Seltron 400 - Forma Swietna [snippet]

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 11, 2019 1:30

Jaka Forma? completes the Seltron 400 trilogy on Warsaw's MOST. The quirky sounds of their previous two releases – Zabawa Trwa and Trans i Bas – have garnered support from music lovers and heavyweight selectors alike (with Helena Hauff, Veronica Vasicka and Marco Passarani among them). The duo continue to weave their sonic story upping the tempo on the breakbeat-driven roller Kiepska Forma. The track comes with a more contained techno mix as well, entitled Forma Świetna. The b-side carries Jakże Srogo – a firm crowd favorite from the Seltron live show, and a nod of sorts to the sound and times of electroclash, even though we won't argue that the tune is anything but pure Seltron 400. The second part of the Seltron 400 trilogy on MOST, Trans i Bas, sees the group re-embark on their singular journey in search of the essence of the rave. Since the first EP in the series – Zabawa Trwa – came out last year, they have augmented their back-to-back dj sets with a full-on live show, which again fed back into their recording process. The record’s title cut, Trans i Bas (also available in an earth-shaking drum version) is as uplifting as it is spontaneous, complete with trance-infused pads and heavy, tripping bass. Jest Nadzieja brings a little swing and a mental breakdown, while Oo is all crunched riffs and one-finger-string-solo glory. Nuff said.

LISTEN TO FULL TRACK: https://bit.ly/2Hz2zoa Somewhere in the vein of the heavily impactful Polish post punk and cold wave groups of 80s, the band Niemoc bring forths the two-tracker Mikrofale (eng. microwaves). The young trio hails from Zielona Góra, on the country's western border, and is already much-loved for their own blend of shoegaze and dancefloor-oriented disco-not-disco. And while their nod to the past is noticeable, their ears are very much attuned to the present, eyes firmly set on the future. Mikrofale had so far been a digital-only release on Brennnessel, will finally be available on vinyl – as a special collabo release with MOST Records, and augmented with a pair of special MOST Versions by the label associates Eltron and Hatti Vatti. The former's 'Dysko-Miks' of Trynidad, Tobago is a straight-to-the-floor affair with a hefty drum break and trippy arpeggios. On Wyspy Chłodne the label enlisted both artists for a long-due studio collaboration, their joint effort resulting in an exceptional dubby hybrid.
