That experience sparked a lasting passion for teaching, which she continued to pursue through workshops and courses during her time at Berkeley. After graduating, Elizabeth worked as a product designer at education-focused companies like Khan Academy and Primer, designing tools for teachers and students while expanding her perspective on learning. In 2023, she founded Design is a Party, an alternative design school that reflects her playful yet rigorous approach to teaching. Since then, she has launched a two-course series on visual design, developed portfolio-building resources, and led workshops to help the next generation of designers grow their craft.

El PIT CNT realizó este martes su primer paro general bajo el gobierno de Yamandú Orsi, bajo la consigna: “El pueblo primero. Más trabajo y salario: mejor Uruguay”. La medida fue de 24 horas en el sector público, mientras que en el privado se aplicó entre las 9:00 y las 13:00, menos en la enseñanza privada, que paró durante todo el día. Los manifestantes se movilizaron desde la explanada de la Universidad de la República hasta la Plaza Cagancha, donde se realizó el acto que finalizó con la oratoria del secretario general de la central sindical, Marcelo Abdala. El dirigente volvió a insistir en la creación de un impuesto al 1% más rico del país, que —según dijo— permitiría financiar políticas para reducir la pobreza en la infancia. “Se trata de una cúspide social de 25.000 personas y sus propiedades, que estaría recabando aproximadamente un 1% del producto bruto interno, y que resolvería un impulso importante para sostener el grueso de políticas que inmediatamente vuelven al mercado interno. Porque los destinatarios no las van a invertir ni en las islas Caimán ni en las Bahamas, sino que las van a utilizar en comer, poder ir mejor a la escuela y al liceo, poder desarrollar su vida, y que retornen de inmediato en el desarrollo nacional para abatir la pobreza infantil”. En otra parte de su discurso, Abdala sostuvo que el proyecto de ley de presupuesto que prepara el gobierno debe incluir más inversión en educación, ciencia y vivienda. “La ley más importante de los cinco años (del período), debe resolver sí o sí el 6+1 % de inversión para la educación y la investigación, debe resolver vivienda para que nuestro pueblo viva dignamente, debe generar las condiciones para que entren a trabajar en el Estado los trabajadores que se necesiten”. El secretario general del PIT CNT se refirió además al conflicto en la pesca: respaldó a los trabajadores, reclamó el retiro de permisos a las empresas que no negocien y denunció un “modo de producción obsoleto” que atenta contra el derecho al descanso. También expresó solidaridad con los trabajadores de las industrias láctea y frigorífica, y pidió que se instale la negociación colectiva para los funcionarios municipales. Por su parte, la secretaria general adjunta del PIT CNT, Alejandra Pereira, reclamó más recursos para la educación y denunció la falta de personal en empresas públicas, salud y enseñanza. Reiteró la exigencia del 6% del PIB para educación y 1% para investigación “de inmediato y no al final del quinquenio”, advirtiendo que “más educación necesita más dinero”.
