There are many celebrity fashion brands out there. Jessica Simpson's eponymous brand was the first celebrity line to crack one billion dollars in sales. Draper James by Reese Witherspoon. I could go on and on. Then, of course, there are literally a million and one celebrity beauty brands. Name any female celebrity and they probably had a beauty brand. However, most of these brands use the celebrity as the face of the company, and the products they try to hock don't really matter. It's really just a ploy to make money. But what about those select celebrities who were able to truly crossover into the fashion world, and truly make good products? Is that even possible? With books coming out like Girl Boss or Lean In, females today are told to be a leader, be assertive, and take up more space.
