The killing of 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti on Saturday morning marks a dramatic escalation of what was already a very tense moment for Minneapolis. Just a day before, thousands of residents marched in a citywide strike organized by faith leaders and labor unions. They were protesting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions in the state, including the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Renée Good by an ICE officer earlier this month. Although it is not clear how Pretti's interaction with federal agents began on Saturday, bystander footage reviewed by The Post raises questions about Homeland Security's account of what happened. On Saturday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Pretti – a legal gun owner, who was carrying a gun in or near his waistband when he was killed – had been committing an act of domestic terrorism. According to a Post analysis, federal agents had already secured the handgun he was carrying by the time they fatally shot him.Today on “Post Reports,” host Martine Powers speaks with national reporter Kim Bellware about the death of Alex Pretti – why many people are worried that his death won't get a thorough investigation, and how this encounter is raising important questions around America's gun debate.Today's show was produced by Elana Gordon and Rennie Svirnovskiy with help from Sabby Robinson. It was edited by Ariel Plotnick and mixed by Sean Carter. Thanks to Annie Gowen, Lauren Gurley and Gina Harkins. Follow the latest in The Post's Minneapolis coverage here. The Post editorial is not an argument, it is a tantrum disguised as analysis, built almost entirely out of contempt for the reader rather than engagement with the facts. Instead of explaining why the Epstein files should remain limited or why institutional handling has been sound, it opens by ridiculing curiosity itself, portraying transparency as hysteria and accountability as a nuisance. It repeatedly blames the public for prosecutors' workload while carefully ignoring the far more damning question of why millions of pages of sensitive material were allowed to accumulate in secrecy for years without resolution. The piece weaponizes the word “conspiracy” to dismiss any inquiry without ever confronting the actual record of non-prosecution agreements, sealed grand juries, immunity clauses, and documented institutional failures that made skepticism inevitable. By framing bipartisan concern as pathology and inquiry as obsession, the editorial tries to convert distrust — created by government misconduct — into a moral defect of the audience. Its constant appeals to SDNY's prestige function as a shield against scrutiny rather than evidence of competence. The article never once grapples with the known procedural irregularities that protected Epstein for decades, because acknowledging them would collapse its thesis. Instead, it replaces investigation with scolding and substitutes sneer for substance. The result is not journalism but narrative discipline, instructing readers that the real scandal is not trafficking, immunity, or protection, but the audacity of citizens to ask how power escaped consequence.More revealing than anything the piece says is what it refuses to say: nothing about the non-prosecution agreement, nothing about unnamed co-conspirators, nothing about sealed testimony, nothing about intelligence overlaps, nothing about the long record of deliberate suppression that made the Epstein case a legitimacy crisis in the first place. By insisting that “no evidence has ever surfaced” while ignoring flight logs, settlements, testimony, recruitment patterns, and financial trails, the editorial performs selective blindness in service of institutional self-defense. Its claim that Biden's access disproves Trump ties relies on naïve assumptions about leaks and ignores the legal architecture that prevents disclosure, while its mockery of “distraction” theories rings hollow in an article explicitly designed to redirect attention away from the files. The editorial's core fear is not conspiracy thinking but institutional exposure, because the danger of the Epstein archive is not salacious gossip but procedural truth — who intervened, who stalled, who authorized, and who buried. In the end, the piece is less a defense of reason than a plea for quiet, urging the public to abandon scrutiny so elites may remain undisturbed. It treats transparency as vandalism, victims as inconvenience, and curiosity as illness, revealing a worldview in which legitimacy is preserved not by accountability but by exhaustion. Far from debunking hysteria, the editorial demonstrates exactly why distrust persists: when institutions cannot answer questions, they try to shame people into stopping them.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:You'll never guess what the new Epstein scandal is

