WORT 89.9FM Madison · Combo Noir Says “To Hell With Love” Saint Valentine, the patron saint of epileptics and beekeepers, was beheaded at the hands of Roman Centurions on February 14, 225. For reasons no-one really understands – maybe because birds were once thought to pair up in mid-February – or perhaps because modern greeting card companies needed to make money – St. Valentine's feast day has become associated with romance and love. Madison's slinky blues/soul outfit Combo Noir isn't buying the whole Valentine's Day nonsense. They're presenting “To Hell With Love” at the North Street Cabaret on February 14th. Lead singer Anna Purnell joined Monday Buzz host Brian Standing on February 9, 2026. Did you enjoy this story? Your funding makes great, local journalism like this possible.
