On this bonus episode we have yet another clash of the podcasts. I had the pleasure of a zoom call and DJ roulette session with the host of Dollar Country, Franklin Fantini, or as his listeners know him, Frank the Drifter. It's one of my favorite shows, and shares a common mission to this program: that's to preserve overlooked music history and share it with a wider audience. For Low Profile, that means researching the artists and mining them for their oral history. For Dollar Country, it means sifting through thousands of overlooked country 45's from the 20th century and sharing the treasure with the listener. Franklin moved to Cleveland, Ohio from his hometown of Lawrence, KS. For the last five years or so, he has been regularly releasing sets of irregular songs, many of which even the most devoted fans of country music have never heard of. So, you might be wondering, who is Frank The Drifter, and where does he find these nuggets? Can I hear some of them? Why does he do it? Is there no stopping him? Feel free to eavesdrop as a couple of record nerds go head to head. Whether you're a fan of country music or not, after listening to his show you'll never think about it the same.(For an unedited, feature-length video recording of this episode, visit patreon.com/lowprofile) So, you might be wondering, who is Frank The Drifter, and where does he find these nuggets? This week, DJ Ninja speaks with Sophia Nadia of Cold Beaches. In different areas of our lives, we wear different hats. Sometimes those hats need to be just a little bit flashier to give us the courage to step up. Introducing the best imposter syndrome hack of all- the alter ego. Celebrities and successful people from the OG days have used alter egos to grow their self belief to do big things. Hank Williams had Luke the Drifter, Beyonce had Sasha Fierce... there are tons of stories of celebrities being very open of their use of "a more advanced" self that they could step into. Find out in this episode what imposter syndrome is and how it may not be a bad idea to separate out who you are in different areas of your life, and assign an alter ego to some of those areas. Story of boat drifting Dark Alone Drifting Sinking Embarrassed Terrified Taking on water DRIFTING to DREAMING Definition of DRIFTING: to be carried along by currents of water or air, or by the force of circumstances... To wander aimlessly Drifting Lack of vision Lack of purpose Just trying to get through the day Numbing Stalled out Controlled by fear John 10:10 shows us the two options - DRIFTING vs. DREAMING The Thief comes to KILL, STEAL & DESTROY (Drifting) But I have come to bring ABUNDANCE… LIFE to the FULL” (Dreaming) Satan wants to kill, steal and destroy the work of God in your family, your work, your ministry, your friendships, your finances, your marriage, your parenting, and your health… The Thief (satan) wants you to be a DRIFTER. DRIFTING is a WIN for satan Remember our Bible Story? Saul was DRIFTING – he was the king and he was sitting under the pomegranate tree… (Meanwhile, Saul was taking it easy under the pomegranate tree) >> There were about six hundred men with him Jonathan was DREAMING – he was a CHANGE MAKER… As the son of the king, he had the option of relaxing like his dad. He could have played it safe… There is a Gravitational Pull towards Drifting. Our brains are wired to Avoid Pain... Limbic Cortex = Lizard Brain - It's in charge of fight, flight, feeding, fear, freezing up... The lizard brain is the source of the resistance Pain is One of the Primary reasons we DRIFT. Hurts, pains and past struggles lead us to avoid risk... PAIN >> Passivity… Pain can lead to PAUSE or a Plateau in our journey of trusting God. PAIN >> Passion & Purpose DREAMER - Kids don't worry about constraints or limitations... They think with a filter of abundance and possibility Acts 2:17 “…God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people; your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.” (Joel 2:28) Two Steps for each of us: We are going to Remember & Run Remember You Are a Child of God - it starts with your identity… You are a LOVED child of God. To live as a DREAMER, you must receive this gift and step into your identity as a Son of God… A Daughter of God Run! Throw off the Weight and Run! Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” Pain leads to Passivity. Pain leads us to hit PAUSE on our DREAMS. The pain of our past has stolen our FREEDOM and we are looking through the little rearview mirror and over our shoulder at what should be behind us. The windshield of your life needs to be so much BIGGER than the rearview mirror Experience the healing that your Heavenly Father wants for you. Calm Pills Ambient Radio: calmradio.uppmixes.com Podcast: calmpodcast.uppmixes.com Instagram: instagram.com/upliftingpills This mix was released 6 years ago as part of my Drifter ambient series, which I created under my previous pseudonym DJ Seroton. It was the first collaboration I have done with the talented musician Tonepoet, who creates an excellent ambient mix podcast called Spaceman's Transmissions. This is what Tonepoet had to say about the mix and our collaboration: "Music speaks across boundaries of time, distance, and language, and what we present here is proof of that. We had some really great communication in getting this together and our mindsets were in line with each other in that we wanted to construct a seamless journey for your mind to bathe itself within. In creating this mix, we became completely taken in by each others concepts, and that friendly competition only stoked a passion to deliver our finest moments to your ears." Making this mix was a labor of love. If you feel like supporting Calm Pills online radio & podcast or showing your appreciation, buy me a cup of a coffee (uppmixes.com/donate). You can also share this with your friends, rate it or leave a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you subscribed to this podcast. Thank you. Also, did you know that I have another podcast called Chill Pills. It features the same quality of craftmanship and careful curation you've come to expect from this show but focuses on more genres of music spanning chillout, lounge, jazz, instrumental, lo-fi chill hop, etc. Check it out: https://link.chtbl.com/ChillPills Tracklist 00:00 Porya Hatami ― Mej 06:39 Michael Stearns ― Night Currents 13:35 Jonn Serrie ― Le Trésor (Edit) 15:59 Rudy Adrian & Ron Boots ― The Morning Dew (For Barbara) 18:49 Harold Budd ― Steal Away 20:34 Antonymes ― 301210 26:03 Electric Skychurch ― Outside (Excerpt) 26:42 Bing Satellites & Daniel Land ― King Midas In Reverse 32:14 Darren Harper ― Will My Memories of You Hold True? Phil, Jake and Jason are joined by returning champion singer-songwriter Dave Hause to rank the questionable experiment Chris Gaines on the List of Every Damn Thing. Plus we re-rank sex!Follow Dave on Instagram (@davehause), Twitter (@hausedave) and Facebook (DaveHauseMusic). You can find his songs on Spotify & Apple Music. If you're in Europe, here's the info on Dave's upcoming Germany / Austria shows. Most dates are sold out, so get on it for the ones that aren't! If you have something to add to the list, email it to firstname.lastname@example.org (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).SHOW NOTES: We make some references to ASMR, which stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (sometimes Auto Sensory Meridian Response). It's not always, or maybe not even usually, a sex thing. Kink-shaming is something Phil's always trying not to do. “Asparagus Tarzan”(Spargeltarzan) is a German slang term of endearment / insult equivalent to “stringbean” or “beanpole” in English. Here's some etymology. The name comes from a description of famous skinny German footballer, Hans Bongartz. “Friends in Low Places” was written by Dewayne Blackwell and Earl Bud Lee. As expected, there's nothing on the internet saying that either of them didn't spend all their songwriting proceeds on taking their family to the movies. We discuss a few male celebrities with “can I speak to the manager” haircuts, including The Goo-Goo Dolls' Johnny Rzeznik, Country singer Keith Urban and Criss Angel. We go into some detail about the CD booklet pics from the album Garth Brooks in… The Life of Chris Gaines, including the one featuring his creamy hammies. The similarity between Gaines and Zoolander is uncanny but we think they're both going for the same thing. It's like how calculus was invented by Newton and Leibniz at the same time. We talk about how the rapper Spice 1 sometimes switches mid-song into a dancehall influenced persona named Reggaengsta. A good example is from Clip & the Trigga. Luke the Drifter was an alter-ego that Hank Williams used for more explicitly religious material. Here's a little poem/sermon that's maybe a little ahead of its time, "Too Many Parties and Too Many Pals". Hank Williams, Jr. was apparently given the nickname Bocephus by his father, as he rocked in the cradle. We talk a bit about Eminem's alter-ego Slim Shady. Here's a link to Feminem, who may or may not be related. Here's Chris Tucker in a recent standup special talking about Blade himself. We mention George Clooney, whose friends (aka Jason) know him as the “Cloontang”. Here's the Childish Gambino cover of Chris Gaines' “Lost in You”. We talk about the Greg Album / Cher project Allman & Woman. Greg Allman has yet to be ranked on the List of Everything but his ex-wife Cher can currently be found at #7. The Jay-Z / R. Kelly album is