Join me and High Priestess of the Stars Alicia Freeman for our Cosmic Weather Report: Virgo Season edition. Each month we have a witchy chat about all things zodiac (and teach you how to understand it all in an Earthy, practical magic kinda way.)Virgo season is the mutable Earth sign that signals we are in transition between summer and fall. Where it's time to harvest the bounty of all the seeds that were planted back in the spring. It's the exhale and the settling into the last days of summer, soaking up the sunlight and warmth, and being present with what is here now. On the spiritual path, this time invites you to put special attention to preparation and integration. The spaces in between the journey work and modalities and practices. It's the place where you make room inside yourself so that you actually have time, space, energy, health, wellness, and capacity to hold all these things you've been asking for and working toward. This integrative process is holistic and universal, and not just applicable in your medicine work. What needs integration in your life? Where do you feel fragmented or compartmentalized? Does it feel possible to invite yourself into deeper wholeness? In this episode, learn about what's coming in Virgo Season, the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces, and we have a great talk about soothing your nervous system and how to walk with astrology in your every day life. If you're looking for another terrible movie featuring Ohio, that would be 790: Babes in Toyland (1986). The next and last workplace topic will be Heads of State (2025).
In this episode of Two Strike Noise, Jeff and Mark cover some fresh headlines around the game — including Mariano Rivera going down at Yankees Old-Timers' Day, Jen Pawol breaking barriers behind the plate, and Fernando Rodney still firing arrows in Canada at age 48. The main topic this week is Babe Phelps, one of baseball's many “Babes,” but maybe the quirkiest of the bunch. From hitting .367 as a catcher, to Casey Stengel roasting his pitch-calling, to being nicknamed “The Grounded Blimp” after refusing to fly, Phelps collected as many roommate stories as base hits. Along the way, we meet a young Pee Wee Reese moving hotel furniture in his sleep, Tom Zachary hiding wallets on the floor, and even Babe Ruth bunking with Phelps on the road. The episode wraps up with another round of Wax Pack Heroes, tearing open some cardboard to see which stars and oddballs pop out this week. 00:00 Introduction and Banter 01:13 Upcoming Milestone Episode 01:52 Yankees Old Timers Game 04:21 Jen Powel 08:08 Fernando Rodney's New Chapter 10:52 Baseball Players and Pokemon Cards 13:51 Babe Phelps: The Forgotten Babe 27:36 Wax Pack Heroes 48:16 Final Thoughts and Wrap-Up YouTube - www.youtube.com/@twostrikenoise Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/twostrikenoise Bluesky - @twostrikenoise.bsky.social Facebook -https://www.facebook.com/TwoStrikeNoise/ Instagram - @twostrikenoise E-mail - twostrikenoise@gmail.com We pull ALOT of commons in Wax Pack Heroes. Manasa apologizes for the aforementioned strong opinion in the last episode. Erin has discovered sound effects on the recording platform they use. Get ready for lots of “ballpark!” Magnus learns all about Kvasir and his mead. Hearth and Blitz set off to find the location of Bolverk's whetstone, while Magnus and his friends head towards England. TJ has an insane take about thanking the British. Erin's history minor and liberal arts education comes on strong. Rick is a Civil War guy, unfortunately. Erin also mentions Animorphs twice this episode, and is in peak form. Manasa's set of chapters feel like an entirely different book. They get to York and find a giant to battle, who tells them that Alex needs to create a clay sculpture giant. We get some more background on Alex and her family. We're joined by actress/singer/dancer Ann Jillian who takes us on an extraordinary journey which begins as her parents escape Soviet-Occupied Lithuania and continues into the Hollywood soundstages that launch Ann's career as a child star in Gypsy and Babes in Toyland and then winds towards her adult career as a beloved Hollywood icon.Ann shares the powerful story of her family's flight across war-torn Europe on bicycles, aided by her mother's multilingual savvy, which helped them dodge bullets and bombs and navigate a perilous path to safety. Settling in America was more than a fresh start, it was a dream realized. Ann recalls the deep pride her parents felt the day they became U.S. citizens and she reflects on her show biz beginnings, first in commercials (she was a Chevrolet girl!), then, playing Bo Peep in Babes in Toyland, leading to the stage name bestowed upon her by Mr. Walt Disney! and landing the role of Dainty June in Gypsy, where she gained an even deeper appreciation of her own mother who was NOT a Mama Rose. Ann tells us how education was valued for Disney child stars, she shares her mother's wisdom on dealing with jealousies and she tells us about the treasured momento she received from her dear friend in Natalie Wood. She also discusses her battle with breast cancer, her triumphant return to work, the joy in becoming a mother and the fabulously funny and romantic 'how we met story' featuring herself and her husband of 50 years, Andy. And IMDB Roulette this week takes us on a journey around Mayfield, into the Twilight Zone and through a time when TV movies tackled important social issues. In recommendations --Fritz: Britbox Mini Series, OutrageousWeezy: Netflix Series, Son of a CritchPath Points of Interest:Ann Jillian on WikipediaAnn Jillian on IMDBAnn Jillian on Amazon OutrageousSon of a CritchMedia Path PodcastMedia Path on FacebookMedia Path on InstagramMedia Path on XMedia Path on Bluesky

A wide-ranging study of the rich questions raised by speaking infants in medieval French literature.Medieval literature is full of strange moments when infants (even fetuses) speak. In Out of the Mouths of Babes: Infant Voices in Medieval French Literature, (U Chicago Press, 2025) Julie Singer explores the unsettling questions raised by these events, including What is a person? Is speech fundamental to our humanity? And what does it mean, or what does it matter, to speak truth to power?Singer contends that descriptions of baby talk in medieval French literature are far from trivial. Through treatises, manuals, poetry, and devotional texts, Singer charts how writers imagined infants to speak with an authority untainted by human experience. What their children say, then, offers unique insight into medieval hopes for universal answers to life's deepest wonderings. Learn more about your ad choices. Romans 8:32, "He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all--how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?" This glorious promise carries us from Calvary's crimson hill, to the spacious plains of God's boundless provision. The Father, having offered His beloved Son as a substitutionary sacrifice for His people, thereby demonstrated that every cost of our redemption was borne in full. If the Sovereign of Heaven did not count the anguish of Golgotha too great to spare His only-begotten Son, then will He now withhold from us any good thing? Never! The gift of Christ for our salvation, secures every lesser gift. As we behold the infinite compassion manifested in the cross, we trust that such love will daily supply our every need. If God did not spare His beloved Son for us, then He will withhold no needful blessing from those for whom Jesus died. If God has given you Jesus, then He has engaged all the riches of Heaven for your good. He who gave the greater, will not deny the lesser. If God feeds His birds, then surely He will not starve His babes. Free pardon and full forgiveness, grace along the way, and glory at the end--all this our Savior has promised to give. Believer, when fear whispers that your burdens exceed your Father's care, return to Calvary. There you see the height of His giving--and there you find the answer to your every need. Rather than sinking under anxiety, let faith boldly think: "Will my God, who gave His darling Son for my salvation--refuse to give me daily bread, comfort in sorrow, or needed strength? No trial can outstrip His upholding grace; no Scriptural request can exceed His generosity. Heavenly Father,
