Even though she got her first camera at the age of six, Holly McGlynn wasn't sure that she wanted to be a photographer, but having studied fine art and PR, she felt the pull of making pictures and threw herself in at the deep end in Berlin. From there she has gone on to be one of Ireland's foremost fashion photographers, working with huge global brands and taking pictures of supermodels for household-name designers - but there's a lot more to her than just the glamour game.Holly joined the podcast to talk about photography, networking, how to take a portrait and the challenge of photographing someone you struggle to connect with, and why sustainability has become a core value in what she does.Support the podcast: patreon.com/ourmaninstockholm
If you've listened to season one then you'll probably remember Holly McGlynn. (If you haven't then go listen to that episode!). Holly is back, this time to chat about portfolio reviews, why they're so important, and what we can all be doing right now as fashion photographers during the Coronavirus Crisis. This is a very chilled out, unscripted chat between two friends, and I hope that you learn from it, as well as get some comfort from it, too! #18 Today I'm back with a new great episode to talk about Fashion Photography with Holly McGlynn- She works with some of the most fantastic fashion brands such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Levi’s, Glamour, Tiffany and many other. She’s brilliant and smart and she is committed to diversity in the industry and one of the things I love about her is that where she has the choice, she works with models of ethnicities and body types that are under-represented in the fashion and beauty industries. Today we talk everything about fashion photography -the beginning of her career as fashion photographer - how to build your portfolio - how to set your rates - how to get experience at the beginning - how she ended up working with the biggest fashion brands - her photography style - her plans for the future (that include Vogue) - her top 3 tips to make it as a new fashion photographer in this competitive industry http://www.hollymcglynn.com Glam Observer Membership https://www.glamobserver.com/membership-plans/ https://www.glamobserver.com
On this week’s episode Niamh Maher is joined in studio by Millie Mackintosh. Years after leaving her reality roots behind, we catch up with the Made In Chelsea alum and Quality Street heiress to talk life, love and some regretful fashion choices. Ahead of her upcoming nuptials we’re also discussing wedding gifts, the plus one debacle and whether strippers are ever TRULY acceptable. For our spotlight interview this week, we’re joined on the line by London based Irish fashion photographer Holly McGlynn, she weighs in on the murky world of retouching and shares how she hopes to diversify the fashion industry… one model at a time.
Holly McGlynn is an award-winning fashion photographer. Her clients include Chanel, Mulberry, Louis Vuitton and she's been shortlisted for Irish Fashion Photographer of the Year twice and won a gold medal in the Prix de la Photographie Paris 2015. We talk about how photography is a competitive industry, how to get into it, how it is a male-dominated industry still, the intimacy of the job and taking someone's picture. There's also lots of honesty in this episode about having a baby and going back to work, especially when you have a very physical job and are self-employed. We also discuss having inclusion riders on your set when working on a project.Hope you enjoy this episode, don't forget to rate and review! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
