#3453 Day 3: Your Breath as Your Anchor - "Anxiety Alchemy Week of Meditations"

    Daily Meditation Podcast

Practice the Ground arc—releasing anxiety by returning to your body and the present moment. This episode teaches a simple, science-supported breathing practice called Anchor Breath (inhale 4, exhale 6–8) designed to calm stress arousal by extending the exhale and signaling safety to the nervous system. You'll hear a relatable story about morning anxiety and learn how to use grounding in everyday transitions—before your phone, before difficult conversations, and whenever your thoughts start to spiral. If you've been feeling scattered, tense, or mentally "up in the air," this episode will help you land in steadiness again—one breath at a time. Technique used: Anchor Breath (4 in / 6–8 out) x 8 rounds Best time to practice: mornings, evenings, before transitions, before stressful interactions Intention: release anxious urgency and reconnect to calm presence This is day 3 of a 7-day meditation series, "Anxiety Alchemy Week,"  episodes 3451-3457. ABOUT THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY: Welcome to The Anxiety Alchemy Week—a 7-day meditation series designed to help you release anxiety and transform that restless, buzzing energy into calm clarity and steady confidence. Each day, you'll be guided through a simple, body-based practice—breathwork, visualization, and gentle mindfulness—so you can soothe your nervous system, quiet spiraling thoughts, and feel more grounded in real life (not just during meditation). Think of this week as a soft return to yourself: less bracing, less overthinking, and more ease in your body, your choices, and your day. THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE - "Anxiety Reset Que Challenge" Choose one daily "reset cue"—each time you touch a door handle, open your phone, or sit down, take one long exhale (or one round of your day's breath). Track it with 7 checkmarks (one per day) and notice the moment your body starts to relax faster—proof your nervous system is learning. THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY  Day 1:  Anxiety Reset Visualization Day 2:  Affirmation: "I trust myself to meet this moment." Day 3:  Anchor Breathing: inhale 4, exhale 6–8, repeat 8 rounds. (If 6–8 feels too long, do 4 in / 5 out.) Day 4:  Prithi Mudra for clarity Day 5:  Third Chakra for compassion Day 6:  Anxiety Reset Flow meditation, combining the week's techniques Day 7:  Weekly review meditation and closure SHARE YOUR MEDITATION JOURNEY WITH YOUR FELLOW MEDITATORS Let's connect and inspire each other! The last time I got out of prison, I was coming out with no money.    All of my money was gone.    Assets, too.    I got a "Dear John" letter in prison.    I had set up my wife for success in my mortgage business where she wouldn't have to stress about money.     She had a good paying job and I had rental assets to keep her afloat.    She ran off with the landscaper and sold all my shit.     Burned through all my savings.    Ground zero never hurt so bad.  A wasteland of despair and emotional, spiritual, mental, and financial damage.    I had to rebuild all over again.    By myself as I had many times before in my life.    But I used dark motivation to do so.    And here's what I know........sometimes our enemies are sent to be our motivation, but over time, as you level up in your life, your motivations will change.    They'll become lighter at every level of accomplishment and success you attain.    Don't allow yourself to continue to be surrounded by those who you use as motivation.     Dark motivation creates more darkness through intention.    This is why its important to stay surrounded by good people, with good intentions.    As you become more successful, people will want to be your friend, but don't be too quick to take them in; that's not your job.    Take time to get to know them.    Learn what they're about.    Insulate yourself with high-vibrational people with killer intuition.    Over the course of your life, you'll see what drives you and motivates you will change in every season.    It could be wanting a new house, new friends, more business, a bigger company, or a better relationship with your family and loved ones.    Whatever it is, use light motivation over darkness.  That which you use to motivate yourself manifests.      About the ReWire Podcast   The ReWire Podcast with Ryan Stewman – Dive into powerful insights as Ryan Stewman, the HardCore Closer, breaks down mental barriers and shares actionable steps to rewire your thoughts. 1. Support for Regime Change Without “Boots on the Ground” Regime change can be morally and strategically justified when it leads to the fall of tyrannical or hostile regimes (e.g., Soviet Union, Iran). Strongly distinguishes between: Non-military or indirect regime change (diplomatic pressure, moral support, rhetoric, economic pressure) Full-scale military invasions, which the speaker opposes based on lessons from Iraq and Libya. Frames “regime change” as a concept unfairly discredited due to past U.S. military failures. 2. Historical Analogy: Reagan and the Cold War Ronald Reagan is a model: “Peace through strength,” rebuilding the military without large-scale invasions. Moral clarity and public rhetoric (e.g., “evil empire,” “tear down this wall”) are catalysts for systemic collapse. The power of words and leadership signaling can inspire dissidents inside authoritarian regimes. 3. Iran as an Active Enemy of the United States Iran is fundamentally different from prior dictatorships: Actively funds terrorism targeting Americans Governed by a theocratic regime portrayed as irredeemable Open U.S. rhetorical and moral support for Iranian protesters and dissidents. Acknowledges uncertainty and risks following a revolution but argues the status quo is worse. 