This month Charlotte goes birch tree tapping with Alice Bettany and chums, we hear all things butterfly and moth with Neil Hulme and we head down to the Earth Day beach clean held by Pier 2 Pier.
the 2018 Oxford Real Farming Conference last month featured a panel on growing and selling herbs in the UK. It addressed a real need for suppliers of good quality Uk-grown herbs. In this Short, Abby Rosie spoke to Alice Bettany from the Sacred Seeds Herbal project, who was a participant in the panel. She runs a herb box-scheme based on a CSA model which is currently the only herbal box scheme in the UK. Alice talks to us about her work and her mission to bring back herbal medicine to the people. This short begins with a beautiful description of her own garden, topped to the brim with Medicinal herbs. Other panellists from the ORFC2018 panel on herbs can be heard in episode 31 of Farmerama. Charlotte Petts takes a look back at the year that was on Growing Wild and revisits a few of the folk who've featured this year. Including natural navigator Tristan Gooley, herbalist Alice Bettany, wild swimmer and photographer Vivienne Rickman-Poole and many more.
In this episode I talk to Alice Bettany about Catnip (Nepeta cataria) a herb which is often associated with children as it is so gentle. But gentle doesn't mean it isn't effective! We're so used to hitting things with a sledge hammer now a days we've lost respect for the gentle things in life. We also talked about she sheds and the comfort of a big bosom.. as you do.
