Alan is once again joined by podcast veteran Dr. Matt Standridge to dissect the American Association of Orthodontists' (AAO) controversial 2026 white paper on sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) and orthodontics. Together, they pull back the curtain on the document's surprising omissions—including a shrinking author panel that entirely removed sleep physicians—and critique its heavy, restrictive reliance on full polysomnography (PSG) as a gatekeeper for early pediatric intervention. Dr. Standridge highlights how the paper's narrow scope and questionable citations conflict with both well-established historical data and contemporary European medical guidelines, framing the white paper more as a defensive "CYA" document than a progressive guide for patient care.

Paris a gagné. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
Iran deal, Niño Guerrero, New York Knicks riots, Elon Musk, and Freddie from Germany headline today's A.M. Update. Trump posts on Truth Social that a deal with Iran is complete and the Strait of Hormuz is open, but Aaron recorded much of this episode before that post dropped — and his pre-deal analysis still stands, because nobody has seen the text, the Middle East is calling it a capitulation, and Aaron says pump the brakes either way. Tren de Aragua leader Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, known as Niño Guerrero, is killed in a U.S. military strike that Trump announced Friday with video. New York Knicks fans torch five school buses, injure ten NYPD officers, and shoot one person celebrating the NBA championship, and Aaron notes that PSG fans set the bar and New York said hold my degeneracy. Elon Musk becomes the world's first trillionaire after SpaceX's $75 billion IPO, AOC calls him unintelligent, Ro Khanna wants a 5% wealth tax that Aaron's math shows wouldn't cover half of one year of bachelor's degree tuition. Aaron closes with Aaronalysis on Freddie from Germany, the X account that went from thousands to half a million followers by driving through the American South for the World Cup and being blown away by Buc-ee's, Bass Pro Shops, stranger hospitality, and the Gulf Coast at sunset.

Patrick and Ted are back for their first World Cup episode, working through the opening round of fixtures and the early transfer window stories. On the games: Brazil vs Morocco raised serious questions about Ancelotti's side, and Patrick had a few rants pending. The USA looked more convincing than anyone expected against Paraguay. Turkey managed 30 shots and 1.40 xG against Australia, which will surprise nobody who has watched Turkey at a major tournament before. Ivory Coast edged Ecuador in a game that was more fun than it had any right to be. On transfers: Ayyoub Bouaddi ran circles around Brazil at 18 years old and PSG, Arsenal and Liverpool are all circling. Ted and Patrick dig into what his numbers actually look like and whether the £60-70M fee makes sense for any of them. Christos Tzolis is reportedly heading to Arsenal and could be a straight swap for Martinelli. And Marc Cucurella is off to Real Madrid on a six year deal, which raises the question of what exactly Real Madrid are doing this summer. This week's Goal Own Goal swings from Roland Garros heat exhaustion and prize-money grumbling to the usual grand tour of football's modern absurdities: Celtic's managerial politics, Arsenal's latest lesson in defending like their lives depend on it, PSG's triumph, women's football still waiting for the promised mass audience, and FIFA's relentless mission to turn the World Cup into a luxury product for people who don't actually enjoy football. Grant and Roger do what they do best here — tear into the financial hype, skewer the ego-driven suits, and remind everyone that the game still works best when it stays messy, tribal, and gloriously uninterested in being a “platform." PSG put themselves into an elite group by winning back-to-back Champions Leagues, but the big takeaway for Eddie was how disappointing and defensive Arsenal were throughout the final. Myles Garrett and AJ Brown were both part of blockbuster trades in the NFL, and Frank and Eddie think that the Garrett trade might be a rare example of both sides making a good deal. Plus, a Roland Garros full of upsets is going to provide some new Grand Slam champions. Still, Eddie is getting tired of Naomi Osaka making it about everything other than tennis, but he has even stronger thoughts on Jaxson Dart's handling of his Trump backlash.

#1013 | Ed and Dominic discuss United's deal to sign midfielder Ederson from Atalanta for around £35m plus add-ons. There's been a muted reaction from fans but his standout physicality and counter-pressing should offer something the squad is missing, although concerns about his limited inventiveness in passing are fair. A useful squad option if United add two more midfielders, with Matheus Fernandes also progressing. There are rumors of United's interest in Lewis Hall and Marcus Rashford has an uncertain future amid Barcelona's spending. In this episode we convene a few days after Arsenal lost the Champions League final to PSG in Budapest. So much has happened since then, that's it's hard to really keep track, but we go chronologically through the trips to Hungary, the atmosphere in the city among other Arsenal fans, and lots more before we get to the game itself. Kai Havertz's early goal had a big impact on the game, not simply by virtue of putting us ahead, but how it influenced the game state. There's discussion of the penalty they were awarded and the one we weren't, the referee's performance, extra-time, and ultimately the heartbreak of the penalty shoot-out with analysis of the takers and the order in which they were taken. After some reflections on how it all felt, we go into part 2 to talk about the post-game reaction in Budapest, what we can learn from this game, before focusing on the incredible scenes in North London at the parade which really helped diminish the pain of the night before. We also take some listener questions about Josh Kroenke and his role, the potential profile of summer signings, Arsenal being emotional, and loads more besides. It's a long one, strap in!Get extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast.
