In this throwback episode, I'm chatting with my friend Anne Briggs from Anne of All Trades about real life homesteading, what it takes, what works, and how to keep moving forward even when life gets busy. Anne left the tech world and dove into homesteading, and over the past decade she has learned everything from blacksmithing and woodworking to raising goats and building her own furniture. As of 2025, Anne is now a new mom and learning how to reevaluate her daily life and rhythms to fit into motherhood. In this episode, you'll hear: A fresh word from Anne on how things have changed since becoming a mom. How Anne learned new trade skills by teaching herself and seeking out mentors. Why the phrase "don't compare your beginning to someone else's middle" helps her stay grounded. Why starting with goats might not be the smartest first move (and yes, she shares some hilarious stories). Simple time management tools for the homestead, including how she uses the Pomodoro technique and limits phone distractions. How small, consistent steps add up to big results over time. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done or wondered how to balance work and homesteading, this conversation will encourage you to start where you are and keep going. Join me for an honest, practical talk with Anne about what it really looks like to build a hands-on, meaningful homestead life. Most people work backward, they “work” from where they are to where they want to be. It makes sense but it's a strategy that keeps people trapped where they are in life. In today's episode, the first thing that Kathy needs to identify specifically what “Point B” is for her. You've heard the old phrase, “If you don't know where you are going in life, how will you know when you get there?” The clarity of the path is vital. Without clarity about where you want to go, you'll most likely flounder throughout life. Next, in this episode, I talk about “Working FROM Point B instead of working TO Point B.” This one simple distinction is what causes people to spin their wheels for years. When you “work from” where you are you just keep repeating where you are in life. In this episode I talk about:[2:44] Other aspects of Kathy's question which keep her trapped[4:54] The fear that exists between Point A and Point B[6:50] Speaking your existence from positives instead of negatives[8:22] Why you have to give up what you have to get what you want[16:31] The difference between thinking from possibility and resignation And finally, why it's so vital that you work “From Point B instead of to Point B.” It's a subtle but huge distinction.
On October 27, 2007, Joel Lovelien stepped outside the Broken Drum Bar in Grand Forks, North Dakota, during a night filled with costumes, celebration, and heavy drinking. Moments later, he was found in the parking lot, gravely injured. Despite a rapid emergency response, Joel did not survive. For this Halloween throwback, Dakota Spotlight revisits the first episode of Unresolved: The Murder of Joel Lovelien — a true story that began with a party bus, a crowd in costume, and a tragedy that left behind more questions than answers. Through interviews, trial evidence, and police reports, journalist James Wolner reexamines one of North Dakota's most haunting unsolved cases — and the night that changed a community forever. I'm your host, Josh Hadley, where I interview the top business leaders in ecommerce. Today I'm speaking with Charlie Mckenzie, and we have recorded a live strategy audit session for you today. Charlie, welcome to the podcast. Thank you very much for having me on, Josh. I'm excited to be here. Awesome. At this point with Charlie Charlie's brand, he's got one skew. Well, he's got multiple skews because he's got some size variations in there, but he's got one product that is generating the sales for this brand. One of the first things that we looked at, for your brand, Charlie, was keyword research. And you're doing a great job of implementing the right search terms in your product title. In fact, you're crushing, you know, the competition in terms of the exact match keywords that you've got implemented in your title, and therefore you're actually ranked on the first page for many of those keywords. However, you're not in the top five positions right on most of those keywords.Josh 00:01:05 And so we then went through and discussed. All right. So what are some strategies that we can employ to. You've already got traction. You're obviously indexed for some of these big keywords. How do you move them up into that 1 to 5. You know organic ranking position? One of the things that we talked about was PPC. And Charlie, you know, you've started dipping your toes in the PPC waters. Initially we talked actually a couple of months ago, and you were not running ads on Amazon. And, you know, I told you like, hey, you should definitely start running some ads on Amazon because it is going to impact your organic ranking. You've been dabbling a little bit in that. My recommendation to you from our session was that, you know, create some exact match, keyword campaigns for those keywords that you're trying to rank for number one. But then number two, one of the things