The Icelandic keyboardist and composer Eydís Evensen has released three albums of music that blends classical lyricism with the repeating patterns of post-minimalist music. "Her compositions, guided by emotion, are intimate explorations of mourning, hope, reflection, and renewal—creating a world that invites listeners to feel their way through the music" (Lincoln Center event program). On her latest LP, Oceanic Mirror, one might hear reflections of Iceland's landscapes – glacial stillness, volcanic tension, the power and motion. Eydís Evensen plays new songs from the album, in-studio. She plays in New York at Lincoln Center's David Rubenstein Atrium on Jan. 9, 2026.Set list: 1. OM, Helena's Sunrise 2. Drifter 3. Winter's Void, Somnolent

About a year ago, a Tangle staff member introduced me to a writer named A.M. Hickman. He had just published a fascinating piece on his Substack, Hickman's Hinterlands, arguing that America wasn't unreasonably expensive — Americans themselves were simply demanding more out of their lives: living in urban hotspots, seeking out fancy apartments or big houses, refusing to take bets on up-and-coming areas. Hickman told this story through his personal lens; he resides in upstate New York (but, as you'll see in a moment, is also a bit of a nomad) in a rural, dilapidated town that also happens to be incredibly cheap and quite beautiful.I loved the story; it felt like a fresh narrative, delivered in a wholly unique voice. I began devouring Hickman's writing — on class, on the birth of his daughter, on the death of his mother, on what it's like to travel via bus through rural America, and even on his longing (and our shared affection) for the desert. So, a few months ago, I got Hickman on the phone and pitched him on the idea of writing for Tangle. What stories was he turning over in his head? What piece did he want some help with from a sharp and unique editorial team? What was he working on next? He was brimming with ideas, but one in particular caught my attention: a story about how he missed being homeless. Hickman had spent years as a kind of nomadic “bum” (his words) hitchhiking across America, and in a flourish, he described all the ways in which he felt more alive and more intellectually stimulated during that time in his life than any other. I was intrigued, and I pushed him for a draft.Ad-free podcasts are here!To listen to this podcast ad-free, and to enjoy our subscriber only premium content, go to ReadTangle.com to sign up!You can subscribe to Tangle by clicking here or drop something in our tip jar by clicking here. This year, we decided to do things a little differently. Instead of scrolling through another massive online retailer, we teamed up with our friends at Strike Zone Fishing in Jacksonville, Florida — one of the best local tackle shops in the South — to put together a holiday guide built around real-life use, local connection, and good gear that lasts. In this podcast, Chase Hancock and Hunter Leavine break down some of our favorite products of the year — everything from stocking stuffers and fly kits to gear we've tested on Drifter trips across the world. We've spent a lot of time in the field (and on the water) putting this stuff through the wringer, and these are the things that actually made the cut. Watch the full video, check out our full product list at captains collective.com, and remember: the best gifts can't be wrapped — they're the memories you make with the people you love on the water. We close out #NewOIRvember 2 with a movie that New World Pictures didn't release, but they nearly could've if they hadn't chased off Roger Corman to start Concorde Pictures, where he released THE DRIFTER in 1988. starring Kim Delaney (New World's Tour of Duty) as hard-working designer who has a hard time driving from Los Angeles to San Francisco and back again, who meets a tall dark stranger in Miles O'Keeffe (ATOR, THE FIGHTING EAGLE, THE CARTEL) who - does he smell? He smells, right? He's a drifter, so...smelly is a big possibility, right? How dangerous is it to lose your sense of smell? We discuss! Written and directed by Larry Brand, who also acts in the movie, Brand's directorial debut, and also the debut of him writing, acting, and directing a movie as well, this also brings up the problems with conducting your business at the Oki Dog and giving family heirlooms to a stranger. Also, how important is project management? Why are people not going to movie theaters anymore? And, do cats like the ocean? THE DRIFTER brings up some serious and delicate topics, and we do our best to rip the door off of them all. So sit back and relax on that motel floor in the room you've just rented from some motel that is somewhere between the Bay Area and Los Angeles but also somehow near mountains, and enjoy this smoldering, sex-filled thriller that tears the lid off of doing your due diligence when hiring people. Background checks, folks! Don't be afraid of them! For all the shows in Someone's Favorite Productions Podcast Network, head here: https://www.someonesfavoriteproductions.com/.

