Este 10 de junio será la inauguración oficial de la Torre de Jesus de la Sagrada Familia en Barcelona, coincidiendo con el centenario exacto de la muerte de Antoni Gaudí, el vanguardista arquitecto catalán al mando de esta obra colosal. La ceremonia será presidida por el papa León XIV en su visita apostólica a España. Según las últimas estimaciones, la Sagrada Familia se terminará en 2036.  La Gran Cruz, revestida de vidrio y cerámica esmaltada en color blanco, se alza ahora como el punto más alto del templo, alcanzando los 172,5 metros de altura. Este detalle no solo transforma el skyline de la ciudad condal, sino que simboliza el avance hacia la culminación de un proyecto que ha cautivado al mundo durante más de un siglo. Para visitantes como Ana Isendra, mexicana radicada en España, la experiencia es única: "Tenemos un amigo que vino de Italia y se la vamos a enseñar", comenta entusiasmada mientras que su pequeño hijo Aiton, señala con asombro la nueva cruz recién colocada. El legado visionario de Antoni Gaudí La historia del templo se remonta al 19 de marzo de 1882, cuando se puso la primera piedra por parte del obispo Urquinaona. Primer paso para seguir el plano de una iglesia católica neogótica, diseñada por el arquitecto diocesano Francisco de Paula del Villar. Solo un año después, el genio Antoni Gaudí tomó las riendas del proyecto, reimaginándolo por completo bajo los principios del modernismo catalán. Gaudí dedicó su vida a esta obra hasta su fallecimiento el 10 de junio de 1926. Daniela Longobardi, guía oficial de la basílica, explica que la Sagrada Familia es, en esencia, un resumen de toda la arquitectura de Gaudí: "Le preguntaron si le importaba morir y dejar el proyecto de su vida en manos de otros arquitectos. Él dijo que para nada. Tenía una idea de este edificio como un proyecto colectivo a través del paso del tiempo". Según Longobardi, Gaudí dejó deliberadamente ciertos aspectos sin resolver, confiando en que futuros arquitectos utilizarían técnicas avanzadas y estilos vanguardistas para completar su visión, tal como ha sucedido con la Torre de Jesús, construida con métodos que en tiempos de Gaudí habrían parecido de ciencia ficción. Eso sin contar con los miles de turistas que visitan Barcelona en un solo día, por ejemplo, durante una escala de crucero, y no tienen tiempo para hacer las largas filas para entrar, por lo que la observan desde el exterior. Tanto en su exterior como en su interior, el diseño innovador y complejo está lleno de simbolismo. Un ramillete de torres apunta al cielo, mientras que, en el interior, un bosque de columnas se ilumina con la luz natural que atraviesa los vitrales multicolores, creando una atmósfera espiritual que deja sin aliento a todo aquel que la visita. Con la Torre de Jesucristo ya coronada, Barcelona se prepara para el capítulo final de esta epopeya arquitectónica que, finalmente, parece estar más cerca que nunca de su conclusión.
