Pastor Rob McCoy shares a deeply personal message from John 14, offering comfort for troubled hearts in a world full of agitation. Reflecting on recent losses and his own feelings of inadequacy as a pastor, he connects the disciples' turmoil after Jesus' predictions of betrayal and death to our own struggles with grief, injustice, and societal chaos. Pastor Rob emphasizes Jesus' command to trust in Him as we trust in God, promising a heavenly home where He prepares a place for us. Through stories like missionary Henry Morrison's humbling realization and biblical examples of Paul, Peter, and Abraham, he calls believers to adopt a heavenly perspective, letting go of earthly troubles to find peace that surpasses understanding.Verse References: John 14 verses 1–3, Philippians 3 verses 17–21, 1 Peter 1 verses 3–5, Hebrews 11 verses 8–10, Hebrews 11 verses 13–16Make sure you subscribe to this channel and follow us on all our platforms to always stay up to date with our latest content! And you can always head over to our website for any general information!https://godspeak.comPrayer/NeedsIf you have any needs, or have a willingness to be used to meet various need in the body, please email info@godspeak.com. “Those who love me will keep my word, and my Father will love them.” Jesus gives us a command: keep my word. It can easily be read as an if / then statement: if you keep my word, then the Father will love you. But Lars Olson flips this text: when you have God's Word, you have God's love. How do we know God's love? Through his word. Through his Son. Sin gets named. Sin gets forgiven. And Jesus won't stop even though you do your best to get rid of him. You betray him. Deny him. Kill him. But he comes back from the dead and gives you an ever present Spirit to keep his word in your ear, forever forgiving your sins. CARE OF SOULS - ADDICTIONIn Care of Souls, a special mini-series podcast from Luther House of Study, Lutheran pastors and theologians come together to explore the deeply personal and pastoral task of preaching to and caring for those struggling with life's challenging situations: addiction, death, family disharmony, and more. Rooted in the theology of the cross and the Lutheran tradition of radical grace, this series offers both theological depth and practical guidance for pastors, church workers, and lay leaders. With conversations, real-life stories, and reflections from the front lines of ministry, Care of Souls equips listeners to enter the broken places of addiction not with easy answers, but with the crucified and risen Christ. Because in the end, it's not about fixing people—it's about preaching the Gospel. Listen to Care of Souls wherever you listen to podcasts or on the Luther House website: Care of Souls - Addiction SING TO THE LORD Martin Luther said, "Next to the word of God, the art of music is the greatest treasure in the world." To understand the importance of hymnody in the Lutheran church, Lars Olson and Mason Van Essen sit down with Zachary Brockhoff to discuss the lectionary's hymns, their meaning and history, and how the music preaches the Gospel.
Jesus said to his disciples:"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?And if I go and prepare a place for you,I will come back again and take you to myself,so that where I am you also may be.Where I am going you know the way."Thomas said to him,"Master, we do not know where you are going;how can we know the way?"Jesus said to him, "I am the way and the truth and the life.No one comes to the Father except through me."
What if “I go to prepare a place for you” doesn't mean heaven later—but the cross now? In today's episode, we explore John 14:2 in its true context and discover a more powerful comfort: access to the Father through Jesus' death and resurrection.

Jesus said to Thomas, "I am the way and the truth and the life.No one comes to the Father except through me.If you know me, then you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him."Philip said to him,"Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us."Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you for so long a timeand you still do not know me, Philip?Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own.The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,or else, believe because of the works themselves.Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father. And whatever you ask in my name, I will do,so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it."

They did not understand where Jesus was going, but He goes to the Father and is in perfect unity with the Father. Jesus explains that His disciples must honor Him by keeping His commandments. All who love Jesus must obey Him. Jesus assures the Apostles He will send a Helper, the Holy Spirit, to teach them how to establish His church. A second time, He tells them not to be troubled because the Spirit's presence will help them live with peace so that they can accomplish His work without fear. This chapter takes place during the Passover meal Jesus engages in with His Apostles. Some of what is included is specific to those men, like the promise of the Holy Spirit to give them special knowledge. However, much of His teachings apply to all believers. Jesus has gone to heaven, and He will return to take home all who love Him and obey His commandments. In the meantime, we can live in peace because God loves us, and the Holy Spirit is active in helping us develop fearlessness in this life. The “ruler of the world” is among us and seeks to undermine our faith. But we believe that Jesus is with the Father and rules in victory over the adversary. Wonderful Father, we call upon You to help us develop peace deep within our hearts. “Do not let your heart be troubled.” We hear the words of Jesus and seek to live this joy and assurance deep within us. Will you please help us to find this strength? We know the strength is in the resurrected and ruling Christ. And we know the Holy Spirit's help is readily available in the scripture. Please help us to remember to fill our lives with prayer and Bible study. We love and obey You, and we know that You love and protect us. Thought Questions: - What causes your heart to be troubled? And what do you know about the Father, Son, and Spirit that restores your peace? - Jesus is the only way to be close to the Father. How are you pursuing a closer relationship with the Father through Jesus? - The Holy Spirit helped the Apostles in incredible ways. How does the Holy Spirit help you in your walk and work for Christ?

Today we continue our series through the gospel of John with a final study in chapter fourteen. Jesus has some very powerful and thought-provoking words to share with His disciples as He prepares for His arrest and crucifixion. Jesus knew what awaited Him. He knew the pain, humiliation and violence that were just a few hours away. Yet, His concern was for His friends - and that includes you and me.

Jesus said it Himself, He came to earth not be served, but to serve. And if it weren't for His sacrificial death - an act of service to His Father, we would be destined for hell. As we again look at John fourteen today, we will see that despite the fact that Jesus was about to be put to death, He continues to serve and consort His disciples.
Before we even take our requests to God, we need to ask the important question, “Will this bring glory to God?” If the answer is no, then we can save our breath, and refocus our prayer. That's coming up today on Bridging the Gap, with pastor Lloyd Pulley. Welcome to the broadcast. We are currently studying the gospel of John, and in chapter fourteen Jesus has some important words to share with His disciples - and with us.
Hey friends! Buckle up, because in today's episode, we hear about MAJOR promises from Jesus—and they're the kind that make your heart feel all warm and cozy inside!
Fr. Mike points out the secrecy in Judas' life, and highlights Jesus' words of conviction to the disciples before his death on the cross. He also explains how important it is to bring Jesus into our temptation, and to not hide our hearts from him like Judas did. Today's readings are John 13-15 and Proverbs 6:6-11.
