In the final episode of "The Mystery of Seeds," Duane Sheriff concludes his teaching on the Parable of the Sower from Mark Chapter 4, reviewing the four types of ground which represent the conditions of our hearts. Jesus called this parable foundational. By understanding this parable, we can connect with other biblical truths. The Word of God, as seed, faces hurdles in bearing fruit due to hardened hearts, offense from tribulation, and life's distractions such as worry and the deceitfulness of riches. Satan's deliberate strategy is to steal God's Word from our hearts. Be quick to repent from sin to keep our hearts soft, guard against offense that opens the door for the enemy, and cast our cares upon the Lord. When we cultivate good ground—hearts that hear, accept, and act on God's Word—we can expect a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundredfold return on God's precious seed. The Mystery of Seeds - Duane Sheriff Ministries
In the twelfth episode of "The Mystery of Seeds," Duane Sheriff teaches on the parable of the sower, explaining the four types of ground where God's Word can be sown and Satan's specific strategies to steal the seed from each type of heart. The wayside ground represents hard-packed soil, similar to how sin hardens our hearts through deception. Satan steals the Word immediately by sowing confusion and lack of understanding. Stony ground refers to those who initially receive God's Word with joy but don't allow it to take root. Satan attacks through tribulation and persecution, leading to offense and causing them to abandon the seed. His primary tactic is to uproot good seed and replace it with bitterness. Thorny ground is choked by the cares of this world. Even powerful seeds cannot produce a fruitful harvest when competing with worries and worldly distractions.Guard your heart against the enemy's tactics by becoming good ground, soil that receives God's Word, takes deep root, and produces an abundant harvest of thirty, sixty, or a hundredfold. The Mystery of Seeds - Duane Sheriff Ministries

We believe all neighborhoods deserve to be covered in a meaningful way.We amplify positive stories, cover development and local school council meetings and serve as watchdogs in neighborhoods often ostracized by traditional news media.Ground-level coverageOur neighborhood-based reporters don't parachute in once to cover a story. They are in the neighborhoods they cover every day building relationships over time with neighbors. We believe this ground-level approach not only builds community but leads to a more accurate portrayal of a neighborhood.Stories that matter to you — every daySince our launch five years ago, we've published more than 25,000 stories from the neighborhoods, covered hundreds of community meetings and send daily and neighborhood newsletters to more than 130,000 Chicagoans. We've built this loyalty by proving to folks we are not only covering their neighborhoods, we are a part of them. Some of us have internalized the national media's narrative of a broken Chicago. We aim to change that by celebrating our neighborhoods and chronicling the resilience of the people who fight every day to make Chicago a better place for all.

Megan chats with Zoe Forestier about using structure, batching, and mindful planning to protect your energy, sustain creativity, and actually enjoy the blogging journey, especially during high-pressure seasons. Zoe is the voice behind Girl Meets Fire, where she shares Puerto Rican recipes with a global audience. Her work blends tradition with modern strategies, from food photography to SEO-driven content planning. Alongside the blog, she developed the Firestarter Planner, a tool designed to help food bloggers streamline their workflows, track ideas, and stay consistent without burning out. Her passion lies in making content creation manageable and sustainable for fellow bloggers. Food blogging can feel like juggling a dozen spinning plates. Zoe has found a system that keeps her grounded. She shares how she uses planning as both a productivity and mindset tool. From batching content before Q4 chaos to color-coding creative focus, she teaches us how organization can actually spark more joy. Key points discussed include: Structure sparks freedom: Systems don't cage creativity, they protect it. Plan ahead for peace: Treat each quarter like a recipe and prep the ingredients early. Batch like a pro: Group similar tasks to save mental energy and time. Mindset over hustle: Your planner can become a self-care practice, not a stress list. Simplify your workspace: One planner beats seven notebooks every time. Build in joy: Scheduling breaks and simple rituals keeps burnout at bay. Stay consistent, not perfect: Progress compounds when you stop starting over. Ground yourself in purpose: Every quarter, revisit why you started, then plan from there. In this episode of the Contested Ground podcast, hosts Phil Tarrant, Liam Garman, and Major General (Ret'd) Dr Marcus Thompson unpack two unfolding challenges shaping Australia's strategic outlook, an Iran-linked cyber breach exposing sensitive defence data, and China's latest move to outmanoeuvre Canberra in the Pacific. The discussion