2014 NMC Summer Conference

Nico Carver of University of Delaware presents "Tracking Mouse Movements to Assess Learning." This presentation shares the latest research being done with MACAW, a method for collecting and analyzing mouse-tracking data, developed at the University of Delaware Library. The goal of MACAW is to improve instruction through understanding how people interact with their computers during a workshop or class.

Jared Bendis from Case Western Reserve University presents "The Great Furby Project." In 2012, Hasbro released a new Furby, and in 2013 and 2014 , every student in the “Living in the Digital Age” course was required to purchase, care for, and explore with one. What for, and why? What did students ultimately learn? Find answers in “The Great Furby Project!"

Michael Berman from CSU Channel Islands presents "$100 per Second" at the 2014 NMC Summer Conference in Portland. CSU Channel Islands developed a creative strategy based on social media and user-created content to boost campus enrollment. The campaign, “15 Seconds is Worth $1500”, engaged current and prospective students by challenging them to explain in a 15 second video why they chose Channel Islands

Steven Varela and Janet Hill from University of Texas at El Paso present "Transforming the Humanities with Virtual World Technology."

Maya Georgieva from New York University presents "Innovation Lab: Apps and Wearable Tech Powers New Learning Experiences" NYU Stern students spend their first two days in the Langone MBA program working in teams to create a new service, product, or an idea, which directly affects their lives. Their experiences prototyping their designs were captured through wearable technology including Google Glass and Narrative Clip.

Bryan Blakeley of Boston College from Boston College presents "Creating an Environment for Innovation."

The theme of the 2014 NMC Summer Conference Photo Safari in Portland Oregon was "Street Photography." This adventure and workshop were led by Kyle Dickson and Nil Santana of Abilene Christian University.