called Best of Both Worlds. Collecting a decade's worth of stories by acclaimed author David Leo Rice, Drifter is a wild trip through the occult and surreal undercurrents of contemporary life. Ever in pursuit of illumination and unholy opportunity, the characters in these stories roam from blighted Western settlements to eerie New England circuses, from the backwoods of Austria to the remotest reaches of Japan, and from seedy Caribbean islands to the shadow of the Swiss Alps. Rice is in conversation with Matthew Spellberg _______________________________________________ Produced by Maddie Gobbo, Lance Morgan, & Michael Kowaleski Theme: "I Love All My Friends," an unreleased demo by Fragile Gang. Welcome to the 8th episode of the Confined Spaces Radio show. My todays guests are my dear friends Between Ourselves. By my opinion, the lads are among the top 5 Irish producers at the moment. Between Ourselves is an Irish duo based in Waterford, consisting of Davin Coady and Geoff Foley. Starting with a debut EP on RePublik Music Recordings which includes a stunning remix from Innervisions artist Aera, and a following EP out on Galaktika Records, the lads have gone on to release music on labels such as, Engrave Ltd the notorious Italian label run by Musumeci & Dodi Palese, No Way Records, Addicted Music and Dance Artifakts. 2018 also saw their debut vinyl release on Berlin based label Best Works Records run by Andre Lodemann & Daniel Best, which includes a punchy edit from Andre himself and a monstrous remix from Berlin based producer Ruede Hagelstein. The duo have gained massive support locally and globally within the last 3 years with the likes of Dixon, Ame, Frankey & Sandrino, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Mano le Tough, The Drifter, Job Jobse, Kris Davis and many more displaying their music on dance floors worldwide. Make sure to keep an ear out for the guys as they continue to work on new productions and live sets for the future. Viktor Marina · CSR ♯008 [w/ Between Ourselves, Ireland] (22.06.2021)

Cornered like a rat, the Drifter brandishes his knife at his host, calling him stingy for hoarding women. The Mariner pulls a knife from his belt and the men rush each other. Up on deck, Helen grabs a gun and watches as the drifter crawls from the hatch. He tries to stumble towards his boat but falls dead. The Mariner makes quick work of looting the Drifter's boat and dumping the body. Special Guests: Hayley and Katie from Time Warp Radio

Helen drops through the hatch leading below deck and finds herself alone with the chittering drifter who looms behind her like a predator circling his prey. She seizes on an opportunity to grab a weapon from the wall, but the Drifter is oddly strong and disarms her. Suddenly, the hatch opens, and the Mariner appears to announce that the deal is off.
The Drifter opens a canister and produces his most valuable possession; paper, the life-savings of some Atoll refugees. Helen reminds the pair that she is not an item to be bought and sold, but her words fall on deaf ears as the Mariner negotiates the terms of Helen's prostitution. The Drifter is granted half an hour with Helen and goes below deck. Helen, seething, follows him.
The son of evangelical missionaries, The Drifter Luke traveled frequently as a child, eventually settling in Washington state by age 9. He loved music from an early age singing bluegrass/gospel tunes with his family in church performance. By age 15, Luke began to focus more and more of his time to writing and creating original songs. With songs tackling ideas like addiction, faith, regret, expectation versus reality, and the seasons of life, The Drifter Luke's music sheds a fresh and compelling light on the human condition. https://www.thedrifterluke.com/ https://www.niagaramoonmusic.com/
Half-starved, dehydrated, and near-raving mad the Drifter eyes the Trimaran greedily taking note of the bare tomato plant as well as Helen and Enola. He trades Helen her necklace for a fishing rod, but the Mariner is only interested in resin. The Mariner tries to dismiss the Drifter, but Helen has caught his eye and He's determined not to leave without some human contact.
This week, in Oakley, Kansas, a woman is found, brutally murdered, several times over, with a large knife, still stuck in her torso. The evidence quickly points to a local hitchhiker, who recently blew into town. But it gets crazier from there, when this hitchhiker blames the whole thing on "The Drifter", and it only gets weirder from there! Along the way, we find out that Buffalo Bill is considered "culture" in some places, that helping people is nice, but helping the wrong people can kill you, and that even if a person is dead, there are certain things that you shouldn't do to them!