opens with the major cyber breach linked to Iran-aligned actors, exposing sensitive information from Australian defence programs through vulnerabilities in overseas contractors. Thompson warns that modern military platforms are now fully digital extensions of the network, and that the Australian Defence Force risks becoming collateral damage without stronger supply-chain defence. The hosts then turn to the Pacific, where China has unveiled a record $86 million aid package to Vanuatu, a direct counter to the Albanese government's stalled security pact. Garman notes the diplomatic setback highlights the limits of Australia's traditional leverage, with Port Vila reluctant to jeopardise its economic ties with Beijing. The conversation also covers China's commissioning of its first fully indigenous aircraft carrier, signalling a major step in Beijing's push for blue-water naval capability. Your Energy Begins the Conversation From the moment your horse becomes aware of you, before any halter, tack, or aids, the conversation has already started. In this episode, we explore how your energy sets the tone for the entire interaction. Whether it's calm, chaotic, focused, or distracted, your energy speaks louder than your words or actions. Suggested Reflection: Pause before you approach your horse. Ask yourself: What energy am I bringing into this space? Intentional Stillness as a Training Tool Doing "nothing" might be the most impactful thing you do this week. We often think connection comes through doing, but true partnership is often built through simply being with your horse. Still. Calm. Present. Try This: Spend 5–10 minutes just being with your horse this week. Sit, stand, or walk quietly, no agenda. Just notice the shift. The Power of Breath Awareness Lorna reminds us that breath is one of the most underutilized tools in riding and groundwork. Shallow, erratic breath reflects stress. Deep, calm breathing brings safety and groundedness. Your horse will feel the difference. Mini Exercise: Before interacting, take 3 slow, conscious breaths. Let each exhale settle you more deeply into the moment. Partnership Starts on the Ground, Not in the Saddle Many riders focus on improving their connection during rides, but often skip over the groundwork of connection that starts long before the ride. The first look, the first breath, the first touch. All shape your training outcomes. Shift in Perspective: See every interaction, grooming, leading, even watching from the fence, as an opportunity to strengthen your partnership.

PREVIEW Jeff Bliss discusses using air cabs to alleviate traffic in Los Angeles, especially during the Olympics, noting that ground travel to venues currently takes over an hour. While air cabs offer a quick trip, traffic has worsened significantly since 1984. This expensive solution, available to those who can afford it, will only make a small dent in the overall traffic issue. Guest: Jeff Bliss.

Today I'm joined by Evan Harrison CEO of Kiss The Ground.Regenerative Agriculture is a powerful growing movement, which is so much more than simply a way for farmers to farm. It is a reconnection for all of us to the food we are consuming and the soil beneath our feet. It offers us a truly viable solution for both personal and planetary health, a more prosperous life for the farmers who feed us and steward the land and more nutrient dense foods available in our local communities, which is the foundation to improving our own health and wellbeing. There are 4 core principles to Regenerative agriculture but it doesn't have to be all or nothing, it is an ecosystem approach where we learn to listen, work with and respond to nature, it is not new, drawing on the practices from Indigenous people. It is already having an incredible impact on our health and environment. Evan reminds us it's important to meet people where they are and share information that will excite and inspire them. Kiss the Ground have an incredible diversity of resources to support consumers to find healthier food but also to share the stories of the farmers who are writing a new story in which both nature and humans can thrive. Drawing on his background building audiences in the media industry, including as founding President of Digital at iHeartRadio and leading roles at AOL Music and Univision, Harrison has launched transformative initiatives for Kiss the Ground, such as a $500,000 direct-to-farmer grants program and an award-winning content series; all geared to drive this nonprofit's goal of reaching a tipping point in regenerative agriculture awareness by 2030.Kiss the Ground is an audience-supported nonprofit promoting regeneration and healthy soil as a viable solution for our wellness, water, and climate crisis. He leaves, hurt — but not before Emily says she really wishes they could've just taken that walk in the snow.Eleven months later, Emily is out for a jog. She's thought about leaving and starting over in another small town…but she just couldn't. She loves it in Fletcher's Grove.Cut to the diner: two teens are hanging out in a booth. One is Violet — Sam's daughter, who Emily no longer employs at The Mistletoe because of how things ended with Sam. The other is