And that "wasabi" with your sushi? It's probably just colored horseradish, not the real deal. How about maple syrup? Unless it's labeled pure, it's likely just corn syrup with maple flavoring. And did you know that Parmesan cheese in those green cans often contains wood pulp? In this episode, I'm talking about the lies your brain tells you about sex and how those thoughts quietly sabotage connection in your marriage. I explain why your brain is wired to see sexual vulnerability as a threat, how past experiences and conditioning shape the stories you believe, and why those stories feel so true even when they aren't. We look at the specific lies that tend to show up for both higher-desire and lower-desire partners, and how those patterns keep couples stuck in fear, shame, and disconnection. I also share practical ways to recognize when your brain is lying, how to question those thoughts without judging yourself, and how curiosity can open the door to real intimacy again. If sex feels complicated, heavy, or confusing in your marriage, this episode will help you understand what's actually happening and how to move forward with more clarity and compassion.

In this episode, Grant Cardone challenges one of the most accepted assumptions in society: that college is the safest path to success.  Drawing directly from his bestselling book "The Wealth Creation Formula", Grant exposes how higher education has become a financial trap. 4 Years out of the workforce, massive student debt, and no guarantee of meaningful income often lead graduates into low-wage jobs. Grant breaks down why the real cost of college isn't just tuition, but lost time, lost earning power, and delayed financial independence. He also reframes the idea of "targets," explaining why becoming a millionaire is not the real goal. The true objective is freedom, control over your time, income, and choices. Without that context, financial targets can be deceptive and leave people chasing numbers instead of outcomes. This episode serves as a practical guide to escaping the middle-class mentality, questioning conventional advice, and redirecting focus toward income creation, skill development, and real-world experience. Follow us on all social media platforms, visit GrantCardone.com, and listen on SiriusXM Business Radio for more from the Cardone Zone.

It is impossible to deny the impact of lies and white supremacy on the institutional conditions in US prisons. There is a particular power dynamic of racist intent in the prison system that culminates in what Brittany Friedman terms "carceral apartheid." Prisons are a microcosm of how carceral apartheid operates as a larger governing strategy to decimate political targets and foster deceit, disinformation, and division in society. Among many shocking discoveries, Friedman shows that beginning in the 1950s, California prison officials declared war on imprisoned Black people and sought to identify Black militants as a key problem, creating a strategy for the management, segregation, and elimination of these individuals from the prison population that continues into the present day. Carceral Apartheid: How Lies and White Supremacists Run Our Prisons (UNC Press, 2025), delves into how the California Department of Corrections deployed various official, clandestine, and at times extralegal control techniques, including officer alliances with imprisoned white supremacists, to suppress Black political movements, revealing the broader themes of deception, empire, corruption, and white supremacy in American mass incarceration. Drawing from original interviews with founders of Black political movements such as the Black Guerilla Family, white supremacists, and a swath of little-known archival data, Friedman uncovers how the US domestic war against imprisoned Black people models and perpetuates genocide, imprisonment, and torture abroad. Featuring: J. TIMOTHY HUNT — Award-Winning Author • Screenwriter • Journalist • Survivor • Memory Explorer Memory, Trauma, and the Unreliable Truth We Carry When memory fractures, storytelling becomes survival. Miss Liz doesn't serve a beverage; she serves real-life changemakers. She serves J. Timothy Hunt, an award-winning American/Canadian journalist, screenwriter, novelist, children's author, actor, and trauma survivor whose life journey reads like a film script raw, riveting, and deeply human. Born in Los Angeles and raised in California and Montana, Timothy's life has been shaped by childhood abuse, bullying, eating disorders, and a turbulent relationship with a mother who attempted to erase his memories. His newest novel, The Museum of Lies, is a psychological thriller exploring how memory fails, protects, distorts, and sometimes betrays us.The story follows Cary Scott, whose traumatic childhood memories are dismantled by a manipulative therapist, forcing readers to ask: What is truth when memory can't be trusted?Timothy is twice nominated for Canada's Governor General's Award, a four-time nominee for the National Magazine Award, and a winner of multiple distinguished writing prizes. His nonfiction book The Politics of Bones was named one of The Globe and Mail's Best Books of the Year. A graduate of AMDA (NYC) and holder of a master's degree in screenwriting from Staffordshire University, he has worked on major productions including Schitt's Creek, Orphan Black, Anne With an E, and Murdoch Mysteries. Under the pen name Tim Beiser, he is also an acclaimed children's author. Timothy splits his life between Toronto, Canada, and Grignan, France, with his husband of 30 years and their twin sons. Miss Liz pours a cup of truth, memory, and survivorship with J. Timothy Hunt, a writer whose life has navigated darkness, brilliance, creativity, and a relentless