4. Venezuela: Engagement With María Corina Machado A bipartisan Senate meeting with Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado following her meeting with President Trump. Highlights her strategic emphasis on: U.S. unity Avoiding partisan attacks on Trump She is an effective, pragmatic opposition leader acting in Venezuela’s national interest. Strong ties between U.S. senators and Venezuelan communities, especially in Florida and Texas. 5. Trump’s Role in Global Opposition Movements Donald Trump’s leadership and rhetoric is a motivating force behind opposition movements in: Iran Venezuela Cuba These three countries are simultaneously nearing potential regime collapse or elections. Claims this could represent the most significant geopolitical shift since the fall of the Berlin Wall, while acknowledging high risks. 6. Military Operation Against Maduro (U.S. Arrest) A recent military raid targeting Nicolás Maduro: Maduro described as being protected by Cuban military forces Operation allegedly resulted in: No American fatalities Multiple enemy combatant deaths The Senator visited three wounded U.S. soldiers recovering in San Antonio. Emphasizing: Their bravery Their role in “changing the Western Hemisphere” Symbolic gestures (retrieving bullets/shrapnel as mementos) Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now. It's interesting. 13-yr-old's flying out for the weekend to play regular-season games, $2500 trips to Arizona for...what? And you don't get to play against that cross-town rival this season for your school, by the way. AND the pot at the end of this rainbow is probably a partial scholarship at a non-D1 college. ABOUT THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY: Welcome to a brand-new 7-day series on the Daily Meditation Podcast: Neuro Reset—created for that very real moment when the New Year is still here… but your nervous system is already asking for a gentle reboot. Because Week 3 can be a turning point. The excitement of fresh starts fades, your routines get a little wobbly, and your mind starts opening extra tabs: What if I'm behind? What if I can't keep this up? What if I need to start over? If you've felt that, you're not doing anything wrong. It's simply your brain and body recalibrating. This week is designed to help you reset from the inside out—with short, practical meditations that support emotional balance, stress relief, clearer focus, better sleep, and a steadier mood. We'll work with simple tools that calm the nervous system and help you come back to yourself—again and again—without pressure. Each day has an arc and a focus, and today we begin with the arc of Release—releasing mental clutter, tension, and the "I should be doing more" energy… so you can feel lighter, clearer, and more supported moving forward. So settle in. You don't have to force calm. You're simply practicing a reset—one breath at a time. THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE - "The 7-Day Neurocycle Reset Challenge" Every day: 10 minutes (2 minutes breath + 6 minutes guided Neurocycle step + 2 minutes journaling). THIS WEEK'S MEDITATION JOURNEY  Day 1:  Refresh Visualization Day 2:  Affirmation: "Clarity and calm begin with each new step." Day 3:  Coherent Breathing: Inhale ~5 seconds, exhale ~5 seconds (no holds), for 3–5 minutes. Why: A steady rhythm is one of the simplest ways to "reset the system." Day 4:  Gyan Mudra for clarity Day 5:  Fourth Chakra for compassion Day 6:  Neuro Reset Flow meditation, combining the week's techniques Day 7:  Weekly review meditation and closure Welcome to this special series: Refresh — a gentle, powerful reset for the start of a brand new year. If you've been craving that clean-slate feeling—not just on your calendar, but inside your mind and in the way you live—this is for you. Because a new year isn't only a date. It's an invitation. To clear what's been cluttering your inner space… to come back to what matters… and to choose how you want to feel as you move forward. Over the next seven episodes, we're going to refresh seven key areas of your life—not with pressure, perfection, or a long list of goals… but with inner clarity. Think of this series like opening the windows of your life and letting fresh air move through every room. Each day, we'll focus on one area—simple, practical, and deeply supportive. You'll be guided through: a short, grounding insight to create perspective a few reflective prompts to clarify what's true for you right now and a calming meditation to help you integrate the shift—so this becomes something you feel, not just something you think about This isn't about fixing yourself. You're not behind. You don't need to become someone else to have a meaningful year. This is about coming home to yourself—and gently updating the way you live, so your days match the person you're becoming. So wherever you are—making coffee, sitting in your car, walking outside, or curled up in a quiet corner—take a breath and let this be your beginning. Welcome to your refresh. Let's start the year with clarity… and create a life that feels clean, aligned, and truly yours. SHARE YOUR MEDITATION JOURNEY WITH YOUR FELLOW MEDITATORS Let's connect and inspire each other! This episode of The Science of Happiness explores the growing scientific evidence behind qigong, revealing how mindful movement can support both physical health and psychological well-being.We want to hear from you! Thank you for helping us make the podcast even better! One Way To Do This Practice: Stand and settle: Stand with your feet hip-width apart, knees soft, arms relaxed by your sides. Take a moment to feel the ground beneath your feet and let your body arrive. Ground through your feet: Gently rock or sway in small circles, slowly shifting your weight to notice different parts of your feet making contact with the floor. Let your balance find its own rhythm. Breathe slowly and naturally: Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth, allowing your breath to deepen without forcing it. Imagine your breath moving through your whole body, not just your chest. Begin gentle, flowing movements: