As a result, she missed the usual social milestones of dances, dating, and boyfriends. In her twenties, she began to meet men online and became involved in masochistic behavior.Lonely and emotionally immature, Elaine was exceedingly vulnerable to online predators. In August of 2012, Elaine disappeared after a visit with her family. Investigators assumed she had committed suicide by jumping off nearby cliffs. But disturbing texts found on recovered cell phones later revealed that Elaine had been involved with a dangerous man. Join us at the quiet end for Groomed for Murder. Childcare worker Elaine O’Hara, was last seen alive in Shanganagh Park, Dublin on 22 August 2012. Her family came to terms with the fact that she had most likely ended her own life. Then, one year late, her remains were discovered at Killakee Mountain, south of Dublin. The investigation into her murder revealed a life of secrets and betrayal. The case blew up in the media, as the story of one of the most shocking crimes in Irish history unfolded. All eyes will be on Waterford Monday for a sitting of the Supreme Court where it will give its decision in the State’s appeal over a key phone data ruling. The result could assist Graham Dwyer in seeking to overturn his conviction for the murder of childcare worker Elaine O’Hara whose body was found in the Dublin Mountains in 2013.  It could also have implications extending beyond Dwyer’s case, so to talk us through it all Susan was joined by assistant lecturer in the Law School in NUI Maynooth Roisin Costello.

Elaine O’Hara was a troubled woman who disappeared from her Dublin home in 2012 and was presumed to have committed suicide. A year later, due to a series of coincidences, her body was found and a man with an appetite for the twisted, but the appearance of a nice middle class family man was charged with her murder.