Kyle, and they are very clearly into each other. We also meet Tim Hinley, the chess coach. His team just lost, and he is a full-on grumpy elf.Later, Emily bumps into Sam. Awkward small talk. They go their separate ways. Then we see the football coach arrive home to find a note on his door. He reads it, looks panicked, grabs what appears to be a go-bag, jumps into his car, and speeds away.Speaking of go-bags — Emily has been much more cautious this year, constantly monitoring anything related to Chimera ever since they almost caught her last Christmas. She's never letting her guard down again.Violet asks Emily to teach her chess. Emily suggests she ask Coach Hinley. That's when Violet reveals: he's missing. After that day at the diner, he resigned and vanished. This sets off alarm bells. Emily goes to his house — something's off — so she takes the case to Sam. He says he'll look into it. After she leaves, we see he's still investigating who Emily really is.Emily goes to the school to drop off decorations for Violet and stumbles into the chess team competing. She meets Vice Principal Richard Leeland, who is now acting chess coach. Emily accidentally reveals she knows a lot about chess. Since he only stepped in to help his son on the team, he asks if she'll take over coaching. She says no.Emily continues to dig and hears rumors that Coach Hinley was romantically involved with a rival coach. Suspicious. She brings this to Sam, and it leads to a big argument.Emily finds the rival coach and asks about it. The coach denies everything — very aggressively — insisting she would never damage her reputation.Emily then stumbles upon Kyle fighting with the VP's son over chess drama — Janitor Ben Ayres steps in to break it up.Sam arrives and is like, Why are you everywhere?? He takes a call — Emily overhears — they found Tim's car at the airport… but his suitcase is still in the trunk. The next day, Emily returns to question the VP. On her way out, she chats with Janitor Ben — when a dog wanders in. It's Tim's dog.Who abandons their dog? They follow the dog into the basement, where it stops on a patch of new concrete.Emily calls Sam. Ground radar is brought in.There's a body.Sam later comes to Emily's house to update her, and sparks fly again — but he spots a piece of paper under her couch and quietly takes a picture of it.Meanwhile, Sam reviews security footage and sees Tim arguing with Kyle before Kyle punches the wall. That same day, Kyle asks Violet to the winter dance. She says yes… just as Sam walks in and arrests Kyle.Emily confronts Sam. He shows her a threatening note found on Tim's door. In order to help the investigation, Emily agrees to coach the chess team.Kyle returns after being released and insists he's innocent. Emily overhears the VP chewing out his son. She ends the day playing chess with Janitor Ben.It turns out the VP's son was selling stolen test papers, and Coach Hinley found out. Then the rival coach shows up to accept the full-time position — but Emily already took it. Emily sees Tim's lucky tie in her back seat, and Sam brings her in for questioning. Another big blow-up — but later they calm down and almost kiss. Again. Sam retreats… again. It's Winter Dance time!Violet grabs something from her locker and finds a note:“Stay away from Kyle. This is your only warning.”Emily, also at the dance, takes this chance to snoop in VP Leeland's office and finds practice sheets of Tim's signature.Meanwhile, Violet shows the note to the VP. He tells her to come with him.Emily is searching for Violet when she runs into Janitor Ben — who is distraught. He admits he wrote the warning note because he didn't want Kyle distracted from chess. Why does he care so much?Because — Kyle is his son.Kyle overhears and runs off in shock.Emily hears Violet scream and rushes to the VP's office. The VP's son just confessed everything — not realizing Violet was there. We learn the truth:Tim confronted the VP because he thought the VP killed his dog.The VP's son showed up, panicked, and shoved Tim.Tim fell — his head hit a coat hook, killing him instantly. The VP covered it up to protect his son.Sam arrives, hears the confession, and arrests him.Violet finds Kyle. They slow dance outside in the snow.Emily and Sam watch from a distance.Throughout the episode, we've seen flashbacks of Emily's past — how she joined a computer team and pitched a new game: Chimera. The final shot: Sam reviewing his notes, circling the word Chimera. The company at one point was located in the former Montgomery Ward Warehouse along the banks of the Chicago river. On today's Block Club Chicago podcast, sponsored by Groupon, we turn the page to the next chapter - Mike Tepeli from Groupon on what's next for this still Chicago-based company, and we hear from a small business that exists because of Groupon, and is seeing big results from their current partnership with the company. More On GrouponMore On Get A Grip Trapeze Want to donate to our non-profit newsroom? CLICK HEREWho we areBlock Club Chicago is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit news organization dedicated to delivering reliable, relevant and nonpartisan coverage of Chicago's diverse neighborhoods.
