mischa, survive in the world without that edge that had served me so well that had paid the bills that had helped me, you know, support a family and perhaps ultimately subversively undermine a family. If people get tired of passive, aggressive, aggressive, aggressive behavior. Um, and anyhow, I, it's an interesting thing. What is going to fill that void? And I can't imagine who am I going to be without it. And I, therefore I can't be without it. And I would challenge you, have you, do you have a thought about some quirks of your character? Like, that's just who I am and maybe the theorist, who would you be without it? And I see that in people, as I see it in myself, I'm like, oh yeah, like they S we, as humans can say, yeah, that's just who I am, but we can't imagine ourselves without it.Mischa Z: 05:33 And, um, you know what I think about that now about various quirks of my character. I'm like, is this something that has run its course? And just because I cannot imagine it not being part of who I am, who am I going to be without it? Like, what it's that's, uh, is there stuff like that sussing around in me, such a great question. I would challenge you listeners. Like, do you have a quirk in your character that you justify as being, that's just who I am. When ultimately it's like, perhaps that could go away and something beautiful could replace it. And so I have just had that, just experience, just that experience, right. I, I was like, can I survive in the world? Can I survive as a sales person? Can I survive in this iteration of myself without that intensity? And it turns out that yes I can and then deed, I can thrive.Mischa Z: 06:50 And indeed I can thrive in relationships. Indeed ceeding that control. Indeed, the willingness to get rid of that, that, that, that lower levels of anger has been replaced by love. In this case love. Like love and source and, you know, God infinite intelligence. Just like the ability to much more than ever in my life over this past nine years and standing learning more and more how to do this, how to bring love in every situation. Without the fear of loss. And, again, I would challenge you that...and this is, this is a bit of who I am, and I can tend to think, well, cause I'm like this everybody's like this. Well, that's absolutely not the case. Some of you listening may have never had these issues or, you know, be like 40 steps ahead. And God bless you. And a couple of you might be right behind me and God bless you too. So the arc of life is super fun. I, I, I love the idea of "can a piece of my character go away", "who I think I am", where I think I can't, who is, "who am I going to be without it?" And I'm here to tell you that something beautiful will be there to replace it. And, uh, that's it. Final thoughts on my covert anger series. Thank you for listening per usual. Love to all have a good day.

But I have a plan. Of course I have a plan.  I'm consulting with a friend of mine to start building abase of core strength and balance that I can leverage to come back healthy.  I'll talk a little bit today about how to treat these seasonal transitions where your body is talking to you.  It's marathon season.  I watched all the folks running the big events like Boston and Chicago and London. Great job everyone.   People were really emotional at these races after waiting so long to run in person.  I forget how important and impactful getting to Boston can be for people.  People ask me if I ran.  I don't know how to answer.  I completed the distance.  I did not run the course on the day.  I  ran loops over in my home town of Groton on Sunday morning.  I ran a 30 second run, 30 second walk cadence and ended up with a time of 5:05ish.  So I guess, technically I ran.  My friends came out and joined me for the first lap.  Tim hung in for the second lap.  I did 5 laps of different lengths and sizes.  I'm not a very prescriptive person.  I just show up and run.  I know roughly what distance the loops are from the town hall in Groton.  I was aiming for 5 plus miles each.  That seemed like a good distance at that pace so I could have a refuel every 80-90 minutes.  The weather was cool, but oddly humid.  I carried one of the soft bottles in my vest.  I did not take Ollie.  I ended up coming back from the 4th loop at 23 miles and change, so to keep it simple I just did that last 3 miles as an out and back on the rail trail.  I won't lie, my legs were not happy with me for the last 10 miles.  That 4th loop ended up being 6ish miles and ran out of water.  But, with the 30-30 cadence I was able to pick up my feet and move each time and did not suffer unduly.  I wasn't' really sore the next days either.  I did see others out on the rail trail who were obviously running their own virtual races.  I listened through some podcasts and had a nice long thoughtful outing.  For nutrition I had a handful of dates.  I had water and a change of shirts and hat at my truck.  It worked out without much fuss.  I was pretty beat up at the end. Felt like I had run a marathon.  So – there ya go – for the veteran runner – you can complete a marathon on zero training using a 30-30 run-walk.  Today we talk to John from Squoosh bands.  It's an interesting interview.  