The ORIGINAL meaning is what we should be looking for in the Bible, not "our" meaning. Of course, there is an application, but that is derived from the original intent. Time machines are not available... So we'll just have to use what we have. WWJD is not the answer! Narratives tell what happened, they don't always tell us what we are to do. When we apply narratives wrongly we can actually cause people to walk in sin out of ignorance and worse, even hurt their fellow man. Interpreting Scripture Well, as you know the Bible can be intimidating and at times we can read something within the pages and wonder what we have seen as if it were in another language. While this is true, I believe it stems from the error of thinking that we have to "interpret" every portion of Scripture.  For the most part, Scripture is very simple to understand and when it becomes difficult, we can divine the meaning from the rest of the words around the foggy portions. This podcast will discuss briefly this matter and give some simple insight. The Scripture isn't Always to ME! The Bible isn't always written to me, so why do so many people insist on personalizing verses in a way that changes the meaning? In this podcast number 000b, we are still priming the pump on the foundations of proper thinking with relation to understanding how to rightly read and understand Scripture. So what does it take to understand the Bible? A little knowledge of reading within the context of the grammatical construction. We won't deal with that now, but I want you all to know it's coming. Today we'll just talk briefly about the mindset of hermeneutics. These shorter introductory podcasts will get the pump primed as we prep to tackle the laundry list of contextual matters before us.