that we've found a lot of success with in our business is product targeting ads on Amazon.Josh 00:02:07 And so rather than just throwing it up against because with your particular product, there's there's other competitors that have different design variations, right. And so rather than just saying, hey, mine's beige, I'm going to go advertise on this pink one or this blue one. You the customer that's looking for a pink, product. They have a specific thought in mind. Right. Same thing. If somebody's looking for blue, like there's a reason why they clicked on the blue listing. So when it comes to setting up your product targeting ad campaigns, one of the things I would definitely recommend is only targeting those competitors that have the exact same color that you have, and you're going to get better performance that way. And what Amazon loves to see is if you can steal sales from those competitor listings, you will shoot ahead of them, on the organic ranking side, and that will allow you to increase your ranking a little bit faster there. In addition to that, we talked about some external marketing that you could be using and that is Google Ads.Josh 00:03:11 I know you've tested this in the past, had about a 200% ACOs there, which isn't great, obviously, but we talked about an additional tactic that you could use that could increase that performance because Amazon is definitely rewarding external traffic, right? in my prior one of the prior podcast episodes, we had Tyler Gregg of Amped on the episode, and he shared some fantastic strategies of how to create Google ads and the best way to maximize, you know, the return on investment on those. One of the big takeaways from that episode is that rather than just driving traffic to your current Amazon detail page, it's going to be better to create a store landing page for yourself. But in that store landing page, you recreate almost the exact way that your detail page looks on Amazon, and there's a specific section on the store builder page that allows you to basically recreate that detail page. That's exactly what you're going to want to do. And the beauty of driving that traffic to your store landing page that is literally identical to your detail page, is that you're able to remove all of your competitors because one of the tips, or I guess, one of the statistics that Tyler shared ...

Friday the 13th Part 4 Final Chapter Paramount Pictures Lion Love is a Lie
In this throwback episode of the Pioneering Today Podcast, I'm sitting down with my dear friend Mary Shrader from Mary's Nest to talk about how we can all build a kitchen where nothing goes to waste. Mary has such a gift for making traditional cooking approachable and fun, and in this episode she shares how her parents inspired her to live a homemade lifestyle long before it was popular. Together we walk through practical ways to make the most of every ingredient, from turning veggie scraps into flavorful broth to keeping a “scrap bag” in your freezer. We also talk about the mindset behind a no waste kitchen. It's not about perfection, it's about taking small, simple steps that fit into your real life. You'll learn how to use what's in your fridge before it spoils, how to build a well stocked pantry that saves time and money, and how to create meals that make the most of what you already have on hand. If you've ever felt frustrated by throwing out food or wondered how to stretch your groceries a little further, this episode will give you the encouragement and know how to make your kitchen a place of abundance and creativity. Start Your Transformation Now How often have you set goals or wanted something badly only to find that you fail over and over in achieving it? If you can say yes to the line above, you're not alone, this is the pattern for most people and the cause is simple, people are setting goals for things that are not in their self-image. People are trying to perform at levels that are outside their self-image and subconscious identity. Many years ago I remember hearing the motivational speaker Les Brown said, “You cannot operate outside of the context of the vision you have for yourself.” Which basically means, you cannot be, do or have what you are not. In this episode I talk about:[1:24] What your self-image is and how it was created[2:21] The cycle of self-identity reinforcement[5:57] The illusion of self-image[15:53] Why you'll never live up to your full potential[27:22] How to reverse engineer your life from the inside out[31:01] And, How nothing in your life will change until you change There's an old Tibetan saying, “What you are on the inside is what you are on the outside.” If you want more in your life you must BE more in life. There is absolutely no escape from this concept. You must first be it in your mind before you can have it in your life. Listen, apply, and enjoy! Transformational Takeaway You can't achieve what's outside your self-image. Discover how your subconscious identity limits your performance and learn how to reverse-engineer your life for success. Remember, you must first be it in your mind before you can have it in your life. Let's Connect: Instagram | Facebook | YouTube | LinkedIn LIKED THE EPISODE?