John is really tied in with my friend Kevin over at the Extra Mile Podcast.  In section one we'll talk about the mindful crux of determining what to do in the later seasons of your running life.  In section two I'm going to do an old-man rant on hustle culture.  I love this fall weather, don't you?  Of course it's only fall weather in this hemisphere. We are moving into a stressful period of our lives. These few weeks before the holidays tend to be very busy and can be overwhelming. Remember to be mindful.  Straighten up.  Relax your shoulders and jaw.  Bring your head high like the top of your head is being pulled up into the sky. Take a deep breath.  Fill your whole abdomen, all the way down to your belly.  Hold it for a count of two and feel the peace and energy in your body. Let it out slowly. Squoosh.    So – what's the future hold?  Well, Here's my current plan.  I've signed up for the Thanksgiving 5k.  I'm also outing team in for the Mill cities relay.  I need a couple over 50 men for that team if any of you locals are interested, it's the first week of December. I'm running, not walk-running, running 2-3 times a week now.  Just easy.  I'm going to go back to the heart chest strap to get a better handle on my HR so I can stay in zone 2 for all this preliminary work.  I'm working with a friend of mine, Gina, on rebuilding my core strength and balance.  I may drop my gym membership, because this is all going to be body-weight and yoga.  The gym served its purpose this summer.  Letting me feel my oats. Get some muscle bulk and testosterone.  By the way ‘feel your oats' is an American saying.  It refers to how frisky horses get after you feed them.  I am grateful for that interlude.  Now it's time to transition to something else.  It's also getting past bike weather up here.  We'll still keep riding.  We go out until the snow and ice stops us.  I don't want to put boundaries on what I can do, or still do.  I think your body is strong and amazing and will do far more than you think.  At the same time I want to be smart and not abusive in this new season.  Ollie is doing fine.  I took him to the vet this week for his checkup and shots.  He got a clean bill of health.  I'm practicing running on leash with him.  It's a struggle some times but I think eventually we'll come to some sort of agreement, he and I.  I signed him up for the second course of dog-stuff training.  Frankly I think it's worth it just to get him out of the house.  … As we head into this stressful time of year remember to stay centered.  Remember to be in the now.  Let's practice, shall we.  Straighten up again.  Smile.  Take in that deep breath, hold it for a second and let it out slowly. You can do anything, You can be anything, You have the power.  You are a good person, You add value to this world, You are loved. You do what is right for you, your family, and your friends with no regrets. … Your life is magical, You are unimaginably powerful Your life is beautiful, fair, rich, abundant, and filled with meaning … Your body is strong.  You have all the strength You need to do the things that You want to do. You are worthy. You are unique. You are loved. And I'll see you out there. My Apocalypse show ->     MarathonBQ – How to Qualify for the Boston Marathon in 14 Weeks - Rachel -> Coach Jeff ->

In the series, "When Was The Last Time You Talked To ..."  We took on a difficult conversation.  In this show we discuss the idea of how we talk to people that are dealing with tragedy.  Whether it is death, sickness, or loss, it is sometimes very difficult to know how to approach people in these situations.  However, as a Strong Dad and a Christ follower, we are called to be involved and to help those in need. In this episode Hutch and Kyle bring in special guest, Jeff Duerler.  Jeff is a pastor at Life Spring Community Church.  He has been pastoring a church for nearly 20 years.  In this job it is common to be helping people through difficult times.  But, what happens when the difficult times fall onto your own family.  Jeff shares the difficult story of losing his 16 year old daughter, Kayla, in a driving accident in October of 2018.  Needless to say this was a tragedy that rocked Jeff's world. Jeff gives us candid and first-hand conversation about how he has walked and continues to walk through these dark days.  He explains some of the things he found to be very helpful and others that were not so helpful. Jeff gives us an understanding of how to help those suffering from tragedy.  There are such things as the right things to say and do as well as the wrong things to say and do.  But mostly, we help people by letting them know we care. Letting them know that we have their back. We are there to help.  If you are going through a difficult loss yourself or know someone who is, this show is packed with incredible hope and guidance.  Please listen and share to all that need to hear this message. If you are struggling through a difficult time, please contact Rock Solid Families at; www.rocksolidfamilies.orgSupport the show (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=R4Q39E32XTBEC)

You can't always control your emotions, but you can learn to direct your reactions and build positive mental pathways for the future.

