David's feeling a little off today and thinks he might be getting some tummy trouble. So Joe takes the conversational lead and tells him about wanting to be liked by people, inspired by seeing his gym instructor getting a nice compliment from a customer. Then David has an idea to tell Joe about his Inspector Lindley audition, in as much detail as possible. The only problem is, Joe reckons David's told that story on the pod plenty of times before. But he kicks off regardless, before quickly being completely sidetracked talking about the nasty old couple he gardened for at the time and the girl he really fancied when he was 12, who lived in the same area. Host Doug Stephan and Dr. Ken Kronhaus of Lake Cardiology (352-735-1400) cover a number of topics affecting our health. First up, Doug and Dr. Ken discuss the biggest news stories in the medical world, starting with a focus on handling the excessive summertime heat and how to combat heat exhaustion and heat stroke with prevention — like staying hydrated (which sounds easier than done), wearing a hat, minimize sun exposure during the hottest part of the day (usually around 9/10 AM - 3 PM), and being aware of symptoms of heat-related illness.Summertime heat also brings stronger UV levels, and Dr. Ken shares his thoughts on wearing sunscreen, why it's important to use in order to avoid sunburn — which is what can lead to skin cancer — and a dermatologist-recommended sunscreen is the best kind of sunscreen. Plus, a hot new item that is sun-protective clothing that blocks out harmful UV rays.Next up, a caveat to the health benefits of drinking a cup or two of coffee every day may help you live longer but only if there aren't any creams or sugar added — black coffee is the only way to get the health benefits of coffee.Moving on, new information suggests some risk factors for lower back pain as we get older can be modifiable with fighting obesity, not smoking, getting rid of mental stress, lifting weights properly, and increasing the length of time and intensity of which you walk.We know about the concussion danger of football, but did you know soccer is a sport that can lead to brain injuries as well. A new study looks at the risk of using the head instead of the feet (headers), and that MRI scans found evidence that heading the ball alters chemistry and nerve function in the brain and causes slightly elevated levels of protein that have been associated with brain injury.Plus, Doug and Dr. Ken addresses fighting against muscle loss. Unfortunately, when it comes to weight loss drugs, a good amount of the weight coming off is from muscle, not strictly fat. However, there is an experimental drug to help people taking semaglutide keep their muscle while losing weight.Lastly, Dr. Ken answers listener questions. First one has to do with poop. Does regularity matter, and if it's in the morning, what is happening in your body overnight that causes some to have a bowel movement the first thing in the morning. Dr. Ken shares that while people should pay attention to their habits, he also encourages all of us to not overthink it. Constipation is typically a bigger issue than the time of day someone is having a bowel movement. If you're wondering — once a day is a good daily rate to move your bowels, and make sure you're getting enough water and staying hydrated.Next question is about vitamin D deficiency, asking what symptoms for which to look, and the best ways to get vitamin D. Webstie: GoodDayHealthShow.comSocial Media: @GoodDayNetworks

In this week's episode of Sense by Meg Faure, we launch our brand new "Feeding Sense" segment! Paediatric dietician Kath Megaw takes over as guest host. She is joined by Nicole Comninellis, a paediatric physiotherapist. Nicole has a special interest in neurodevelopment and infant digestion. Together, they tackle one of parenting's most common challenges: constipation in babies and toddlers. Understanding Constipation from a Physio's Perspective Kath Megaw introduces the topic, noting that dietary advice alone doesn't always solve constipation. Nicole Comninellis explains how constipation presents differently depending on age. Factors include whether it's a new or chronic issue, and if the child was full-term or preterm. Nicole highlights that repeated stress can create negative neurological pathways. This makes constipation more likely to recur. The Mind-Body Connection in Constipation Nicole explains that stress triggers the "fight or flight" response which inhibits digestion. Helping infants feel safe and calm is key. This allows them to develop a positive internal sense (interoception) of their bodies. For toddlers, autonomy, sensory processing, and personality play a big role. New experiences like starting school or a new sibling can also cause withholding.Practical Strategies for Preventing and Managing Constipation Kath and Nicole discuss actionable tips for parents. For Infants: Understanding normal poo variations is important. Varied holding positions and allowing free movement are crucial. Responding to baby's cues when they need to