Forget what you think you know about religion in America. The latest research from Pew reveals a story that's more complex—and more hopeful—than the headlines suggest. Corey sits down with Gregory A. Smith, who's spent over two decades studying how faith and identity shape American public life. In this no-fluff conversation, Greg unpacks the surprising stabilization of religious affiliation, the myths about Gen Z's spiritual life, and how a well-worded survey can teach us more than a pundit ever could. They also explore the emotional courage it takes to study religion without evangelizing it—and why 80% of Christians say you don't have to agree about Trump to be a “good Christian.”

As the CEO of Art Basel, Noah Horowitz has made it his mission to ensure that the international art platform is seen, valued, and experienced—far beyond its art-fair roots—as a cultural catalyst and “opportunity accelerator.” Over the past 55 years, beginning with its tight-knit origins in Basel, Switzerland, in 1970, Art Basel has evolved into an international juggernaut, with best-in-class fairs also in Miami Beach, Hong Kong, and Paris—and soon, under Horowitz's leadership, Qatar, with an edition debuting there in February 2026. With more than two decades of experience, and as a tireless advocate and enthusiast for all things art, from artists and galleries to collectors and institutions, Horowitz is exactly the right person for the job.On this episode of Time Sensitive, Horowitz details his ambitious agenda to stretch Art Basel's reach into realms far beyond what would traditionally be considered the art world; shares his long-view perspective on the economics of art; and considers the centuries-old history that, in a roundabout way, helped lead to—and continues to inform and shape—today's art market.Show notes: [05:13] Art Basel Paris[05:13] Art Basel Qatar[05:13] Art Basel Miami Beach[05:13] Art Basel Hong Kong[07:54] Frida Escobedo[10:41] The Art Basel and UBS 2025 Survey of Global Collecting[10:41] Art Basel Awards[21:27] Rei Naito[23:51] Art of the Deal: Contemporary Art in a Global Financial Market (2011)[27:42] Rirkrit Tiravanija[41:18] High Art Lite: The Rise and Fall of Young British Art (2020)[32:42] KAWS[39:04] Princeton Record Exchange[42:18] Frieze[42:52] Hans Ulrich Obrist[42:52] Okwui Enwezor[45:00] Rem Koolhaas[45:57] Kirk Varnedoe[45:57] Pictures of Nothing: Abstract Art Since Pollock (2006)[50:05] Talking Prices: Symbolic Meanings of Prices on the Market for Contemporary Art (2005)[51:49] Clare McAndrew[54:42] The Experience Economy (2019)[58:43] Vincenzo de Bellis[1:03:04] Pérez Art Museum
Scott Smith: Building a Coaching Service Where Survey Scores Become Living Improvement Read the full Show Notes and search through the world's largest audio library on Agile and Scrum directly on the Scrum Master Toolbox Podcast website: http://bit.ly/SMTP_ShowNotes. "Success is about feedback from coaching clients." - Scott Smith Scott is tackling one of the most challenging aspects of organizational transformation: turning annual survey results into continuous improvement. Working with a domain of about 30 people, Scott is exploring how to create a coaching service that doesn't just react to once-a-year data but actively drives ongoing growth. The typical pattern in many organizations is familiar—conduct an annual survey, review the scores, maybe have a few discussions, and then wait another year. Scott is experimenting with a different approach. He's setting up a coaching service that focuses on real-time feedback from the people being coached, making improvement a living practice rather than an annual event. The strategy starts with a pilot, testing the concept before scaling across the entire domain. Scott's measure of success is pragmatic and human-centered: feedback from coaching clients. Not abstract metrics or theoretical frameworks, but whether the people receiving coaching find value in what's being offered. This approach reflects a fundamental principle of Agile coaching—start small, experiment, gather feedback, and iterate based on what actually works for the people involved. Scott is building improvement infrastructure that puts continuous learning at the center, transforming how organizations think about growth from an annual checkbox into an ongoing conversation. Self-reflection Question: If you were to implement a coaching service in your organization, how would you measure its success beyond traditional survey scores? Our annual Travel Industry Survey of travel agency business is live, and we're taking an in-depth look at some of the results with editor in chief Arnie Weissmann and news editor Johanna Jainchill. In this episode we delve into survey data: Advisors’ use of AI – how they use it and what they’re concerned about; which travel categories are growing; advisors’ use of social media; their relationships with preferred suppliers; where they work; and what they’re booking. And, of course, whether they’re optimistic or pessimistic about their business going forward. This survey was produced in partnership with Phocuswright, a sister brand to Travel Weekly. It surveyed more than 1,500 advisors during August and early September and was published Nov. 23. This conversation took place Nov. 23 and has been edited for length and clarity. You're sitting around waiting for your shot. Someone else is losing sleep because they can't find you. They have a problem only you can solve. A gap only you can fill. But they don't know you exist yet. My mother-in-law taught me this years ago and it changed everything about how I approach opportunity. She didn't let me sit around hoping things would work out. She kicked my butt and told me the truth. Somebody needs what you have to offer right now. Your only job? Go find them. Featured Story I walked into my boss's office at the radio station and quit. I'd been working production, making commercials in the back room. Not my thing. I knew podcasting was coming and I had to get out. He asked me how I could just walk away from security, benefits, vacation time. How could I be so sure something better was waiting? I told him what my mother-in-law taught me. Between that radio station and my house, about 15 miles, somebody was sitting in their office right then with a problem. They were saying, "If I could just find someone to fix this for me." They were losing sleep because they didn't know I existed. My job was to go find them. Important Points Someone right now needs exactly what you have to offer but they're stuck because they don't know you exist yet. Waiting around hoping things work out is the opposite of understanding that people are actively looking for you to solve their problem. Your job isn't to hope or pray for opportunity but to go find the people who need you and let them know you're here. Memorable Quotes "Somebody out there needs what you have to offer. They don't even know you exist. So get out there and let them know you exist." "There is somebody right now in a business that has a problem. They're losing sleep because they don't know you exist." "When I want to grow my business, I just reach out to find people who need me and boy, they're out there." Scott's Three-Step Approach Stop waiting for someone else to lift your dreams or hoping opportunity finds you while you sit at home. Shift your mindset from "I hope this works out" to understanding that someone is actively looking for what you offer. Go find the people who need you by getting out there, banging on doors, talking to people, and making yourself known. They describe a government forced online by warfare and displacement, assessing whether its services genuinely meet citizens' needs through a “socio-technical framework” that weighs technology against inclusivity, language, and security. Myat Su Thwe explains that ministries of Health, Education, and Finance deliver essential services through tele-medicine, online schooling, and blockchain-based finance. Tele-Gemar connects volunteer doctors abroad with ethnic-minority patients via local interpreters; digital schools issue the Basic Education Completion Assessment; and the Spring Development Bank and Aung Pay wallet allow secure, anonymous transactions outside junta control. Kyaw Lwin notes progress but warns of weak internet, cyber-attacks, and low digital literacy. Both describe volunteers countering hacks, phishing, and state surveillance, stressing that literacy determines whether digital tools “are weaponized or contribute to society.” Survey data show moderate public trust, limited mainly by fear of surveillance. The researchers also highlight cooperation between NUG ministries and ethnic armed organizations in health, education, and local finance, along with experimental AI-based counseling and humanitarian databases. They call for interoperable systems, stronger privacy laws, and a roadmap for digital justice, arguing that courts and records must be modernized despite the war. Myat Su Thwe extends the discussion to food security, urging digital mapping and cross-border coordination with Thailand and India to address famine conditions. In closing, she asserts that NUG legitimacy depends not only on its constitutional origin but on its performance and capacity to lead. Kyaw Lwin concludes, “While others debate artificial intelligence and life beyond Earth, we are still fighting yesterday's war,” capturing the resilience of a society rebuilding governance through code and conviction.