Episode 51: The Unfortunate Pirate For over a century, "Annabel Lee" has been read as Edgar Allan Poe's final love poem—a haunting elegy to his child bride Virginia, written months before his death. But what if we've been wrong about the poem's true subject all along? In this episode, Mike follows a trail of evidence from a forgotten 1827 tale about a murderous pirate to the windswept shores of Sullivan's Island, where Poe was stationed as a young soldier. Along the way, he uncovers a family accusation that pursued Poe his entire life, a poem he was forced to burn, and the testimony of a woman who nursed him through his darkest hours. What emerges is a radical reinterpretation of America's most famous poem of loss—and a story about what it means to defend someone you love when the whole world has turned against them. The grave of Annabel Lee has finally been found. It was never where anyone thought to look.   Sources Referenced in Episode 51: The Unfortunate Pirate Primary Sources & Archival Materials Ellis & Allan Papers, Library of Congress (John Allan's 1824 letter to William Henry Leonard Poe) Charleston Courier, December 4, 1807 ("The Mourner" by D.M.C.; theatrical advertisements for Placide's company) Charleston News and Courier, September 15, 1912 (account of the Pirate's House legend) The North American (Baltimore periodical containing "The Pirate" by W.H.P., published November 27, 1827) Flag of Our Union (Boston, 1849 — publication of "To My Mother") New York Tribune (publication of "Annabel Lee," October 1849) Broadway Journal, 1845 (Poe's defense of his mother's profession) John Henry Ingram correspondence with Marie Louise Shew (1875–1877) Works by Edgar Allan Poe "Annabel Lee" (1849) "To My Mother" (1849) "Song" (from Tamerlane and Other Poems, 1827) "To M. In Episode 151 of Spellbreakers, host Matt Trump explores how language, belief systems, and cultural conditioning shape perception and behavior. The episode focuses on recognizing false frameworks, questioning inherited assumptions, and understanding how narratives are used to influence thought and action. Matt examines the psychological and symbolic mechanisms that keep people trapped in cycles of confusion, distraction, and emotional manipulation, emphasizing the importance of discernment and self-awareness. Throughout the discussion, the conversation returns to the idea of “breaking spells” by consciously examining words, ideas, and emotional triggers rather than accepting them at face value. This episode encourages listeners to slow down, observe patterns, and reclaim personal agency by separating truth from illusion. Grounded in reflection and critical thinking, Episode 151 continues the show's focus on inner clarity as a prerequisite for meaningful change.

Abstract: The name Helam, attested as a place name in the Bible is also attested as a personal and place name in the Book of Mormon. Evidence suggests that this name is derived from the Hebrew noun ḥayil/ḥêl, which has a wide range of meaning, including “wealth,” “abundance,” “power,” and even “army” (including Pharaoh's “army” or “host”). The form of Helam suggests the meaning, “[God is] their wealth,” “[God is] their abundance,” “[God is] their power,” and even “[God is] their army.” Although the promise latent in the name Helam is celebrated in their exceeding prosperity and abundance, Alma1's people also meet with a dramatic and ironic (apparent) reversal of this abundance and prosperity, when an army of the Lamanites occupies Helam and brings them into bondage. Mormon draws multiple lessons from this event, and he draws substantively from the language of Alma2's conversion accounts to narrate this event and its meaning. The post “They Did Multiply and Prosper Exceedingly in the Land of Helam”: Naming and Narrative Irony in Mosiah 23 first appeared on The Interpreter Foundation.