Move your arms and torso in smooth, continuous motions—circling, swaying, or softly lifting and lowering your hands. Keep your movements relaxed and fluid rather than stiff or controlled. Soften your body and attention: Release unnecessary tension in your jaw, shoulders, and hands. Place your attention on how the movements feel from head to toe, letting your mind stay with sensation rather than thoughts. Close with stillness: After 10–15 minutes, return to standing quietly. Notice any changes in your energy, mood, or sense of grounding before stepping back into your day. We believe all neighborhoods deserve to be covered in a meaningful way.We amplify positive stories, cover development and local school council meetings and serve as watchdogs in neighborhoods often ostracized by traditional news media.Ground-level coverageOur neighborhood-based reporters don't parachute in once to cover a story. They are in the neighborhoods they cover every day building relationships over time with neighbors. We believe this ground-level approach not only builds community but leads to a more accurate portrayal of a neighborhood.Stories that matter to you — every daySince our launch seven years ago, we've published more than 30,000 stories from the neighborhoods, covered hundreds of community meetings and send daily and neighborhood newsletters to more than 150,000 Chicagoans. We've built this loyalty by proving to folks we are not only covering their neighborhoods, we are a part of them. Some of us have internalized the national media's narrative of a broken Chicago. We aim to change that by celebrating our neighborhoods and chronicling the resilience of the people who fight every day to make Chicago a better place for all.

Welcome to Day 3 of your 7-Day Neurocycle Reset—today's arc is GROUND. Yesterday we practiced Rest. Today, we stabilize. In this episode, you'll practice coherent breathing—inhale for ~5 seconds, exhale for ~5 seconds (no holds)—for 3–5 minutes to help reset your emotional state and calm your nervous system. Dr. Caroline Leaf calls the overwhelm and looping thought patterns "your mental mess." Today we use a simple, steady rhythm to interrupt that mess, anchor in the present moment, and create the clarity you need for your next step. In this meditation you'll: Ground your attention in the body Use 5–5 breathing to reset stress and steady your mind Practice meeting thoughts without getting pulled into them Leave with a calm, grounded baseline you can return to anytime Best time to listen: morning start, midday overwhelm, pre-meeting nerves, or whenever your mind feels scattered. This is day 3 of a 7-day meditation series, "7-Day Neuro Reset to Calm Your Nervous System,"  episodes 3444-3450. While homicide totals and most other violent crime figures dropped in Chicago last year, homicides that resulted from domestic violence increased by 15 percent, according to the city's violence reduction dashboard.Advocates say the surge in violent abuse is due to “a tornado of risk factors,” including longstanding issues exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath, such as unstable employment, food insecurity and homelessness. Host - Jon HansenReporter - Mina Bloom Want to donate to our non-profit newsroom?

In this episode of Behind the Prop, Bobby Doss and Wally Mulhern explore how pilot training can—and should—better integrate ground knowledge with real-world flying skills. Titled “From Ground to Sky: The Equal Journey,” the discussion challenges the long-standing separation between classroom learning and cockpit experience, arguing that true pilot proficiency comes from blending the two from the very beginning.Wally shares insight from airline training at United, where modern programs no longer rely on weeks of traditional classroom ground school. Instead, pilots complete short, focused computer-based training at home and transition almost immediately into flight training devices. By learning systems, normal procedures, and abnormal scenarios while seated in the cockpit and actively manipulating switches, pilots gain a deeper, more durable understanding than rote memorization ever provides. This hands-on approach reduces disengagement and accelerates learning by tying knowledge directly to action.Bobby contrasts this with common practices in general aviation, where students are often encouraged to “get ground school out of the way” before flying. He explains why this mindset is flawed, emphasizing that interacting with taxiway signs, runway markings, airspace, and procedures in real time creates understanding that flashcards and videos cannot. Ground knowledge, he argues, should be continuously reinforced throughout flight training—not treated as a one-time hurdle.A major theme of the episode is navigating the overwhelming number of training resources available today. Both hosts stress that the “best” ground school is the one aligned with a student's flight school and instructor syllabus. Using mismatched materials often creates confusion and slows progress, even if those alternatives are cheaper or more popular. The conversation then shifts to the critical gap between passing a written exam and being ready for a checkride—or real-world flying. Wally shares checkride examples where applicants knew answers by memory but struggled to apply them in practical situations, particularly with weather minimums and airspace requirements. Bobby adds personal experiences where rote knowledge failed under real operational pressure, reinforcing the need for contextual learning. The episode also addresses modern avionics training, clarifying misconceptions about navigation identification and encouraging pilots to properly use available technology, including visual identifiers and autopilots, as safety tools. The takeaway is clear: great pilots are not just “good sticks.” They are aviators who seamlessly combine ground knowledge, judgment, and flying skill to make sound decisions in real-world conditions.
