I had Gloria Martinez-Granados on the show today. I was fortunate to meet her at Earth Maker Gallery, which is Thomas "Breeze" Marcus's Gallery in Phoenix, and get the chance to talk to her. I was just fascinated with how she makes her art, the intensity she works with, and the time it takes. One of the pieces that she did took over 210 days and it was made of 48,900 individual stitches. As you can imagine it's a very labor intensive undertaking. As interesting as her art is, she is equally interesting. Gloria has this long path that lead her to where she is today. She came over with her parents as an undocumented child at the age of eight. That journey of finding her place in America is fascinating as is how she reflects on being an artist in America. On her journey, Gloria got a nursing degree, and then eventually went back and got an art degree at ASU. Fast forward to today, and she has numerous award and has been a part of major museum shows.I really had a great time on this podcast, and I can always tell when I'm having fun on a podcast when time literally stops. I couldn't have told you if it was 5 minutes or 2 hours. It was a great to listen to her journey and witness her enthusiasm in person. I encourage you to watch it on YouTube if you can, just to see her beautiful smile, because she's there's such a genuineness to her and to her art and the creativity that comes through in her work.I hope you enjoy this podcast as much as I did. This is interdisciplinary artist Gloria Martinez-Granados on Art Dealer Diaries Podcast episode 404.

Ever pride yourself on doing "whatever it takes," yet secretly wonder why you still feel restless, rushed, or on edge? You're not lazy. You're not weak. You just might be avoiding the maturity shift that real leadership requires. In this episode of Coming Up Clutch with J.R.™, J.R. sits down with Life Pulse Founder & CEO Matt Granados for a bold, unfiltered conversation about the hidden fear driving high performers, and the ownership shift that changes everything. This episode challenges the grind culture narrative and exposes the truth behind relentless ambition. It's not about fault. It's about responsibility. In this episode, you'll hear: Why the "whatever it takes" mindset is often fueled by hidden fear, not strength The critical difference between high performance and optimal performance and why most driven leaders burn out chasing the wrong one Why living and processing life one week at a time can completely change your trajectory How emotional suppression masquerades as stability and why unprocessed stress leaks onto the people you love most The maturity shift from blaming fault to owning responsibility and how that single shift brings peace and power Why Jesus never rushed and what that means for high-achieving, faith-driven men today KEY QUOTES "You say you're sacrificing unnecessarily to provide for your family. But when you break it down, you're doing it to feed your ego." - Matt Granados "Jesus didn't run a single step throughout the entire ministry of his life. Grow My Accounting Practice | Tips for Accountants & Bookkeepers to Grow Their Business
Show Summary: In this episode of the Grow My Accounting Practice podcast, Matt Granados challenges a common belief among firm owners: that team issues are people problems. Instead, he reveals how most challenges stem from broken or misaligned systems, not the individuals within them. Matt shares how accounting leaders can redesign their processes to naturally reduce burnout, increase motivation, and create more consistent performance across their teams. He introduces the idea of intentionally engineering workplace culture, rather than leaving it to chance, so it actively supports both growth and well-being. Throughout the conversation, Matt encourages a powerful mindset shift from managing people to improving systems. By doing so, firm owners can unlock greater scalability, stronger team engagement, and more sustainable success. If you are looking for practical leadership strategies to rethink how your firm operates, this episode offers actionable insights on building systems that empower your team and drive long-term results. What if the real problem on your team isn't “people problems,” but the problems your people carry? We sit down with Matt Granados—founder of Life Pulse, author of Motivate the Unmotivated and The Intentional Week—to rethink leadership from the ground up. Matt makes a clear, compelling case for aiming at optimal performance: high output at a sustainable pace compared to yourself. No burnout badge. No hustle theater. Just systems that help humans do their best work without losing themselves. We break down a simple weekly cadence that top teams use to spot issues before they explode. Three questions—What are you focused on? What are you grateful for? What are you working toward?—surface trends, context, and capacity. Matt explains why leaders should listen for patterns over one-off answers, and how kindness (truth with care) beats niceness (comfort without growth). You'll hear the four levels of performance, the pitfalls of managing like a babysitter, and the practical steps to equip rather than enable.