pursuit of understanding the human mind. Born in Los Angeles, shaped in New York City, and living in Toronto for nearly three decades, Timothy's story begins in trauma and transforms into art. A survivor of childhood abuse, bullying, and bulimia, he has spent a lifetime reconstructing memory both through truth and through necessity. Timothy is an award-winning journalist, novelist, children's author, screenwriter, actor, and storyteller. He has written for major Canadian publications, earned multiple national awards, and worked on landmark television productions including Schitt's Creek, Orphan Black, and Anne With an E.His newest novel, The Museum of Lies, is a psychological labyrinth exploring memory's fallibility, asking us what happens when the truth we rely on dissolves… and we must invent a new one to survive. Tonight, we explore trauma, resilience, writing, identity, memory, and the stories we create to endure what was once unbearable. What an unforgettable, deeply introspective Teatime with J. Timothy Hunt, a conversation that travelled through memory, trauma, creativity, and the art of turning survival into story.Tonight, Timothy reminded us that the mind protects us in strange and complex ways, that truth isn't always clear, and that healing often requires rewriting the narrative to reclaim our power. His journey from child abuse survivor to award-winning author and screenwriter shows the resilience of the human spirit and the purpose that can arise from pain. His insights on writing, memory distortion, satire, trauma, and truth brought depth and brilliance to the Teatime table. J. Timothy Hunt is an award-winning journalist, novelist, children's author, and screenwriter. Twice nominated for Canada's Governor General's Award, he has written nine books and worked on major TV productions. His latest novel, The Museum of Lies, explores trauma, memory, and the truths we create to survive.“Memory, Trauma, and The Museum of Lies”#TeatimeWithMissLiz#JTimothyHunt#MuseumOfLies#MemoryAndTruth#TraumaSurvivorStory

Richard Allen's appeal makes a stunning allegation: the search warrant that launched the entire Delphi case was built on misrepresentations. In 2017, witness Sarah Carbaugh told police she saw a man walking down the road wearing a tan jacket. He was muddy. In 2022, Detective Tony Liggett swore under oath that Carbaugh described the man as wearing a blue jacket - and that he was muddy and bloody. Tan became blue. Muddy became muddy and bloody. According to the defense, that's not a mistake. That's allegedly altering a witness statement to fit a narrative. But it doesn't stop there. Betsy Blair - the eyewitness who saw a man on the High Bridge platform - gave a detailed description three days after the murders. Young, early twenties, medium build, brown poofy hair. She rated her sketch ten out of ten for accuracy. Richard Allen was 44 with short hair. He looks nothing like that sketch. The jury never saw it. And according to the appeal, Liggett never told the judge about it either. Blair also told Liggett directly that she and Carbaugh saw two different people. The Indiana State Police agreed - they issued a press release in 2019 saying explicitly they were "not the same person." Then Allen gets arrested and suddenly they're the same guy. The car descriptions don't match Allen's vehicle either. Blair described sharp angles, not black. Wilson described a purple PT Cruiser. Allen drove a black Ford Focus hatchback. Without this warrant, no search. Without the search, no gun. Without the gun, no bullet match. Without the bullet match, no arrest. Without the arrest, no solitary. Without solitary, no confessions. The entire case flows from this document. This episode breaks down every alleged misrepresentation in Detective Liggett's affidavit and why the defense is arguing the warrant should never have been signed. #DelphiMurders #RichardAllen #RichardAllenAppeal #DelphiCase #AbbyAndLibby #Delphi #TrueCrime #BridgeGuy #DelphiWarrant #JusticeForAbbyAndLibby Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Welcome to This Year in Work! As we countdown to Christmas, we've pulled together the standout moments from our Tuesday episodes across 2025 — the stories, segments and listener questions that defined the year. From new workplace vocabulary to tech scandals, CEO tantrums and the wildest listener dilemmas, this episode is a celebration of everything that made TWIW what it is. Word of the Year: Duck Shuffler Our unanimous pick. A perfect term for those colleagues making a lot of noise on the surface while quietly shuffling chaos underneath. Straight from Episode 202 — and yes, the Bosnia-and-Herzegovina reference still makes sense in context. Stories of the Year: Big Toddler Energy When we first discussed CEOs behaving like overgrown toddlers, we didn't expect the avalanche of DMs, confessions, and even a YouTube thumbnail featuring us as actual toddlers. From Episode 196. Rule-Bending Leaders From Episode 200, the unforgettable debate on rule-breaking founders… including Al's confession about his beer-delivery business days. The Great Employment Heist Episode 214 gifted us one of the wildest workplace stories of the year: a single engineer secretly working for 22 startups and earning over $1m without doing the work. Hot Take of the Year: Gossip is Good Rebecca Taylor argued that workplace gossip isn't just normal — it's useful. One of our most talked-about segments of the year (Episode 194). Truth or Lies of the Year: The triangle that never was. From Episode 240, the myth-busting moment that sent LinkedIn into meltdown. Workplace Surgery Question of the Year: My Ex is My New Boss!! From Episode 180 — still one of the most awkward, gripping dilemmas we've ever received.

