Because I’m stuck at home in the middle of a lovely and hot Central Texas summer during a global pandemic, I thought I’d devote episode 9 to my history with swimming pools, which is a love-hate relationship.

This is week eight of this podcast and today I’ll be talking about the dangers I faced as a stay-at-home mother, when I was raising my two kids at the beginning of the third millennium. Sounds fancier than saying 2000s.

This week’s topic is all about middle age or rather my grappling with being middle age. When I turned 40, words that came out of little girl’s mouth shocked me into the realization that I was no longer young.

This is a special edition of Tales from the hood, motherhood that is podcast. In light of the protests sparked by the murder of George Floyd at the hands of police officers, my teenage son is leading a demonstration in our small Central Texas town. He wants young people to be able to voice their frustration at a justice system that many people of color and others view as unfair. As a mother, I am both proud and terrified for my him and I wanted to share my parenting anxiety with everyone.

Episode 5 of Tales from the hood, motherhood that is exposes my worries as a mother, mainly trying to shield my son from disappointment, could stymie his capitalistic streak, which is why he chose to ignore me.

Here’s what happened when I tried to teach my two boys the valuable lesson of how to tell a white lie.

This is week three of the podcast and I’m going to try to explain the term motherandering, which most mothers have done at one point in their lives. It isn’t pretty and it doesn’t smell good either.
