Hebrews 11:29-12:2 Hebrews 11 finishes up with with its faith Hall of Fame and leads into chapter 12 where the readers are challenged to keep their eyes on the prize. Since they are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses people who persevered because of their faith in God and Jesus Christ, they are challenged to be encouraged by their examples of faith. Pastor Brian encourages us to extend our hands to our brothers and sisters going through hardship to encourage eachother in our faith journeys, to help eachother keep our eyes on Jesus the author and finisher or our faith.
Hosea 11:1-11 shows God's mercy for his people. Despite time and again his people turn to other gods, God withholds his judgement. He shows mercy to his people. Pastor Brian preaches that God's mercy is still there for us today. That his mercy for us is new every morning. That we need God's mercy daily. God's mercy is there no matter what we've done or how dark our past looks.
In Sunday's Sermon text, Hosea 1:1-10 we see God tell Hosea to take an unfaithful woman to be his wife to illustrate how Israel has been unfaithful to Him. How have we been unfaithful? Hosea actually tells more about God's unfailing love for his people. Despite Israel's and our unfaithfulness God is always there with arms wide open ready to take us back.
In Luke 10:38-42 we see Martha busy with preparing a meal and being hospitable that she neglects what her sister Mary has found. Time for the Kingdom. Pastor Brian encourages us to seek Christ before the distractions of our day overwhelm us. To allow our day to be shaped by God.
In Colossians 1:1-14 Paul talks about how he is praying for the people there. This is intercessory prayer. In this sermon Pastor Brian challenges to intercede for others in our lives.
In this sermon Pastor Brian talks about the call of Elisha, illustrating how Elisha chose to follow God's will at every opportunity. When he was first called by Elijah, Elisha completely destroyed the life he was called from to follow Elijah. Pastor Brian challenges us to choose to follow the will of the Father. Make it so it is impossible to return to the life that God has delivered you from. Scripture text 2 Kings 2:1-14.
The command don't be afraid appears 365 times in the Bible. That is a daily reminder that we can't and shoudn't live in fear. In 1 Kings 19:1-10 we see Elijah hiding in a cave and God asks him "What are you doing here?" Elijah was overcome with fear and fled to the mountain of God. In the quiet he heard God's voice. When fear grips you where do you go to seek God?

This weeks sermon looks at the apostle John's encounter with the risen Christ. What is an encounter with our risen Lord? It is that moment we believe that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, and that he rose again according to the scriptures. John did not need to physically see the resurrected Christ in order to believe.
In John 21:15-19 we see Peter's encounter with our risen Lord. We see despite Peter's denial of Christ we see Christ still calls Peter to follow him. Pastor Brian shares how despite our sin and imperfections Christ message is the same to us "Follow Me".