You're listening to American Ground Radio with Stephen Parr and Louis R. Avallone. This is the full show for December 22, 2025. 0:30 Immigration, assimilation, and the American Dream. We break down why equal opportunity — not equal outcomes — has always been at the heart of American success, and why past waves of immigrants embraced shared values to build a common culture. We turn to Vice President JD Vance’s warning about Europe’s immigration crisis, cultural division, and security fears in cities like Paris, and ask whether the United States is heading down the same path. 9:30 Plus, we cover the Top 3 Things You Need to Know. The US seized another oil tanker leaving Venezuela over the weekend. Over the weekend, a dump of Epstein files was released to the public. The Delaware Supreme Court ruled that Elon musk is indeed entitled to the largest compensation package for a CEO in world history. 12:30 Get Performlyte from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 13:00 President Trump made a surprise announcement to build a new “Trump Class” battleship for the U.S. Navy — and it’s already sending the left into a frenzy. We dive into what this could mean for America’s military strength as China ramps up its naval power, and whether battleships could make a comeback in modern warfare. 16:00 American Mamas Teri Netterville and Kimberly Burleson react to a hilarious story involving Conan O’Brien, Will Arnett, and Jason Bateman — and a running joke about grief, friendship, and irreverent humor. The conversation explores how laughter can be a powerful way to cope with loss, even in the middle of heartbreak. From sharing personal family stories to debating why Hollywood comedians on the left embrace edgy humor — until it comes from conservatives — the segment dives into comedy, culture, and double standards in political humor. It’s a heartfelt and funny look at how humor connects people, celebrates life, and keeps friendships strong, even during the toughest times. If you'd like to ask our American Mamas a question, go to our website, AmericanGroundRadio.com/mamas and click on the Ask the Mamas button. 23:00 We break down President Trump’s pro-life legacy, the future of abortion policy after Roe v. Wade, and what it really means to stand for the sanctity of life. From states’ rights and constitutional limits on federal power to supporting single mothers, adoption, foster care, and post-abortion counseling, being pro-life must go beyond just opposing abortion. Republicans should defend life at every stage — and make compassion, not just legislation, the heart of the pro-life message. 26:00 We Dig Deep into Meet the Press moderator Chuck Todd and his Newsmax appearance, where he claimed Americans don’t trust the media because they don’t trust “the experts.” But the real crisis is media credibility — not public ignorance. From COVID coverage and government messaging to questions about President Biden’s mental fitness and climate change debates legacy media treated experts like gospel, dismissed dissent, and labeled skeptics as conspiracy theorists. The result? A collapse of trust in journalism and mainstream news. 32:00 Get Prodovite Plus from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 32:30 New York City mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani, isn't just a Democrat — but an outright socialist poised to take control of America’s largest city. With Mamdani set to be sworn in by Bernie Sanders and New York Attorney General Letitia James, the symbolism couldn’t be clearer. From AOC and Bernie Sanders to politicized justice and government overreach, Mamdani’s rise is a warning sign for where the Democratic Party — and America — could be headed next. 35:30 And we have a Bright Spot coming from Mullins, South Carolina where a private citizens group set out to give their downtown a Hallmark-style holiday makeover — complete with Santa, snowmen, and a nativity scene. But when the town’s mayor stepped in and asked for the nativity to be removed from public view, the fight was on. From free expression to accusations of intolerance toward Christians, this discussion raises a bigger question: does tolerance mean respecting traditions — or erasing them? 39:30 We dive into the legal battle over nativity scenes in public spaces. We break down the First Amendment and explain why the government cannot ban a nativity display simply because “someone might be offended.” While cities can enforce neutral rules on time, place, and manner, singling out a religious display is classic viewpoint discrimination — and courts consistently strike it down. 41:00 And we finish off with the first plane to safely land with Autoland. In this final episode of the Advent season Ruth and Marilyn discuss the unique spiritual invitations and soul work of the winter season. They touch on the inward journey of self-examination, processing grief, and embracing the transformation in life's dormancy. They conclude with a deep discussion on themes of letting go, living in the present, and the spiritual significance of endings and new beginnings. The episode also features a poignant poem by Robert Hayden and an Advent-themed prayer by Ted Loder.   Questions for Reflection: How would you name or characterize the season that you're in?  How can we be present in the season that we're in versus clinging to something else?  How  can we trust the letting go process of one season, letting go of one in order to embrace the next?    In this season of the Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership podcast, Ruth invites listeners to embark on a unique journey during Advent 2025. Departing from traditional liturgical approaches, we will focus on the overlap between the seasons of Advent and winter, inspired by Marilyn McIntyre's book 'Midwinter Light: Meditations for the Long Season.' Ruth will be joined all through Advent by Marilyn McIntyre, herself. Together they will explore themes such as inner reflection, the significance of silence, and the profound connections between spirituality and the physical season of winter.    Marilyn McEntyre is an author of over 20 books, including Caring for Words in a Culture of Lies (2021) and Speaking Peace in a Climate of Conflict (2020). Her book, What's in a Phrase? Pausing Where Scripture Gives You Pause won the Christianity Today book award in spirituality. Midwinter Light, reflections on poems for the “long season,” has just been released. A former professor, now writer, writing coach, speaker, and retreat leader, her deepest interests lie in connections between spirituality, language, healing earth, and each other. She teaches regularly for programs at Western Seminary, New College Berkeley, and the Oblate School of Theology.   Music Credit: Kingdom Come by Aaron Niequist Joseph's Prayer from Advent Music in Solitude   We're starting a Substack!
