In 1974, Michelle Wallace lost her life in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. The first predator, the human that took her life, was bad enough but there were many more that would follow, picking at her carcass and scattering her remains throughout the wilderness. Twenty years later, before her body returned to dust, a young, smart and tenacious investigator and members of a team called Necrosearch worked together to find her. With a lot of skill and some good luck, they found her skull. Roy Melanson would be found guilty of her murder. What they didn't know at the time was that he was a serial killer and that catching him would help authorities solve several other murders from the 70's and 80's. A woman disappears without a trace; even though foul play is suspected, the leads don't pan out and the trail turns cold. Twenty years would pass before police are able to link a clump of hair discovered in an isolated area with the missing woman. Members of "NecroSearch," a group of volunteer forensic scientists, searched a remote area of Colorado a meter at a time, found the victim's body, and gave authorities the evidence they needed to bring the killer to justice.

Join the show for an in depth discussion with New York Times best-selling author Steve Jackson and the updated release of his book, No Stone Unturned from WildBlue Press. "Jackson recreates the genesis of NecroSearch International as a small eclectic group of scientists and law enforcement who volunteered their services to help locate the clandestine graves of murder victims and recover the remains and evidence to assist with the apprehension and conviction of the killers. Known early on as “The Pig People” because of their experiments in locating graves using the carcasses of pigs (because of their similarities to human bodies), NecroSearch has evolved and expanded into one of the most respected forensic investigation teams in the world." The True Story of the World’s Premiere Forensic recreates the genesis of NecroSearch International as a small eclectic group of scientists and law enforcement who volunteered their services to help locate the clandestine graves of murder victims and recover the remains and evidence to assist with the apprehension and conviction of the killers. Known early on as “The Pig People” because of their experiments in locating graves using the carcasses of pigs (because of their similarities to human bodies), NecroSearch has evolved and expanded into one of the most respected forensic investigation teams in the world. New York Times bestselling author Steve Jackson, the author of BOGEYMAN and MONSTER, vividly tells the story of this incredible group and recounts some of their most memorable early cases that taken separately would make great true crime books. Following his participation in a NecroSearch expedition to Russia looking for the remains of a Russian noble in 2013, Jackson was made an honorary member of NecroSearch International in November 2014.