#WisdomWednesdays: Letting Go Of Relationships When Love Is No Longer Served We value our relationships, romantic, platonic, or otherwise. So we find ways to make them work no matter the differences we have with the other person. But sometimes, some relationships are just not worth fighting for anymore. Letting go of relationships  is difficult, but it may be the right thing to do. You have to know when enough is enough. You have to find the courage to leave when love and happiness are no longer served on the table. In this episode, Rosie and Tessa talk about leaving and letting go of relationships when there's no longer love in them. Part of feeling radically loved is loving yourself enough to know when it's time to move on. They discuss the importance of gaining awareness about the situation and your emotions. They also speak about the nuances of leaving a relationship and facing the discomfort in making that conversation. Tune in to discover the proper actions in letting go of relationships that are no longer serving you! Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode: Learn how to recognize when love is no longer in a relationship. Understand the dynamics of a relationship as a two-way street. A bird flew into Rosie's slider door when she was about to start a breathing practice while recording. Luckily, the bird is safe for now. The metaphor here is, sometimes, life throws us a curveball when we want to gather ourselves. The Anxiety of Failure Tessa has been busy the whole week. But taking a break makes her feel anxious and fearful of failure. The anxiety of failure has been disrupting her sleep. Tessa is learning about the idea of “less is more.” The big lesson for her is learning to say “no” and trusting her intuition. Tracking Your Sleep Rosie owns an Ōura Ring. It's an accurate sleep readiness and activity monitor. How well the Ōura Ring aids you with getting quality sleep will depend on the type of person you are. Rosie hoped to get one for her partner Tory but seeing the data stresses him out. If acquiring the data about your sleep distresses you, it may be better not to get one. Contracting COVID-19 messed up Rosie's sleep. Not getting a good night's sleep impacts her focus and overall function. For the past year, Rosie has been working hard to restore herself and balance her hormones. The Ōura Ring has helped Rosie be militant about her sleep. A Placebo Effect Tessa wonders about the margin of error in technologies like sleep trackers. But she says that what matters is it's working for Rosie. A placebo effect doesn't challenge the efficacy of something working or not working. Meditation can also count as an ancient technology for decreasing anxiety. When Love is No Longer Served in a Relationship Rosie is reading the book Feeding the Soul by Tabitha Brown. The book includes a Nina Simone quote: “You've got to learn to leave the table when love's no longer being served.” The quote is an ethos for Radically Loved. Part of being radically loved is loving yourself enough to know when love is no longer there. Loving Yourself We're quick to blame ourselves for things that might or do go wrong. Learning when to leave the table when there's no longer any love comes back to our relationship with ourselves. Sheri Salata's book The Beautiful No speaks about dealing with the narrator in your brain. Tell the narrator in your brain, "No, thank you—not helpful," instead of indulging a negative thought pattern. A Relationship is a Two-Way Street It's hard to discern when love is no longer present in a relationship that's going well. It becomes a “you” problem when nothing changes with how you feel after years. Have a conversation with the other person and figure out why you feel love is no longer present. A relationship is a two-way street; if you're not contributing to it, you're contaminating it. Being in a relationship is a practice. It's a matter of recognition and what you do with that awareness. On Codependency Tessa's first long-term monogamous relationship was codependent. She felt there was potential if only the other person would do X, Y, and Z. It took Tessa six years to learn the lesson in that relationship. A lesson gets repeated until you learn it. At times, she still feels parts of that way of thinking. Letting Go of Relationships That No Longer Serve You Leaving a relationship that's not serving you anymore also applies to friendships, work, and family. There are nuances in letting go of relationships. Sometimes, it's necessary to leave the person; sometimes, you only need to set boundaries. It's a matter of mutual respect, acknowledgment, and expression of feelings. There's no one answer. But you'll need to know your values and what you need to do, and remain open-minded to understanding yourself and the other person. Feeling Discomfort in Confrontations You don't have to lack compassion or empathy; you only need to pay attention mindfully. Most of us want to hit the fast-forward button any time we feel discomfort. But sitting through the feeling becomes easier if you do it over time. It takes a lot of courage for people to speak their truth. Another nuance that comes into play in the discomfort of having the conversation is powerful emotions. Not everyone has strong role models in showing up with their emotions healthily when faced with this conversation. Controlling Your Reaction You can't control the other party's reaction; what you can control is your own. Rosie recommends going straight to the source when you can't control your reactivity. You have to look at how you're living your life as a whole. Practice, sleep, stress, women's hormones, and other things can compound into reactivity. How you express yourself would also depend on the type of dynamic you have with the other person. You don't necessarily have to let out negative feelings directly to another person. You can