What if personal tragedy could be transformed into a source of resilience and healing? Join me as I share my journey from rock bottom to self-awareness, illuminating the transformative power of therapy. Alongside, I introduce Emily Nicolich, a dedicated employee at Lager Counseling Services, stepping into a therapeutic internship. Her story of personal resilience exemplifies how overcoming challenges can prepare us to help others more effectively. Together, Emily and I explore the profound impact of addressing mental health issues, particularly among teenagers, and highlight the vital role of empathy and understanding in guiding them through life's challenges.Ever wondered how to navigate the often complex and overwhelming world of teenage mental health? We explore this landscape, delving into the pressures of adolescence, including depression, self-esteem issues, and family conflicts. Through personal anecdotes, we underscore the importance of validating teenagers' feelings and offering support, even in difficult circumstances like divorce. We also address the sensitive topic of suicide, offering insights into recognizing risk factors, understanding the myths surrounding it, and providing the necessary support for those in crisis. The powerful story of Kevin Hines serves as a beacon of hope, reminding us that life is precious and resilience is within reach. The episode culminates in a call to action, urging listeners to become part of our mission to awaken mental health awareness globally. We extend gratitude to our guest, Emily, and to you, our listeners, for supporting this cause. I’m so excited to introduce you to Artur Pilat, a martial artist, stand-up comic, and host of What a Shitshow podcast. I met Artur at his graffiti-covered bar on the buzzing streets of Ho Chi Minh City, and we instantly connected. In this episode, he shares his unique take on life, philosophy, and how humor helps him through life’s messy moments. What We Talked About: Shaping Reality Through Perspective:Artur talks about how the way we choose to see life shapes our experiences. He shares personal stories—including the time he spent a week in a Vietnamese prison!—to show how every challenge can offer valuable lessons. Finding Yourself & Embracing Curiosity:Artur explains how psychedelics, philosophy, and questioning everything helped him forge his own path. His advice? Stay curious, evolve, and trust the journey as it unfolds. Comedy as a Way to Cope:We also dive into Artur’s experience with stand-up comedy and how humor helps him process life’s tough moments. He believes that finding humor, even in the messiest situations, can make a world of difference. Transitions & New Beginnings:We both reflect on big changes—like my upcoming move to Europe and Artur’s journey post-Ho Chi Minh—and the excitement and uncertainty that come with starting fresh. I loved his favorite quote: “If you’re brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello.” It really hit home for me! Why Curiosity Matters:Artur and I agree that staying open to new perspectives is so important. Whether we learn from role models or from people who teach us what not to do, every encounter helps us grow. This was such a fun and inspiring conversation! If you enjoyed it, I’d love it if you gave us a 5-star rating and followed Artur’s journey on What a Shitshow!

Send us a Text Message. In this week's episode of The Millennial Reset, we're joined by licensed clinical psychologist, and mental health contributor to Good Morning America, Dr. Abena Berry, to learn what the heck it even really means to "find yourself" after decades of conditioning and "masking up" to fit with societal expectations.Millennials have always dreamed of a life with more purpose and creativity, but that's a real challenge when we've spent so many years of our adult lives walking around pretending to be an imposter of what we were taught about success and happiness.  Dr. Berry provides us with a few valuable tips to guide us millennials through this healing journey of getting back to your authentic self:Learning never stops. Learning about yourself is an ongoing journey. We struggle, we grow, we learn, and we CHANGE.  New learning and insights come with embracing the learning in times of change. You are not your conditioning. Psychology has already shown us that we are NOT born as blank slates, but that is how we are raised by default.  Our parents and society "program" us based on what they think will help us, but in reality, it keeps us living in a confined box, rather than living our lives true to US. YOU are the new parent. We can live our lives waiting on someone else, such as our parents, to change, or we can assume the responsibility of becoming the new parent to your brain that you always needed.  Do a values inventory, check-in with your beliefs, and start being kinder to yourself! Reparent yourself for the way you want your brain to be wired, instead of the way it got wired by others. Bottom line, there's nothing to "find" when it comes to your authentic self.  It's in you and always been in you, but you just have to uncover it first.  That's where the true inner work happens! Summary In this episode, I interview Domanique Taylor, a brand strategist and website designer, about her journey into motherhood and how it has shaped her personal and professional goals. Domanique shares the challenges she faced as a young mother and how she had to adjust her plans for her career. She also discusses the differences between raising her first son and her second son, and how she has evolved as a mother over the years. Domanique emphasizes the importance of finding your own path and being true to yourself as a business owner. She also talks about the importance of self-care and leaning on your community for support. Takeaways Motherhood can bring unexpected challenges and require adjustments to your plans and goals. Raising multiple children can be a juggling act, but it's important to find a balance and give each child the attention they need. As a mother, it's important to evolve and grow, embracing the different versions of yourself that come with each stage of motherhood. Building a business with your spouse can be a rewarding experience, but it's important to maintain separate identities and have time apart. Self-care looks different for everyone, and it's important to ask for help and lean on your community for support. How to immediately change your life for the better—sounds too good to be true, but it isn't. And my guest, Dr. James Arthur Williams, is here to discuss just how powerful we are once we let go of our self-imposed limitations. If you're wondering what to do when you are stuck, how to get rid of self-doubt and fear, how to reinvent yourself, and how to turn your life, health, and relationships around, this episode is for you. Life was anything but rosy for Dr. WIlliams as he grew up masked, selling drugs at 13 years of age, fathering two kids, dropping out of high school, and living on the streets by 17 years old. However, Dr. Williams transformed from a thug and drug dealer to an acclaimed professor and motivational speaker. Today, Dr. Williams is a tenured professor at the University of Tennessee, an author, and the owner of UNMASKYTP, LLC. He trains domestic and international leaders to dwell in joy while seeking curiosity in every endeavor. He teaches mindfulness, various leadership tactics, and one-on-one coaching to build brighter leaders for the future. He has worked with leaders in Spain, South Korea, Bulgaria, China, and many Fortune 100 companies. In this episode, we reflect on how understanding who we're not can propel us toward who we truly are and why self-love, not external validation, is the cornerstone of a fulfilling life. We also discover how involving family in our visions can amplify our aspirations and create a circle of encouragement that propels us toward a purpose-driven existence. This is more than just a conversation; it's a masterclass on how dreaming big and embracing every challenge can lay the foundation for a life of true fulfillment and joy. — Episode Chapter Big Ideas (timing may not be exact) — (00:01) Unleashing Limitless Potential (10:43) Breaking Free and Finding Yourself (17:06) Manifesting Success Through Faith and Persistence (21:43) Family Vision and Big Thinking (30:45) Navigating Social Constructs and Self-Mastery (43:56) Mindful Consumption and Teaching Passion (47:10) Life Lessons Learned Through Teaching (52:37) Unlocking Limitless Potential Through Fitness (01:00:05) Doctor James Williams' Online Presence — Connect with Dr. James Williams — Website — https://www.drjamesarthurwilliams.com/ Book: From Thug to Scholar: An Odyssey to Unmask My True Potential — https://www.amazon.com/Thug-Scholar-Odyssey-Unmask-Potential/dp/1735106356/ — Connect with Julian and Executive Health — Curious about becoming a concierge client?
