Another episode, another meandering conversation lol. Join us this week as we discuss the final days of the holidays and the things we've been able to enjoy, also how the spirit of the holidays feels different every year the kids get older. We revisit the crazy economy and how we are getting taxed up the wazoo and shrink flation. Quality Street chocolate scandal was the perfect example of this. Chocolates lead us to when nature calls and how your body can tell where you are and makes it much harder to hold it the closer you get to a toilet. Colins house might be haunted, or someone's just messing with him. The conversation ends with a trip to the train station. All that and more inside! Amanda Prowse and Penny Dommett nattering around the kitchen table, chatting about all things random. Are we sitting comfortably... here we go! We are in our post Christmas fug and neither of us can look at a Quality Street or a bit of cheese! Do we eat cheese with Christmas cake? Weird! Did we all have a lovely time? Penny and I discover we both dislike Christmas pud and mincemeat - at LAST something in common!!! Who makes there own pastry? Who has time for that?! Penny, apparently. Penny's recommendation for watching is - Black Doves - Mandy watched and agreed it was epic! Little bit throat cutty at times, so peer from behind a cushion, but SO good - Keira Knightley - she's marvellous! We talk gifts - we both got everything we wanted - Mandy got perfume (finally) and Penny did very well too. Bulb planting - yep, more good planting advice! We talk the wisdom and joy of spending time with older people - so much to love and learn! We talk about Mandy's book An Ordinary Life - Molly is 94 and has a fantastic story to tell. We take a deep dive and sudden turn into WWII - and the importance of sharing those stories and experiences, lest we forget! Including our own family experience. We talk about our hopes for the coming year and the horror of January birthdays!!! The joy that is Snowdrops - something that heralds new beginnings. The value of close friends as get older - how lucky are we! ...we share a moment when Penny makes me howl with laughter - so what's new! And don't forget - January 11th - OUR LIVE EVENT at Weyhill near Andover - tickets from @TeaLeavesandReads save the DATE!!! XSo, if you fancy it, pull up a chair and join us for a delightfully irreverent chit chat about life and all its random tangents - bring a cuppa. Cake optional...

Have you bought some of those tubs of sweets for Christmas yet? What do you go for? Quality Street, Roses, Celebrations or Heroes? Elaine Horan, has been studying the contents of the Sweet Survey and has the latest data.
Merry Christmas everyone!'Tis the season to be merry and treat yourselves, so this week we've given ourselves a week away from the list and instead we're talking about games with a Christmas theme, or a Christmas element... it's all quite vague but I think it's become apparent over the past year and a half that we wouldn't have it any other way! We've got our Naughty and Nice lists to go through, so grab a tub of Roses (not Quality Street), a big lump of cheese (not a mince pie) a generous glass full of Snowball (definitely NOT Eggnog!) and get cosy as we make your festive season merry and bright!Enjoy!**Bucket List Reviews**You may have heard in the episode that we are working on a website where we will have WRITTEN content to accompany our podcasts!Unfortunately issues with the server where we built the website have delayed the launch, but we're hopeful it will be ready to go by the New Year so keep an eye on our Social Media pages! It's a minefield wrapped in tinsel, isn't it? But don't worry….I've got you covered. This week, I'm sharing real, practical strategies to help you manage the “new normal” of ex-communication, especially when emotions are running high. As dawn cracked on Christmas Eve, I found myself enveloped in the quiet hum of anticipation, a stark contrast to the sleepless night behind me. While reminiscing about past holidays and the vibrant hues of Quality Street chocolates, I felt the excitement brewing within my daughter Ro, her spirit a beacon for the festivities to come. Join us as we navigate the juxtaposition of work and celebration, with Trevor possibly taking the reins of today's TikTok recipe, all while I tidy up a cooking video. Reflecting on the year that's almost behind us is like flipping through an album of vibrant snapshots and warm echoes of laughter, each memory a stitch in the fabric of our family's story. Amidst the whirl of pasta-making and the soothing art of bread-baking, we found solace in the rhythm of our shared experiences, like wine tastings and the simple act of gathering around a meal. My heart swells with gratitude for the growth we've seen, the adventures we've embarked on, and the community that has stood by us, every step of the way.As we look forward to the new year, it's impossible not to cherish the moments that have shaped us—time well spent over meals, and the profound joy of our Italian family trip. Our episode is a tapestry of gratitude, woven with the threads of shared memories, laughter, and a panna cotta recipe that promises to sweeten your Christmas morning. Wrap yourself in the warmth of our stories and join us as we send out holiday wishes, all the while holding on to the hope and excitement of what's yet to come.FYT Spotify PlaylistSubscribe onYoutubeThank you for listening

"And hark", proclaimed Producer Ken, "before the clock strikes Christmas Day, you will be visited by THREE podcasts!". 