direct it to the air, on paper, a voice note, etc. Allowing the Cycle of Emotion to Move Through Allow the cycle of emotion to have its full revolution. Pause before you let a negative part of yourself take over. Still, your reaction would depend on where you're at as a whole in your life. It's all valid and part of the human experience. An emotional explosion is a build. Your mind will corroborate what the body feels. Rosie's bio-hack for emotional explosions: relax your shoulders and take big deep breaths. It will dissipate your emotional charge by at least 30%. Ways To Manage Emotions on Your Own Write a letter, and let the rage out on paper. Go on a drive, and scream at the top of your lungs Toss an old chair or a journal in a backyard bonfire. The liver is associated with the emotion of anger. What you eat or drink can also affect how you're feeling as well. You can also do Yoga Nidra, listen to binaural beats, or do rapid eye therapy. These practices balance the brain and bring you into the present moment. The Body as a Miracle Conduit The body is a miracle conduit for moving forward. Reverse engineering is critical in achieving the results you want during teacher training. We will continue to repeat the same cycles unless we find what works for us. Therefore, we practice building a reservoir of awareness, wisdom, and knowledge. Coming from a place of acknowledgment and awareness will allow us to hold each other up as equals.   5 Powerful Quotes [07:14] “The metaphor is that just when we want to gather ourselves, sometimes, life just throws a curveball or sometimes a bird… We can learn so much from nature.” [19:04] “Part of being radically loved is loving yourself enough to know when love is no longer being served and having the courage or the empowerment to get up from that table and move on.” [26:50] “We don't just throw people away. I think that's where the nuance comes in. Just because I'm leaving the table, doesn't mean I'm leaving the room.” [33:27] "Sometimes those feelings need to come out. You need to be able to be angry." [42:02] “We're in the school of being a human. Unless we can find what works for us and different ways to establish new neurological pathways, new patterns, new habits, we're going to continue to repeat the same cycles over and over.” This episode is sponsored by: Audible Visit Audible.com/loved or TEXT LOVED to 500-500 to get your 30 day free trial.   Uncommon Goods Visit uncommongoods.com/loved for 15% off your next order.   My Fitness Pal Visit loved.myfitnesspal.com and use code LOVED for a free one month premium membership.     Enjoy the Podcast? I think that's where the nuance comes in. Just because I'm leaving the table, doesn't mean I'm leaving the room.” [33:27] "Sometimes those feelings need to come out. You need to be able to be angry." [42:02] “We're in the school of being a human. Unless we can find what works for us and different ways to establish new neurological pathways, new patterns, new habits, we're going to continue to repeat the same cycles over and over.” This episode brought to you by: www.oliveandjune.com/loved Promo code LOVED   This episode brought to you by: Get 20% your at home lab test http://www.Everlywell.com/loved   This episode brought to you by: https://wondery.com/plus/   This episode brought to you by: ACORN Try for 30 days free acorn.tv USE CODE:  loved (lower case)               Enjoy the Podcast? Chad Willardson has a lot on his repertoire. He's the founder and president of a wealth management firm called Pacific Capital, the elected treasurer for his city, and the author of an Amazon best-selling book titled Stress Free Money: Overcome the 7 Obstacles to Financial Freedom. Luckily for listeners, he's taking us through a few of those obstacles in order to help lead people to wealth and financial success! Chad says that without knowing your obstacles, you can never get to your destination. That's why he's here to address a few of the most common obstacles that you might not even realize are standing in your own way, from a lack of clear goals to what he calls “financial fast food.”In this episode, you'll not only hear examples of these obstacles but also learn how you can start to overcome them in order to make your way to the wealth you've always dreamed of. Overall, it's all about making clear goals, knowing what's standing in your way, and coming up with a roadmap to get through it. In this episode:[1:25] Chad takes us through his background and gives us an idea of what he does and who he is - not only an author and founder of a wealth management firm but an elected official as well.[4:25] We dive into Chad's one big tip: Facing the obstacles between you and your wealth. He says the most common obstacle is a lack of clear goals. [6:37] Chad explains how he helps clients get clear on their goals.[8:43] Another major obstacle is “financial fast food” - this is buying into what the latest news tells you to do with your money rather than thinking of your own position, plans, and needs[9:50] Letting your feelings get in the way is another huge obstacle, Chad says. Support the show (https://jeffmendelson.com/onebigtip)

