There are just five weeks left in the regular season, but the playoff picture only seems to be getting more muddied at this stage. There are teams like the Green Bay Packers, young and led by an inexperienced QB in Jordan Love, who are finding their stride and clawing into the wild card hunt after knocking off Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in Lambeau on Sunday night.  At the top of the NFC, the 49ers came into Philadelphia, and left no doubt that they are the favorite, regardless of where they are playing. And over in the AFC wild card picture, the Texans continue to impress behind rookie signal caller CJ Stroud. So today, Andrew Hawkins explains what he was looking for on the field on Sunday, and tells us why the margins in the NFL are razor thin. Learn more about your ad choices. This week on the Vintage RPG Podcast, Momatoes is back to chat with us about her new RPG, The Marvelous Children of Inang-Uri. It's a worldmaking game that spans generations, has a splash of hidden traitor mechanics for flavor and involves a culture living in symbiosis with a gigantic creature/entity that they also call home — that's the world that the players make and that the characters must safeguard (unless they're a traitor, in which case they want Inang-Uri dead). As with ARC, a game that plays with both the idea of looming doom and also the embrace of hope in the face of it. It's gorgeously illustrated and laid out, too! And best of all, its available NOW! * * * Until December 12, 100% of all sales of The Marvelous Children of Inang-Uri will go to Doctors Without Borders. You can follow Momatoes on Twitter or keep up with her projects on her official site. * * * Stu's book, Monsters, Aliens, and Holes in the Ground is for sale now! Buy it! Patreon? Discord? The 28th annual Conference of the Parties, COP28, opens this week in Dubai. For the 28th time, the nations of the world have gathered to see what progress they can make on addressing the increasingly global climate crisis. It's fair to wonder why, after three decades, we still haven't taken the collective action necessary. And it's equally fair to wonder why diplomats continue to bother with what Greta Thunberg famously called “blah, blah, blah.” This year's COP marks the first “Global Stocktake,” an assessment of how the nations of the world are doing compared to the emissions-cutting commitments they made in Paris. The answer? Not well. And with COP28 being hosted by a major oil and gas producing nation and led by an industry executive, what hope is there for progress? History is not merely his story, nor is it entirely accurate or completely fabricated. It is a complex web of details that, from whatever the perspective, is missing context. From west to east and back, we know a mythologized history, which although not entirely fabricated, rarely allows for context and other points of view. The same is true within so-called alternative communities of history and archeology. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5328407/advertisement

This week, the Idiots begin by discussing… another comedian. Matt Rife found controversy this past week, as people took umbrage with the opening joke of his recent Netflix special. Why? Oddly enough, the outrage was over the fact that the joke in question involved domestic violence. Why wasn't anyone upset that it was basically a stock joke, something that's been around forever?  Come on, Netflix. You need to air original content. That said, when called upon to defend his actions and/or apologize, Rife didn't back down, he doubled down. And good on him. Speaking of cancel culture, the shoe is on the other foot for Susan Sarandon and Scream VI actress Melissa Barrera lost work because of their words.  (Or, in Melissa's place, her Tweets.) The woke left is turning on itself; becoming an ouroboros and eating itself. When angry over things the right wing says? That's justified! But unless you're pure these days, you find yourself cast out of the cool kids circle. Also: it's 2023, is your school district still so stupid it doesn't realize it'll go viral if it attacks a marginalized group? Well, Kansas didn't get the memo, because they made an indigenous boy cut his hair. Why? Too much time on their hands or something gender something something. Basically, stupid reasons. But, now the boy'll get paid, and it'll be the Kansas tax dollars doing the paying.  Finally: House speaker Mike Johnson hates the gay community.  Does that make him gay? Jake has thoughts. Idiots on Parade: we mock the news, so you don't have to. Tune in and get your giggle on. Find Jake at @jakevevera Find nathan at nathantimmel.com

Today We're talking about my recent hunt in Kansas. Three seasons ago I set a goal to kill a Kansas whitetail from the ground. I had a lot of opportunities that I screwed up the previous seasons. Each set up got a little better last year and I really felt this was the year to meet my goal. I wasn't looking for a giant…when I hunt out of state, my mission is to try and take a buck that is the average/representative animal for the area I'm hunting. It would've been really easy to screw this hunt up. A lot of things when the deer were approaching were not breaking my way. I had to make a lot of small and quick decisions on how to play the situation. I think a lot of things I do outside of hunting that helps me be more present in my day to day life, and mentally in control of my emotions/actions was actually what allowed the arrow to get released…and be fatal. When it came to those critical seconds that stood between a grip and grin and just another story of a great encounter…I was in control this time. I remembered every detail…no auto-pilot…no blacking out and not remembering the shot. Fully present. I hope you all dig the session, and as always thank you all for listening. Aspireship looks to proactively match such leaders with fast-growing employers in need of talented and ambitious professionals. Christine has previous experience as a Senior Director of Sales for large corporations such as MINDBODY Inc. and Infusionsoft. However, she is also an experienced entrepreneur, having previously owned Room 4 Baby, a baby and children's store in Gilbert, AZ, where she supervised all aspects of a small baby business, from sales staff supervision to payroll and contract negotiation. Christine currently resides in Scottsdale, Arizona. Christine joins us today to reveal how identifying difficulties in hiring consistently good talented people for selling environments led to the creation of Aspireship, a course platform allowing someone without experience to learn foundational selling. She explains how such untapped potential – when trained – can be matched with a company whose focus is on the employee's competency and ability rather than their previous resume. Christine takes a holistic look over workforces and why she thinks it's important everyone in a business, from marketing to accounts, should understand selling when representing a company. She also discusses the role of leadership when placing new hires in an organization and how vital these leaders are for the success and longevity of such placements. “Do a roleplay. Feel how it feels. Are you understanding those concepts and can you do it?” – Christine Rogers This week on Breaking Barriers: Why everybody is a salesperson – or should be – inside your organization The benefits of a workforce having the skills to ask good questions Why all workforce members should be able to articulate the value of their organization How to set up your sales team for success Why you need a leader in place to monitor the progression and development of new hires The qualities you should be looking for in your next leader Connect with Christine Rogers: Aspireship's Website Aspireship on LinkedIn Aspireship on Facebook Christine Rogers on LinkedIn Connect with Hire Ground: Hire Ground's Website Hire Ground on LinkedIn Hire Ground on Facebook Hire Ground on Twitter Cloe Guidry-Reed on LinkedIn Adam Moore on LinkedIn This podcast is brought to you by Hire Ground Hire Ground is a technology company whose mission is to bridge the wealth gap through access to procurement opportunities. “At this point, Deion Sanders has more in common with Jim Jones than with Nick Saban.” After all the hype, all the fanfare, Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes finished his first season in Boulder in the same place in the Pac-12 as the previous regime: dead last. Fortunately for all of you who joined the cult in Colorado and drank the Coach Prime Flavor Aid, all you will suffer is wounded pride and ego. Rappers on the sidelines and DJs in the locker room aren't a winning culture for football teams or for the young men in the uniforms. In today's fire-starter, Jason unpacks his season-long thoughts and off-season hopes for Coach Prime. Steve Kim joins “Fearless” to share his thoughts on Deion and Colorado's season and Week 11 in the NFL. The Denver Broncos have won four straight games; is it time to apologize to Russell Wilson? Who had the more impressive win, Detroit or San Francisco, and whose seat is hotter, Brandon Staley's in San Diego or Ron Rivera's in Washington? We want to hear from the Fearless Army!!