poo, perhaps by picking them up to let gravity assist, can make a difference. For Toddlers: Beyond a balanced diet and hydration, establishing routines around natural body reflexes (like the urge to poo after meals) is helpful. Encourage chewing as this stimulates the gut. Ample movement, play, and exercise are vital. Tummy massage can aid motility and provide comfort. Creating a safe, supportive, and calm bathroom environment is essential. Positioning: For toddlers using a potty or toilet, ensuring their feet are supported and knees are above their hips is very important. Teaching children to relax rather than just push can also be beneficial. Why You Should Listen This "Feeding Sense" episode offers a holistic view of constipation. Kath Megaw and Nicole Comninellis provide expert insights. They explain that movement, posture, and emotional well-being are as vital as diet. The episode is packed with practical, compassionate strategies. These can help prevent constipation from becoming a chronic issue. It's about making pooing a positive, stress-free experience for your child.Kath Megaw is a leading paediatric dietician with over 20 years of experience in infant and child nutrition. If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if Charles Bronson had to hunt a werewolf and decided to play detective instead of hanging from Torino’s rooftops, “12 to Midnight” is here to answer that question with all the subtlety of a silver bullet to the jaw. Robert Bronzi leans so hard into his Charles Bronson impersonation you half expect him to growl “Don’t pull that stunt on me, pal” at every suspect. His trademark scowl is in full force, but the script seems to recognize that Bronzi can’t quite nail the dialogue—so he just stands there, arms crossed, delivering each line in unintelligible monosyllables until everyone else on screen tries and fails to fill in the blanks. It’s stoicism by requirement, and Bronzi owns it. Plot coherence? Forget it. “12 to Midnight” is a glorious fever dream of mismatched clues, midnight stakeouts that last five minutes, and villains who apparently transform more for the camera than for the storyline. Somehow, this budget brawler doubles as a werewolf vs. detective flick: one moment Bronzi’s trench-coated gumshoe is dusting for prints, the next he’s running down bad guys in a front-end loader. It’s utterly nonsensical—and that’s exactly the point.   But oh, the cheesy goodness from the effects department! Clunky prosthetics that wobble when the werewolf snarls, practical blood squibs that spray like party poppers, $1 store eyeballs and an epic moonlit finale complete with teleporting characters and poorly timed howls. If you’re in it for goofy action set pieces and unintentional laughs, “12 to Midnight” delivers a full-throated howl. This is cult cinema at its best—so bad it’s howling good fun.

Send us a textDog owners, we've all been there – the dreaded "poonami" that strikes without warning, often in the middle of the night. That's exactly what prompted this candid conversation about canine digestive health after Lauren's co-host Linda spent a night up every 90 minutes with her tiny puppy Bobble. This practical guide walks you through what to do when digestive disaster strikes. We share our emergency protocol using products like Rescue-K9 Rapid Support and demonstrate exactly how to administer it to reluctant dogs (hint: hold their chin up after placing the paste in their cheek pocket). You'll learn to distinguish between situations requiring veterinary care versus those you can handle at home, focusing on your dog's overall demeanor and energy as key indicators.Beyond emergency care, we reveal our daily routines for building resilient gut health through consistent probiotic supplementation. Discover why "naughty but nice" dogs particularly benefit from gut support, how stress impacts digestive function, and the powerful role of fermented foods like kefir and apple cider vinegar with "mother." We even share our first-hand experiences with explosive clean-ups and how proper preparation prevents these situations from becoming full-blown crises.Whether you're currently dealing with a digestive emergency or wanting to prevent future ones, this episode gives you actionable strategies backed by our years of experience. Abby Johnson shares how a series of small compromises, over several years, almost derailed her life. As a teenager, Abby sought the attention of men, which resulted in her first pregnancy and abortion. Believing that Planned Parenthood helped poor women get real health care, she became a model employee of her local center, until she witnessed an ultrasound-guided abortion. She was devastated. Abby encourages her audience to be counter-cultural and boldly fight for the lives of pre-born children. Your gift to support our Option Ultrasound program will equip pregnancy medical clinics across the country with ultrasound machines, resources, and sonography training for nurses, so that a mother considering abortion can see her baby, hear that tiny heartbeat . . . and be moved to choose life.