• the claim that people don't have people problems, people have problems• what equipping looks like versus enabling• three weekly questions that reveal trends fast• the difference between high and optimal performance• why kindness beats niceness for real growth• using structure and rhythm to prevent burnout• Eagle U's role in early systems thinking• the Take Part Foundation's focus on research, resources, storytelling• daily disciplines to abide and lead with integrityMatt also shares the heart behind the Take Part Foundation, co-founded with his wife Maria after their daughter Natalie was diagnosed with an ultra-rare genetic condition. Their mission—fund research, provide resources like genetic testing, and tell stories—shows what hope looks like in action. It's a masterclass in leading through adversity: build structure, choose obedience over opportunism, and serve people with courage and clarity. If you lead teams, coach leaders, or care about culture, you'll leave with a playbook to boost output without sacrificing well-being. Try the three questions for four weeks and watch the signal emerge. Then act with curiosity, not judgment. What if motivation isn't something people are born with, but something that can be influenced, shaped, and sustained? In this episode, Kevin is joined by Matt Granados to challenge common leadership myths about motivation. Matt reveals a powerful formula for creating sustainable motivation through personal connection, structured systems, and self-awareness. He explores the critical distinction between love-based and fear-based leadership, explains how three simple weekly questions can transform team engagement, and helps leaders identify individual motivation catalysts, including freedom, acknowledgment, connectivity, and support. Matt's Story: Matt Granados is a two-time #1 international bestselling author. His latest book is Motivate the Unmotivated: A Proven System for Sustainable Motivation. He is the founder and CEO of Life Pulse Inc., where he helps organizations fix people problems by solving process problems, once and for all. His Life Pulse Methodology equips leaders and teams to achieve Optimal Performance—the highest sustainable output aligned with human potential. Matt first validated this approach by transforming a Craigslist-hired crew into a $40 million sales team. As I sat yesterday pondering all my friends, family, and compatriots celebrating Thanksgiving, my thoughts turned to the turkey, the traditional sacrificial creature for this event. And whatever the avian counterpart of a rabbit hole is, that's where my thoughts turned as I realized that a tribute to our feathered friends in general would make a nice, lightweight, potpourri episode as we once again hurtle into the final preparations for the holiday season. As my list of possible repertoire exploded, I decided to limit myself only to stage works in which a bird is somehow involved: as a character, as a symbol, as a metaphor, perhaps even as all three simultaneously. So, with composers ranging from Rameau to Sondheim, including such forgotten figures as Walter Braunfels, Victor Massé, and Félicien David, I have put together a wonderful program that focuses particularly but not exclusively on the florid French repertoire, performed by such favorites as Reri Grist, James King, Ileana Cotrubas, Fritz Wunderlich, Sylvia Sass, and Mattiwilda Dobbs, bolstered by such relative newcomers to Countermelody as Léïla Ben Sédira, Ninon Vallin, Janine Micheau, Harolyn Blackwell, Emma Calvé, Endrik Wottrich, Liz Callaway, and Flore Wend. In addition, I am particularly thrilled to present a sublime singer whom I'd not yet encountered before yesterday: the British-Swedish songbird Jacqueline Delman, singing Granados! Countermelody is a podcast devoted to the glory and the power of the human voice raised in song. Singer and vocal aficionado Daniel Gundlach explores great singers of the past and present focusing in particular on those who are less well-remembered today than they should be. Daniel's lifetime in music as a professional countertenor, pianist, vocal coach, voice teacher, and author yields an exciting array of anecdotes, impressions, and “inside stories.” At Countermelody's core is the celebration of great singers of all stripes, their instruments, and the connection they make to the words they sing.

Matt Granados, founder of LifePulse Incorporated and author of "Motivate the Unmotivated," reveals how to replace hustle culture with sustainable workplace success. He shares actionable strategies for employee engagement, optimal performance, workplace culture, and leveraging AI for productivity—without risking burnout. Gain leadership tips for integrating work-life harmony and building high-performing teams that thrive in today's changing business environment. "There's a difference between high performers and optimal performers, right? So a high performer is where everyone used to try to get to, especially in sales. High output, unsustainable pace compared to others. That's like saying I beat a bunch of slow people in a race, so therefore I'm fast. Optimal performance flips the script a little bit—same exact high output, but at a sustainable pace compared to one's own ability. That's the key."
