To the Ends of the Earth - A Study Through Acts || We long for community and fellowship. It's part of the image of God in us. Those that aren't part of the Body of Christ, search for it in other areas of life, only to be disappointed in the end. We to are drawn to communities of this world instead of communities around the Gospel. Instead of being drawn to those communities to fulfill our needs, How do we live in a way that brings us stronger fellowship with others, God-centered relationships, Gospel-centered community, that grows us individually but also grows the Body of Christ? Looking at Acts 2:42-47 we see an example of how the early believers lived together, caring for each other, all out of their devotion to God and his Gospel.

Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 15, 2021 26:38

On today's Locked On Giants podcast, host Ben Kaspick tries to make sense of the San Francisco Giants' magical season ending abruptly on Thursday night at the hands of their bitter rivals. Wilmer Flores was ruled to have swung at a two-strike Max Scherzer offering, even though he didn't, and just like that, the game and the season was over. Ultimately, the Giants didn't score enough runs to win. They scored just 10 runs in the five-game series, an average of just two runs per game. The Dodgers' pitching and defense shut the Giants down for most of the series, and in the end it was too much to overcome. Logan Webb stepped up again and was brilliant, but the Giants could not give him the support he needed. Now our attention turns to a long offseason, one in which the Giants will be primed to spend big and have a ton of holes to fill. It was a magical and incredible 2021 season for the Giants. They were supposed to win 75 games, per projection systems, but instead they won 107, they won the NL West, and they took the all-time talented Dodgers to the final pitch of NLDS Game 5. There's nothing to be ashamed of with this group. They exceeded everyone's expectations, and from top to bottom they deserve immense credit. They took a quantum leap forward in 2021, and the bar has been raised for 2022 and beyond. Many people love the novice linear progression because of it's simplicity and the fast results it achieves for those who actually run it as written and do the things necessary for growth outside the gym (i.e. eating and sleeping). But all things must come to an end, including the novice phase of training. The world of intermediate and advanced training is a confusing and complex one, where many lifters spin their wheels without making much progress.   To understand how to navigate this new phase of training, you'll need to know some basic principles of programming. Robert and Trent break down what you need to know as a post-novice lifter.

How many times have your weekends sabotaged your weight loss goals? This week I share a few things that can help you create successful weekends around your food. 1- self awareness- notice what is happening and discover the patterns you follow over the weekend2- all or nothing thinking - watch the ideas and thoughts of being “perfect” with our food during the week, and being so restrictive that on the weekend we just want freedom. So we go “off the plan” on the weekend3- Get a system in place - create a daily food plan for everyday of the week including the weekend days 4-weekends matter- instead of listening to the thoughts that we deserve it and the weekends don't matter. We need to redirect our thoughts.  We need to remind ourselves of the thought that weekends matter.Just changing small things will be the trick to having the lasting weight loss we are hoping for. We can stay on the plan, and not have to start and stop every few days.Check out kamibanks. com or follow me @kamibankscoaching on instgram

At the dawn of the digital era in the final decades of the twentieth century, film and media studies scholars grappled with the prospective end of what was deemed cinema: analog celluloid production, darkened public movie theaters, festival culture. The notion of the “end of cinema” had already been broached repeatedly over the course of the twentieth century—from the introduction of sound and color to the advent of television and video—and in Ends of Cinema (U Minnesota Press, 2020), contributors reinvigorate this debate to contemplate the ends, as well as directions and new beginnings, of cinema in the twenty-first century. In this volume, scholars at the forefront of film and media studies interrogate multiple potential “ends” of cinema: its goals and spaces, its relationship to postcinema, its racial dynamics and environmental implications, and its theoretical and historical conclusions. Moving beyond the predictable question of digital versus analog, the scholars gathered here rely on critical theory and historical research to consider cinema alongside its media companions: television, the gallery space, digital media, and theatrical environments. Ends of Cinema underscores the shared project of film and media studies to open up what seems closed off, and to continually reinvent approaches that seem unresponsive. Richard Grusin is director of the Center for 21st Century Studies and distinguished professor of English at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. He is editor of The Nonhuman Turn, Anthropocene Feminism, and After Extinction, all published by the University of Minnesota Press. Jocelyn Szczepaniak-Gillece is associate professor of English and film studies at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and author of The Optical Vacuum: Spectatorship and Modernized American Theater Architecture. When sportswriter Mitch Albom started meeting with his former professor Morrie Schwartz toward the end of Morrie's life, Mitch had no idea the impact those meetings would have — not only on him, but around the world. Mitch compiled those lessons into a book, and, nearly twenty-five years and 17 million copies of Tuesdays with Morrie later, Mitch Albom continues to apply the lessons learned from Morrie to live a richer and more purposeful life. Throughout this conversation, Hoda and Mitch connect on love, loss and legacy. As Mitch so beautifully details in this emotional conversation, “what we choose to fill our arms with, and what we choose to carry is actually what ends up defining us.”
