On Prophecy Radio episode #142, Karen and Kristen dissect the latest Percy Jackson and the Olympians news, plus the release of The Court of the Dead by Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro. They also discuss The Red Pyramid chapters 37 and 38, including their favorite moments and what they think will happen next. New episodes of Prophecy Radio air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. News and Updates (00:10:37) The Court of the Dead by Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro is officially out in the world! Did you get any of the special editions? (We definitely did.) Did you see the pictures and videos of Rick signing books and Funkos? Leah turned 16 last month! Do these Percy Jackson and the Olympians behind-the-scenes clips mean we'll be getting another BTS documentary?? We go through a slightly older Entertainment Weekly article to discuss the next Senior Year Adventures book. When can we expect the third and final Senior Year book to come out? Rick is strictly a middle grade author, and we're cool with that. What other gods would make for good series fodder a la Trials of Apollo? Other character-centric books are still on the table, and boy do we want them! The Red Pyramid discussion (00:29:14) All right, let's refresh our brains on what happened last time. Good. Now we can jump into The Red Pyramid chapter 37. Why does Set keep flickering between forms? We've really come around on Amos since we learned the truth. Set is SO sassy, and we're kind of here for it. Horus still wants to take over Carter's body, and Carter is still telling him no. Uh, where the heck is Nephthys? Sadie protecc. Thank goodness Carter figures out what Zia meant when she told him not to resist. Carter turns into a total badass! Favorite lines and favorite scenes. All right, time to jump into The Red Pyramid chapter 38. Carter having fun fighting and beating up on Set is slightly concerning. Why do they BOTH bleed black? They're about to bring down the house, so Carter tricks Set into becoming a fruit bat and then drags him outside the pyramid. Will Sadie be able to free their dad from the throne and his sarcophagus? We kind of already knew how to defeat Set, but he really lays it out for Carter. Did we feel bad about what happened to Desjardins? We totally did not expect Set to put the capstone on top of the pyramid. Sadie is a freaking rainbow, y'all! What name could Sadie have shouted? We wanted to read the next chapter SO BAD! But we discuss our favorite lines and favorite moments instead. Feedback (01:09:31) Ensign_Davies and Maria write in to tell us what they think of The Court of the Dead. Caoimhe is super excited about Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, and she let's us know one of our previous episodes was missing links. That's all fixed now! Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 143, where we'll discuss The Red Pyramid chapters 39 and 40, as well as get you up to date on more Percy Jackson and Rick Riordan news. In this episode, Nadia and Alyssa kick off Nadia's senior year of college with an in-depth discussion about the excitement and anxieties that come with being a fourth-year student. The conversation begins with Nadia explaining her summer dialogue experience in Spain, where she completed her Spanish minor through a 5-week study abroad program. She reflects on how the change of pace was refreshing but also made her appreciate the structure of being back on campus. The discussion then shifts to Nadia's current activities and commitments, including her new job at Greystone cafe, her final year of gymnastics as social chair, and the upcoming co-op application process. This leads into a deeper conversation about her top three worries as a senior: choosing the right co-op (clinical vs. non-clinical), managing her tendency to overcommit herself, and the general anxiety of not knowing if she's making the right choices.Nadia and Alyssa explore the concept of creating your own path rather than following a predetermined track, using the metaphor of different routes from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The episode concludes with discussions about future living arrangements and plans to bring guests onto the podcast to help navigate senior year decisions.TakeawaysSenior year brings a unique mix of excitement for new opportunities and anxiety about making the "right" choices for the future.Study abroad experiences like Northeastern's dialogue program can provide valuable perspective and help students appreciate their home campus structure. The pressure to choose between clinical and non-clinical co-ops reflects the broader challenge of figuring out career direction without having to commit permanently. Many students struggle with overcommitting themselves when they have free time, leading to a cycle of self-judgment and overwhelm. There's no single "right" path after college - like choosing different routes between cities, each path offers unique experiences and learning opportunities.Taking a gap year after graduation is becoming more common and can be a strategic choice rather than a delay.Living arrangements during extended college programs (4.5 years) present unique challenges, especially when considering expensive cities like Boston, New York, or San Francisco.Chapters0:10-1:01 - Welcome Back and Senior Year Introduction1:02-3:04 - Spain Dialogue Experience and Summer Reflection3:05-4:09 - Current Activities: Job, Gymnastics, and Co-op Applications4:10-5:55 - Existential Crisis and Post-Graduation Anxiety5:56-7:57 - Worry #1: Co-op Selection and Career Direction8:08-9:19 - Worry #2: Overcommitment and Time Management9:20-12:22 - Worry #3: General Anxiety and Creating Your Own Path12:23-14:46 - Living Arrangements and Housing Challenges14:47-16:18 - Future Podcast Plans and Guest Ideas

The conversation goes deeper than the game, as Fogle reflects on how a broken wrist during last year’s playoffs pushed him to mature in the offseason. Welcoming 2025 in basically March... but HAPPY NEW YEAR anyway as I haven't recorded since last year and wanted to share how I celebrated in Pakistan and Malaysia. After a quick reflection on my trip, I share how much perspective it gave me as I came back to my college routine. The two main pressures I talked about in my last semester of college are post-college plan (JOB) and marriage which is a conversation my parents sprung on me. I discuss quite a bit on Pakistani American marriage and my opinions on finding my person, but I'm also curious to know what my fellow Desi Americans feel about this. A quick side step to how my cut is going, losing weight and going to the gym. Also, RAMADAN MUBARAK I hope this time brings lots of peace to everyone celebrating. Welcome back to TMT :) ENJOY

Now that we've reached the spring of 2025, it's time to review the best ways to finish out with a high school senior. Even the most dedicated "Feeding The Mouth..." parent can struggle with these last months of their kid's adolescent life. Today we talk about how a parent can be most effective in helping a high school senior with preparation for college, trade school or whatever path their young adult child will taking after high school. Being effective means clearly and continually announcing the freedoms your senior has and using that as a basis for open and regular communication about upcoming challenges. We talk about complicating factors like cell phone tracking, setting up doctor appointments and more. On average, they will work 82,000 if they work after graduation until age 65 making career alignment critical to thrive in lifeIt is never too late to work on career development and advising, but there is an ideal time to start. Starting early is for the best.; If your teen has already hit Sophomore year, it is go time!Instead of looking at your teen as difficult or unmotivated, step back and ask if they are overwhelmed and need more support. Your teen would likely rather hear advice from someone other than you, such as a coach, teacher, or mentor. There are a lot of misconceptions and job fields that teens are unaware of, so it is important to research and explore.  “Career development is not a one-and-done. It's really important that we take two views of this. It's a long game - a marathon, not a sprint.