OVERVIEW: Jason A. Duprat, Entrepreneur, Healthcare Practitioner, and Host of the Healthcare Entrepreneur Academy podcast talks about the importance of staying organized and shares what he's learned after years of running a business. He also discusses a great software tool that will help you manage your projects, team, and communications more efficiently.    EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: When you run your own business, it's important to get your to-dos done and remain organized.  Systemizing is a must. This can be a struggle and for Jason, it took a few years to learn how to streamline tasks.  Projects aren't stressful; the details are. Become a production expert and alleviate stress. One great software tool to help you do this is Asana.   For example, when Jason has a new lesson for a course, he creates the main task within Asana and then adds subtasks. He can include links in the task description and within each task, assign followers so team members remain in the loop. Communicating via email can be confusing and it can quickly create disorganization when several people are involved in a single project. This is particularly true if you're working with dozens of contractors, freelancers, and staff.  Asana alleviates this chaos by centralizing the work and communications associated with team projects.    Asana can be used to organize personal tasks as well, which is something Jason does. When you log in to the dashboard, you can easily see your to-do list for the day.   3 KEY POINTS: Making mental to-do lists, using sticky notes, or keeping track of tasks through a calendar is fine but having a systematized way to handle everything that needs to get done for your business is an absolute must.  Asana is one of the best software tools Jason uses across multiple projects. One of the benefits is you can create teams and manage communications for specific projects within the software program. Letting a software program organize your tasks or to-do lists leaves your mind free to think and work more creatively.   TWEETABLE QUOTES: “You need to be organized in order to lead an effective and organized team.” - Jason Duprat   “As the business owner, you are setting the direction for where you're going.” - Jason Duprat RESOURCES: Asana: https://asana.com/   Trillo: https://www.trillo.io/   ClickUp™: https://clickup.com/   Do you enjoy our podcast? Letting go or detaching from an outcome many times is exactly why we block our manifestations. And what most women don't know is that detachment actually takes a level of worthiness. I know it sounds strange, but the truth is that when we are feeling unworthy we cannot trust life, others, or ourselves so it becomes really difficult to let go. It's that glorious time of the year when all four major sports leagues are playing. With the NFL just 30% of the way into its' season, both the NBA and NHL just getting started, and Major League Baseball about to crown a champion, it seems an appropriate time to point out that your team sucks. Not your sports team, your other team, if you have one, and it's getting harder and harder to find people that don't.As I was discussing last week, I love sports but hate most sports fans. The idea that people literally equate their identity to the success and failure of a group of humans they've never met and wouldn't know you from Adam is so infantile and brazenly pathetic it should be studied much deeper at institutions across the country. Sports should merely be seen as a form of entertainment similar to movies and shows. Sure, if they suck, we walk away annoyed or disappointed, but sane people let it go quickly. Letting the outcome of a game determine your mood for the next many days, if not weeks, is clearly demented, not to mention the behavior of a child. There is supposed to come a time in your human development when you learn that pouting is neither an option nor a solution. This brings us to your other team and the even bigger problem. That team's season never ends, which is why people never have a chance to just step away from blindly supporting whatever their team is up to. This team, also, is a group of humans that you've never met and wouldn't know you. Worse, they don't even care about you. At least most professional athletes appreciate the fans en masse. They understand that you're rooting for them, buying merchandise with their names on it, and in many cases, feeding them energy with loud, in-person support. Your other team literally doesn't care that you even exist other than to use you. Your wants, needs, and desires are of absolutely no concern to them at all whatsoever. This team even goes so far as to make you promises that they have no intention of keeping. They lie to you constantly, hide everything they can from you, and steal from you. Yes, they steal from you, and yet, you continue to not only support them, but you also loudly scream on their behalf, sometimes violently, and depending on just how invested you are, you even give them your money (the money they haven't already stolen from you).I'm talking, of course, about your political team. It sucks. Whether it's team R or team D, your team is all of the things I just described. Oh, and a quick aside; those of you who try to be cute and separate yourself from political parties by saying instead that you're either conservative or progressive, you too, are all of the things described and one other big one which says more about you than it does about them; you're all enormous hypocrites. This is a problem because too many people (more today than ever before in my lifetime) scream that their team is the solution, and the opposing team is the problem. And yet, both of these political movements abandon what are supposed to be their core principles at the drop of a hat as long as the outcome suits them. That is what we call being unethical, and yet people look the other way when their team does it, which they do constantly, and that, in turn, makes them unethical as well. And they don't seem to care, as long as their side wins. Now we've gone from unethical to unscrupulous. Sociopathic and psychotic are the only two steps left on the ladder down to complete and total cretin. For example, last week a 16-year-old girl knowingly violated the rules of her high school, repeatedly and intentionally. This form of blatant flouting of the rules, and questioning of authority is the type of behavior consistently condemned by team R. After all, they're the law-and-order party. And yet, this girl became the conservative hero of the week. You see, just like with Kyle