Who would have thought we would see the day when Messi would don the jersey of a football club situated outside Catalonia? Well the time has come and our belts are tightly buckled for the ride. The stench of the financial rot at Barcelona FC has traveled the ends of the world, so that is no news, but seeing how much PSG and Manchester City are shipping out to acquire new talent, we cannot but wonder do they have the Biblical blood of the lamb on their doorposts which is warding off the spirit of Financial Fair Play from visiting their households? Also, the countdown to the end of a hugely eventful summer transfer window this season is well and truly on. Should we expect any more surprises?
It's the off-season and preparation for the 2021/2022 football season is in full swing with pre-season matches and transfers. In this episode we discuss those transfers that have caught our eyes with Giuseppe and Mr Wallywall being overly excited about Man United's business so far. There's also a sprinkle of Olympics gist in there.
They say all (good) things must come to an end and so was the case with the Euro 2020 which we enjoyed thoroughly. We were sad to see it go but football is a gift that keeps on giving so there is definitely more to look forward to in this beautiful game of ours. In this episode of Bants Republic Podcast we had a lengthy debate about racism and hooliganism in football amongst other things, especially as we experienced it in this year's competition. Drop a comment on our social media handles everywhere letting us know what you think about racism and hooliganism in football. We would love to hear your thoughts.
We enjoyed the best Monday Night Football ever when France crashed out of the Euros. We have seen, upsets, disappointments, and nerve racking suspense at this edition of the competition. In all, it seems this competition is a gift that keeps on giving.
We're some way into the spectacle that is the Euros competition this year and as Mr Wallywall would say, "we're already seeing the cream rising to the top" Get it?
It's time for international football again. Who will come out tops in the Euros this year with Ronaldo on track to become the player with the highest number of international goals, Eden Hazard struggling for form, Lukaku fresh off a hugely successful season in Italy, and the France forward line giving us major talking points?