From day one, The Narrative has been about one thing: equipping you to stand firm, rooted in truth. As believers, we cannot surrender ground by operating on the Left’s terms; we must stand on the natural rights given by our Creator. Aaron, David, and Mike highlight this call to courage as they review a recent protest that disrupted a church service in Minnesota. The guys also discuss the importance of the March for Life and remind listeners to reach out to Senators Moreno and Husted to encourage them to defend the Hyde Amendment. After the news, the hosts sit down with Daniel Harmon, the creative force behind the viral Tuttle Twins cartoon series. Daniel walked away from a high-powered advertising career to build a record-breaking, crowdfunded media empire. Why? Because the modern university system has abandoned sound economics and natural rights. So Daniel decided to teach them to our kids instead. Through the adventures of the twins and their time-traveling grandmother, Daniel explains how he simplifies complex topics like inflation, entrepreneurship, and individual liberty so even an eight-year-old can master them. Daniel underscores why it matters that parents, not institutions, remain the primary voice shaping the next generation. More About Daniel Harmon Daniel Harmon is the creator and showrunner of the Tuttle Twins TV Show, an award-winning cartoon that teaches kids about the principles of freedom and economics. Tuttle Twins is based on the book series that has sold over 5 million copies. In 2020, Tuttle Twins set a record as the #1 crowdfunded kids' show in the world! Daniel is a creative entrepreneur and co-founded Harmon Brothers, a renowned video advertising agency that has driven billions of views and over $700 million in sales. Prior to Tuttle Twins, Daniel served as Chief Creative Officer of Harmon Brothers, where he created, directed, and oversaw ad campaigns, including viral hits for Squatty Potty, Purple mattress, Poo-pourri, Chatbooks, Lume, FiberFix, Camp Chef, and more. In this wide-ranging and deeply thoughtful conversation, writer Emily LaBarge speaks with host Adam Biles about Dog Days, her groundbreaking new work of nonfiction. Rooted in the 2009 hostage event she and her family survived while on holiday in the Caribbean, the book explores not the incident itself but the psychic “mark” it left—its shape, depth, and resistance to narrative. Emily discusses the instability of storytelling after trauma, the pressure to produce coherent versions for police, insurers, or therapists, and the unsettling sense that the world itself had changed in the aftermath. She reflects on the limits of therapy, the body's relationship to memory, and how literature, art, and cinema became “fellow travelers” in her attempt to understand the experience. Adam and Emily also consider genre, experiment, and the essay's capacity to hold fractured thought. Dog Days emerges as a radical, erudite, and emotionally exacting exploration of what it means to live on after rupture.Buy Dog Days: https://www.shakespeareandcompany.com/books/dog-days-13*Emily LaBarge is a Canadian writer based in London. Welcome to Day 2779 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom. Day 2779– The Prophet of the Most High – Luke 1:57-80 Putnam Church Message – 12/14/2025 Luke's Account of the Good News - “The Prophet of the Most High”   Last week, we continued our year-long study of Luke's Narrative of the Good News in a message titled: “The Day Mary Met Gabriel.” – Peace in the Unexpected. This week is the third Sunday of Advent, which is Joy, as we continue to build anticipation of the coming Messiah. Today's passage is the story of: “The Prophet of the Most High.” Joy to the World - Our Core verses for this week will be Luke 1:57-80, found on page 1589 of your Pew Bibles.  The Birth of John the Baptist 57 When it was time for Elizabeth to have her baby, she gave birth to a son. 58 Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they shared her joy. 59 On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah, 60 but his mother spoke up and said, “No! He is to be called John.” 61 They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who has that name.” 62 Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. 63 He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone's astonishment he wrote, “His name is John.” 64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue set free, and he began to speak, praising God. 65 All the neighbors were filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judea people were talking about all these things. 66 Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, “What then is this child going to be?” For the Lord's hand was with him. Zechariah's Song 67 His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied: 68 “Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come to his people and redeemed them. 69 He has raised up a horn> of salvation for us in the house of his servant David 70 (as he said through his holy prophets of long ago), 71 salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us— 72 to show mercy to our ancestors and to remember his holy covenant, 73     the oath he swore to our father Abraham: 74 to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear 75     in holiness and righteousness before him all our days. 76 And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, 77 to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, 78 because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven 79 to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of...

In this episode, I break down why so many people live through celebrities instead of living their own lives. People don't follow famous people just because of talent, they follow them as proxies for the life they wish they had. When someone gives up on their own dreams, they attach themselves to someone who didn't. That way they can feel the success without taking the risk. I explain how this happens and why it keeps people from becoming who they actually want to be. Show Notes: [05:06]#1 Unlived identity seeks expression.  [12:18]#2 Risk avoidance and hero worship.