Rittenhouse, law and order only apply now to team R, when it's being used to uphold something that they agree with. So, Grace Smith was hailed as brave and strong for intentionally getting suspended for not wearing a mask to school. Since team R is against mask mandates, the ends justify the means, which is the thought process of a true intellectual coward. As an aside, it was also misreported endlessly that she was arrested for not wearing a mask. She was arrested, but for trespassing, after she was told to leave school grounds after being suspended and refusing to do so. But the truth isn't important when we're trying to win. https://www.foxnews.com/us/wyoming-girl-suspended-arrested-trespassing-mask-mandatehttps://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2021/07/05/kyle-rittenhouse-american-vigilante Speaking of such policies, team D has, for decades, preached the slogan “my body, my choice.” It applies most notably to their support of legalized abortion, but also to the issue of consent, gender identification, and something called “body integrity.” But as far as team D is concerned, it is no longer your body, your choice when it comes to wearing masks or injecting medicine into you. Leaping back to team R for a moment, the team that preaches law and order, much more extreme examples of their hypocrisy than the hero anti-mask girl would be the insurrectionists of January 6th and all of the various right-wing nationalists constantly threatening or engaging in activities that have to be stopped by who else but law enforcement? It's the same thing with the 2nd amendment and/or we're-going-to-civil war Nazis who without thinking, talk about getting in gun battles with cops that come to their doors…not very law and order friendly.Progressives/liberals/Democrats continue, to this day, to preach that Covid isn't gone, wear your mask, kids in schools all wear masks, get tested, isolate, be safe…and yet 2 million illegal migrants have streamed into this country since President grandpa took office, and less than 10% of them were even tested for Covid, let alone only 33% of them accepting vaccination. https://www.foxnews.com/category/us/immigrationBack to my conservative friends on team R, the party of small/less government and letting local people, like your elected school board, make local decisions…unless, of course, you don't like the decisions they're making and then you pass laws and executive orders in your state banning local leaders from instituting things like mask mandates. They're also the party of small businesses and the freedom of business owners to make their own decisions. They championed the Colorado baker who didn't want to make a cake for a gay couple because it's his right, not just religiously, but as the owner of the business! But if you own a business in many conservative states and want to require your employees or customers to be vaccinated, suddenly that's not your right any longer.Team D is the party of woke-ism. They stand up for any and every minority there is unless they find out someone in that minority is on team R, and then that particular minority person is no longer a protected class, they're a traitor for having their own individual thoughts. The examples are endless, which is why it's all so disconcerting to say the least. We have lost more than just our moral compass, we've lost more than just our souls, we've lost ourselves, entirely. Rather than using fundamental, core principles to guide and help us decide, we merely identify the outcome we want and then say that any means necessary will do. Worse, in many cases, many people don't even bother to think about the outcome, they just ask “what does my team want, I'm in favor of that!”All of this amidst the backdrop of being a sports fan. When some rabid fan is all jazzed the day after his team wins, to the point where he won't shut up about it (and I'm talking about “that guy,” not people who just have a spring in their step for a day, but the guy who is acting like he just won the lottery, his wife gave birth, and he's in remission from cancer all in the same day), my favorite approach is to ask the moron how, exactly, his life has improved as a result of the outcome of this particular game? Does he have more money? Has his health vastly improved? Are all his problems gone? Do his wife and kids hate him any less?Oh sure, you can argue that happiness and a celebratory mood are good for the soul, and I'll grant you that, but I won't grant you that this is equitable happiness. Over-the-top joy and adulation over an accomplishment you had quite literally absolutely nothing to do with is beyond vapid; it shows how empty your life really is. With your political teams, it is almost simultaneously contradictory, which makes it more maddening to watch you all engage in this sort of fandom. On one hand, allowing politicians to have anything to do with your ability to live a happy and/or successful life is the approach of losers. When team R members scream and yell about all of the taxes and restrictions put on their ability to start and run businesses, that's just pathetic if it actually paralyzes you. You don't have to like it but adapt and overcome. I have no respect for people who leave states they literally love in every other way because of politics. Stay and fight, you coward. Fight to find a way to excel despite the difficult conditions placed before you. Conversely, it is absolutely true that if one of these teams wins too many times in a row, in too many of their most extreme ways, it will have an effect on almost all of us, and in almost universally negative ways. The Climate Change extremists are teetering on major victories that will dismantle America's ability to be the globe's superpower, and are already having devastating effects on our current economy. We are inches away from a goal line stand that, if it