Corpus Delicti
Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We're back from our break with a new series and a new multi part case!On Christmas Eve, 2002, Scott Peterson came home to find his pregnant wife Laci missing. She wasn't seen again until her body washed ashore months later, as did her unborn son. Suspicion fell on Scott right away, and he was eventually arrested, charged, and found guilty. But this case is anything but simple. In this episode, we talk about the high level details, what Scott says happened that day, and what investigators found out happened that day. And this is just the beginning.o access earlier episodes of Corpus Delicti and to help support the show, please visit patreon.com/corpusdelictiOur merch store can be found at teepublic.com/stores/corpus-delicti-podcastMusic by:Kai Engel "Daemones"This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. Last seen alive on July 13, 1995, beautiful and kind young mother Yolanda Panek's body has still never been found. A restraining order gave authorities the information they needed to pursue Yolanda's former partner for her murder, but he still hasn't revealed where he left her body. This is the tragic story of the murder of Yolanda Panek, who deserved to share her generosity with the world and be a mother to her young son. Join us today for an intriguing murder case from the 1980s. Corpus Delicti is a Latin term that translates to "body of crime". The prosecution is required to prove the existence of a crime before a person can be convicted of murder if no body is ever found. Find out how DNA and circumstantial evidence convicted a man of murder long before technological advances, even though a body has never been found, over 40 years later! (Real names in this case have been changed out of respect for the family and safety concerns.)SOURCE MATERIALS:‘Anonymous'Hosted and edited by Amanda ScottCo-Hosted, produced, researched, written and original graphic design by Pamela ScottOriginal music by Waves EntertainmentDisclaimer by Chuck HaungsENMESHED is an OH NO! A series of attacks and murders ends with strange calls to 911. These calls weren't from the victims or the onlookers, but rather the killer himself. While he was so emotional on these calls he earned the name "the weepy voiced killer", it didn't seem to deter him from continuing his violent streak. That is, until he found someone that would cause his downfall. To access earlier episodes of Corpus Delicti and to help support the show, please visit patreon.com/corpusdelictiOur merch store can be found at teepublic.com/stores/corpus-delicti-podcastMusic by:Kai Engel"Daemones"Blooper music by:Art of Escapism"Coal Miners"This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. This is part 2 of Irene Garza's case. When we left off, Father Feit had been sent to a monastery so the church could get him off their hands. But this certainly isn't the end. Years later, two witnesses come forward with stories that match almost identically. With this new information, what will they do with Father Feit? We're back! New year, new series! This series involves cases that went cold for a time but heat back up and eventually are solved. Also, this IS a two part episode which we forget to say until about halfway through. Irene Garza was a beauty queen who taught less fortunate children. The Saturday before Easter in 1960, she goes to mass and confession but never returns home. Five days later her body is found in a canal. The only suspect is a priest. But this wasn't something you really said out loud...To access earlier episodes of Corpus Delicti and to help support the show, please visit patreon.com/corpusdelictiOur merch store can be found at teepublic.com/stores/corpus-delicti-podcastMusic by:Kai Engel "Daemones"Blooper music by: Art of Escapism "Coal Miners"This work is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. This week, we needed a little bit of hope so while this story does involve someone who went missing, there is a resolution. Four-year-old Cleo Smith was camping with her family for the weekend. Her mother woke up one morning to find that Cleo was not in the tent, nor was she outside. At first, the hope was that she had simply wandered off, but the tent zipper being left unzipped way higher than Cleo could have reached cast doubt onto that. Daisy Mae Heath disappeared from the Yakima Reservation in White Swan, WA. Daisy was no stranger to the woods as she often spent time hiking, camping, hunting, and visiting other reservations. This is why her family didn't immediately panic when she didn't return home. But soon, it was clear that something was wrong. This case, with zero suspects, is one of many stories of missing and murdered indigenous women across the United States.
