Today's guest is Jessica Speiser, a member of LASD's School Board since 2016. This past calendar year, she served as the Board's president. In today's episode, we start by talking about Jessica's background and her life's journey that led her to serving on the board (0:38). We then dig into the function and the mechanics of our school board and how district wide policies and decisions get made (13:20) , and finally, we learn a little about what is right around the corner in LASD, including the process for the North of El Camino "10th Site" and a long term facilities plan (31:40), and the potential transition to a 6-8 middle school model (44:51).
