Difficult relationships have losses. The healthy way to process loss is to work through the grief process. One of those stages is bargaining. As many as 87 former corporators of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are said to have joined Shinde-led Shiv Sena, most are from UBT faction, followed by Congress and NCP (SP).
Robert Mnookin has spent his career exploring exactly this conundrum: the ways interpersonal, and geopolitical, disagreements unfold — and how to handle really difficult disagreements mindfully and rationally rather than emotionally and thoughtlessly. He is the Samuel Williston Professor of Law, Emeritus at Harvard Law School – and he is the author and/or editor of at 10 books, including “Bargaining with the Devil: When to Negotiate, When to Fight” which was published in 2010. It offers practical advice on addressing tough conflicts analytically through examples that range from siblings fighting over an inheritance, to Winston Churchill's decision to refuse to negotiate with Adolph Hitler.

Send us a textDo you contemplate topics like climate change, biodiversity loss, and the risk of civilizational collapse? If so, then you probably understand something about bargaining – a psychological defense mechanism that's one of the five stages of grief. With just a wee bit of embarrassment, Asher, Jason, and Rob reveal damning episodes of bargaining from their personal histories (involving green consumerism and cult-like devotion to technology). Having admitted their sins, they discuss the allure of false solutions to our environmental predicaments and how even veteran environmental journalists can be susceptible to it. Stay to the end for thoughts on how to avoid getting hoodwinked by the horde of ecomodernist tech bros who continuously shove unworkable "solutions" down our throats. We have an election. You have your ballots in the mail, and I encourage you to vote and mail it in. I and others running are counting on you! Feb 27 is the deadline for being at the box office. If you miss it, you can come to the hall to vote. Also what is going on with Local 829? Medicine Hat News says they are under administration just prior to voting on a deal... very interesting since getting a deal to vote on is not a reason to be put under adminstration.
Wouldn't you love to be seen as an authority figure, a respected expert professional who always has a list of prospects ready to pay the prices that you charge? This is one of the most common things that we hear from people who join our program, No BS Agency Mastery. When people don't view you as the expert that you are, you run into all kinds of trouble running your business. Bargaining with people who can't or don't want to pay what you charge. Clients questioning and pushing back on your work, making projects take twice as long. And struggling to close clients in the first place. It can be incredibly demoralizing and frustrating. When you think of authority, you might envision someone with a large platform, people with books, speaking engagements, podcasts, tons of followers online. But you don't have to wait until you've built an authority machine out in the world to get the respect–and the pay–that your expertise deserves. This month, I'll be sharing strategies that you can implement right now to start building your authority and ability to command the prices you want and run projects that don't go out of scope and drain your energy and profit.Tune into this episode to hear:How the traditional proposal process undermines your authority with clientsHow the lead product strategy transforms how clients view and value your work—before they hire you.How I turned a $2,000 logo request into a $20,000 rebranding project by showing up as the expert.Resources:No BS Agencies MasteryThe Price to Freedom Calculator™No BS LaunchpadNo BS Agency Owners Free Facebook GroupStart reading the first chapter of my bookPiasilva.com

Grief is a deeply personal and often messy journey—one that isn't confined to the loss of a loved one. It can stem from the end of a relationship, career changes, health challenges, or even letting go of a version of ourselves. And with everything happening currently in the world, aren't we all just living with grief at this point?? In this episode, we deep dive into the 7 Stages of Grief and take a real and honest look at how they may show up in any of our lives. While grief is unique to each individual, the common “stages” most of us find ourselves moving through draw from Elisabeth Kübler-Ross's groundbreaking work, On Death and Dying, which introduced the now-famous “Stages of Grief.” These stages, though insightful, have been both widely taught and criticized over the years- I'll spill the tea on what her critics say too! We'll talk through the expanded “7 stages of grief”—Shock, Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Testing, and Acceptance—highlighting their value as a flexible framework rather than a strict GPS roadmap.Even though grief can be a challenging subject to talk about, it happens to be one of the things that connects us as human beings. A common thread of our human experience. It is one of those threads of shared humanity that connects us all. Show notes:Sources: “Stages of Grief”: Attributed to: Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. in her 1969 book, On Death and Dying.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK507885/https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/0030222817691870https://www.health.com/stages-of-grief-7482658

We've all said things like: ‘God, if YOU will….I promise I will….' ‘God, if YOU will…. I'll NEVER…' Bargaining with God always rests on two ASSUMPTIONS: God knows YOU exist. You have something God WANTS. God doesn't want something FROM you. God wants something FOR you. The word we use to encapsulate this idea is […]

