Fly fishing is such an amazing and has become such a huge part of my life. My guests and I talk about tactics and techniques, the fly fishing community as a whole, and the life lessons we have learned from being out on the water.

This message came to me this morning on the treadmill. A story of this past summer (summer 2020), when someone called me a mess. And I realize their judgement in that moment doesn't define who I am. They didn't see what I had been through to get to that point, the hurt I have felt. But God's promise and purpose is so much great than that pain.
In this I give away coordinates to an excellent fishing spot 33.076391, 104.369524 if you are in that area. Plus we talk about the art of deception that many of fishermen have master over the years and how it isn't super likely that the spot I gave you is legit....haha Trout Magic https://www.amazon.com/Trout-Magic-Robert-Traver/dp/0671661949/ref=asc_df_0671661949/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312151423430&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6764981353351060594&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9021322&hvtargid=pla-569411864288&psc=1

I share my brief story and thoughts as I went from being on the verge of suicide to walking into 2020 stronger than I have ever been.

Jig Hooks or Standard Hooks Which are better? I did a little experiment comparing the two when it comes to swinging nymphs. The results are actually quite substantial, but I will let you decide for yourself.

It can be so easy to be envious of those who do wicked deeds because often they look so successful! However, we don't always know what they are going through and God will deal with the wicked and punish or act to turn them back to him. More specifically I talk about the rod, reel, and line combos I use for euro nymphing, indicator nymphing, and dry fly fishing.
Do you love God? God loves you, but do you love God? We are so quick to change for other people, but why are we so slow to change for God? Romans 8 is my go to chapter for when I am down and need encouragement. Here is what I got from it on my last time reading through it.

We are called to be one body because we are stronger together. We are supposed to love our neighbors as God calls us to do and be a light to this world.
News flash no one expects you to be perfect not even God! So you shouldn't expect yourself to be perfect either.
The Christian life is not always the easy life. God calls us to do what is hard and walk the straight and narrow path of righteousness. While not always easier God makes our lives so much easier by promising peace and salvation.
When we give into fear and anxiety we are robbing ourselves of our potential. When anxiety controls us we are held back. Hope and faith allow us to push forward and free our potential from the bondage of fear.
Each and every single day we have the opportunity to be born again. We can let the us of yesterday die. Everyone also starts so strong and then fades, but what if everyday is the beginning? How strong can we be each and every single day?
I have fallen away from being true to myself since the 14 day running for mental health. Well its time to get back to me. Starting a new challenge. 18 days of an early morning routine of working out and sharing stories and tips for mental health. This challenge I will also be more true to myself sharing pieces of scripture and my thoughts as well as fly fishing stuff (other channel). Personally I struggle with forgiveness. This flaw has tormented me and caused me a great deal of unhappiness. We need to learn to forgive and heal in order to be truly happy.
We are called to root ourselves deeply in faith and pay little attention to trying to weed out other people's evils or seek vengeance. For in doing so we destroy our own harvest and lose the deep roots which we have watered and fed over time. In the end, God will sort out the good from the bad, once we have been harvested from this earth.
In no way is it easy, but to fix our kingdom we need to first start with ourselves. What can we do today to be better? What can we do today to start building habits of being better?

God calls us to always have faith. However, faith is easy when everything seems to be going right. How about when things are going wrong? A lot harder right? Yet God calls us to lean into our faith when things get hard and have faith despite how desperate things might appear.
Ultimately, God tells us we have a choice. We can choose to see evil and be full of darkness or choose to see good and be full of light. Control your perception and fix your gaze on the light in the world.