fails, could outlaw abortion in America; a decision that will not end abortions in any way, it will merely end in many more deaths of not just babies, but their mothers. Post Roe v Wade America will look like Prohibition America, but a lot more bloody. Behavior controlists have won a major victory with the vaccine mandates and have been given a new template on how to use the “greater good,” argument to get what they want. If they're allowed to continue, they will soon argue that, in order to keep hospitals from overflowing, we all have to do our part, all of the time. That means more than wearing masks, it means eating certain things and banning others to combat obesity and cancer. It means mandating exercise and banning certain kinds of speech. Neither movement is right all of the time. In fact, based on history, they're both wrong half of the time, which is the ultimate irony. Your team needs their team. America needs both teams in order to win. When the two teams are focused on their agendas, and not on destroying one another, they check each other from going too far. For now, that ship has sailed, and even if it wanted to turn around and come back, it would simply sit offshore in Long Beach for months on end, rotting like our food and furniture currently is.No, by the way, I don't know what the solution is, but I do know that we would start to move towards it if more Americans would step away from the table of madness, take off their R or D jerseys and instead, put on their “USA,” sweaters. Your teams suck, and they're making America suck…and you…you are not “saving America,” you all are ruining America and you all suck.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Proverbs 3:1-12 NLT My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart. If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying. Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation. Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don't be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine. My child, don't reject the Lord's discipline, and don't be upset when he corrects you. For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights. In this passage, and throughout the Bible, the writer refers to the reader as ‘my child'. Returning to a position where we don't have everything figured out on our own seems to be a common theme throughout scripture. Listen to this passage again from the mindset and the position of your heart of returning to the perspective of a child, with much to learn, not having everything figured out. My child, never forget the things I have taught you. Store my commands in your heart If you do this, you will live many years, and your life will be satisfying. (Proverbs 3:1-12 NLT) ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart do not depend on your own understanding' pretty much sums up what this is saying. Is there an area in your life that you have been leaning primarily on your own understanding? Can you do what this passage suggests, ‘seek him in all that you do and he will show you which path to take'? Letting go of the preconceived idea that you are required to have this all figured out on your own is foundational in living with the abandon of childlike innocence, living with a healthy sense of dependency and trust in your Father who goes before you. Let's pray: Father, help me to surrender my natural way of looking at things, that I have to have everything figured out. Help me to lean on You, help me to seek You in all that I do as I trust you to show me which path to take. As above, so below.”

What are you growing into?  What do you long to embody? What if something you experienced was the last time you'd experience it? What if the last kiss you had was the last one? And what if it wasn't but you let yourself remember that everything will change—how would you bring your whole self into the next kiss? Into grief and sadness? Into this moment? Into whatever you love? Appreciating being here. What can you find home in right now? Being rearranged, knowing the sacredness of it, even when it doesn't feel that way. Inviting the breath in, letting it show you the way with its elegant rhythm, moving in and out.  If you pick one thing to wear today that would represent how you want to live into this moment like it's the last moment, what would it be? Your favorite shirt? A piece of jewelry? An essential oil? Choose comfort and ceremony. How will you wear your love? Slowing down and growing into the journey of this life. Letting longing be birthed as a spark from within.  Getting acquainted with the fire of our soul.  The practice of living your wildly naked truth. Remembering to trust. And the trust in remembering. I share the poem Deep Violets, Wild Pines. Where can you let go of being so careful and live your you-ness now. Seek it out. What would living more wildly look like? Begin a new alchemy. “Wear your love like perfume.” Saturday, October 23rd, join me for Permission, a luscious and sacred virtual retreat. https://www.shegathersbeauty.com/booking/three-divine-doors If you'd like to receive invitations to special offerings and love notes from me, visit www.shegathersbeauty.com to sign up for my weekly newsletter. Your questions were so thoughtful and piercing, and it has been a wonderful challenge, and also a joy, to put this episode together. Your questions were also so numerous that I've had to split them into two episodes - your more practical, efficient work-y questions will come another day, but today is all about mindset and the emotional experience of this thing. What I talk about in this episode:Letting the world crashWorking out the non-negotiablesSeeking direction from inside yourselfAccepting and testing the hypothesis that you might just be worthyFor links and resources discussed in the show, see the full show notes.Kayte on InstagramSubscribe to my newsletter!