In this terrific episode, Terri Petersen interviews someone that we guess many of you know: David Hayward, known best online as “The Naked Pastor.” David is an artist, blogger, leader of a community called “The Lasting Supper,” and has many books that are collections of his thoughts and cartoons. During their conversation, we are privileged to get an overview of David's faith journey, his decision to leave formal ministry and step into his current roles, and the focus of his spirituality now. The bulk of the discussion focuses on faith “deconstruction,” framing it in terms of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross's stages of dying (and grief), 1) Denial; 2) Anger; 3) Bargaining; 4) Depression; and 5) Acceptance. A brief but very interesting segment also draws parallels between a faith crash and people being confronted with their addiction. When we first sense we must deal with it, we will stiffen up, get defensive, hold on with all we have, come up with excuses, etc. before finally yielding to the fact that we thought we had our faith and/or religious life together but really didn't. Listen in! You'll really enjoy it!

In this episode of Inside IR, Natalie Gaspar and Adam Ray discuss the impact of generative AI on industrial relations and bargaining. They explore how AI technologies, particularly generative AI, are transforming workplaces by performing tasks that typically require human input, such as content creation and decision-making. The episode delves into the responses from Australian unions, including the ACTU's formal policy on AI, which emphasises the need for genuine consultation, transparency, and clearly defined responsibilities and liability. They also discuss the potential for AI to enhance job efficiency and the importance of training employees to use these technologies effectively. The conversation highlights the evolving landscape of industrial relations in the face of rapid technological advancements, the implications for job security and workplace management, and how AI-related claims might be approached in bargaining.

Hostage diplomacy is an ugly game. For decades America's adversaries have imprisoned US citizens in an effort to leverage diplomatic, economic or military advantage. These cases range from exaggerated charges, to disproportionate penalties, to outright lies. Each case is different. And each case affects both the lives of the incarcerated, their families and ultimately American power. Jose Pereira was held prisoner by the Venezuelan government for five years. He was the CEO of Citgo and after a Thanksgiving Day meeting in Caracas, he and five other Citgo executives were arrested and charged with bribery, corruption and other false charges. They became known as the Citgo 6. Jose joined Fran Racioppi to share the story of his captivity, his year long solitary detention in the Submarine, starvation, sickness, sham trials, and his time in a coma. Jose talks about his mental battles with depression and suicidal ideation.Like all great leaders, Jose sought solutions using the buckets his food was delivered in as a clandestine courier service to exchange letters with his wife. Liberal Tears - Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance. The most passionate Democrats are going through these stages right now. Human behavior is so predictable that we can actually see those stages of emotion in headlines. Trump Effect in CA - Trump, whose position on education has focused more on cultural ideology than on policies to improve education, has threatened to cut school funding to states, such as California, with policies that protect transgender students and promote diversity, equity and inclusion in their schools. He also has pledged to deport undocumented immigrants en masse, a move that would impact millions of California families and their children. Winners and Losers - How about a quick check on some of the obvious and not so obvious winners and losers from the election. What's Next? - Her friends, aides and political allies say it's too soon for her to even contemplate her next career move. But the speculation has already begun.

This stage usually involves feelings of guilt, whether or not those feelings are well founded. A frequent thought in this stage is the "if only" statement: "If only I would have done THIS, then THAT would have never happened," etc. Bargaining can last a while as we sort through our emotions. It can also be fleeting thoughts that come and go as we begin to process our child's diagnosis. Moving in and out of bargaining quickly or being in this stage while simultaneously in another is common. We can think of bargaining as our mind trying to restore or find our way back to the way things were before diagnosis. Knowing that can help us identify when we are stuck in these thoughts and hopefully propel us toward acceptance and progress. Instagram: @momstalkautism Email: hello@momstalkautism.com

Last year was the hottest in recorded history, and this summer, much of the United States has already experienced record-shattering heat waves. That leaves millions of workers risking their health and possibly even their lives while on the job. And the danger is not limited to those who work outdoors. Warehouses, restaurants, and other indoor spaces are heating up. Most jobs lack heat protection from the federal or state government, but the same groups that brought us the 40-hour work week, child labor laws, and the weekend are now fighting for new worker protections. Unions across the country — from Texas UPS drivers to the Chicago Teachers Union — are negotiating to keep their workers protected from the effects of the climate crisis.