The last of my festive potpourri episodes for this, my birthday month, this episode focuses on a favorite vocal range of this opera queen: the soprano voice, in all its variety and glory. Included are such pristine lyric voices as Erika Köth, Benita Valente (who just departed us last weekend, shortly after celebrating her 91st birthday), Judith Raskin, Judith Blegen, Mattiwilda Dobbs, and Edith Mathis, among others; medium- to heavier-weight lyric voices such as Pilar Lorengar, Delia Rigal, Teresa Stratas, Taru Valjakka, Melitta Muszely, and Margarete Teschemacher; and “ambiguous” voices as Arleen Augér, Martha Flowers, Irmgard Seefried, Andrée Esposito, Jill Gomez (pictured), Faye Robinson, Hilde Güden, and Elizabeth Harwood which could, if you'll pardon the term, “swing both ways,” at least in terms of vocal weight! They perform a wide range of material of material including vocal chamber music by Manuel de Falla and Miriam Gideon; art song by Brahms, Bridge, Poulenc, Beethoven, Bizet, Granados, Sibelius, and Mahler; operetta and musical selections by Arlen, Lehár, Stolz, and Kern; and full-throated operatic selections by Richard Strauss, Jacques Ibert, Leoncavallo, and Meyerbeer. It's another jam-packed episode guaranteed (in a limited sense) to bring you the full-range of listening pleasure. This week, Drewby and Yergy head to Arizona, to discuss the case of Melony Rose Granados, a young girl who lived with her mother, grandmother, and 4 other siblings in a small townhome in Tempe. Melony was born with myoclonic atonic epilepsy and was developmentally delayed. It's said that she had the mental capacity of a 3-year-old. However, when her grandmother, 55-year-old Virginia Lujan couldn't handle Melony's special needs, rather than reach out for help, she allegedly caged her granddaughter... and let her slowly die in her own filth.Support Our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/themiserymachinePayPal: https://www.paypal.me/themiserymachineJoin Our Facebook Group: https://t.co/DeSZIIMgXs?amp=1Instagram: miserymachinepodcastTwitter: misery_podcastDiscord: https://discord.gg/kCCzjZM#themiserymachine #podcast #truecrimeSource Materials:https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laneur/article/PIIS1474-4422(25)00032-8/abstracthttps://www.google.com/search?q=myoclonic+atonic+epilepsy&rlz=1C1VIQF_enUS1084US1084&oq=Myoclonic+atonic+epilepsy&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqBwgAEAAYgAQyBwgAEAAYgAQyBwgBEAAYgAQyBwgCEAAYgAQyCAgDEAAYFhgeMggIBBAAGBYYHjIICAUQABgWGB4yCAgGEAAYFhgeMggIBxAAGBYYHjIICAgQABgWGB4yCAgJEAAYFhge0gEHNDg5ajBqNKgCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8https://disability-memorial.org/melony-granadoshttps://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/grandmother-charged-in-disabled-teen-s-death-after-13-year-old-was-kept-in-a-cage/ar-AA1xRy0Shttps://scallywagandvagabond.com/2025/01/13-year-old-az-girl-kept-in-cage-grandmother-mom-virginia-lujan-jami-hodges-arrested-after-she-dies/?fbclid=IwY2xjawL7HxRleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHi4-tTm-OgLauTMS7kCGwaUTb2kZTLIOyDpvt2QpOUDmm7GhbhhekRrK8WnU_aem_AoheXDqiBgIVeZ-DmFOU2Qhttps://www.google.com/maps/place/E+Carter+Dr+%26+S+Mill+Ave,+Tempe,+AZ+85282/@33.3838971,-111.942326,17.53z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x872b061d59afd5fb:0x1494c8328ce3461!8m2!3d33.3832805!4d-111.9394486!16s%2Fg%2F11f342f7ql?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDczMC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3Dhttps://www.fresnobee.com/news/nation-world/national/article299035885.htmlhttps://www.tempe.gov/Home/Components/News/News/18132/1546https://www.facebook.com/jami1416https://www.facebook.com/jami.hodges.5/https://littlethings.com/lifestyle/grandmother-charged-disabled-teens-death-cage-arizonahttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwWgscF8IYAhttps://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/tempe/2025/01/25/tempe-girl-13-died-grandmother-is-now-a-suspect-here-is-what-we-know/77931211007/https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/tempe/2025/01/25/tempe-girl-13-died-grandmother-is-now-a-suspect-here-is-what-we-know/77931211007/https://www.instagram.com/reel/DFMQ6VuNYkd/https://www.facebook.com/groups/661671761602462/posts/1241884413581191/https://www.tempenews.com/news/tempe-grandmother-indicted-in-caged-teen-s-death/article_13835b46-e5aa-11ef-b858-2f2261e1da4c.htmlhttps://www.yahoo.com/news/grandmother-indicted-granddaughter-found-grossly-130329514.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAND4w6r7_1Viuz5CYtp0yRhiVvdSO82Lz9oWWxvWqKs4iqnUDNzOb9oaSCCCUrj6VUkZjnmlD_KyJ_MTm3msXAEF4dq9thmLcC94PoPJWuNeQ5WV2hWs18ILbDTdAFjD4L3kTVhulCnOQdFlWp301fZa3BRW5dSlwisddwNhuyEihttps://www.ahwatukee.com/news/police-probe-caged-tempe-teen-s-death/article_f51454fc-dd03-11ef-99af-0b87d1eb2efa.htmlhttps://maricopacountyattorney.org/DocumentCenter/View/3682/Virginia-Lujan-Indictmenthttps://maricopacountyattorney.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1161https://www.the-sun.com/news/13372620/disabled-girl-abused-death-forced-live-makeshift-caged-bed/https://www.abc15.com/news/crime/mother-grandmother-arrested-in-connection-to-death-of-13-year-old-girlhttps://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/court-docs-reveal-new-details-deadly-tempe-child-abuse-case-crime-fileshttps://www.azleg.gov/ars/13/03612.htmhttps://maricopacountyattorney.org/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1161