In the years following Jeffrey Epstein's death in 2019, Ghislaine Maxwell embarked on a series of increasingly desperate maneuvers to stay ahead of law enforcement and public outrage. She sold off properties, switched residences across continents, and relied on trusted intermediaries to handle her affairs while keeping her own movements concealed. After Epstein's arrest, Maxwell vanished from her usual social circuits — abandoning her Manhattan townhouse and retreating to secluded locations, including the New Hampshire estate where she was eventually captured. She operated through shell companies, transferred assets, and even obtained new phone numbers and email accounts under aliases to evade detection. Her inner circle shrank to a few loyal associates as she ghosted from society events to secret hideouts, determined to outwait the storm she knew was coming.Publicly, she maintained a façade of denial through her attorneys, claiming ignorance and victimhood while simultaneously orchestrating behind-the-scenes damage control. She avoided extradition hotspots, used cash purchases to avoid paper trails, and reportedly communicated through encrypted apps to avoid interception. There were even rumors she was planning to seek refuge in countries without U.S. extradition treaties. Her efforts weren't just about physical evasion — they were about controlling the narrative, keeping herself one step removed from Epstein's legacy while quietly managing her finances and legal exposure. But when the FBI finally tracked her down in July 2020, the illusion shattered. Years of careful positioning, secrecy, and misdirection came crashing down, exposing the hollow strategy of a woman who believed her privilege and cunning could outlast justice.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

Why Slow Is the New Secret Weapon for Actors The entertainment industry glorifies hustle. Fast auditions, faster turnarounds, constant pressure to keep up. But what if slowing down is the real secret to booking more roles and building a lasting career? In this episode of the Acting Business Bootcamp Podcast, I talk about the power of slow and why being intentional, grounded, and patient can make you not only a stronger performer but also a more fulfilled human being. The Myth of Hustle: Why Speed Doesn't Equal Success We've been conditioned to think that "busy" means "productive." But when we're rushing, we're not really seeing. We miss red flags, subtle opportunities, and the emotional details that make our performances alive and specific. Slow isn't lazy. Slow is strategic. When I slow down, I make choices instead of reacting. I create work that's clearer, more specific, and more emotionally grounded. That's what casting directors respond to. The Muscle of Choice: Choosing What's Uncomfortable but Effective I often talk about building your "muscle of choice." It's the ability to choose what's right for your growth, even when it doesn't feel comfortable. For actors, that might mean saying no to an overbooked schedule or pausing before hitting record on a self-tape. It's in those small, quiet moments of choice that confidence and intuition start to strengthen. Presence Books Acting Jobs One of the things I say all the time is, "Presence books acting jobs." When you slow your breath, your thoughts, and your body, you naturally drop into the moment. That's where truth lives. And that truth is what makes casting directors sit up and go, "Yes, that's it." Fast energy reads as anxious. Slower energy reads as confident and grounded. The actor who listens, pauses, and responds authentically will always stand out. From Reaction to Response: A Lesson in Mindful Acting Here's one of my favorite reminders: "A response is a reaction with a pause and a thought behind it." When you create that pause, your performances become more thoughtful, layered, and real. That same pause helps on the business side too. It gives you control over your energy instead of letting the industry run it for you. Slow Builds Longevity A fast-paced career burns out fast. A steady one grows stronger over time. I've been a professional actress since 1988. That's more than three decades of working in this business. What's sustained me isn't the hustle; it's learning how to pace myself, stay present, and take joy in the process. Slow isn't just good for your craft. It's how you create a sustainable, happy career. Practical Ways to Practice the Power of Slow Pause before you slate. Ground your breath and remind yourself that you're safe. Meditate regularly. It keeps your body calm and expressive. Work with intention. Do fewer things, but do them with care. Create safe spaces. Set up your self-tape and your mindset to help you feel at ease. Reflect often. Ask yourself, "Am I working hard, or am I working effectively?" Join "The Weekly Adjustment" If this episode resonated with you, come join my weekly mindset class, The Weekly Adjustment. You'll learn how to calm your thoughts, build confidence, and use the power of slow in every part of your acting life.

In the seventh episode of "The Mystery of Seeds," Duane Sheriff explores the profound mystery of how the condition of the ground influences the principles of sowing and reaping. While many recognize the power and potential of seeds, few understand the significance of the ground.Drawing from Mark 4 and Genesis illustrates how everything in creation came from the ground—trees, animals, and humans. The ground, much like a mother's womb, activates and nurtures the seed, leading to a bountiful harvest. The story of Cain and Abel shows how sin affects the ground's ability to yield fruit.Just as natural seeds need good soil to prosper, spiritual seeds require pure hearts to produce supernatural harvests. Spiritual ground determines the quality of the harvest. Keep your heart, which is your spiritual ground—pure and receptive so God's Word can activate the miraculous power of the ground in your life! The Mystery of Seeds - Duane Sheriff Ministries