The Todd Herman Show, produced by Grok:GROK - Podcast Episode Outline: "Faith in the Fight: How Democrats and Republicans Weaponize Christianity for Power"Episode Title: Faith in the Fight: How Democrats and Republicans Weaponize Christianity for PowerAir Date: Monday, November 17, 2025 (Recorded live from the studio on November 15)Host: [Your Host's Name], award-winning journalist and political commentatorProducer Notes: This episode unpacks the cynical ways both major U.S. parties invoke Christian faith to rally voters and justify policies in 2025's polarized landscape. With Trump's second term sparking debates over "Christian nationalism" via Project 2025 and Democrats countering with progressive "faith outreach" amid immigration raids and shutdown fallout, we'll highlight how scripture is twisted for electoral gain. Drawing on fresh polls, articles, and video clips, the show reveals the moral asymmetries and hypocrisies. Runtime: 50 minutes. Tone: Provocative yet balanced, blending outrage with nuance and guest debates. Music: Somber choral opener evoking hymns, shifting to urgent percussion for policy clashes.Episode Structure & Script Teaser1. Cold Open (0:00–3:00)Audio Hook: Montage of Trump's Bible-waving rally clips, Pelosi quoting St. Francis during the shutdown, and evangelical pastors endorsing deportations as "God's will."2. Segment 1: The Polls – What Christians Really Think (and Vote) (3:00–12:00)Focus: Dive into data showing stark divides: White evangelicals' lockstep GOP loyalty vs. Black Protestants' Democratic tilt, with independents disillusioned by both sides' faith pandering. Host reads synopses aloud, weaving in analysis on how parties exploit these splits.Key Talking Points:White Christians (41% of voters) gave Trump 72% support in 2024, per PRRI, seeing him as "God-ordained" (60% of white evangelicals agree). Republicans leverage this for anti-abortion and immigration policies framed as "biblical mandates."Black Protestants (83% for Harris) and Hispanic Catholics (50% Dem lean) prioritize social justice, which Democrats tie to "welcoming the stranger" (Matthew 25).Overall, 25% of voters believe God picked Trump; Christian nationalism correlates perfectly with Trump votes in red states. But 62% oppose declaring the U.S. a "Christian nation," signaling backlash to GOP theocracy pushes.Poll/SourceSynopsisLinkPRRI 2024 Post-Election American Values SurveyWhite Christians (41% of voters) backed Trump 72%, with 60% of white evangelicals believing God "ordained" his win; Black Protestants favored Harris 83%. Highlights GOP's "divine mandate" narrative vs. Dems' justice focus, but only 25% overall see God's hand in elections.PRRI.orgPew Research Center 2025 Survey on Religion & Politics59% of Protestants lean GOP, 50% of Catholics Republican (up from even split); 67% of Republicans want Bible influencing laws vs. 32% of Dems. Reveals parties' faith appeals: GOP pushes "Christian morals in policy," Dems emphasize church-state separation.PewResearch.orgPRRI 2025 State-Level Christian Nationalism SurveySupport for Christian nationalism (highest in MS/OK at 51%) perfectly correlates with Trump votes; 62% nationally oppose U.S. as "Christian nation." Exposes GOP's state-level theocracy push (e.g., embryo rulings) vs. Dems' opposition as "extremism."PRRI.org3. Segment 2: The Articles – Scripture as Strategy (12:00–28:00)Focus: Explore how Republicans fuse faith with nationalism (Project 2025) while Democrats rebrand as "compassionate Christians" on immigration and equity. Host discusses synopses, contrasting GOP's "moral restoration" with Dems' "perversion of Christianity" critiques.Key Talking Points:GOP: Project 2025 as "Christian nationalist fever dream," redefining freedom "by God, not man" to justify anti-LGBTQ+ and abortion bans.Dems: Shift to faith outreach (e.g., Pelosi's St. Francis invocation) to counter "Christian fascism," but accused of ignoring biblical basics like life sanctity. Both: Historical "poisonous bargain" since Reagan, turning faith into votes while eroding morals. X post [post:61] nails it: Pastors must call out Dem platform's "detestable" policies.Guest Spot: Historian [Guest Name] (e.g., Kristin Du Mez) debates a GOP strategist on whether Dems' "Christian socialism" or GOP's "theocracy" is the bigger threat.Producer Tip: Read X post [post:54] excerpt: "Dems enshrine sin in platform; GOP does not."
