Given the crisis in Kashmir and some of the other Muslim lands, we thought it would be relevant to discuss some of the details and principles surrounding it. After some dialogue on the history and the current state of it, we move onto some points about nationalism, identity and the reasons why muslim countries like Pakistan were created. We then get into the idea of Hijrah; moving/travelling for the sake of Allah, all the reasons we encourage it and dispelling some silly myths around it. We hope you enjoy! In this episode we do an in-depth critical analysis of social media, especially in light of some ‘recent’ reoccurring events, and we discuss the ikhwani-flowerboy-rainbow culture which is brewing before moving into some Q&A towards the end. One to enjoy. Some of the topics covered include; kufr (disbelief/denial of Islam) due to social media, harms of seeking fame, fandom/groupie culture, judging by following lists, sharing personal lives, theory behind "selfies", problems for future marriages, real life friends, insincerely picking and choosing ‘sunnahs’, and what you should think of us, the #StayPrincipled gang. We hope this doesn’t get more listens/views than Ep 7 ;) We apologise about the audio quality (again), this was recorded in a few separate parts so it’s extra choppy, soon touch good internet lol InShaAllah. Employment vs “Being Your Own Boss”, Business Theory, & Entrepreneurship | #StayPrincipled Podcast Ep 7

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 11, 2019 120:00

This episode focusses almost entirely on the topic of business and entrepreneurship; a much requested topic and hopefully a helpful one (get your notepads out)! - Co-hosted with Syed, who has some solid experience in this field too, Alhamdulillah. We cover the reasons for earning, money management, the theory/ science/ art/ experience of business, how to practically set up and maintain a business and islamic history/ etiquette of business. We also discuss the idea of “being your own boss” compared to “working for someone”/ employment and why one is not necessarily better. We drop some relevant principles and touch on self-sufficiency, the harms of loans, riba, oppression, education for men and women, and even impart a few example business ideas throughout. We hope you enjoy and benefit as always (and apologise for the background static..), and we look forward to the feedback and questions. Instagram.com/StayPrincipled - Twitter.com/StayPrincipled - YouTube: StayPrincipled - CuriousCat.me/StayPrincipled (You get the idea) Below is the hadith and evidence from the ayah we mentioned at around the 1h50m point: Narrated Al-Miqdam: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Nobody has ever eaten a better meal than that which one has earned by working with one's own hands. The Prophet (ﷺ) of Allah, David used to eat from the earnings of his manual labor." And We made Sulaiman (Solomon) to understand (the case), and to each of them We gave Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains and the birds to glorify Our Praises along with Dawud (David), And it was We Who were the doers (of all these things). And We taught him the making of metal coats of mail (for battles), to protect you in your fighting. Through this episode we discuss training in Ramadan (i.e. doing ’intermittent fasting’), body types, metabolism and training splits. Then (after 26mins) we move onto mental health, and the questions we’ve received on curiouscat.me/stayprincipled. We gloss over ‘young’ marriage, whether the hosts are all married, the alleged “sunnah” of cooking and cleaning for your wife, and sincerity/balance in demanding rights. Then questions about feminism, “gay feelings”, attending mixed family events and more…which round this episode off nicely. For now.