On this week's Arcade: Uno paints on his jungle camo to drop his full review of MGS Delta: Snake Eater before making the case for why the indie point-and-click thriller, The Drifter, is one of his certified GOTY contenders. Meanwhile, Chugs doubles up on ninja action with Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance.Afterwards, the boys have dedicated over a dozen hours into Hollow Knight: Silksong and they've got plenty to say about whether the most anticipated game of the decade lives up to the hype. Hello again, it's me, the Ostrich that Indieventure hires to write episode descriptions while Rebecca is away. Well, I say hire. Liam actually keeps me in a big glass cube in his garage, and whenever my services are required, he uses a large hammer to release me. The entire process is inefficient (and don't even get me started on how much he's spending on glass per financial quarter), but he has started patting me on the head and telling me how good I am at writing words, so who am I to complain? Much in the same way I am released from my prison in the event of an emergency, the Indieventure trio were forced to smash the proverbial glass that surrounds the listener mailbag format this week, following a last-minute embargo change to a game they were all planning on reviewing instead. That game was Demonschool, which was pushed back to November following the surprise announcement of the release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong. The episode begins with a brief discussion about Team Cherry's upcoming mega hit, especially how much it has disrupted the indie game release schedule. Is Silksong the indie equivalent of Grand Theft Auto 6? That's maybe a question they answer here. I can't remember. Maybe listen to the episode yourself instead of expecting me to do it? You fool. You oaf. Then, the trio answer YOUR questions! Who is the hottest Peggle character? What does a successful indie podcast look like? What are your earliest memories of gaming? You'll find out the answers to these (and more!) in this section. Finally, it's Hyperfixation time. Liam is channeling Big Dad Energy after watching The Naked Gun, Rebecca has been listening to The Lion's Roar by First Aid Kit, and Rachel has been playing The Drifter. Anyway, I'd best be off. A DPD van just delivered an enormous glass cube, and Liam is now standing outside of its door, tapping his watch and looking impatient. Speak soon! Our music was written and performed by Ollie Newbury! Find him on Instagram at @newbsmusic. Meanwhile, you can find us at indieventurepodcast.co.uk or wherever you listen to podcasts. On August 7, 1972, 16-year-old Jeannette DePalma left her home in Springfield, New Jersey, to go to work, but she never made it back home. Six weeks later, Jeannette's body was found atop Devil's Teeth, a cliff in Houdaille Quarry. With very little evidence, no clear suspects, and rumors of her being the victim of a Satanic Cult, her case has gone cold with no answers to be had for any of the countless questions left in the wake of her death. 53 years later, the mystery of what really happened to Jeannette DePalma has continued to baffle those who still remember her. Today, I am joined by Brian Santana to break down the case file and walk you through one of my home state's most baffling crimes. If you have any information about the death of Jeannette DePalma, please contact the Springfield Police Department at (973) 376-0400.Visit the Justice for Jeannette website and sign the petition Get A Murder On Campus: The Professor, The Cop, and North Carolina's Most Notorious Cold Case hereCheck out Chapter 91 with Brian and Cameron Santana hereCheck out Chapter 105: Summer's Almost Gone with Brian Santana and J.T. This is not your run of the mill hydration system. We're back with another episode of the Hunt Lift Eat Podcast and this week we are stoked to have Joe & Ross Ellis from Drifter Hydration with us.Drifter hydration has built a water and fluid system that is meant to get beaten up, taken outdoors, and create less worry when it comes to your hydration. What sets them apart from other companies? Two big things - you have the ability to pressurize your water and remove the constant sucking effect and two - your hydration system is built for the rugged outdoors. Unlike other hydration packs, Drifter Hydration is a hard shell bladder that can get beaten up, thrown around, and will not break while you're in the outdoors.