All spiritual growth is a result of THIS one thing...what is it? It is the art of LETTING GO. Release. Letting go of old paradigms, the filters through which we are currently viewing life, old beliefs, old identities, and old ways of operating. It's ALL about letting go! Michael B Beckwith says "100% of spiritual growth is about letting go" and how true is that? Not 90%...100! About This Episode Earlier this year, as a warm-up to my last live webinar before going on maternity leave, I did a series of live Q&As on Instagram where I popped in daily to answer your burning questions about dating. As a woman living in a small town in Wisconsin where everyone basically knows each other, Abigail wanted to know how she should navigate dating multiple men. This is rule #1 of the “10 Rules of Being Claimed,” which is “You Create Your Dating Funnel, Men Compete.” What should she do, for example, to avoid things getting awkward if they all end up at the same event together and bump into each other? Then there was Lara who has been following my advice about letting men lead in dating when it comes to making plans but said she felt “lazy” not reaching out in between dates and “leaving all the work to him.” How much initiation is enough to let him know you're interested and when is it okay to take charge as a woman? Join us as we discuss: Why we should never date just one man at a time (competition is completely natural) How to shift our perspective when it comes to dating (it's like “shopping for shoes,” ladies) Being careful with intimacy during dating (why sex = attachment for women) The dating game & how to play it so that it's actually fun (no manipulative tips and tricks required) Paying attention to what feels good in your body more than any dating “rules” (even mine) Ideas for how to connect & engage with men in a playful, feminine way (without chasing or leading them)   LINKS Your Dating Frustrations: Symptoms vs. Root Causes & How to Fix Them 3 Things to Do to Let Go of The Drama and The Story During Dating Playing the Dating Game With Intention & Ease P.S. Sign up for the free, exclusive training from me on How to Start Attracting Committed Masculine Men By Releasing Control & Letting Him Lead  to find out: The #1 reason successful women are still single and can't attract a committed masculine man (hint: it's not what you think) How to break through the patterns of attracting unavailable or feminine men and find your blind spot so you start attracting the men you want How to master the art of feminine/masculine polarity so you start feeling taken care of, claimed and finally be able to let go of control How to get out of the “get the guy” mindset and instead move into your full feminine self and have the guy get you Uncover The Lie of Female Success that's keeping you stuck, exhausted and unfulfilled (in masculine energy all the time) so you can start living in freedom & joy And much more… Sign up at girlskill.com/webinar

Episode 111: Journaling For Mindfulness With Guest Josephine Atluri   In this episode, Josephine Atluri discusses using journaling to help with mindfulness and parenting. She discussed ways to engage in mindfulness along with your child, as well as ways to communicate in a mindful way with your child. She provides examples for when mindfulness worked in parenting for her. Discussed the importance of examining expectations as a parent and to set intentions in your interactions with your children. Otherwise, you might be placing too much your child and placing extra demands on them. Use intentions to let things flow, rather than fighting obstacles to make things happen. It allows you to let unhelpful thoughts go. You can engage in emotional awareness by spending time being mindful just being aware of what you are doing and feeling. You can always set an alarm to check in with your body and your emotions. Then, give yourself whatever you need in the moment to care for yourself. Affirmations are really helpful to improve mood and self-esteem. It is a way of giving yourself extra love and caring. Document triggers throughout the week. This recognition of the patterns helps you to put strategies in place to avoid the situation or better cope with them in order to minimize anger or stress. You can better use stress management techniques and using what works for you. With practice, you can recognize other triggers more easily. Letting go and letting go of control is useful to allow the child to be who they are and to be able to enjoy therm. They will be heard and supported and that they were given what they needed in the moment. Take in the joy of others. Try to allow yourself to experience joy each day, without participating in it. Watch the happiness of your children. Help others. Enjoy a self-care moment. William Shatner rode Blue Origin's great penis of the galaxy a few feet up into the final frontier, becoming America's favorite space geezer. Terry McAuliffe, a popular Democratic candidate in a blue state, might win, might not, depending on the enthusiasms of the people voting.  Unfortunately, half of those voters are in a frothing rage-panic, every waking moment, which sure beats being informed. Oh no! Does this mean Democrats will lose everything from now on? Well, settle back and just sit tight, while Greg Dworkin starts reviewing the attitude of doing right —  You've got to accentuate the universal, triangulate the ideological, eschew the label “liberal”, because winners are always “mister in-between”… maybe. Republicans help all they can by being simply horrible. Q-nuts and violent lunatics are everywhere, which must eventually hurt their chances, right? The Dallas Regional Chamber distanced itself from Greg Abbott on his anti vaccine mandate mandate, so maybe that's a start… Nah. They're taking us to Hell. If Joe Biden can only bring back holiday shopping, perhaps the Democratic party will survive. Letting us see Steve Bannon get tased on TV might help too. Democrats do still have a few dummies, although a couple fewer now with the firing of Fulton County election workers guilty of shredding voter registration forms. Republican election workers can get fired for less… a lot less. A pro-Trump PAC made millions illegally, spent a few thousand in fines years later. They probably made more in interest. Jon Gruden was fired for a victimless crime, with the exception of LGBTQI+ communities, Blacks, women and a few others. At least Gruden was entertaining to a few bigots. Another woke-victim being canceled for no reason: Brett Favre.  We are almost at 80% vaccinated now. Any way you look at it, that is good news. A record number of people have taken their job and shoved it, because there are better jobs out there than the one they have.

Meditation: Letting Thought Clouds Come and Go - This meditation guides us through a body scan and into a relaxed, open presence. When we realize we are lost in a thought cloud, our practice is to relax open, listening to and feeling the life of the present moment. We are training to become increasingly aware of the gap between thoughts, the space where the light of awareness shines through.
