Welcome to Wayfinding with Tilly & Audrey, a podcast documenting our navigation through life as young women. We’ll be opening up a dialogue about the obstacles that arise throughout our respective lives. With each episode, we hope to find validation with each other, and encourage our listeners to live with confidence and conviction. We hope you’ll join us as we attempt to figure out what matters to us, what bothers us, and what makes us hopeful for the future.
In this episode, we are talking about spaces of belonging. We'll cover some of the ways that we create belonging for ourselves and for others, and the kind of physical and emotional labor this process requires.
We are back with the first episode of our second season! Today, we are tackling the topic of friendship: what goes into a good friendship, how we navigate friendship as introverts, and how we take care of ourselves when a friendship feels overwhelming. As we approach final exams and the end of the first semester of our senior year of college, we're taking this opportunity to reflect on what we struggled with these past few months and what we hope for both ourselves and for each other next semester. We also discuss what it's like to feel stuck—both in our heads and on our college campus—and we cover some strategies for breaking free from these limitations.
In this episode, we are sharing our sports stories: how we got into our sport, why we fell in love with it, and why we ultimately left it for good. Then, we'll be talking about our current day relationships with exercise as it relates to both physical and mental health. This week, we are continuing our critique of the media by focusing specifically on popular music and the misogyny that's all too prevalent in the industry. Through this close examination, we hope to better understand the barriers that female artists face and become more conscious of the culture we're consuming. Today, we are discussing how children's media corporations condition young people to internalize destructive gender stereotypes. We'll first focus on traditional Disney princesses, but then we'll also be taking a look at modern day Disney, like the live action movies and shows found on Disney channel. In this deep dive, we hope to answer some questions about how the media can shape our perceptions of ourselves and the world around us.