'Oh here we go' thought Scrooge, just wanting to get on. "You must learn from the pod of telly past, the pod of telly past and then the pod of telly past." Well, he'd expected repeats at this time of year, but Scrooge didn't argue because he'd looked through the Radio Times and hadn't even taken the top off his red marker... Yes it's the first of the festive specials from The Peggy Mount Calamity Hour, and to set the scene the boys need to go RIGHT back to ITV's Christmas With The Larkins. Blazing a trail through the fledgling sitcom-market, Dame Peggy herself berates and bellows her way to a yuletide family gathering with all the farcical trimmings and mishaps we've come to expect over the intervening decades. What can go wrong? Oh, everything. How many trombone wah-s are acceptable as the comedown to a punchline? How many household appliances can be used to defrost a turkey? And how many instances of imminent or actual violence need to be in a script before Peggs will greenlight it? Look, you're not pressing Play right - let Peggy take over and find out... It's the season of giving and receiving (oi oi) and this year I am clearly in a giving mood (oi oi x2) because I am gifting you an early Christmas present as today we are joined by the triple threat Queen, Hannah Waddingham. It's been hard to miss Hannah Waddingham this year because she has been booked, busy and blessed and all over our screens. In 2023 Hannah has done more than most in their entire career. She presented the Olivier awards, before going on to become an overnight gay/national treasure presenting Eurovision and she reprised her Emmy award winning role as the football boss, Rebecca Welton in the final season of Ted Lasso. If you aren't familiar with ‘Ted Lasso' it's one of the best feel good shows on the planet, as it follows American college Football coach, Ted (played and co-created by Jason Sudeikis) who takes over AFC Richmond and wins the sporting world over with his distinct positive penny outlook. As Hannah releases her very own all singing, all dancing, camp as christmas extravaganza on Apple TV+, ‘Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas' she joins me for a jolly good chin wag and let me tell you on this show, during the season of giving, she is giving us RANGE let me tell you - Mariah Carey better watch her holiday season crown! Today Hannah chats to me about making her dreams happen later in life after treading the boards across the West End and Broadway before her big Hollywood break in ‘Ted Lasso' after an iconic stint in ‘Game of Thrones', too. I love Hannah's words on choosing to be single, finding positivity in life even when it's tough and never letting anyone dim her light again after men dimming her light in her 20s and 30s. Let this be a reminder to you, that you should NEVER dim your light for anyone babes and I hope this chat inspires you to shine brightly all year round babes. In this special edition of the Accounting Influencers Podcast, hosted by Martin Bissett, featuring Gordon King from The World of Twist, the conversation delves into the intersection of creativity and accounting in the music industry. Gordon King shares insights into the rise and fall of The World of Twist, a band he co-founded, shedding light on the financial dynamics within the group. As creative professionals navigating the music scene, the band members initially had little business acumen and entrusted their manager with handling finances. Gordon reflects on the naivety and excitement that often accompany young musicians signing major record deals, highlighting the importance of understanding contracts and financial arrangements in the music business. The discussion provides a fascinating glimpse into the challenges faced by creative individuals when dealing with the business side of their careers.YoutubeYou can watch this episode and more on our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@accountinginfluencers Guest BioWorld of Twist was an English indie pop band formed in Sheffield in 1985, experienced various lineup changes throughout history. The band's original lineup featured James Fry (vocals), Andrew Hobson (bass guitar), Gordon King (guitar), Tony Ogden (drums), Rory Conolly (saxophone), Nick Phillips (organ), and Andy Robbins (synthesizer). After disbanding, a new lineup emerged in Manchester in 1986.While the band gained attention for their live shows and radio sessions, their debut album, "Quality Street" (1991), didn't receive significant critical or commercial success. Despite not touring North America, "Sons of the Stage" succeeded in Toronto and New York. Creative differences and Ogden's decision to stop singing contributed to the band's dissolution in 1992.QUATERMASS III is the pilot recording of this exciting project that came from the minds behind World of Twist, Earl Brutus, and The Dials. Presented by The Ministry of Light Entertainment in collaboration with the British Experimental Rocket Group and Science Monthly, QUATERMASS III promises to be a unique and groundbreaking musical endeavour.◣━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━◢If you like the show, we'd appreciate a review on whatever platform you listen to. Lux Radio Theatre, sometimes spelled Lux Radio Theater, a classic radio anthology series, was broadcast on the NBC Blue Network (1934–35) (owned by the National Broadcasting Company, later predecessor of American Broadcasting Company [ABC] in 1943–1945); CBS Radio network (Columbia Broadcasting System) (1935–54), and NBC Radio (1954–55). Initially, the series adapted Broadway plays during its first two seasons before it began adapting films. These hour-long radio programs were performed live before studio audiences. The series became the most popular dramatic anthology series on radio, broadcast for more than 20 years and continued on television as the Lux Video Theatre through most of the 1950s. The primary sponsor of the show was Unilever through its Lux Soap brand. Visuals: https://getbehindthebillboard.com/2022/04/14/episode-41-ed-morris/Podcast 41 features one of the industry's greatest talents - Ed Morris.Ed has flexed his creative muscles across just about every discipline you can think of.Art direction, writing, typography, creative direction, photography, commercials direction and most recently turning his hand to film, directing his brilliant debut movie ‘How to stop a recurring dream'.There's no end to his talent. He even plays the ukulele. But thankfully he can't do the Rubik's cube ;-)We spent a wonderful hour hearing how these talents have helped shape his billboards, which have won at every major award show. And every one of them is a cracker. From the beautifully judged b&w portraits for Tfl to the utterly joyful Red Stripe, the iconic Kew Gardens 96 sheet, the graphic Sta Prest and our favourite - Quality Street - which in Ed's own words are ‘like stills from a film'.Every campaign has utter simplicity at its heart, executed with fantastic craft. And when Ed is the client the standard doesn't drop - the poster for his movie is a belter - courtesy of another BtB guest Paul Belford (Episode 2).Ed epitomises what creativity is all about. Passionate. Restless. Honest. Hard working. Collaborative. Always with a point of view. And always with a ton of energy. Thanks for coming on Ed. We loved it.
