How should we respond when tragic events occur in our nation? We lament and cry out to God - to the God who hates racism and abuse even more than we do and who will one day bring perfect justice. (Note: the service starts about 6 minutes into the video)
How do we live in these uncertain days? How do we emerge in the midst of still so much uncertainty? By rejoicing, being in prayer and remaining grateful.
We must recognize that our speech reveals who we really are. We all have a tongue that is able to do untold good or harm. The heart moves the tongue, therefore God must work in our hearts to use our tongue for his glory.
Genuine faith IN Jesus is displayed by works FOR Jesus.
Authentic Christian faith is made clear by the life you live. Once you place you faith in Jesus, you can not stay the same. Genuine faith leads to good works.
Faith in Christ and favoritism amongst Christians is incompatible. It violates the law of love. We must show love to all and not play favorites.
A real Christian can be recognized by what they DO. If following Jesus in our hearts doesn't lead to change in our lives, we are deceived.
Easter doesn't just matter - it is ALL that matters!
Anxiety, rightly diagnosed, is a form of pride - not trusting our good God and thinking we know best. But the God of the universe cares deeply for us and wants to carry our burdens and cares. The best remedy for anxiety is to throw your cares on Him.
Christians go through all kinds of things, but we can rest assured that God is always working for those who love Him and for our good - even if "good" isn't always what you expect or think is best!
Even in the throes of natural upheaval, national upheaval, weakness and our own sin, the almighty God is with us and for us!
